The version of Captain America: Brave New World that arrived in theaters earlier this year seemingly had little in common with the one that was originally filmed. Something about it wasn't working, though, meaning The Leader's scenes were reshot and the superpowered Serpent Society was cut.

Rosa Salazar and WWE Superstar Seth Rollins were left on the cutting room floor, despite the former getting her own Happy Meal toy as Diamondback.

Fans of Stephen King's expansive fantasy series "The Dark Tower" have had a pretty rough go of it when it comes to screen adaptations, with only the (extremely subpar) 2017 movie trying to tell the tale of gunslinger Roland Deschain and his epic journey toward the titular tower. Now it seems like there might actually be a proper streaming adaptation courtesy of Mike Flanagan, who directed great takes on King stories with both "Doctor Sleep" and "Gerald's Game," with elements penned by King himself, which is kind of a dream come true.

Because "The Dark Tower" connects a great deal of King's work on the printed page, there are some pretty big references to the "Dark Tower" novels in other King adaptations, giving fans a tiny bit of hope over the years that maybe someday we would get to meet Roland, his ka-tet, and maybe even Blaine the train, that pain.

Marvel Studios has become infamous for how much it changes scripts and projects in development, sometimes even during the actual production of the film. The somewhat unorthodox method of production seemingly worked for the studio in the past, with stories like those of Jeff Bridges, Jon Favreau, Robert Downey Jr. and others on the set of Iron Man rewriting and creating new scenes as they went along being the stuff of legends. Lately, however, this way of working hasn't exactly worked out well for Marvel, and new behind-the-scenes look at Captain America: Brave New World feels like a prime example of that.

Captain America: Brave New World left Marvel Cinematic Universe fans wanting despite following extensive reshoots and creative changes. One thing the film deprived audiences of is Isaiah Bradley transforming into the Patriot.

A new behind-the-scenes image from the film, shared by Captain America News on X, confirmed that Bradley was supposed to appear as the Patriot. The photo features the stunt doubles of Carl Lumbly's Bradley, Shira Haas' Ruth Bat-Seraph and Anthony Mackie's Sam Wilson sporting their suits. The costume Bradley's stunt double (seen on the left) wears is a comics-accurate outfit of the Patriot, featuring the notable star on the front.

Captain America: Brave New World may have gone through more extensive reshoots than any MCU movie before it. The superpowered Serpent Society was cut, all of The Leader's scenes were reshot after his appearance was redesigned, and Sidewinder was added as a new villain.

Those are just a few of the changes (another saw Red Hulk still free and keeping watch over Betty Ross from afar). We've seen promo art showing Isaiah Bradley wearing a costume, but that's now been fully revealed in a photo showcasing the movie's stunt team.

It's previously been reported that Isaiah and Sabra suited up to help Sam Wilson fight Red Hulk in the final battle. For whatever reason, Marvel Studios decided that the new Captain America should go it alone, and Bradley never got his superhero moment as a result.

2025 has been one of the weaker years for the film industry as high-budget films like Captain America: Brave New World and Snow White have failed at both impressing the audience and at the box office. While there have been many disappointments this year, it does not mean that there have been no good movies released this year, and to prove that, we have compiled a list of the best movies that have come out in 2025 so far.

28 Years Later is a post-apocalyptic coming-of-age horror film directed by Danny Boyle from a screenplay by Alex Garland. The 2025 threequel film is set 28 years after the rage virus outbreak, and it follows a young boy and his father as they leave the safety of their isolated island to venture out into the dangerous world.

Reshoots completely reshaped Captain America: Brave New World, and the Serpent Society in its original form ended up on the cutting room floor.

Rosa Salazar and Seth Rollins were cast as Diamondback and Cobra, and were in the movie long enough for the former to receive her own Happy Meal toy last year. When all was said and done, the Serpent Society became Sidewinder's grounded (some might say "generic") group of mercenaries, the Serpents.

Thanks to The Artbook Collector, we now have a new look at Cobra and Asp, along with a first look at Red Hulk's mustache and beard, neither of which made it into the movie. Rather than follow the comics by having President Thaddeus Ross' facial hair vanish when he transforms—which was largely done to hide Red Hulk's identity—it was explained that he shaved it off during his Presidential campaign.

Nearly a decade before directing "Spider-Man," Sam Raimi gave the world "M.A.N.T.I.S."

To answer the most burning question right away, "M.A.N.T.I.S." stands for Mechanically Augmented Neuro-Transmitter Interception System. It's the nickname that Dr. Miles Hawkins (Carl Lumbly) gave to the elaborate metal exoskeleton that he strapped around his body to fight crime. Dr. Hawkins had previously been paralyzed from the waist down after being shot in the spine by the police while trying to rescue a child in peril during a riot. He tried to sue the police department, but instead found a racist conspiracy designed to keep the city's Black population oppressed. Moved to justice, Dr. Hawkins invented the M.A.N.T.I.S. exoskeleton to help him walk. The exoskeleton worked better than he could have possibly imagined, though, granting him superhuman strength. He elected to become a bug-inspired superhero, doling out justice and confronting police corruption.

Mike Flanagan made his impact on the horror genre with different projects, but he became popular after his partnership with Netflix for shows like The Haunting of Hill House, Midnight Mass, and The Fall of the House of Usher. However, the auteur is very well-versed in the adaptation of Stephen King's novels.

The horror mastermind is often critical of his adaptations, but his partnership with Flanagan has proven extremely prolific. After Flanagan focused exclusively on creating and directing TV shows, he also worked on several Stephen King projects. The latest one, The Life of Chuck, debuted last year to positive reviews and awards chatter at the Toronto International Film Festival, and, as it finally hit theaters, it features an equally thrilling score on Rotten Tomatoes.

The big indies are out in force in a crowded market on another strong weekend for ticket sales with the domestic box office now up 26% versus 2024, according to Comscore. Neon is trying something new for the edgy brand with The Life Of Chuck. The Phoenician Scheme from Focus Features jumps to wide release. A24 and IFC have have horror films, and they’re all vying with big studio releases and some smaller independents.

Review: Two kinds of folks will be checking out this review of The Life of Chuck—those who have read the short story and those who haven’t. To be transparent, I’m one of those who have not. I was tempted to read it before making the trip to TIFF (which is where I first saw this movie) to see Mike Flanagan’s big-screen adaptation, but in the end, I didn’t because I wanted to experience the film as its own thing without any preconceived notions.

Reaching theatres this Friday, June 6th, is The Life of Chuck, the latest Stephen King adaptation from Mike Flanagan, who has previously been at the helm of the Stephen King adaptations Gerald’s Game and Doctor Sleep (and is also developing series adaptations of The Dark Tower and Carrie for Amazon Studios) – but this one is not a horror movie. Currently, Captain America: Brave New World is dominating the Disney+ streaming charts. Globally, it is the No. 1 movie on Disney+. It's comfortably ahead of a slew of Lilo & Stitch movies, which make up the rest of the Top 5. Of course, that's likely due to the new live-action remake having a successful run in theaters. Thunderbolts*, which received far more positive reviews, has similarly underperformed. At best, it will likely finish its run with $380 million.

Don't feel too sorry for Disney, though, as Lilo & Stitch is shaping up to be 2025's biggest hit. Following a record-breaking Memorial Day weekend, the live-action adaptation of the 2002 animated classic passed $421 million on Wednesday...meaning it outgrossed Captain America: Brave New World's $415 million in less than one week.

It's not all doom and gloom for the McU's Sam Wilson; Captain America: Brave New World has been #1 on Disney+ since arriving on the streaming platform earlier this week.

Isaiah Bradley's (Carl Lumbly) attack against U.S. President Thaddeus "Thunderbolt" Ross (Harrison Ford) in Captain America: Brave New World raised many questions about his state of mind. Bradley made his MCU debut in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier on Disney+ as an African-American soldier who secretly took the Super Soldier serum during the Korean War. 

While Steve Rogers received high praise as Captain America, Bradley's story was different and tragic. His act of rescuing other black super soldiers during the war and defeating the Winter Soldier led to his capture by the U.S. government, mainly because they wanted to erase the truth about his brave stand. 

Thankfully, Sam Wilson (Anthony Mackie) helped fix his legacy by creating a memorial dedicated to Isaiah Bradley's efforts for the country. However, Bradley still doesn't trust the U.S. government, which is understandable given what he has been through in the past.

Marvel Studios' Captain America: Brave New World is now streaming on Disney+, giving those who decided to skip the movie in theaters - or who might want to give it another shot - the chance to watch Sam Wilson's first big-screen outing as the Sentinel of Liberty from the comfort of their couch.

Deadpool and Wolverine proved to be a much-needed box office jolt for Marvel/Disney, and also went over pretty well with fans and critics. Unfortunately, Brave New World wasn't quite able to keep the momentum going.

To be fair, the movie did end up passing $400 million worldwide (which didn't always seem likely), but with a budget that reportedly ballooned to over $200 million after extensive reshoots (not counting marketing costs), this must still be considered as a disappointing result. The critical reception was also mixed-negative, and the fourth Captain America movie is currently sitting at 47% on Rotten Tomatoes based on 342 reviews.

Anthony Mackie steps into the title role for the fourth movie in the MCU’s Captain America series, following the events of TV’s The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. However, somewhat unexpectedly, the film also turns out to be a direct sequel to The Incredible Hulk, albeit one without Bruce Banner in it. The result, unfortunately, is something of a mixed bag.

Captain America: Brave New World drew a mixed response from fans and critics alike. However, many fans agree that Harrison Ford's take on President Thaddeus "Thunderbolt" Ross and the rampaging Red Hulk were two of the movie's biggest successes.

The villain was only unleashed for 10 minutes in the movie, but still made a lasting impact. Marvel Studios also left the door open to Ford reprising the role in a future MCU project, though it remains to be seen whether that's as part of the Avengers franchise or World War Hulk.

It's already been confirmed that a version of Red Hulk with Ross' trademark moustache was considered, and director Julius Onah has now confirmed that we nearly got to see the rageful Commander in Chief wield a gun.

In a race against time, he must discover the reason behind a nefarious global plot before the true mastermind has the entire world seeing red.

Directed by Julius Onah, the film also stars Danny Ramirez, Shira Haas, Xosha Roquemore, Carl Lumbly, Giancarlo Esposito, Liv Tyler, and Tim Blake Nelson. Kevin Feige and Nate Moore produced the pic, with Louis D’Esposito and Charles Newirth serving as executive producers.
