Hat Trick has been wrongly projected as a cricket film. The truth is that it’s as much about cricket as about hats. But honestly, hats off to producer Utv, director Milan Luthria, and writer Rajat Aroraa for displaying such an enormously enterprising spirit. Unlike some other films that push the envelope, Hat Trick doesn’t get self-indulgently, didactic, or ham-handed. The narrative, segregated into three nimble and endearing slices of life, never fails to entertain.

Hat Trick doesn’t flounder even once in telling its story of lives that barely crisscross and yet come together in celebrating life at its most elemental level. The homilies spill out from Rajat Aroraa’s energetic words, which often say a lot more than they seem to.

Once upon a time, Milan Luthria directed a film about gangsters called Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai. Not that it was any great shakes. But compared to Luthria’s new homage to gangsterism, it was a masterpiece.

The new monsterpiece stretching into nine episodes should have never been made. It is hideously bad in plotting and woefully inadequate in execution. The sets are tacky: a refugee camp in the opening episode looks like a college canteen.

Dull and cheesy, it establishes an immediate yawn sumbandh with the audience, provided there is an audience for these tales glorifying gangsters and sociopaths who should ideally be placed in the trashcan of anonymity.

Actor Nishant Dahiya, who is awaiting the release of his upcoming streaming series ‘Sultan Of Delhi’, has shared that for him his character in the series is very ‘far-fetched’ and that it is diametrically opposite to him as a person.

In the series, Nishant essays the role ofthe antagonist, R P Singh, and for him stepping into the shows of the character was quite challenging, and having no commonality with the character made it even tougher.

Talking about the same, Nishant said: “I think the most challenging part in playing Rp was the initial part of understanding why he is the way he is and trying to figure out what turned him into what he is today, understanding his thought process, his psyche and trying to create things in my head to feel exactly the way Rp feels.”

He further mentioned: “That was the most difficult thing in terms of adapting to this character.
