  • British character actress, trained at the Sorbonne in France and at the Central School of Speech and Drama in London. She began her career in repertory theatre in Perth, Scotland in 1939 and moved to London in 1965. A familiar face on British television, she was often seen as neighbours, aunts or mothers and had a notable recurring role as Auntie Flo to Wendy Craig's character in And Mother Makes Three (1971-73).
  • She became a Eucharistic minister at the Church of Our Lady, St John's Wood, taking communion to the sick and elderly, and received a bronze medal from the Knights of Malta and a citation from the Vatican.
