Finally, we’re getting somewhere with MobLand season 1! Episode 8 reeks of disorder and confusion, foreshadowing two major bombshells, and if you aren’t paying full attention, you just might miss them.

Episode 8 takes us deep into the aftermath of episode 7's carnage. Harry (Tom Hardy) brings Seraphina (Mandeep Dhillon) home, where she plays right into Maeve’s (Helen Mirren) web. Maeve works to convince Kevin (Paddy Considine) that Seraphina is a threat. Harry learns that Eddie (Anson Boon) is sleeping with his daughter, and we uncover more about who Kat McAllister (Janet McTeer) is.

Meanwhile, Conrad (Pierce Brosnan) tries to assert his control when he asks Bella (Lara Pulver) to spy on Kevin and questions Jan (Joanne Froggatt) about Alice (Emily Barber). He also sees an opportunity to ice Richie (Geoff Bell) out of the fentanyl game, and additionally, the cops make a deadly move.

MobLand season 1 episode 5 saw the war between our crime families ignited and burning wildly after the grisly murder of the Stevenson matriarch, allegedly on Maeve’s (Helen Mirren) orders.

In episode 6, insight abounds in the wake of Vron’s (Annie Cooper) death as Conrad (Pierce Brosnan) twists the knife, Maeve (Helen Mirren) schools Eddie (Anson Boon) in the art of chess, and Brendan (Daniel Betts) and Seraphina (Mandeep Dhillon) go rogue. This week’s recap also finds Richie (Geoff Bell) completely devastated, then vengeful, as he fires back against the Harrigans and sets the stage for a war full of carnage.

Across the criminal line, DS Fisk (Luke Mably) realizes the severity of what’s about to happen if the crime families aren’t stopped. It seems the police have a big decision to make.

Now that Tommy (Felix Edwards) has been found, the real challenge begins for our fixer: preventing a bloody war. Harry (Tom Hardy) promised Richie (Geoff Bell) that he’d find his son, and he did… just not in one piece. Richie makes a brazen move in the opening of episode 3 and sends the Harrigans a message that he’s done waiting and is coming for them.

Additionally, Harry continues to juggle problems that need fixing, like his crumbling marriage, his housekeeper’s mother’s financial issues, and something secretive with Kevin’s (Paddy Considine) wife Bella (Lara Pulver), who has gone to great lengths to set her father up and record him bribing a foreign official, only to find herself the subject of extortion by a French spy.

What the purpose and endgame are here we do not yet know.

The events of episode 1 left Harry Da Souza (Tom Hardy) in quite a tight spot, with multiple problems to fix. It’s no big deal, though, as those places are exactly where he feels right at home and does his best work. As the action escalates and more information unfolds in MobLand episode 2, we learn Brendan (Daniel Betts) is the one Harrigan who’s been out in the cold since he botched several family jobs, but he thinks he’s found a way to earn back his parents’ trust.

Exclusive: Stuart Hazeldine, who helmed Lionsgate’s $97M faith-based hit The Shack, will next direct the wartime thriller Irena Sendler, about the Polish social worker who organized a team of young women to smuggle 2,500 Jewish children out of the Warsaw Ghetto in defiance of the Nazi extermination program.

Pic will be produced by Armory Films which has been relishing some great success at the specialty box office recently with its SXSW and Deauville Audience winner The Peanut Butter Falcon (current B.O. $15M).

Irena Sendler is being written by Agatha Dominik, Brian Pittman & Rachel Long and Hazeldine. The film will be produced by Jeff Most, Jeff Rice, Armory Films’ Christopher Lemole and Tim Zajaros, and BAFTA and Oscar-winning producer Ewa Puszczyńska of Extreme Emotions. Golden Globe winning producer Gareth Wiley of Phoenix Wiley will serve as Ep.

Most along with Jeff Rice obtained Sendler’s authorized biography and life rights, including access to unpublished details about her life, as well as securing her blessing to tell her story prior to her passing in 2008. Ingenious Media arranged the funding for the development of the script.

Armory Films’ Christopher Lemole and Tim Zajaros tell Deadline, “What Irena and her courageous group of women were able to accomplish is miraculous. It’s remarkable that so few people know about her incredible story. When he isn’t pimping Winston Wolf out to Direct Line, it’s disheartening to see a great actor like Harvey Keitel in the Werther’s Original role here: the white-haired “Papi” narrating to his grandson how things were in the bad old dog days of the second world war. The framing device, whatever the commercial reasons, also has the unfortunate effect of sapping a degree of urgency from this ponderous and unfocused 1944-set tale.

Lionsgate has released a new trailer for the WWII action film Chosen, from director Jasmin Dizdar, starring legendary actor Harvey Keitel as an unassuming Hungarian lawyer who ends up leading an anti-Nazi resistance during the war. English actor Luke Mably plays the "young" version of Keitel seen in flashbacks during the war. There is quite a bit of action in this, which is probably the main selling point, but I'm curious how much takes place in the present and how much really takes place in the past (during the war). It's the holiday from hell for Luke Mably and Tricia Helfer in a nerve-shredding teaser for Isolation.

The thriller takes place on a beautiful island, where couples travel to escape the hustle and bustle of modern life.

Creighton (Mably) and Lydia (Helfer) think they are in for the vacation of a lifetime, but quickly discover that they're trapped with four dangerous psychopaths.

Isolation also stars The Flash's Dominic Purcell, Marie Avgeropoulos (The 100 ), Stephen Lang (Avatar) and Claudia Church (Chasing Ghosts) as the married couple's demented tormentors.

Harvey Keitel and Ana Ularu lead holocaust drama directed by Cannes award-winning director Jasmin Dizdar.

Bosnian director Jasmin Dizdar has wrapped shooting on Second World War action drama Chosen, starring Harvey Keitel, Ana Ularu and Luke Mably.

Shot in Bucharest, Romania and New York and inspired by true events, the story centres on Sonson, an unassuming young lawyer (Mably) who leads a fight against the Nazis near the end of the Second World War.

With the help of Judith (Ularu) he turns a struggle for survival into a mission to save thousands of lives. Keitel plays Sonson in the present day.

The film marks Dizdar’s second feature, following Beautiful People, which won the Un Certain Regard Best Film Award at the Cannes Film Festival in 1999.

Producer Mike Riley said the film would be delivered before Cannes 2015.

The unloved films of 2009 provide the focus in our final list of the 2000s' overlooked greats...

The year 2009 will partly be remembered as the year Avatar dominating the box office, with audiences flocking to see James Cameron's leafy pulp epic in shimmering 3D. Making almost $2.8bn worldwide, Avatar was a true behemoth, besting Cameron's own Titanic as the highest-grossing film of all time (not adjusted for inflation) and hastening a rush of 3D films in the years that followed.

Films such as 2012, Sherlock Holmes and boozy comedy The Hangover were also among the top 10, but as always, some of the most memorable and individual films of the year were far from the most financially successful. So to round off our series of underrated flicks of the 2000s, here's our selection of 2009's overlooked films...

Just as I really got into Combat Hospital, it's over. "Do No Harm" was the season finale and it left us with plenty of compelling storylines to consider.

As I watched this episode, I sincerely hoped this wouldn't be the last time I saw Luke Mably's Simon, as it's questionable whether the series will be picked up for a second season. I wasn't sure how much potential this character had when I viewed the pilot, but several weeks later, I only want more.

Simon was simply adorable as he tried to do the decent thing and not take advantage of a vulnerable Rebecca. Of course, it didn't take much convincing from her to push him over the edge. The snippet of a love scene that we got only whetted my appetite for the real thing.

And I couldn't believe Simon picked up a book and pretended to be reading...

"Reason to Believe" was easily one of the best Combat Hospital's of the season. From its tense Hurt Locker-like opening - with the horror of a bomb disposal gone wrong - to its emotional questions of faith, this hour hooked me from moment one and never let go.

We found Chaplain Marjorie Plotell having a crisis of faith. Apparently war is Hell, even on God. Somehow, as she watched Simon profess his arrogance in his skills as a surgeon, it only made her feel more inadequate. 

Simon was in rare form tonight. He labeled Dobbs' pieces of broken vertebrae "annoying" and was sure he could save the use of the man's arms. Thankfully, Simon's skill and talent were able to keep up with his ego since it was a surgery he'd never before performed.

Last year, ABC had some success with Rookie Blue, a cop drama that's produced north of the border, in Canada. It's already been renewed for a third season. This summer, the network began airing another Canadian show, Combat Hospital. Combat hospital returned for its second episode this week, as the doctors fought the "Enemy Within." As much as I wanted to get excited about this show, I'm disappointed to find it rather ordinary.

It's not terrible. In fact, the cast is quite likable. I think I could watch Elias Koteas (Col. Marks) read the phone book and be interested. And Luke Mably's accent alone should be enough to keep me entertained.

What I'm looking for from Combat Hospital is drama, though, and I simply don't feel it. It's set in a war zone. I want to feel that intensity, but just isn't there.

Take the women's clinic story. It's a fantastic concept and should be dramatic and insightful. Instead, we got Rebecca playing hero by sneaking the young lady onto the military base dressed as a soldier. There were no real consequence to her actions. Yes, Marks gave her a minor dressing down,...

Canada has a new millionaire TV series in terms of ratings.

The Canadian medical drama Combat Hospital debuted yesterday in Canada on Global, a TV network, with over 2 million viewers. This is the second highest-rated premiere behind Rookie Blue, another original drama from Global.

Besides, Combat Hospital was the most watched show last night in Canada. We remind you that Rookie Blue will premiere tomorrow at 10 Pm on Global.

There's always been something about war shows that I've been drawn to. As a kid, I couldn't get enough of M*A*S*H. Much later, I adored China Beach, so it's no surprise that I was quick to watch ABC's new summer drama, Combat Hospital.

The "series premiere" is set in a military hospital outside of Kandahar, Afghanistan in 2006 and follows doctors and nurses from several Allied, English speaking countries. 

We follow Canadian surgeon Major Rebecca Gordon as she arrives via military transport. You'd think that landing in the middle of a war zone would be the focus of her attention. Instead, she's trying to take a pregnancy test while they land.

I'm sure it's a hell of a long flight. Does she really have to wait for them to be doing evasive maneuvers while they land to perform that test?

Chicago – Is there a script doctor in the house? ABC is in dire need of one. How could the network possibly greenlight “Combat Hospital” in light of its recently botched, strikingly similar effort, “Off the Map”? Both shows fail to mine the potential drama in their inherently dramatic premises. Medical clinics in the South American jungle or an Afghanistan war zone should have no time or patience for melodramatic soap opera.

That being said, “Hospital” is a slight improvement over “Map,” despite its generic title and lack of colorful locales. Set in a Nato Role 3 Multinational Medical Unit at Kandahar Airfield (reportedly modeled after a real-life clinic), the show has genuine potential to explore an assortment of intriguing conflicts. The premiere episode, “Welcome to Kandahar,” only hints at the possible directions that the program could take in order to prevent itself from becoming a standard medical drama destined for cancellation.

As the sun beats down on the expansive set meticulously lined with shipping containers, a military helicopter, blast walls and a sign that says 'Welcome to Kandahar Airfield,' it's easy to forget we're standing in the middle of Toronto and not out in the sweltering Afghan desert.

'Combat Hospital' stars movie vets Elias Koteas ('The Curious Case of Benjamin Button,' 'Shutter Island') and Deborah Kara Unger ('Crash,' 'The Hurricane') in their first TV roles. This isn't the first time they've worked together -- they both starred in David Cronenberg's 'Crash' in 1996, and were thrilled to team up again.

While a second season on ABC seems like a real long shot, ABC hasn't officially cancelled The Gates (unlike say, My Generation). One of the show's stars however has been told that there won't be a second season.

The Gates follows a Chicago police detective (Frank Grillo) who moves his family to a gated suburban community to become the neighborhood's security chief. They soon discover that their new neighbors aren't as normal as they appear to be. Throughout this first season of 'The Gates' (Sun., 10Pm on ABC), local witch Devon (Chandra West) had been stirring up trouble with just about everyone. Her misdeeds came back to haunt her in the finale, as the vampires decided it was time to do away with her for good.

Dylan (Luke Mably) and Claire Radcliffe (Rhona Mitra) arrived at her house to take care of the situation, but Chief Nick Monahan (Frank Grillo) stayed the execution. "My son is dying. She's the only one who can save him," he pleaded. But it proved only a temporary stay of execution, as the four were surrounded by vampires en route.

Nick and Dylan tried to use reason with the leader of the vampire group that stopped them, arguing that it doesn't have to be this way. Unfortunately, he proves less sympathetic to Nick's plight. "And unfortunately for you,...
