Don't be fooled by basic premise: Fox's Red Band Society isn't your typical teen drama, nor is it your typical medical show. Hailing from writer and executive producer Margaret Nagle and executive producer Steven Spielberg, Red Band Society stars The Help's Oscar winner Octavia Spencer as Nurse Jackson—sometimes referred to as "Scary Bitch"—and Brothers and Sisters veteran Dave Annable as Dr. Jack McAndrew, the two "authority figures" in Ocean Park Hospital. But don't expect death, melodrama and tears every week—or at all. "Well, I can tell you this. When you tune into a show, you know you want to be entertained. We're definitely entertaining people, but...

Mandy Moore is about to play doctor: The singer/actress has signed up for a recurring role on Fox’s upcoming hospital-set drama Red Band Society, the network announced today.

Moore—whose credits include Entourage, Grey’s Anatomy, and A Walk to Remember—will play Dr. Erin Grace, the chief of staff at Ocean Park Hospital, where an eclectic group of young patients are living (and bonding) in the pediatrics wing. Erin also happens to be the ex-fiancée of Dr. Jack McAndrew (Dave Annable), the country’s top pediatric surgeon who also works at the hospital.

Fox fall schedule revealed: 'Gotham' on Mondays
Donal Logue, Michael Kostroff, and Ben McKenzie in Pilot (2014)
Less animation, plenty of reality, and another two-hour comedy block reduced — those are some of the quick take-aways from Fox’s 2014 fall schedule announcement.

First up: On Mondays, the network will launch perhaps fall’s most-anticipated new drama, the Batman prequel series Gotham at 8 p.m. followed by the sophomore return of Sleepy Hollow at 9 p.m. Fox has ordered 16 episodes of Gotham and 18 episodes of Sleepy Hollow. On Tuesdays, ambitious new reality show Utopia, in which contestants try to build a perfect society over the course of a year, will open for New Girl and The Mindy Project (which...
