Written by Nick Saltrese (A Prayer Before Dawn) and directed by Joachim Hedén (Breaking Surface), the film is produced by Andrew Prendergast (Shark Bait), and Chris Reed (Shark Bait).
The pic stars Julian Sands (A Room with a View) in his last film role alongside Jack Parr (Peaky Blinders), Kim Spearman (As I Am), and Alexander Arnold (Yesterday). The movie shot in late 2022, just a few months before Sands went missing while hiking in California. The actor’s remains were found in June on Mount Baldy.

Exclusive: Art heist documentary to be sold by Metro International.
Metro International will give a premiere screening in Berlin to long-in-the-works art heist documentary The Banksy Job, which is due to be shown at one of the city’s art galleries.
The film charts the story behind an incident in London in 2004 when a sculpture by street artist Banksy was stolen by a group of eccentric ‘art terrorists’.
Ian Roderick Gray and Dylan Harvey direct, Christine Alderson (Snow In Paradise) and Alex Hurle of Ipso Facto Productions produce.
Will Machin, CEO of Metro International said: “We are really excited to be part of this celebration of street art and the cast of extraordinary characters involved in it. The filmmakers have toiled for four years to bring this unique story to the big screen, and Berlin, with its rich history of art, rebellion and counter-culture, is the perfect city for a private showcase of the film.”

Metro International has boarded sales ahead of the Efm on crime-comedy Mr. Cranky, which has Brendan Gleeson (In Bruges) on board to star as a crime boss debt collector with a raging temper who is saddled with an orphaned seven year old in the middle of a gangland war.
The Railway Man director Jonathan Teplizky is due to direct Chris Nyst’s (Crooked Business) script which is to be produced by Chris Brown (The Railway Man).

British films hoping to succeed in the international market must overcome production and distribution roadblocks in an increasingly competitive industry.
That was the message from the ‘Selling UK Films Abroad’ panel discussion co-hosted by Screen International and the UK Trade & Investment (Ukti) agency, held at London House, about how British films are faring abroad.
“You can’t have a weak link in a package anymore,” said Metro Films International CEO Will Machin, who is selling Michael Caton-Jones’ Urban Hymn in Toronto.
Stephen Kelliher, director of Bankside Films, noted that the bar is higher than ever and stated: “The bullseye for what works theatrically, British or not, has gotten smaller and smaller over recent years. You have to be in the top five to ten percent of movies to have any chance of truly working.”

Metro International’s thriller is written and directed by Wilson Coneybeare.
Brian Cox and Martin Freeman will star in American Hangman.
Metro International’s Us-based thriller is written and directed by playwright and documentarian Wilson Coneybeare, and centures on a kidnap plot that exploits the dark side of social media.
The Canadian/Irish co-production is being produced by Coneybeare, Meredith Fowler, Jeremy Tebbett and Colin Tebbett for a 2015 release.
Coneybeare commented: “I am thrilled to be able to work with talents as formidable as Martin Freeman and Brian Cox. The two will be together in every scene, playing off one another in a very tense situation, and I think everyone will relish the fireworks created by these two artists at the top of their game.”

Once again the European Film Promotion’s (Efp) Film Sales Support (Fss) initiative will come to Toronto to link sales companies from all over Europe to a great array of buyers from across the globe. Supported by the Media Programme of the European Union, Fss has now been aiding the European film industry fro the last 10 years.
"Toronto has and is an important informal market and an important festival for European films, the distributors see the films in a different mood, more quietly, the public screenings are working well. It is a key place to launch a film or to complete previous sales on films that were in Cannes, Venice, Locarno...” (Loïc Magneron, Wide)
“Tiff is a major pillar of the annual festival calendar. Aside from a proliferation of North American buyers, it also attracts top tier international distributors so a favorable reception at Tiff can significantly increase a film's commercial prospects”. (Andrew Orr, Independent)
Due to the limited amount of resources, only 52 out of the 60 films submitted to the Efp will receive financial support to be marketed during the Tiff, which runs from September 5 to 15. This year alone, 372 films total, over 150 from Europe, will screen at the festival many of which will see their world or international premiers there.

Exclusive: Metro International Entertainment is to handle world sales for Treasure Entertainment’s comedy The Stag, which makes its world premiere in the Discovery section of the Toronto International Film Festival.Click here to watch the first trailer
Metro International has also struck a significant all-rights deal for the UK and Ireland with Arrow Film Distributors. The deal was negotiated between Metro International partner Natalie Brenner and head of acquisitions Tom Stewart for Arrow Films.
“We are delighted to have our first sale for The Stag to be with Arrow,” said Metro International partner Will Machin. “Following their successful theatrical hit with Susanne Bier’s All You Need Is Love, it is clear Arrow is exactly the right distributor for The Stag.”

Teaming up with Michael Winterbottom, however, could be just what the doctor ordered for Black, who’ll appear in the director’s upcoming comedy “Bailout,” which was just acquired by Sony Pictures Worldwide, THR reports.
Winterbottom’s film adapts Jess Walter’s novel “The Financial Lives of the Poets,” about a 99-percenter who hits rock bottom – broke, unemployed, cheating wife and so on – who must go to extremes to get his life back on track. Shooting on the comedy begins January 2012, with additional cast members announced shortly.

Ealing Studios and The King's Speech financier Prescience has merged their respective sales arms. The companies previously worked together on both St. Trinian’s films, Dorian Gray and Easy Virtue. They say combining gives them “a unique advantage,” because of the money that Prescience brings to the table. They also said no jobs will be lost in the consolidation. “The beauty of this merger is that we now have access to Prescience’s money,” says Will Machin, Ealing’s head of distribution. Machin will run Ealing Metro. “There are very few companies in the indie marketplace that can offer what we can now.” Prescience has raised around $250 million to date through its Aegis Film Fund and Metropolis Media Eis tax fund. Ealing Metro will offer equity, gap financing and in some cases will put up minimum guarantee advances against international sales, the money that gets films rolling. The plan is...
