If an entirely new Harry Potter TV series wasn't enough, Audible will debut an ensemble cast audio dramatization of the beloved novels later this year.
The audio series follows in the footsteps of previous successful Audible dramas, such as 1984 and The Sandman, boasting a stellar cast with names such as Hugh Laurie as Albus Dumbledore, Matthew Macfadyen as Lord Voldemort, and Riz Ahmed as Professor Snape.
Another major casting sees Michelle Gomez take on the role of Hogwarts Professor Minerva McGonagall. Naturally, people have taken issue with yet another Harry Potter adaptation, and many have also thrown shade at the cast for taking part in an adaptation of J.K. Rowling's work.
In the case of Gomez, she quickly took to her Instagram Story (per Entertainment Weekly) to speak out against Rowling's anti-trans views.

Wherever the Harry Potterfranchise goes, controversy has seemed to follow, and the story is no different with the latest iteration of the Wizarding World. Michelle Gomez, who is set to portray Professor McGonagall in Audible's upcoming Harry Potter: The Full-Cast Audio Editionsaudiobook, has released a statement about the role. The project has generated controversy due to Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling'shistory of transphobic and anti-lgbtq+ comments.
"To my LGBTQ+ fans, and especially the trans community: I want to speak directly to the concerns that have been raised about my involvement in this project," Gomez said on her Instagram page. "I hear you, and I understand why this is painful for many. I want to be clear that I stand with trans people, and I support trans rights – fully and without hesitation." Gomez added:

These are the times of re-release. One day, you are checking BookMyShow and a film you watched on television, sneaking away as a young girl, returns. It does not have to be great or even good—you hope to go to the theatre and remember what it felt like before, or if you like it at all now. They are like former lovers: familiar, complicated, demanding we remember who we used to be. The studios call it nostalgia. The accountants call it revenue. I call it the failure of the present tense.

As filming continues on HBO’s new Harry Potter series, a surprising new video has fans buzzing — and it’s not from the set. The spotlight instead lands on a different adaptation: Harry Potter: The Full-Cast Audio Editions, Audible and Pottermore’s ambitious new reimagining of the classic novels. The cast features a star-studded roster of over 200 performers, but one name is generating particular excitement: Arabella Stanton, the young actress voicing Hermione Granger in the first three installments of the audio series.
In a new behind-the-scenes video released to promote the Audible project, Stanton appears alongside Frankie Treadaway (Harry Potter) and Max Lester (Ron Weasley) as the trio answer Potter-themed trivia questions. While all three are charming, Stanton’s performance is an undeniable standout — bursting with wit, confidence, and unmistakable Hermione energy. While HBO still celebrates the casting of its new Harry Potter trio, Arabella Stanton is on her second victory lap as Hermione Granger already. The 11-year-old British actress was announced as the nerdy successor to Emma Watson‘s Hogwarts character in HBO’s ambitious multi-season series this May (via Harry Potter).
A mere 2 months have passed, and Arabella Stanton now moves on to her second gig as Hermione Granger even before stepping over the threshold of Platform 9¾ at King’s Cross. While this gives the young actress a headstart over her peers at Hogwarts, a true fanatic would consider this exactly in tune with the personality of our favorite Muggle-born overachiever.

As the world gears up to watch the new — and already highly anticipated — Harry Potter TV series, Pottermore took the opportunity to announce the cast of yet another adaptation of the novel series written by J.K. Rowling. Titled Harry Potter: The Full-Cast Audio Editions, the project brought to life by Pottermore Publishing and Audible has rounded out a high-profile cast to bring the classic story to life in audio format. The new Audible editions start rolling out this November.
The new version differs from traditional audiobook readings because it features a full cast of 200+ voice actors, whereas the common practice is to have one person reading the full content. Pottermore Publishing spared no expense when selecting the main cast members for the project: Hugh Laurie (House) will play Albus Dumbledore, Riz Ahmed (Sound of Metal) will voice Severus Snape, and Michelle Gomez (Doctor Who) will embody fan favorite Professor McGonagall.

Right now, the Harry Potter franchise is entering a new era. The beloved original movies are all over a decade old at this point, and they still remain a cultural behemoth. Yet still, an all-new live-action adaptation has already begun filming, coming to HBO in 2027. And that's not all: Audible will soon debut a full-cast audio drama of the books.
Of course, Harry Potter has been around in audiobook form for years and years. Look no further than the version narrated by Stephen Fry, which is probably the most famous audiobook version of the story. However, the new project being cooked up by Audible is far from a traditional audiobook; it's a full-blown, ensemble cast audio dramatization. It adapts all seven novels in immersive Dolby Atmos, with an original score and real-world sound effects.

Jane Austen’s most celebrated work has returned, this time in the form of a Netflix series. Casting for the new Pride and Prejudice has included some big names, and now even more have been added to the cast. After announcements that Emma Corrin would be taking over the role of Elizabeth Bennet and the incomparable Olivia Colman would take on her mother, Rufus Sewell has joined the family as Mr. Bennet. On the less beloved side of the spectrum is the character of Mr. Whickham, who Enola Holmes’own Louis Partridge will portray.

“You must know it was all for you. If your feelings are still what they were, please tell me so at once. My affections and wishes have not changed, but one word from you will silence me forever. If, however, your feelings have changed, I will have to tell you: you have bewitched me, body and soul, and I love you. I never wish to be parted from you from this day on.”
These lines may feel familiar as we revisit the tall, handsome, and noble Mr. Fitzwilliam Darcy. This dialogue comes from the 2005 film adaptation of Pride and Prejudice, which, in 2025, marks its 20th anniversary. The novel Pride and Prejudice has been adapted for the screen numerous times since the 1940s, each offering a distinct interpretation of Austen’s world. However, the 2005 film, directed by Joe Wright, stands out as a remarkable reinvention that brings a fresh, modern charm to the classic tale.

One of the longest-running sitcoms in television history, It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, has been pushing boundaries since it first premiered on FX back in 2005. The dark comedy has built a cult following over the years by embracing bad behavior, inappropriate humor, and a fearless attitude toward satire. It’s the kind of show many argue shouldn’t work in today’s climate, yet somehow it continues to thrive.
For nearly two decades, It’s Always Sunny has stayed remarkably consistent in tone, style, and structure. One of its most iconic elements? That upbeat, classical theme song contrasts perfectly with whatever unhinged chaos follows. But in Season 17, Episode 4, the gang did something unthinkable. They broke a 17-year tradition. And they didn’t just do it for shock value. They did it to take a shot at modern prestige TV.

And they didn’t just do it for shock value. They did it to take a shot at modern prestige TV.

When it comes to book adaptations, fans of the literature are the hardest to please. And when it comes to fans of classics like Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice, well, the expectations are mounting, and it is something that Netflix is about to taste soon, given that it is currently making a six-episode series on the novel, which, to be frank, no one asked for.
Given how Netflix treated the adaptation of Austen’s other iconic novel, Persuasion, understandably, the fandom isn’t happy. While fans still had hopes, expecting the streaming giant would have learned something from the 2022 Dakota Johnson-starrer film, the streamer recently revealed one detail that is already stirring controversy: excluding the most famous moments in British period drama history.

It’s the year 2025 and we are blessed with not one, and dare we say not even two, but three new Jane Austen adaptations. Ms. Austen herself turns 250 years old this year, and it’s not a moment too soon to celebrate the life and works of the iconic author.
Now, exactly two decades after Joe Wright’s “Pride & Prejudice” made cinematic history with the Darcy (Mathew Macfadyen) hand flex seen ’round the world, there are a number of modern adaptations in the works, not to mention other recent works inspired by her life and most beloved novels, from the film “Jane Austen Wrecked My Life” to the series “Miss Austen.”

In order to get the perfect shot in a movie, that sometimes means waking up at dawn, or worse, before dawn. The cast in the scene, the crew involved to prep, the director, everyone up when the last thing people are thinking of is being conscious. In the 2005 adaptation of the Jane Austen novel, Pride & Prejudice, one of the most iconic scenes was filmed at, you guessed it, the crack of dawn. It's the scene where Mr. Darcy (Matthew Macfadyen) confesses his love to Elizabeth Bennet (Keira Knightley) as the morning sun rises. Macfadyen's Darcy utters the swoon-worthy iconic words, "You have bewitched me, body and soul, and I love... I love... I love you."
Despite the intimacy of the one-on-one scene between Lizzie Bennet and Mr. Darcy, in actuality, in addition to of course, the crew, Knightley and Macfadyen weren't as long as the scene would suggest. In a recent Variety's Actors on Actors,...

When Pride & Prejudice hit theatres in 2005, it felt like a fresh breeze through a timeless take. Starring actress Keira Knightley and Matthew Macfadyen, the movie brought Jane Austen’s beloved characters to life with rich visuals and a modern energy that somehow didn’t lose the vibe of the original.
And all of this was only possible because of screenwriter Deborah Moggach. While many expected a reinvented Jane Austen story to suit contemporary taste, Moggach had something else in mind. Let’s dive deeper!
Deborah Moggach believed Jane Austen’s Pride & Prejudice story was already perfect
Pride & Prejudice completely transformed cinema when it was released in 2005. Based on the work of Jane Austen, it captivated everyone from the get-go. It was definitely a masterpiece, and when screenwriter Deborah Moggach was asked to write the screenplay, she did everything in her power not to mess with the original.

Now the fan-favorite feature is available to stream on HBO Max.

If you’ve ever binge-watched Succession and found yourself both terrified and weirdly obsessed with Shiv Roy, you’re not alone. Sarah Snook absolutely ate in that role, delivering ice-cold stares, corporate savagery, and power suits with the kind of precision that made Shiv one of TV’s most unforgettable characters. Behind all that boardroom bravado, though? A wildly talented Aussie actress with layers we rarely see offscreen.
Sarah didn’t just play the game; she redefined it. And while we know her as the cunning Roy sibling who could emotionally devastate someone with a single eyebrow raise, there’s so much more to her than HBO boardrooms and billion-dollar backstabs.
From almost turning down the role that changed her life to memorizing 60,000 words while literally breastfeeding, proving she’s that girl. We dug up some seriously unexpected facts about Sarah Snook that’ll leave you even more obsessed. Let’s get into it.

Because "Succession" began its run in 2018 in the shadow of HBO juggernauts like "Game of Thrones," which was drawing to a close and ultimately ended in 2019, I feel like it didn't get a ton of attention while everyone was laser-focused on Westeros and who would end up atop the Iron Throne. As "Succession" continued, though, Jesse Armstrong's show about an evil, super-wealthy family who also happen to be fighting over a seat to a throne — though it's a bit more metaphorical than the one in "Game of Thrones" — picked up traction, and before long, it became yet another massive critical and commercial success for HBO.
Armstrong and his talented team of writers and directors introduced the world to the powerful Roy family, the patriarch of whom — Logan, played imperiously by Brian Cox — runs a massive media and entertainment company called Waystar RoyCo.

Exclusive: A sought after drama project from The Loudest Voice co-creator Alex Metcalf has landed at HBO for development. Titled Baby Queen, it is based on the upcoming debut novel of the same name by southern crime fiction writer Ty Landers. The book became a hot commodity; its rights sparked a 10-way bidding war won by Michael Ellenberg’s Media Res (The Morning Show) which set up the project at HBO with Jessica Rhoades’ Pacesetter Productions (Black Mirror) also producing.
Written by Metcalf based on Landers’ novel, Baby Queen centers on Natalie Link who returns home to take over her family’s honey business — but when a body is discovered on the property, three generations of women are forced to confront the secrets, betrayals, and buried crimes that haunt their Southern legacy.
The novel is set in Landers’ home state of Alabama.

Nicole Kidman has offered an exciting update on Practical Magic 2. The Oscar winner is set to reunite with co-star Sandra Bullock on the long-awaited sequel.
The follow-up to 1998's hit supernatural comedy landed a 2026 release date, with Bird Box and The Night Manager filmmaker Susanne Bier stepping in for original director Griffin Dunne. Kidman and Bullock have both worked with Bier before — on Netflix original series The Perfect Couple and 2018 movie Bird Box, respectively. Like the original, Practical Magic 2 is based on characters created by author Alice Hoffman in her 1995 novel of the same name.
Practical Magic Hits Theaters in 2026
Kidman offered some brief comments about the project during an appearance the 78th annual Cannes Film Festival on Saturday (May 18), according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Jesse Armstrong is back at HBO — just not with a “Succession” spinoff. The series creator makes his feature directorial debut with HBO Original film “Mountainhead,” which takes a more head-on approach to satirizing the elite. Steve Carell, Jason Schwartzman, Ramy Youssef, and Cory Michael Smith star as four tech moguls whose bro trip gets derailed after a global financial meltdown ensues. Did they cause it? With a combined net worth of nearly $400 billion between the pals, who is really to say…
The film’s official logline reads: “A group of billionaire friends get together against the backdrop of a rolling international crisis.” Armstrong writes, directs, and executive produces the film, which was shot in Park City, Utah.
The project also reunites seven-time Emmy winner and Oscar-nominated Armstrong with his fellow “Succession” producers Frank Rich, Lucy Prebble, and producer/director Mark Mylod. Both Rich and Armstrong have overall deals at HBO.
