The tech-noir space has seen its fair share of big names over the years, like Westworld, Mr. Robot, and Black Mirror. Unfortunately, there was one that showed promise before its run was cut short, and that’s – Altered Carbon. This Netflix show, starring Anthony Mackie and based on the novel by English author Richard K. Morgan, showed us a dystopian world where consciousness could be transferred to other bodies. Sounds scary, doesn’t it?
Before we proceed, lets define “tech-noir”. Tech-noir is a sub-genre of science fiction that combines elements of film noir with advanced technology, often showcasing its darker and bleak side. If this is your cup of tea and you’ve exhausted all the big shows, we’ve got you covered with a few underrated gems that might have gone under your radar.

Did you hate the ending of "Game of Thrones?" You're not alone! Most fans, including myself, think that final season — and its series finale, "The Iron Throne" — was dreadful, rushed garbage, even if there are some defenders amongst my lovely colleagues here at /Film. Apparently, "the show's finale-haters can include Natalia Tena in our club.
Tena, who played the wildling Osha on the series until her character was violently killed off in the show's sixth season, told Kate Thornton on her podcast, "White Wine Question Time," in 2019 that she lost her patience with "Game of Thrones" partway through its final season and basically just flew into a rage after that. As Tena told Thornton, she was pretty much on board with the whole thing up until the episode where Arya Stark (Maisie Williams) saves humankind by slaying the Night King (Vladimir Furdyk), the event that marks the halfway point of that final season.

When one thinks of Charlie Vickers, his role in Medici isn’t the first thing that pops into their head. Rings of Power is his most popular work, with the role of Sauron helping him break into the mainstream. However, long before he starred in The Lord of the Rings spin-off, he played the role of Guglielmo Pazzi in the second season of the period series. Considering that both shows have similar themes of different eras, their Rotten Tomatoes scores showcase something very interesting about critics and audiences.
Where RoP is loved by critics, sitting at an 84% rating, the audience gave it a concerning 49%. Medici, on the other hand, had the opposite problem. While the critics gave the series a 50% rating, audiences loved it enough to award it with 83%. With this, one cannot help but wonder about the reasoning behind it.

The Fantastic Four: First Steps North America Day 8 Update ( Photo Credit – X )
The Fantastic Four: First Steps is entering its second weekend with a winning feat. The film has surpassed the domestic haul of Eternals and will also beat Captain America: The First Avenger during this weekend. However, the decline from the first weekend was harsh, raising concerns among fans. Keep scrolling for the deets.
The MCU movie will also outpace Brad Pitt’s F1: The Movie and climb the 2025 top-grossers list at the domestic box office. It will edge closer to the $200 million milestone during this weekend, and with that, it will beat Thunderbolts*. At this pace, it might end up earning less than Superman at the end of the theatrical run. But let’s wait until the end and see what happens.

While plans for Bond 26 are quickly gaining pace, Spider-Man star Tom Holland has responded to rumors that he is in contention for the hotly contested role. Set to be directed by Dune’s Denis Villeneuve, news only recently broke that Peaky Blinders creator Steven Knight had been tapped to write the next entry in the long-running spy franchise.
However, before Knight’s recent appointment as the Bond 26 screenwriter, reports intimated that Amazon MGM studios were potentially looking to cast an actor under 30 years of age as the next 007, and had named Holland, Saltburn’s Jacob Elordi, and Babygirl’s Harris Dickinson at the top of their James Bond shortlist.
During an appearance on chef Gordon Ramsay’s YouTube channel, Holland sought to downplay rumors of his inclusion on the 007 casting shortlist. Suggesting that they should keep the speculation to a minimum, Holland hinted that the actual answer...

Over the years, Cinderella has had many adaptations. The folk story of a young girl living in unfortunate circumstances and blessed with a life-changing decision after marrying has been around for centuries, although it's mostly famous thanks to the Disney adaptation.
Cinderella was adapted into opera, theater, musicals, films, and TV. Walt Disney entered the conversation in 1950, giving the character, who is now considered one of the Disney Princesses, her first adaptation. Jennifer Lopez has been interested in a new version of the story for years, and she is now partnering with Disney+ for a new version, Deadline reports.
Lopez has been attached to the limited series based on Rodgers & Hammerstein’s Cinderella since May 2022. The singer and actress' production company, Nuyorican Productions, was working with Skydance Television and Concord Originals. The same production companies are still attached to the project, which has now officially landed at Disney+.

Both Kit Harington and Sophie Turner played two iconic characters in ‘Game of Thrones,’ – Jon Snow and Sansa Stark. The two were raised as siblings despite the messed-up family tree, which is a staple for the fantasy show.
Now, Turner and Harington will soon be seen romancing each other in a film by Natasha Kermani.
For a segment with Vogue, the actress talked about the upcoming film while making pasta and demonstrating the dos and don’ts of the process. Dressed in a Jw Anderson sequinned pink dress, Turner revealed that she filmed the movie with Harington last year, and pointed out the absurdity of it all, given the fact that they played siblings in their last project.

For the first time in weeks, The Accountant 2 has been displaced from the top spot on the Prime Video streaming charts. The movie that did it was Heads of State, an action comedy starring John Cena, Idris Elba, and Priyanka Chopra Jonas. It shot straight to the number one spot after debuting midweek on the streaming service, and appears to be holding its position. Heads of State features Cena as the President of the United States, who gets lost in Europe after an attack on Air Force One with only Elba's British Prime Minister for company. The trouble is that they don't exactly see eye to eye. This is where Chopra Jonas' MI6 agent comes in.
According to FlixPatrol, Heads of State earned 505 points on its first day of release on Prime Video, and 510 points on its second. On both days, The Accountant 2 finished second on the charts.

Stories set in space are a dime a dozen. Some space sagas dwell on unknowable mysteries (which are best left unexplored), while others take a more personal approach, presenting the discomfiting opportunity to look deeper within. Many of these stories also emphasize human perseverance, underlining our collective triumph over what's out there.
But Stanisław Lem's sci-fi novel "Solaris" (which spawned both a George Clooney-led Hollywood adaptation and an Andrei Tarkovsky classic) doesn't have much hope for humanity. It explores the futility of communicating with extraterrestrial life and how utterly misguided such an endeavor would be. In "Solaris," rationality and science can only get you so far, as some truths are not meant to be comprehended by the human mind. So, when scientists arrive at the Solaris Station to continue investigating the titular sentient planet, they are faced with a psychological mirror that nearly breaks their fragile sense of self.

Netflix is back in the TV thriller business with a new streaming series that will have audiences at the edge of their seats. The company has revealed that they are releasing an eight-episode television event written by the creator behind Bodyguard, the acclaimed BBC series that has a 93% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
The streamer announced that Gugu Mbatha-Raw and Richard Madden are set to lead Trinity, an upcoming thriller series that hails from Bodyguard creator Jed Mercurio. Cinematic Universes are one of the hottest topics to debate on the Internet over the last half decade, largely due to the Marvel model consuming so many executives' imaginations over that span, and there are still folks out there trying to make fetch happen. But, what if an attempt at creating the next big pop culture obsession isn't an outright bomb and instead becomes a middle-of-the-road streaming success story? Well, that's exactly what happened to Amazon's "Citadel" and a huge reason why Prime Video opted to cancel "Citadel: Honey Bunny" and "Citadel: Diana."
"Citadel" was a massive undertaking for Prime Video, as they enlisted pop culture hitmakers Joe and Anthony Russo to design a sleek spy franchise for their streaming service, and there were lofty plans. The James Bond franchise is undergoing arguably its biggest shake-up in history. As well as Daniel Craig being replaced as the eponymous spy, the franchise is under new ownership, with Amazon MGM Studios having bought the rights to the IP earlier this year. With the next movie currently in development, all eyes are on who will play the next James Bond. Every fan has their favorite pick. One fan who knows a thing or two about being a good 007 is Pierce Brosnan, who played the iconic character four times on the big screen, and the Irish star has defined what makes an actor worthy of taking on the mantle.
During an interview with MovieWeb's George Edelman, Pierce Brosnan discussed the future of James Bond and what the next actor to play the role will need in order to succeed. Much like Bond himself, Brosnan's advice was no-nonsense and to the point.

We've all heard tales, throughout the years, of the original "Game of Thrones" pilot and how much it absolutely stunk ... and apparently, Kit Harington, who played assumed Stark bastard Jon Snow in both the botched pilot and the entire series, had a bad feeling about it pretty early on.
In an Esquire profile in the April 2019 issue of GQ (about a month before "Game of Thrones" concluded with its eighth and final season), Harington revealed photos of his time on the "Game of Thrones" set to interviewer Bruce Handy, which apparently included a shot of the original table read for that awful pilot. As Harington showed off a picture of himself and his co-stars Richard Madden and Alfie Allen, who went on to play Robb Stark and Theon Greyjoy, he mused about the pilot that, thankfully, never saw the light of day.

After Daniel Craig said goodbye to his legendary role in 2021's No Time to Die, James Bond is returning with a new face. While fans anxiously await who will be the next lead of the longtime movie franchise, a new face will portray 007. However, it won't be on the big screen, as the company behind the Hitman video game series is tackling the iconic spy in an upcoming Aaa title.
Io Interactive has officially unveiled 007 First Light, an upcoming video game based on the James Bond franchise. Unlike previous adaptations, it will feature a new face in the titular role. It's unclear who has been cast as Bond, but per the official description, 007 First Light features "a wholly original Bond origin story." There is a chance that players will be able to create their own custom version of 007, but it is unlikely at this point. Io Interactive is planning...

If you’re a fan of Black Mirror, you might be wondering what could fill the void of the sci-fi viewing lineup since the end of season 7. While Black Mirror has become the go-to for dark, tech-driven cautionary tales, there’s another anthology series that deserves fans’ attention but has not quite gotten its due.
With Bryan Cranston both starring and producing, this show brings mind-bending stories of one of the greatest sci-fi authors, Philip K. Dick. While it shares Black Mirror‘s focus on technology’s impact on society, this show offers a bit more hope and humanity. And the series is Electric Dreams, a perfect alternative for sci-fi fans.

We've heard conflicting reports about an Eternals sequel over the years, but at this stage, another movie revolving around the team of immortal androids is looking less and less likely. That doesn't mean we won't see any of the characters again, however.
According to Alex Perez in his latest Discord Q&a, the Eternals "are not done for. There’ll be more about it in the next saga."
Eternals has its defenders, but it's hardly surprising that Marvel isn't in any rush to revisit these characters. Chloé Zhao's divisive 2021 superhero epic not only had the dubious honor of being the first Marvel Studios movie to drop to "rotten" status on review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes, but also finishing up its U.S. run with a disappointing $164.9 million to give it one of the lowest domestic hauls of any McU-set film.

Everything and anything can change in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. This is after all the world in which a giant purple alien can snap his fingers and make half the universe disappear! And that's what makes the Marvel Studios franchise so edge-of-seat; you simply never know what's going to happen next.
That's been on true on the business side of things too in recent years. As the studio continues to navigate this new, ever-changing era of various forms of content, it must produce multiple movies and Disney Plus shows a year. And this increased exposure has resulted in some highs and lows for the franchise, which have forced it to pivot some of its earlier plans for the Multiverse Saga.
This reportedly resulted in the cancellation of a number of sequels and spinoffs for multiple MCU characters. The good news is that this doesn't necessarily mean we've seen the last of these characters.

Fans think starring in one of the biggest shows on television would make someone rich in an instant, but for Richard Madden, he had to swallow his pride and accept peanuts as payment for his iconic appearance in Game of Thrones. Yes, that HBO series with a humongous budget allegedly could not afford to pay Madden his worth.
That frustrated the actor so much that, at one point, he did not care whether or not his costars were paid more than him. As long as he’s getting the right amount of paycheck, then he’s good. Still, he’s thankful for the opportunity that the show has given him.

There’s one scene in Game of Thrones that shook fans to the core – and it turns out, it rattled George R.R. Martin too. You might think the man behind so many plot twists would be used to shocking moments by now. But the Red Wedding was so brutal and emotionally charged that he actually held off writing it for a long time.
And honestly, who can blame him? It’s one of the most heartbreaking sequences in the entire series. But what made this scene so personally challenging for the man who created it? Let’s break it down.

Morgan Freeman Wearing His Signature Gold Earring (Photo Credit – Instagram)
Whenever Morgan Freeman steps into the frame, chances are high that the first thing your eyes may land on, aside from the quiet weight of his presence, is that glint of gold on his ear. Not many people realize that it’s been there longer than most people have been alive.
The earring isn’t a late-career accessory or a celebrity quirk. For Freeman, it has been constant and it carries a story deeper than most would guess.

Game of Thrones Changed Richard Madden’s Life ( Photo Credit – Instagram )
Before Richard Madden wore a crown as Robb Stark, he was flat broke, like “one meal or one pint”. Today, he’s known for headlining global hits and winning Golden Globes, but rewind the clock, and it was a very different story. Back in the early 2010s, Madden was just another struggling actor barely scraping by in London. He opened up about that grind during a past visit to The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon (via People), which still feels fresh today.
He remembered living off roughly five dollars a day, rationing between food and fun. “I had two options: I could either buy one meal, or a newspaper and a pint,” he told Fallon. “It went the other way usually.” Things got so tight that he was also running out of rent money. “I was on my last month’s rent,...

He remembered living off roughly five dollars a day, rationing between food and fun. “I had two options: I could either buy one meal, or a newspaper and a pint,” he told Fallon. “It went the other way usually.” Things got so tight that he was also running out of rent money. “I was on my last month’s rent,...

Once a BBC original, the series is set in London and follows David Budd, a war veteran now serving as a Specialist Protection Officer with the Metropolitan Police. Amazon MGM Studios Distribution, led by Chris Ottinger, head of worldwide distribution for the relatively new division, has started making the studio’s highest profile – and said to be costliest – titles “The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power” and “Citadel,” available to third parties. These are joined by two upcoming series, the graphic novel based-spy thriller series “Butterfly” and the action series “Countdown,” starring Jensen Ackles (“The Boys”).
The latter two titles will be available 18 months after their season runs, following the traditional window release pattern. “Countdown” drops in late June while “Butterfly” debuts later in the summer. Buyer feedback for these shows was very positive during the company’s LA Screenings presentation, according to Ottinger.
Speaking of the “Lord of the Rings” franchise, Ottinger said: “We would want premium pricing because it’s a premium product. Season 1 of ‘The Rings of Power’was the biggest TV series...

James Bond odds are more volatile than a rogue agent in the field, and the reason for certain stars becoming a new “favorite” get more and more outlandish and speculative the longer the search for Daniel Craig’s successor in the role goes on. While Richard Madden has once again leaped up in betting odds, it seems that another “favorite” for the role has been boosting his chances – according to some – in a different way to simply giving cryptic answers on red carpets or having his odds slashed. Yes, Aaron Taylor-Johnson is once again on everyone’s lips to have secretly become the new Bond already after signing a deal with the franchise’s official watchmakers, Omega.
Yes folks, that is where we are now at when it comes to the casting of the next 007. If anyone so much as wipes their nose on a brand of tissue that was...

The competition for who will play the next James Bond seems to be a pretty close one at present, with the likes of former Superman Henry Cavill, The Gentlemen star Theo James, and Bullet Train’s Aaron Taylor-Johnson usually topping the list. But now we have a new name slowly making his way up the ranking, and no doubt many fans would be eternally grateful if he were to win the 007 role in Amazon’s upcoming reboot.
Game of Thrones and Eternals star Richard Madden is now back in the fray, with his odds improving recently (via Paddy Power). Now standing at 12/1, Madden, who has shown off his affinity for action before in both the MCU, action thriller The Take, and the TV series Bodyguard, has been rumored for the role in the past and now joins the likes of Callum Turner, James Norton, and Tom Hardy as a fellow frontrunner.
