As Horizon: An American Saga remains in the proverbial barn waiting to come out following Chapter 1's release, one of the film's stars rounds up some good news regarding its future. Star Danny Huston offers an encouraging progress report on one of the upcoming sequels in Kevin Costner's four-part affair.
Speaking with Screen Rant, Huston revealed that "a lot" of Chapter 3 has been filmed, despite production on the third installment in the Horizon series stalling temporarily due to financial issues. According to the Golden Globe-nominated actor, Chapter 3 is coming together well as he praised Costner for his creative vision for the extensive feature-length project.
"I think he's got a lot of Chapter 3 in the can, actually. But there's no stopping him. He's just unbelievable, and this dream of his is coming to life in a spectacular way. It's just extraordinary what he does," Huston said.

Kevin Costner may have bid the Dutton ranch goodbye after the final season of Yellowstone concluded last year, but the Taylor Sheridan veteran isn’t ready to say goodbye to Westerns anytime soon. Costner even left Yellowstone to work on Horizon: An American Saga, which he has hailed as the biggest passion project of his career. Chapter 1 of the sweeping Western epic debuted last year to middling reviews and poor box office returns, which led to its already-filmed sequel being completely pulled from the release schedule. Nearly a full year later, it’s still unclear as to when it’s going to be released. Speaking to ScreenRant to promote Consecration, Horizon star Danny Huston expressed a positive outlook on the future of the Horizon franchise, despite the recent turmoil:
"I am absolutely bated breath anticipating. I can't wait to see the second chapter. It's such a big document, an epic dream of a film.

A horror movie from 17 years ago, The Ruins, has found a new streaming home, and it will give fans another chance to see why this film was so scary. The Ruins is the feature directorial debut of Carter Smith, based on the novel and screenplay by Scott B. Smith. It follows two couples who visit a remote Mayan ruin in Mexico, only to learn to their horror that it is inhabited by a man-eating vine growth, which then targets them. With native villagers not allowing them to leave, these couples have to fight for their survival.
The acting talent included mostly fresh faces for 2008, with Jena Malone, Jonathan Tucker, Laura Ramsey, and The Rookie's Shawn Ashmore playing the two couples and Joe Anderson playing Mathias, a man looking for his missing brother. This horror film was a box office disappointment when it came out, not making back its budget,...

Supporters of Hollywood legend Kevin Costner should hurry and catch the actor/director's latest film soon, as it's about to make a major streaming departure. Costner's ill-fated passion project, Horizon: An American Saga, receives more bad news as Chapter 1 of the Western drama film series is set to leave Netflix this summer.
Per Collider, Netflix has confirmed that Chapter 1 of Horizon will leave its platform on Jul. 15, giving fans around four weeks to catch the film on the streaming service before it's gone. Chapter 1 premiered via Netflix last December, months after its streaming debut on Max.

How would the modern world respond if a fallen angel walked among us? Would science attempt to rationalise it, while religion clung tighter to dogma or would both implode under the weight of something truly unexplainable? These are the philosophical and theological underpinnings that Chris Smith’s Consecration grapples with, sometimes subtly, sometimes overtly, in what is arguably his most thematically ambitious film since Black Death.
Jena Malone stars as Grace, a determined and emotionally guarded ophthalmologist who is pulled into the cloistered world of Mount Saviour convent in the Scottish Highlands after the suspicious death of her brother, a Catholic priest. Few romance genre movies come close to the 2005s Jane Austen adaptation of Pride and Prejudice. Almost everything about that movie is perfect, from Keira Knightley and Matthew Macfadyen’s casting to its quotable dialogues, to the climactic pouring rain scene – it’s always a great watch and the movie is currently celebrating its 20th anniversary this year. Now the fan-favorite feature is available to stream on HBO Max.
Back in 2005, the BBC adaptation spoke to modern times and defined love for a generation. As one of the beloved romance films, Pride and Prejudice is Austen’s best adaptation of love and misunderstanding, bedazzled with romance, wit, and an emotional core. Directed by Joe Wright, the feature follows Elizabeth Bennet (Knightley), who meets the handsome Mr. Darcy (Macfadyen) and feels he is the last man on earth she could ever marry. Thanks to her family’s pressure, when their lives become intertwined,...

Grace, an ophthalmologist’s assistant, exists in a world of measurable science and observable truths. Her life is upended by a call informing her that her brother, a priest, has died violently at a remote convent on Scotland’s Isle of Skye.
The official report is a murder-suicide. Grace’s immediate rejection of this fact is absolute; her brother was a man of deep faith, incapable of such an act. This disbelief propels her across a cultural and spiritual threshold.
She leaves the secular logic of her life behind to enter an isolated enclave of fervent Catholicism, a place where faith and horror are intertwined. Her quest for answers pits the modern, rational mind against an ancient, dogmatic institution.

Purest hokum, of course, but what hokum! Real pride has gone into crafting this set of shocks, and it’s very well acted in beautiful locations
This is the way the world ends, not with a bang but a wimple. In this well-crafted horror movie, a young woman called Grace (Jena Malone) finds herself up against a bunch of nuns who may or may not be trying to do something extremely dodgy with an unknown relic, and as with last year’s Omen prequel, there’s a nice line in casting here from the Ladybird Book of Horror Nuns. There’s dotty young nun who pops up going “peekaboo” (Eilidh Fisher), an arrogant mother superior (Janet Suzman), a hardliner weapon-of-Christ sort (Jolade Obasola), and the rather rarer spooky nun with one eye hidden behind an ominous white bandage (Alexandra Lewis). Their acting is uniformly excellent, as is that from Danny Huston,...

Jason Schwartzman was supposed to lead the star-studded cast of Richard Kelly’s Donnie Darko. He expressed interest in the script and agreed to play Donnie, but he eventually had to drop out due to scheduling conflicts. It was at this point that Gyllenhaal got his hands on the script and was mesmerised by it. He once said that he pulled over to the side of the road to finish reading it.
Donnie Darko is one of those rare sci-fi psychological thrillers that leave the viewers with more questions than answers. However, the film received poor reviews at the Sundance Film Festival, following which Kelly found it hard to find U.S. distributors for the film. While its initial theatrical gross was a measly sum, the film went on to attain more money on reissues and a cult status.

Kevin Costner's Western film series, Horizon: An American Saga, keeps being saddled with issues -- and the future beyond 2024's first installment looks bleak. With part two of the four-part blockbuster still yet to get a theatrical release, one of its stars has given a "frustrating" update on its status and what's happening with the rest of the Horizon slate.
Speaking with Screen Rant at the premiere of Tyler Perry's Straw, Horizon actor Glynn Turman revealed that "not a thing" has been shared with him about Horizon since Chapter 1 hit theaters last June. However, he's hopeful Chapter 2 will soon see the light of day. “They started filming Part 3. I don’t know if they’ve continued it," he added. Vertigo Releasing has announced that Christopher Smith’s religious horror Consecration will make its UK digital debut on 16 June, bringing a haunting tale of murder, memory and ecclesiastical corruption to audiences at home. The film stars Jena Malone as Grace, a trauma-stricken woman drawn into the labyrinthine secrets of a remote Scottish convent following the suspicious death of her brother, a Catholic priest.

As the next chapter of Horizon: An American Saga awaits new pastures, Kevin Costner's passion project is now saddled with legal drama. Costner faces an arbitration claim from New Line Cinema amid allegations that his company breached a financial deal with the studio.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, New Line filed a claim against Costner's loan-out firm, Horizon Series, claiming the award-winning actor/director's company compromised their co-financing agreement for the Horizon films. This legal issue was initiated after City National Bank began arbitration proceedings against Horizon Series and New Line, with the latter filing a crossclaim seeking repayment from Costner's firm as part of its defense. The deal between Horizon and the Warner Bros.-owned New Line required each party to pay a part of the financing. Though New Line believed everything was covered, including paying the portion Horizon didn't pay, City National Bank stated they were owed more money.

"And then what happened?" "It was a moment of true liberation from the ego mind." Don't you want to find out more? Will you be forever changed by this story? Dive in and find out. Heroic Dose is a hilarious new comedy short film created and directed by a filmmaker known as Dugan Gundelfinger (yep that's his real name). This his "opus", an autobiographical tale of the time he tripped on way too much acid. "A genre bending comedic retelling of the time I had a psychedelic-induced mystical journey exploring the ego mind, 'reality' and the cosmic joke of the human experience..." During a dinner gathering discussing trying drugs, Gundelfinger tells his story of the time he was given a "heroic dose" LSD and went hard on psychedelics. It's not exactly meant to be a philosophical film (though I do like his idea about the "ahh" sound). But it might...

Kevin Costner's Western film series, Horizon: An American Saga, keeps struggling to find some giddy-up following the mixed reception garnered by Chapter 1 last summer. The latest progress update from one of Chapter 1's stars suggests Chapter 2 is no closer to leaving its pasture than before.

Though Fuhrman, who stars as Diamond Kittredge in Horizon, is sure Costner is "up to something" with the film, she is as in the dark about it as the fans are. “No, I wish. While there may not have been a special edition popcorn bucket in sight or any livestock in attendance, this weekend’s much-anticipated 20th anniversary re-release of Joe Wright’s “Pride & Prejudice” made for a most pleasurable afternoon at the cinema.
And while this writer turned out for a Friday afternoon screening on the Upper West Side — all the better to watch the beloved Jane Austen adaptation alongside a like-minded crowd who simply couldn’t wait for a Saturday or Sunday screening — she was hardly alone in her endeavors.
While Ryan Coogler’s also crowd-pleasing “Sinners” topped the weekend’s box office for its opening and droves of chicken jockey-ing moviegoers are still turning out for “A Minecraft Movie,” Wright’s Keira Knightley- and Matthew Macfadyen-starring gem held its own. Take a look at more ‘Old West’ gun-slinging footage, from Oscar winning director Kevin Costner’s epic “Horizon: An American Saga", rated 'R' for "violence, nudity and sexuality," chronicling a 15-year span of pre-and post-'Civil War' settlement of the American Old West, now streaming on Netflix:
“A lot of times we measure ourselves against other generations," said Costner about his new film.
"I think about what was at stake. How did people survive? There's a rawness and an unpredictability about it. I'm haunted by that."
Costner, in addition to directing, stars in "Horizon", alongside his son Hayes Costner, who plays his younger version.

In the 2005 film adaptation of “Pride and Prejudice,” the central love story between Elizabeth and Darcy is set in motion during a ball. It’s a rowdy, exuberant scene full of carefree dancing and whispered observations about the other attendees.
That’s also director Joe Wright’s favorite scene. Not too long ago, Wright rewatched his debut feature, which Focus Features is bringing back to theaters this weekend in recognition of the film’s 20th anniversary. “The first ball, the community dance, I’m very proud of that scene. It has a kind of energy and a vitality and a messiness and joy,” Wright tells Variety.
In the scene, Elizabeth (Keira Knightley) first spots Mr. Darcy (Matthew Macfadyen) — “the person with the quizzical brow” —and then overhears him insulting her appearance. It’s also where viewers are introduced to Elizabeth as a young woman with sharp wit, who has a...

Pride & Prejudice, the 2005 classic starring Keira Knightley and Matthew Macfayden, followed Elizabeth Bennet (Knightley) and Mr. Darcy (Macfayden) as they worked through their pride and prejudice towards each other while simultaneously developing a true love connection.
Leaving the audience with angst, humor-filled moments and period piece fashion that has now become mainstream in the Bridgerton era, director Joe Wright shares with The Hollywood Reporter how he interwove the story’s themes into the movie adaptation.
“We were trying to give an authenticity to the costumes, a sense of how lived-in they were,” he says.
Ahead of its 20th anniversary and theatrical re-release, Wright looks back on bringing the historical looks to life by working with Barbie costume designer Jacqueline Durran, what that famous Darcy hand-flex scene actually meant and how Elizabeth’s feelings and fashion were interconnected in Pride & Prejudice.

Five years after 300 and two years before Man of Steel, director Zack Snyder co-wrote and directed a 2011 dark fantasy adventure film that caused a bit of controversy. Now, Sucker Punch, which Snyder co-wrote with Steve Shibuya, is streaming on Paramount+.

Twenty years after its theatrical release, Joe Wright’s luminous Jane Austen adaptation “Pride & Prejudice” continues to delight fans — we’re talking hand flex freaks, “a million times yes” devotees, and anyone who loves a romantic reunion in a dawn-lit field — and is preparing for a very well-received theatrical re-release next month.
That’s good news for fans, but perhaps even better news for some of its many wonderful cast members, including three-time Oscar nominee Carey Mulligan, who made her film debut in the feature as the delightfully ditzy fourth Bennet daughter Catherine (better known as Kitty).
During a recent interview with Mulligan in support of her latest role in the charming “The Ballad of Wallis Island”, I mentioned that a recent article sharing the news of the upcoming re-release of the film for its 20th anniversary was met with huge interest from our readers.
“What?,” a delighted Mulligan responded.

Movies really do seem like magic sometimes. They bring fantasy worlds to life, there are people who look like Ana de Armas, and they occasionally accomplish feats of cinematography that seem to defy physics. But like everything else in movies, including Ana de Armas, it’s just the result of clever trickery.

Netflix is set to break new ground in supernatural drama with “The Boroughs,” a unique series from the creators of “Stranger Things” that shifts the genre’s focus to older protagonists. Announced during the streaming platform’s 2025 content presentation, the show promises to blend horror and humor in a retirement community setting.
The series follows a group of senior residents who must band together to fight an otherworldly threat targeting their most valuable resource: time. Creators Jeffrey Addiss and Will Matthews, with oversight from Matt and Ross Duffer, have crafted a premise that moves beyond traditional supernatural storytelling.
“This time our misfits are a little on the older side. They ride golf carts, not bikes,” Matt Duffer said, highlighting the show’s distinctive approach. The series will be set in a retirement community located in the New Mexico desert, offering a fresh perspective on supernatural drama.

With Valentine’s Day just around the corner, we’re here to remind you that the greatest queer thriller is available on Max for your streaming enjoyment. What better way to celebrate the holiday of love than with a fightback at heteronormativity and the patriarchy? Toss in Kristen Stewart and Katy O’Brian, and you’ve got a hit through Rose Glass’s sophomore feature, Love Lies Bleeding. While the movie — at its core — is a gritty love story mixed with a crime drama, there’s also a fantastical element that many won’t see coming — although those who caught the director’s debut film, Saint Maud, totally know where the vibes came from. With an ensemble that includes Dave Franco, Jena Malone, and Ed Harris, you’ll want to add Love Lies Bleeding to your V-Day watchlist.

The United States of Leland was quietly released in 2003 to very little fanfare. Starring Ryan Gosling in one of his earliest roles as the titular lead, the indie drama delves into the psyche of Leland P. Fitzgerald, a teenager grappling with his own morality, or lack thereof, after inexplicably murdering a young boy. The film explores themes of loneliness, morality, and the fallout of sudden tragedy on those left behind, but despite its ambitious premise and star-studded cast—which includes Don Cheadle, Jena Malone, and Michelle Williams—the film was met with mixed reviews, criticized for being overly melancholic and failing to deliver on anything of substance. Roger Ebert called the film “morally muddled," and while this criticism of the film is certainly valid, decades later, Leland might also be seen as a quiet meditation on the danger of emotional detachment and the far-reaching consequences of violence. So, is The...

Horizon: An American Saga - Chapter 2 may be released in 2025. Isabelle Fuhrman, who stars in the epic Western franchise as Diamond Kittredge, recently offered her best guess as to when the second installment may hit theaters.
Speaking with Screen Rant to promote her new film Wish You Were Here, Fuhrman noted that while she hadn't been told anything concrete about a release date from New Line Cinema, she believed that Chapter 2 would likely be released sooner rather than later. "I believe it's coming pretty soon. I think they're kind of massaging what's going on with it, but I actually, as of now, haven't heard anything. Actors are usually the last to know in these sorts of things," she explained. "But I was really fortunate that we got to premiere it at Venice, and got to see it with an audience. And that was the first time I had seen the movie,...

Horizon: An American Saga star Isabelle Fuhrman has offered a promising update on the release of the Western sequel, Horizon: An American Saga – Chapter 2. In a recent interview with ScreenRant, Furhman revealed that, she believes, the Horizon sequel is “coming pretty soon,” and offered some insight into audience reactions to the Western when it premiered at the 81st Venice International Film Festival back in September.
The first Horizon: An American Saga was released back in June last year, and while director, star, and Hollywood icon Kevin Costner has three other movies planned, Horizon: An American Saga – Chapter 2 was suddenly delayed from its August 16, 2024, release to sometime in 2025. Thankfully, according to Isabelle Fuhrman, audiences hopefully won’t be waiting too long to return to the Horizon saga...

Following his exit from Yellowstone, Kevin Costner moved on to a different Western project, which premiered in 2024 but is now available on streaming. Costner starred as John Dutton III in the first four and a half seasons of Taylor Sheridan's popular TV show. However, in between parts 1 and 2 of Yellowstone season 5, news broke that the actor was leaving the series. Given that Costner's John was the face of the neo-Western drama, his exit came as a big surprise to many.
Taylor Sheridan's upcoming Yellowstone spinoffs and prequels include 1923 season 2, The Madison, 6666, 1944, and an untitled Beth Dutton and Rip Wheeler sequel series.
In the months following the announcement of Costner's Yellowstone exit, more details regarding why he left emerged. However, many were also concerned with how Sheridan would write John out of the series. The Yellowstone season 5, part 2 premiere revealed John's fate, and the show was never the same.

The 2025 Santa Barbara International Film Festival has announced the lineup for its 40th anniversary event, with 52 percent of the films directed by women. The 12-day extravaganza will raise funds for Los Angeles wildfire relief to help the community that has been devastated by the deadly infernos.
Sbiff will run from Feb. 4 to Feb. 15 — that’s one day longer than usual in honor of its four-decade mark. The festival will showcase movies from 60 different countries, including 33 world premieres and 74 United States premieres, and a majority come from female directors. In addition, there will be tributes to talented artisans, panel discussions, and free community education and outreach programs.
“As the tragic events in our sister city of Los Angeles were unfolding, we debated about moving forward with Sbiff,” said Roger Durling, Sbiff executive director. “Film has always been a conduit for comfort and renewal, and film festivals play a vital role in fostering a sense of connection.
