The Devil’s Rejects (2005) – What Happened to This Horror Movie?
Image
The mid-2000s were a wild time in horror. From originals like Wolf Creek, High Tension, and the dawn of Saw, to a litany of dark Platinum Dunes remakes. Audiences made it very clear that we wanted it nasty. Then we wanted it even nastier at home on an “unrated” DVD in the months that followed. It’s very apropos then that this is the era when Rob Zombie: Director was born. Following up 2003’s House of 1000 Corpses, the rock star turned director was ready to shock audiences with depravity once more. Only this time, he didn’t want you to laugh uncomfortably at his sick circus. He wanted to suck all the cartoon air out of the room and make you feel the horror as if you were there. To do so would require him to push his actors to the limits of their minds darkest places,...

For the next iteration of the mutant superheroes, Marvel is looking to cast younger actors once again – they previously did the same for the prequel movies.

Keep reading to find out more…

Free as a Bird – Rob Zombie’s ‘The Devil’s Rejects’ Turns 20
Image
Rob Zombie has been one of the most polarizing figures in the horror community since making the leap from musician to filmmaker. He made his feature writing and directorial debut with House of 1000 Corpses in 2003 — after being purchased by Lionsgate when its original studio, Universal, shelved it three years prior due to fears of it receiving a dreaded Nc-17 rating.

Corpses fell victim to many issues faced by first-time directors — Zombie was seemingly unsure if he’d ever get the opportunity to make another movie, resulting in an anarchic mélange of ideas and influences — but the end result remains potent all these years later. Despite the troubled production and a largely unfavorable critical response, the film turned a healthy profit, giving Zombie the sinister urge to make a sequel as his sophomore effort.

Released 20 years ago today, The Devil’s Rejects is decidedly more grounded in reality than its heightened predecessor.

Ryan Reynolds Confirms the Massive Marvel Death They Considered for Deadpool & Wolverine
Image
Deadpool & Wolverine features the well-received debut of Ryan Reynolds' Wade Wilson in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, bringing his unconventional, button-pushing approach to the Multiverse Saga. However, Reynolds claims the Merc With a Mouth nearly got shut up for good in the superhero blockbuster.

Speaking on The Box Office podcast (via GamesRadar+), Reynolds reveals Marvel had seriously considered killing off Wade Wilson in Deadpool & Wolverine during development. “There’s always the thought of killing Deadpool in the last one,” Reynolds said. “Again, it’s like listening to the movie. Me, [editors] Shane Reid, Dean Zimmerman, and [director] Shawn Levy must have reworked that third act for 45 days straight."

However, featuring the classic single, "Like a Prayer," from pop icon Madonna changed the film's tone, leading to the idea getting dropped. "Finally figuring it out — I am such a needle-drop person, but I’m really working hard to embrace score. It was...

Defenders Twist or Fake Leaks? Marvel May Be Using Genius ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ Trick to Save ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ After TikTok Leak
Image
Marvel’s greatest superpower might not be vibranium suits or time travel, it’s keeping secrets and dropping surprises like confetti at a multiverse party. From Nick Fury’s first post-credit appearance to Spider-Man’s surprise returns, Marvel knows how to keep fans guessing (and gasping). But with Deadpool & Wolverine, the studio took things to another level.

Well, we all know now that they intentionally planted fake leaks and used real-life misdirection just to throw fans off the scent of their surprise cameos. Call it MCU sleight of hand, but it’s working, and fans are eating it up like shawarma after a battle.

Now, rumor has it Marvel might be pulling the same trick to protect the biggest movie in the next phase: Avengers: Doomsday. Because when a fan’s unauthorized footage from the set recently landed on TikTok, people started wondering, was this a real leak or another Marvel mind game in action?...

Disney Banned Ryan Reynolds From Making Fun of 2 Animated Icons (& One Is a Surprise)
Image
Deadpool & Wolverine features Ryan Reynolds' Merc With a Mouth at his most irreverent, button-pushing best, with seemingly nothing off limits in his Marvel Cinematic Universe debut. However, Reynolds reveals Disney banned him from going after two of their most revered characters during his fourth wall-breaking escapades in the film, including one surprising vintage animated icon.

During an interview on the Conan O'Brien Needs a Friend podcast, Reynolds further elaborated on the now-infamous Mickey Mouse joke that Disney stopped Deadpool from making during Deadpool & Wolverine. According to the award-winning actor, Disney CEO Bob Iger liked the MCU blockbuster when he first watched it, but stated his Nsfw Mickey Mouse barb needed to be removed despite how crucial he thought it was to the film.

“The first time he [Bob Iger] saw the film, it was in pretty good shape. And he said, ‘You got to remove the one line, right?’ And I was like,...

Ryan Reynolds Is Quietly Developing a Deadpool/X-Men Crossover Movie
Image
Deadpool may be done flying solo, but that doesn’t mean Ryan Reynolds is done with the Merc With a Mouth. In fact, Deadpool & Wolverine may have been the last standalone outing for Wade Wilson — but if Reynolds gets his way, his katana-wielding antihero could be headed back to the big screen with some mutant company.

According to new report from THR, Reynolds is in the early stages of developing a new Deadpool movie that would feature an ensemble of X-Men characters. It’s still extremely early — no pitch has been made to Marvel Studios at this time — but Reynolds is reportedly working on multiple treatments with the idea of bringing “three or four” iconic mutants into the mix. In a twist, the film wouldn’t necessarily center on Deadpool. Instead, he might play more of a supporting role to allow space for new dynamics.

Ryan Reynolds in Early Stages of Exploring a Deadpool/X-Men Teamup Movie (Exclusive)
Image
In the aftermath of Deadpool & Wolverine, Ryan Reynolds remained firm that he did not see another solo Deadpool movie in his future. That was despite the film grossing $1.338 billion, a number that validated the extraordinary amount of creative control he wields over the franchise, and which proved he was the most valuable new player in the Marvel Studios arsenal.

Now, nine months after Deadpool & Wolverine became the top-grossing R-rated movie of all time, Reynolds is quietly plotting his return to the character, but true to his word, it won’t be as the lead of a solo movie.

Reynolds is exploring ideas for a Deadpool movie that would feature X-Men characters, as well as continuing to script the Paramount comedy Boy Band after making writing a priority for much of this year before tackling other obligations, sources tell The Hollywood Reporter.

The multi-hyphenate is working on various treatments for an...

Throughout the Halloween franchise, many have tried to kill Michael Myers with varying degrees of success. He’s been shot. Stabbed. Beaten. In 2009, Rob Zombie tried to kamikaze his entire career at him. But that white-faced bastard is still standing. No matter how many times Loomis screams into the void “Die, Michael, Die!” He always comes back for more. The good news is that all this madness has created an entire gallery of violent injury and death for us to peruse at our leisure. Today, we’ll be doing just that. Welcome to Best of the Bad Guys, where we celebrate the best of horror’s worst villains. Today, we’re ranking the many deaths of Michael Myers. Now, when I say “deaths,” I mean it loosely. Kevin Durand Reveals Why 'X-Men' Character The Blob Did Not Appear in 'Deadpool & Wolverine'g Left Out of 'Deadpool & Wolverine'
Image
Actor Kevin Durand reveals why he didn't reprise his role as The Blob in Deadpool & Wolverine. Durand is an accomplished character actor, having appeared in a wide variety of projects, including The Strain and Swamp Thing, with 2024 being a notable year for the actor as he appeared in both the horror film Abigail and Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes as the main villain, Proximus Casear. One 2024 film Durand did not appear in, though, was Deadpool & Wolverine, even though the actor appeared alongside both Hugh Jackman and Ryan Reynolds in X-Men Origins: Wolverine back in 2009.

Speaking with Comic Book Movie to promote his latest film, Clown in a Cornfield, Durand revealed why he did not return as Freed Dukes / The Blob for the third Deadpool film. While The Blob does appear in Deadpool & Wolverine, it is Mike Waters in a non-speaking role. The actor said of his absence:

Hugh Jackman Reunites With 'X-Men: Origins' Co-Star Liev Schreiber
Image
When Hugh Jackman was first announced to be returning to the role of Wolverine in the MCU, it was obviously met with some apprehension. The actor's turn as the character was given a resolute and beautiful ending in James Mangold's 2017 film Logan. This R-rated comic book movie was thematically rich and so well-received that it even earned an Academy Award nomination for its screenwriting. However, Deadpool & Wolverine would end up being a massive success, creating a loophole for Jackman to return as the character, and giving a comic-accurate version that featured longtime fan requests such as his iconic cowl and even a matchup with Sabertooth, though not the one fans wanted as seen in X-Men Origins: Wolverine.

The Sabertooth featured in the Deadpool film would be played by Tyler Mane, who first portrayed the character in Bryan Singer's original X-Men film, released in 2000. Liev Schreiber would do the...

Hugh Jackman and Liev Schreiber played the leads in the much-maligned X-Men Origins: Wolverine back in 2009, and fans have been hoping to see the actors reunite as Logan and Victor Creed/Sabertooth in the MCU.

Unfortunately, Schreiber is not likely to don the claws and fangs of Wolverine's nemesis again, but Jackman has now revealed that they will be working together again on two upcoming plays.

The Deadpool and Wolverine star shared the following "now and then" behind-the-scenes photo to social media.

Hugh Jackman Reunites With His Og Sabertooth Again but This Time It’s Not for a Deadpool Cameo

Fans were disappointed when they didn’t see Liev Schreiber back in his role as Sabretooth alongside Hugh Jackman in Deadpool & Wolverine. Instead, Tyler Mane, who played the role in the original X-Men film, returned to play the character in the recent Marvel movie.

Jackman invited Schreiber to play the role of Wolverine’s antagonistic brother in X-Men Origins: Wolverine. The two actors had earlier appeared together in the film Kate & Leopold, where Jackman played the great-great-grandfather of Schreiber’s character.

X-Men (2000) ending explained: How does the first X-Men movie finish?
Image
2000’s X-Men started the epic franchise and a new era of comic book movies, but how did it really end?

Back in 2000, comic book movies were in a downturn with some thinking the genre was dead. Then X-Men came along to revive it. The monster hit not only brought the beloved mutants to life but grounded them in a realistic way to influence scores of other films, including the MCU.

The movie made a star out of Hugh Jackman as Wolverine with a top-notch cast and Bryan Singer’s direction was sensational. It combined into a hit film that was backed by a great storyline.

How does X-Men play out?

The movie focuses on Wolverine as he’s hunted by Magneto (Ian McKellan) and his Brotherhood of Mutants. He and young Rogue (Anna Paquin) are taken in by the X-Men, led by Professor Charles Xavier (Patrick Stewart) with Cyclops (James Marsden...

Is Days of Our Lives Alum Jensen Ackles About to Have A Supernatural Reunion on The Boys?

No, there isn’t a Supernatural reboot…yet. Prime Video’s The Boys recently stirred up excitement on social media when the hit show dropped a massive tease for its upcoming fifth and final season. It involves Days of Our Lives alum Jensen Ackles and his former Supernatural co-stars Jared Padalecki and Misha Collins.

They’ve Got Work To Do…Again

In a video that several Instagram accounts posted, Days alum Jensen Ackles kicked off the madness with, “Hey Jared, we got work to do…again.” The action then cut from Ackles to his Supernatural brother Jared Padalecki, who played Sam Winchester to Ackles’s Dean Winchester. The former Walker star picked up the proverbial baton and said, “Okay, I’ll tell Misha. Misha! We got work to do.” Misha Collins wrapped things up when he responded, “Okay. Important Characters That Were Recast in Major Films

We see recasts pretty regularly on the big screen. For some franchises like Friday the 13th and Halloween, it’s almost a tradition. It’s less common in a non-genre arena. However, other major films have seen some of their important characters get recast for various reasons… and keep in mind that we’re only talking about movies here, not TV shows, so you won’t hear about Michiel Huisman replacing Ed Skrein as Daario Naharis on Game of Thrones, Charles Melton replacing Ross Butler on Riverdale, Liam Hemsworth replacing Henry Cavill on The Witcher, Janet Hubert being switched with Daphne Maxwell Reid as Aunt Vivian Banks on The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, Nathan Parsons replacing Luke Grimes as James Kent on True Blood, Alessandra Torresani being replaced by Mae Whitman on Arrested Development, or Jeff the cab driver being recast in the final season of Better Call Saul. Halloween: Is Laurie Strode The Sister Of Michael Myers?
Image
In hindsight, 1978's "Halloween" was always destined to have a sequel. Co-writer/director John Carpenter and co-writer/producer Debra Hill even included a particularly prophetic line of dialogue in their tale of a supernaturally-charged maniac, Michael Myers, terrorizing his hometown on Halloween night: "You can't kill the bogeyman." Thanks to the film's massive success critically, commercially, and culturally, "Halloween II" was practically a given.

While "Halloween" concludes with the assertion that Myers has indeed not yet been killed, a trickier question for Carpenter and Hill concerned what to do with the other surviving supporting characters. Dr. Sam Loomis (Donald Pleasance) was established as the Van Helsing to Myers' Dracula, so his return was fairly natural. A bigger issue revolved around bringing back star Jamie Lee Curtis as Laurie Strode, the babysitter who unfortunately crosses Myers' path and becomes the focus of his All Hallows' Eve rampage. Not wanting to kill...

Halloween II (2009) – The Test of Time
Image
It’s time for another reverse Uno card of a video. When we are looking at something standing the Test of Time, its usually through the lens of “is it still good” or “is it still impactful”? The holy grail or Mount Rushmore of slashers have an easy answer to that. Halloween, Friday the 13th, Texas Chainsaw Massacre, and A Nightmare on Elm Street are all unimpeachable in their legacy and entertainment value but what about their sequels and remakes? Weve looked at a few of them either through this show seeing if they are still fun as well as Andrew or Lance defending some of them in our Black Sheep videos. Rob Zombie is pretty divisive in general, but he had the extremely difficult task of making not only the remake of John Carpenter’s Halloween in 2007 but also a sequel to that in 2009. He was told he could...

This Recurring Marvel Actor Deserved Another Shot at Playing a Beloved X-Men Villain
Image
Quick Links Why Liev Schreiber Played a Better Sabretooth Than Tyler Mane Schreiber's Sabretooth Almost Returned For Logan Could Liev Schreiber Still Return For Another X-Men Related Project?

Deadpool and Wolverine recently brought back a plethora of Marvel characters that were previously licensed by 20th Century Fox. While those like Blade and X-23 played major supporting roles, others were only brought back for glorified cameos like Chris Evans’ Human Torch. Even Sabretooth was brought back, only it wasn’t quite the Sabretooth many were hoping to see. Tyler Mane, who played the character in the first X-Men film before Liev Schreiber took on the role in X-Men Origins: Wolverine, was the one to have his glorious reprisal. It was Schreiber, however, who played the version that many seem to remember more fondly; as even though his film received heavy-hitting bouts of negative criticism, his performance was considered to be one of its few redeeming qualities.

Deadpool & Wolverine Screenplay Reveals the Racy Joke Disney Wanted Removed
Image
Deadpool & Wolverine features several memorable moments that keep Marvel Cinematic Universe enthusiasts talking, including the fourth-wall-breaking humor that's made Ryan Reynolds' "Merc With a Mouth" even more beloved. However, Disney prevented one of Deadpool's button-pushing jokes from featuring, with a new report confirming what that joke was.

According to the official screenplay (shared by Disney), script pages from Deadpool & Wolverine feature some of the dialogue that didn't make the MCU blockbuster's theatrical cut. One page features the line Disney didn't sign off on for the latest Deadpool franchise installment, one which involves Wade Wilson and the House of Mouse's most notable figure, Mickey Mouse. The X-rated joke was, “F*Ck! What, we can't even afford one more X-Man? Disney is so cheap. I can barely breathe with all this Mickey Mouse c*ck in my throat.”

Reynolds kept plot details about the project under wraps but will work on it with Jackman and Levy over the next year. It's unknown if the project is in active development at a studio.

Rob Zombie’s ‘Halloween II’ is a Gritty Exploration of the Final Girl’s Burden [The Lady Killers Podcast]
Jamie Lee Curtis
“You know who I am, Angel. Now, repeat after me: I love you, Mommy.”

In all of horror, few characters remain so beloved as Laurie Strode. Originated by Jamie Lee Curtis in John Carpenter’s Halloween, this intrepid babysitter anchors one of the genre’s greatest films while helping to create an iconic trope that has changed the way we view women in film. Laurie becomes a final girl when she survives Michael Myers (Nick Castle) and a horrific Halloween night, but she’s cursed to carry the weight of this trauma alone. Out of all the sequels, remakes, timelines, and lore, no one explores the legacy of pain left in Michael’s wake like Rob Zombie. His Halloween II is an angry film that rubs our noses in the sorrow, guilt, shame, and pain still guiding Laurie’s shattered life. This polarizing sequel takes a wild swing at Michael...

Halloween: Why Michael Myers Is Called The Shape
Image
Halloweens villain Michael Myers has become a cinematic icon and a favorite among horror fans, and while many are aware that Michael Myers was originally named The Shape, they might not know why. The Halloween franchise has seen many ups and downs with multiple retcons, remakes, and reboots of the series. Though not all Halloween films have been successful, they have certainly helped maintain the popularity and reputation of Michael Myers, who is now part of pop culture, being referred to and parodied on multiple occasions in different films and TV shows from all genres.

Michael Myers is credited as "The Shape in the original Halloween before being officially credited as "Michael Myers" in the sequels, only for the most recent Halloween trilogy, including Halloween Kills and Halloween Ends, to return to crediting him as The Shape. With the constant switching back and forth, and the fact that the name...

Deadpool & Wolverine Editor Reveals Why Gambit Post-Credits Scene Got Axed
Image
Deadpool & Wolverine features many intriguing deleted scenes, including one that strongly implies the fate of Gambit following the do-or-die showdown involving him and his fellow heroes against Cassandra Nova's army. One editor from the Marvel Cinematic Universe confirms why the post-credit scene with Channing Tatum's character didn't make the final cut.

Speaking with Screen Rant, Deadpool & Wolverine editor Shane Reid explained why the deleted scene, which saw Gambit make it out of the Void alive amid a sea of bodies, was omitted from the theatrical version. According to Reid, the reason they kept it out was that it felt like a "traditional Marvel" trope as they wanted to subvert fan expectations while somewhat keeping the focus on its main character, Ryan Reynolds' Deadpool.

X-Men Star Sophie Turner Explains Jean Grey's Absence in Deadpool & Wolverine
Image
Deadpool & Wolverine featured tons of exciting cameos from many of the past Fox Marvel films, and it surely appeared nobody was off-limits regarding a surprise appearance in the film. However, a prominent star in the Fox X-Men films recently shared why she didn't make an appearance, and addressed whether she will ever return in any other future Marvel projects.

While promoting her upcoming miniseries, Joan, Sophie Turner recently sat down for an interview with Variety, in which the star was asked about whether there were any serious talks regarding a possible cameo in the blockbuster hit Deadpool & Wolverine. Turner appeared as Jean Grey in both X-Men: Apocalypse and Dark Phoenix before Disney acquired 21st Century Fox in 2019. After the acquisition, the X-Men universe that existed at Fox essentially died, as Marvel Studios now had the rights to the franchise. However, that didn't stop stars like Aaron Stanford, Dafne Keen...

'Thanks, Kev': Ryan Reynolds Recalls Kevin Feige's Deadpool & Wolverine Advice
Image
Deadpool & Wolverine continues to bask in its box-office glory thanks, in part, to Ryan Reynolds' scene-stealing performance as the "Merc With a Mouth." Reynolds has Marvel president Kevin Feige to thank for the added motivation thanks to a piece of advice he received from him early in the creative process.

Speaking with Deadline, Reynolds recalled what Feige said to him during an early meeting for the third Deadpool installment and the first under the Marvel Cinematic Universe banner. Feige offered just four words of advice for his leading man, but those words proved profound. He said something that sounds very pedantic and is probably not the thing to say out loud, but actually, weirdly, served as a creative engine. He was like, Make every scene great. And I was like, Thanks, Kev. Sounds good,' Reynolds said.

I've Changed My Mind After Deadpool & Wolverine, I'm Glad Liev Schreiber Didn't Return As Sabretooth
Image
Despite featuring so many familiar Marvel movie faces, Liev Schreiber did not reprise his Sabretooth role in Deadpool & Wolverine - and, to be honest, I'm glad. Deadpool & Wolverine has become the McU's latest billion-dollar movie and the highest-grossing R-rated movie of all time. The number of cameos in Deadpool & Wolverine is partly to thank for this success, as it expertly capitalized on the nostalgia of its older audience, bringing back a litany of Marvel movie heroes and villains that made their debuts in the 2000s.

These mostly included characters from the first X-Men trilogy, though only a handful were portrayed by their original actors. Tyler Mane's Sabretooth was among them, a character whose rivalry with Wolverine in Marvel Comics runs far deeper than what was depicted in 2000's X-Men. Despite its faults, X-Men Origins: Wolverine did a better job of exploring the relationship between Wolverine and Sabretooth,...

Jonathan Majors Selling $140 Autographs at Famous Monsters Convention
Image
If someone can't be a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe or other big Hollywood projects, one has to find a living elsewhere. That is the case for former Marvel actor Jonathan Majors, who fell from grace following being found guilty of two misdemeanor counts of assault and harassment at the end of 2023. The major roles he would once be up for have dried up, so it's not surprising that he has turned to a new business venture, which involves conventions and selling his autograph for an outrageous price.

Per The Hollywood Reporter, Majors will make his first convention appearance at the Famous Monsters Fest in King of Prussia, Pennsylvania this Sunday. In addition to appearing at the convention, the actor will also be selling his autograph for the hefty price of $140 each. There will also be professional shots of the former Marvel star being sold for $160, a far cry...

Jonathan Majors Is a “Famous Monster” — and Signing Autographs at $140 a Pop
Image
Barring the occasional doorstep TMZ video or red carpet event appearance, the public hasn’t seen much of 34-year-old actor Jonathan Majors lately. The Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania star was sentenced in April to a 52-week domestic violence intervention program after being convicted of reckless assault in the third degree and harassment in December after an altercation with his then-girlfriend. The performer was ordered to continue mental health counseling and therapy and provide the court with updates on treatment.

Majors’ Sundance 2023 film Magazine Dreams, initially considered an awards contender, was dropped by Searchlight Pictures, as was his supervillain character Kang the Conqueror from the continuing Marvel Cinematic Universe. (Robert Downey Jr. was rehired by Disney’s comic book movie behemoth to step in as Dr. Victor von Doom for “significantly more than $80 million” over two films.)

But don’t count Majors out yet. On Sunday, Sept. 15, two days after his first treatment compliance date,...

Gambit & 10 Other Canceled Marvel Projects Lost to the Void
Image
Deadpool & Wolverine has lit the world on fire, raking in nearly $1.3 billion at the box office. Along the way to his massive theatrical success, the Merc With a Mouths road trip through the Void took a few pit stops to spotlight characters fans had thought were gone for good. These ranged from favorites like Hugh Jackmans Wolverine to forgotten deep cuts like Jennifer Garners Elektra. It even took things a step further, introducing Channing Tatum as Gambit. Tatum had been cast as the character for a potential spin-off years earlier, but the film would never see release.

Tatums performance, including the instantly iconic utterance of his intent to make a name for himself here, has garnered interest in a potential follow-up role for the character. Deadpool Is Now the Second-Highest-Grossing Marvel Hero Ever
Image
Deadpool & Wolverine continues to make box-office history and set new markers for the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The billion-dollar team-up movie establishes the "Merc With a Mouth" as one of Marvel's most commercially successful superheroes.

Per Screen Rant, Ryan Reynolds' Deadpool is now the second-highest-grossing hero in Marvel history, with the Deadpool film series now making over $2.85 billion at the worldwide box office. Though the new "Marvel Jesus" has saved the MCU with Deadpool & Wolverine, helping him eclipse Thor ($2.705 billion) and his partner-in-crime Wolverine ($2.435 billion) in third and fourth respectively, Deadpool would need a miracle to get the top spot. The Spider-Man franchise boasts the most profitable Marvel hero of them all, with Tom Holland's version of the revered wall-crawler earning over $3.92 billion globally thanks to the Home trilogy.
