Wgaw Unveils Initial 2013 Election Candidates: Incumbent President Chris Keyser Running Unopposed For Now
There’s a big surprise today in the Writers Guild West‘s 2013 initial list of election candidates: the scribe selected to run against incumbent president Christopher Keyser declined the nomination. That means, unless someone else can be convinced to run, Keyser right now is running unopposed. He was a newcomer to Wgaw leadership first elected two years ago when he defeated the polarizing Patric Verrone. Even back then, in 2011, few people stepped forward to run for the presidency: insiders told me that was because of great apathy. It seems nothing has changed even though the WGA constitution doesn’t allow for uncontested races: Los Angeles – The Writers Guild of America, West’s Nominating Committees have announced the initial list of candidates for the 2013 Wgaw Officers and Board of Directors election. DVD Review: Second Season of USA Network’s ‘In Plain Sight’
Chicago – “In Plain Sight” has not really built the loyal following of other basic cable shows like “Burn Notice” or “The Closer” and I wish the show would try harder to live up to its potential but it’s still wildy entertaining and features one of the better TV actress performances from Mary McCormack.

DVD Rating: 3.5/5.0

The opening narration of “In Plain Sight” sets the stage better than I possibly could - “Since 1970, the Federal Witness Protection Program has relocated thousands of witnesses - some criminal, some not - to neighborhoods all across the country. Every one of those individuals shares a unique attribute, distinguishing them from the rest of the general population. And that is, somebody wants them dead.”

In Plain Sight: Season Two was released on DVD on May 9th, 2010.

McCormack, star of “Private Parts, “1408,” and a Tony nominee, is perfectly cast as U.

Channel Surfing: Barrowman Could Get "Desperate," Michael Hogan Checks into "Dollhouse," USA Renews "In Plain Sight," and More
Welcome to your Monday morning television briefing. Torchwood star John Barrowman has told BBC1 Radio host Chris Moyle that he is meeting with the producers of ABC's Desperate Housewives about a possible role on the series next season. "I'm off to Los Angeles on Sunday again," said Barrowman on the air. "I probably shouldn't say this but I've got a meeting with the execs of Desperate Housewives; can you believe it, I'm going to be a Desperate Housewife!" No word yet on what role Barrowman could be playing or if a deal is in place for the actor to come on board the long-running drama. (Guardian's Media Monkey) The Chicago Tribune's Maureen Ryan is reporting that former Battlestar Galactica co-star Michael Hogan will be guest starring in an upcoming episode of Fox's Dollhouse this fall. Hogan, set to appear in the second episode of the sophomore season, will play "a...

USA Network Renews In Plain Sight
The red hot cable newtwork USA has firmed up another season for one of its series. According to The Hollywood Reporter, USA Network has renewed In Plain Sight for a third season.

The network is also close to a deal to renew Law & Order: Criminal Intent and if that goes through, the network will have renewed all of its series that were up for renewal, an extremely rare feat. The network ordered new seasons of its Thursday night smash hit series' Burn Notice and Royal Pains last week.

Although it was renewed, there are some changes in store for In Plain Sight. Creator/executive producer David Maples and executive producer Paul Stubin will be taking a backseat from the day-to-day operations of the show and the network was said to be bringing someone else in to bring, "a little more narrative drive" to the series. It was also unsure if...

Mary McCormack in In Plain Sight (2008)
USA renews 'In Plain Sight'
Mary McCormack in In Plain Sight (2008)
USA Network has renewed sophomore drama "In Plain Sight" for a third season.

Additionally, the network is finalizing a deal to renew the show's companion on Sunday nights, "Law & Order: Criminal Intent."

That, combined with last week's orders for the red-hot Thursday duo of "Burn Notice" and "Royal Pains," means that USA has picked up all of its series that were up for renewal; that is an impossible feat for a broadcast network and very rare for a cable net.

But USA is completely dominating the cable ratings with big help from its slate of six original series: the newly picked up quartet and hits "Monk" and "Psych."

"It's a great run," president of original programming Jeff Wachtel said. "We have an incredible team, and we also have gotten a little lucky."

"Sight," which stars Mary McCormack as an U.S. marshal for the witness protection program, has been picked up for 16 episodes,...

Nichole Hiltz and Joshua Malina Dish on In Plain Sight
The actors who portray Brandi and Peter on the USA Network show talk about the new season

In Plain Sight is currently airing its second season on the USA Network, with the show airing on Sunday nights at 10 Pm Et on the network. Two of the actors in the hit series, Nichole Hiltz, who plays Brandi, and Joshua Malina, who plays Peter, recently held a conference call to discuss the new season, and here's what they had to say.

What about your role continues to challenge you?

Nichole Hiltz: A lot of things this year. Brandi is trying to change her life, but she doesn't really know how to do that over night. So she's still getting into trouble and challenges and bumps. It doesn't help that my mother is asking me to go to AA meetings for her when I'm trying to get my own life together. It's...

TV Review: Mary McCormack Continues to Shine on ‘In Plain Sight’
Television Rating: 3.5/5.0 Chicago – USA Network’s “In Plain Sight” was one of the best new shows of 2008, another hit for the highest-rated network on cable, USA. The first-year series still needs to iron out a few things to truly live up its potential but the excellent Mary McCormack continues to rock on one of the few must-see basic cable shows this season.

The season premiere of “In Plain Sight” - “Gilted Lily” - perfectly illustrates both the potential and the current flaws with USA’s hit. When a show places so much emphasis on weekly mysteries, you’re bound to have a few that fall flat. I honestly never once cared about the mystery at the heart of the second season premiere of “In Plain Sight” - a tale of a biker and some missing gold coins.

USA sets sights on 'Mary'
USA Network has picked up the pilot Mary Sunshine to series, ordering 11 additional episodes of the light drama starring Mary McCormack.

The project, previously known as In Plain Sight, centers on Mary Shannon (McCormack), a U.S. Marshal who tries to balance her intense job at the witness-protection program with her equally intense and amusingly dysfunctional personal life.

The project hails from writer David Maples and NBC Universal Network TV. To accommodate star McCormack's pregnancy, production on the series is slated to begin in the summer for a launch in the fourth quarter or first-quarter 2008.

"When you've got something so good, you don't let it go," USA executive vp original programming Jeff Wachtel said of the network's pickup decision, even though the series won't be ready for about a year.

"It has a wonderfully skewed heroine at its center, and then there is Mary McCormack," he said in listing reasons for the order. "She is the heart and the soul of the series who brings a sexy spirit to it."

Following USA's success with such male-centered character-based series as The Dead Zone, Monk and Psych, the network brass had been looking for a show with a female lead.
