What Happened to Superman IV: The Quest For Peace?
Image
Unlike Superman and Superman II, Superman III didn’t even bother teasing the next installment in the franchise. Really, by the time that movie’s end credits hit, did anyone even want another entry? Hadn’t the Salkinds done enough damage to the Man of Steel? And yet, as we all know, a fourth installment in the Superman series did indeed hit theaters…with a nearly unmatched thud.

If you remember from our previous instalment of What Happened to This Movie?!, Superman III was plagued with all sorts of problems both on and off the screen. So what happened this time around? Turns out, the series would be facing its greatest battles yet, with the rights being passed to another studio, its star only signing on so he could finance another movie altogether and the budget getting chopped in more than half!

And so, let’s suit up one more...

Every Sherlock Villain, Ranked From Worst To Best
Image
Lord Moran is an ineffectual villain in Sherlock, functioning more as a narrative device than a true antagonist. Dr. Bob Frankland is a boring villain in Sherlock, lacking the depth and grandeur of his creation, the hallucinated hounds. However, his murder plot is well-produced. Jonathan Small, the Mayfly Man, is an underdeveloped character in Sherlock, but he displays cruelty and cunning in one of the show's best mysteries.

Sherlock features a diverse range of villains, varying from brilliant to bizarre. The BBC adaptation of Arthur Conan Doyle's eponymous detective, Sherlock depicts many creepy criminals over its four seasons. Some of these villains are highly memorable, while others are less so.

Sherlock stars Benedict Cumberbatch as Sherlock Holmes and Martin Freeman as Dr. John Watson, but impressive guest stars also bolster the modernized adaptation. Many bring Conan Doyle's infamous rogue's gallery to life, capturing the villains with varying degrees of success.

Why Superman IV: The Quest For Peace Is Called The Worst Superman Movie
Image
1987's Superman IV: The Quest for Peace is widely viewed as the worst Superman movie ever made, with a variety of factors contributing to its poor reputation. Christopher Reeve first brought the Man of Steel to life on the big screen in 1978's Superman: The Movie, which stands as a timeless superhero movie landmark. Reeve returned in 1981's Superman II, which some see as an equal if not superior film to its predecessor, but the Superman franchise began to get rockier with the release of Superman III in 1983.

The release of Superman IV: The Quest for Peace in 1987 would ultimately kill the Superman franchise on the big screen for years until Kal-El finally returned to cinema screens in 2006's Superman Returns. In addition to being a box office disaster, the Reeve sequel has also long been regarded as Superman's lowest point cinematically, with Christopher Reeve himself regretting making The Quest for Peace.

Robin Of Sherwood: looking back at a modern TV classic
Llinos Cathryn Thomas Aug 5, 2016

Thirty years since it ended, we revisit much-loved 80s historical fantasy series Robin Of Sherwood...

The Robin Hood legend has been retold in countless ways, but one of the most memorable of modern times is Richard Carpenter’s hugely influential 1980s imagining, telling the story of Sherwood’s band of outlaws with a combination of realism and luminous fantasy with its roots in British folklore.

Made by Htv in association with production company Goldcrest Films (which was also behind Chariots Of Fire and Gandhi), its 26 episodes ran on ITV from 1984 to 1986, garnering a positive critical reception and inspiring a fan following that’s still enthusiastically active today.

Much of the success of the show was down to the spot-on casting and the chemistry between the performers. Michael Praed’s charismatic-yet-otherworldly presence as Robin was the perfect match for the show’s aesthetic, and the more down-to-earth Little John,...

Robin of Sherwood's radio comeback with Ray Winstone launches a crowdfunding campaign
A crowdfunding campaign to bring back Robin of Sherwood as an audio special will launch today (September 15).

The classic 1980s TV series will return in early 2016 as a one-off radio adventure titled The Knight of the Apocalypse, with the original cast also returning.

Fans of the show will receive exclusive goodies if they donate towards the production costs via Indiegogo.

Producer Simon Barnard said: "By contributing to our Indiegogo campaign, you'll have access to a little piece of Robin of Sherwood history: signed artwork and scripts, a limited edition box set, and specially made Knights of the Apocalypse merchandise.

"You'll also be able to come to the London premiere in 2016, and meet some of the cast! And best of all, you can do this safe in the knowledge that every penny we make in profit will go to Robin of Sherwood creator Richard Carpenter's favourite charities, the British Red...

1980s TV series Robin of Sherwood is returning as a radio play
Cult 1980s TV show Robin of Sherwood is returning with a new episode - in the form of a radio play.

Written by Richard Carpenter, the show ran for three series between 1984 and 1986.

Now, in tribute to Carpenter - who died in 2012 - 'The Knights of the Apocalypse' will be recorded and aired in early 2016, with all proceeds going to charity.

Carpenter wrote the episode following the end of the TV series, and nothing was ever done with it until now.

The new instalment sees the return of original cast members including Ray Winstone, Jason Connery, Clive Mantle, Judi Trott and Nikolas Grace.

Connery, who played Robin, said of the new radio play: "My time in Sherwood was spent working with wonderful actors who became lifelong friends, and behind it all was Richard 'Kip' Carpenter's brilliant writing, whose scripts we brought to life. After many false dawns, I can finally...

Dispute Gets Game of Thrones Actor The Tyson Vs Holyfield Treatment
An angry bear has been the subject of water cooler talk ever since the latest Game of Thrones season 3 teaser was released, spotlighting the unruly animal. Believe it or not, today’s headline has nothing to do with an on set disaster. The bear wasn’t involved and I daresay, this news completely upstages the critter. You see, actor Clive Mantle, who plays Lord Greatjon Umber on the HBO hit, was involved off screen in an altercation, which cost him part of his ear!

Perhaps his attacker was a Mike Tyson fan, eh? The sobering and unfortunate incident befell Mantle, age 55, early Sunday morning at a Newcastle Travelodge according to THR, who got the update from his agent’s spokesman when a report was made to BBC.

The disagreement began with a complaint about noise. The actor asked some other hotel guests to keep it down, when his plea quickly escalated into an attack.

"Game of Thrones" actor Clive Mantle's real life is beginning to feel like a wild night in King's Landing.

The 55-year-old actor, who played Lord Greatjon Umber during Season 1 of the HBO fantasy epic series, was allegedly attacked on Sunday at a hotel in Newcastle, England and a portion of his ear was bitten off, the BBC reported.

A rep for the actor told the BBC that Clive was allegedly pinned down by a 32-year-old man after asking him and his associates to quiet down at the hotel where they were all staying.

Clive Mantle Has Ear Partially Bitten Off: Game of Thrones Star Injured During a Fight
Game of Thrones (2011)
His character on Game of Thrones had two fingers bitten off on the show, and now Clive Mantle has had part of his ear bitten off in real life. The 55-year-old British actor, who played Greatjon Umber in three episodes of the HBO series in 2011, was allegedly attacked at the Newcastle Travelodge over a noise dispute on March 24, his agent told the BBC. A spokesman for Mantle said he was pinned to the floor by a 32-year-old man at the Forster Street hotel in Newcastle [...]...

Game of Thrones (2011)
Game of Thrones Star Clive Mantle Has Ear Partially Bitten Off
Game of Thrones (2011)
Somebody got an earful. Literally. A 32-year-old man has been charged with partially biting off the ear of Game of Thrones actor Clive Mantle. The alleged attack occurred at a Travelodge in Newcastle, England, during a dispute over noise, BBC News reports. Mantle, who plays Greatjon Umber on the hit HBO series (on which his character, incidentally, had two of his fingers bitten off by direwolf Grey Wind), was subsequently taken to the hospital, where doctors managed to reattach the chewed-off portion of his injured right ear. A rep for the 55-year-old actor told the BBC he believed Mantle was attacked after asking other guests at the hotel to keep the noise level down. Mantle's other...

PBS Masterpiece: Sherlock – The Hounds of the Baskerville Review
After last week’s lewd adventure Sherlock was back in familiar territory this week with an intriguing mystery involving a government backed scientific research center. This modern take on the Hounds of the Baskerville didn’t feature the manor house that we’ve seen in countless other dramatizations of the story. As far as I am concerned the lack of a manor house was good thing because it’s about time that someone offered us a new take on this beloved classic.

The Hounds of the Baskerville. co. BBC

Fans of British TV shows such as Mi5 will know that the folks in England love blaming everything bad that happens on the C.I.A. I had a sneaky feeling that we were heading in that direction in this episode but I was hoping that Mark Gatiss would take the story in a different direction. Sadly not, but replacing real...
