10 Movies That Aren’t Worth Watching Again After You Know Their Twist
Image
In Hollywood, a lot of directors have built their careers on their twist endings, from M. Night Shyamalan's The Sixth Sense to Bryan Singer's The Usual Suspects. These endings can make the audience leave the movie still thinking about its themes and message years after seeing it. Unfortunately, not every movie achieves this, and there's no shortage of criticism of directors who try too hard to be subversive, only to undermine their film.

A good twist should compel the viewer to immediately want to revisit the story to pick up on small details and clues as they go. For a variety of reasons, some movies simply aren't good enough to warrant that second viewing. Sometimes, it's the twist itself that hurts the film, while others are just too weak for another watch regardless of how good the twist is. Either way, these movies show that subverting expectations doesn't...

Most Ambiguous Movie Endings of All Time, Ranked
Image
This article contains discussions of sensitive topics such as suicide.

One of the most crucial elements of a movie is making the audience feel affected by its ending. The best conclusions in cinema are the ones that have a grand sense of ambiguity, or the idea that things are left open to further interpretation. While movies traditionally leave things on closed notes, many have taken risks and given viewers endings that either don't completely answer everything or end things abruptly in a good way.

These movie endings have become legendary because of their shocking cuts to black, haunting final shots, or other factors that cause audiences to become speechless. Even though many questions are raised, viewers get the chance to piece things together and find an understanding of what the ending means. Between Inception,American Psycho, and The Thing, these movies and their final moments are made better by the ambiguity applied to them.

One of these many characters is the menacing yet unforgettable Hector Salamanca, portrayed by the late star Mark Margolis. Having reprised his role in the spin-off Better Call Saul, his portrayal of a silent yet fiercely expressive character left a lasting impression on the audiences.

Iconic Breaking Bad House Goes Up for Sale (But You'll Need Heisenberg Money to Afford It)
Image
The famous Albuquerque home that was used to represent Walter White's house in Breaking Bad is now up for sale. Potential buyers should be forewarned, however, that owning the home will come with a risk of getting pizzas thrown onto the roof.

Per Kob 4 in New Mexico, the Breaking Bad house has hit the market more than a decade after the original series ended its run. The house was made famous when it was used as the home for the White family in the show, but the owners hadn't foreseen just how iconic it would become when they first agreed to let the TV film there. At first, the family members living there welcomed fans who stopped by to take pictures at the house, but as the popularity of Breaking Bad grew, it became excessive.

The Strangest Christmas Movie of All Time Is This John Waters-Approved Horror Film
Image
Holiday horror is a special subgenre all its own, full of famous films from the scandal-stirring Silent Night, Deadly Night, to Art the Clown's festive turn in Terrifier 3. The image of an evil Santa Claus has become iconic over the years, but his first — and best — starring role is in the incomparable Christmas Evil. This personal favorite of John Waters is constantly surprising, right up to its genuinely shocking twist ending.

While many holiday horror movies settle for a homicidal villain in a red and white suit, Christmas Evil has an antihero who is so obsessed with Saint Nick that he fully transforms into the jolly old elf, bringing cheer to the nice and slaughtering the naughty. The movie's startling mix of slasher movie depravity and yuletide fantasy thrilled the director of Pink Flamingos and Hairspray, and this John Waters-approved oddity should become a new Christmas tradition for cult film fans.

From House of the Dragon to Yellowjackets to Breaking Bad, these pitch-black and morally grey characters have caused fans to think about the damning choices they made.

It was the kind of show where fans would analyze the hidden and obvious symbolisms that were placed throughout each episode, and rejoice at the fan service provided by returning characters and Easter egg references. 10 TV Characters The Shows Didnt Know What To Do With
Image
Sometimes, TV shows introduce characters who seem fundamental to the story, but it becomes clear that the writers aren't sure what to do with them after their initial storyline. The result is often that the TV show will repeat the same story many times, focusing on one character. Maybe said character will eventually be written out of the show when the actor or writers have had enough, but they may be needed for one particular future storyline.

Some TV show love interests that were suddenly dropped and great female TV characters that deserved better ended up in these circumstances because creativity had run out concerning their arcs. Great TV shows should effectively use all their characters, at least providing a reason for them to be shelved for a while if screen time is limited. However, it is hard to feel like some shows did not waste characters when they are...

While there are currently no plans for more Breaking Bad continuations, some cast members and writers are open to the idea of spin-offs. Breaking Bad continues to be considered one of the greatest TV shows of all time, maintaining its must-watch status even years after its premiere.

Walter White, Jessie Pinkman, and the characters of Breaking Bad are depicted in a stylized art piece to celebrate the show's 16th anniversary. Why Skyler White Shouldn't Be Breaking Bad's Most Hated Character
Image
Skyler White had to adapt and navigate the dangerous world of Walter White's meth empire to protect her children and ensure their safety. Skyler's actions stemmed from a broken marriage and a loss of trust in Walt, leading her to seek an outlet for her anger and frustration. Skyler's character was a statement against toxic masculinity in the show, as she broke free from societal expectations and became a strong and imposing figure.

If there is one thing series creator Vince Gilligan got right with Breaking Bad, it's how to cultivate remarkable characters that fans gravitate towards, even years later. It's why the Better Call Saul spinoff is also deemed to be on the same level as Breaking Bad, helping carve out a unique world filled with drama, action, lies, and drugs. Amid all the rule-breaking and law-bending, this universe produced some truly unlikable characters.

It's an incredibly rare thing when a spin-off is just as good, if not better, than the original series. Luckily, against all odds, however, the Breaking Bad spin-off series, Better Call Saul achieved a similar success. Simultaneously serving as a prequel and sequel to the beloved AMC series, it explored the rise and fall of "criminal" lawyer, Saul Goodman, fleshing out and showing the hidden complexities of a character that had once been thought of as just pure comic relief.

Image
Star Trek: Deep Space Nine featured notable guest stars including Breaking Bad actor Jonathan Banks, who portrayed Golin Shel-la in a powerful episode about the futility of war. Banks, known for his role in the crime procedural Wiseguy, brought gritty depth to the character and added to the overall allegorical message of the episode. There are several connections between Breaking Bad and the Star Trek universe, including shared actors and the involvement of creator Vince Gilligan, who had previous ties to The X-Files.

Years before Breaking Bad became a TV sensation, the actor behind one of its best-loved characters faced off against Commander Benjamin Sisko (Avery Brooks) in a forgotten episode of Star Trek: Deep Space Nine. Star Trek: Voyager Copied A Tng Season 3 Episode - And Made It Much Better
Image
Star Trek: Voyager's early episode "Ex Post Facto" improved on a murder mystery storyline from Star Trek: The Next Generation, adding classic film noir and detective tropes for a more engaging plot. Both episodes featured a crew member being accused of murder and a reenactment of the crime, but Voyager's version included a femme fatale and espionage conspiracy, while Tng's had a more straightforward and tragic outcome. By borrowing ideas from other mystery works and adding unique elements, Voyager's "Ex Post Facto" surpassed Tng's "A Matter of Perspective" in terms of storytelling and overall engagement.

This article contains a mention of suicide.

One of Star Trek: Voyager's earliest episodes made a Star Trek: The Next Generation murder mystery storyline so much better. Voyager was the fourth series in the Star Trek franchise, and as such, had a lot of material to draw on for inspiration while still trying to create something unique.
