Actor John Capodice, who was probably best known for his roles in movies such as Ace Ventura: Pet Detective and TV shows including Seinfeld and General Hospital, has died at the age of 83. One of those stars who has been seen by millions, even though many may not have his name on the tip of their tongue, Capodice leaves behind a body of work that incorporates over 200 acting credits.

Although Capodice never had that lead role, or long-running stint in a TV show, he certainly made his mark in the industry. That can be seen in the tributes that poured in on social media following the announcement of the actor’s passing. The news of his death was announced in a posting by the Pizzi Funeral Home, which read:

“John was a devoted husband, father and grandfather and will be missed by all who had the pleasure to meet him.

Greg Gumbel, the sure-handed CBS sportscaster whose 50-year-plus career included hosting the NCAA men’s basketball tournament and The NFL Today and handling play-by-play for a pair of Super Bowls, has died. He was 78.

Gumbel’s death after a “courageous battle with cancer” was announced Friday in a statement from his wife, Marcy, and his daughter, Michelle.

“Greg approached his illness like one would expect he would, with stoicism, grace and positivity,” they said. “He leaves behind a legacy of love, inspiration and dedication to over 50 extraordinary years in the sports broadcast industry, and his iconic voice will never be forgotten.”

Survivors include his younger brother, Bryant Gumbel, former host of NBC’s Today show and HBO’s Real Sports.

Gumbel presided over CBS and/or Turner’s coverage of March Madness for 26 straight years, from 1998-2023, before missing the 2024 tournament because of what was described as “family health issues.

Classic action films Bad Boys and Bad Boys II are coming to Tubi, starting on Jan. 1, 2025. As The CW's 2023-24 slate takes shape, the revamped network has announced another exciting pickup.

It will be the new exclusive home of the Emmy® Award-winning weekly studio series Inside the NFL, it was announced today by Dennis Miller, President, The CW Network.

First premiering in 1977, Inside the NFL will kick off its 47th year of production this fall and air for the first time ever on broadcast television, making its CW debut on Tuesday, September 5 at 8:00 pm Et/Pt and streaming on The CW App and cwtv.com.

The 47th season of the series will begin airing on The CW on Sept. 5 at 8 p.m. Et/Pt, marking the first time the show has aired on a broadcast network. It will also be available to stream on The CW app and website.

The show comes to The CW from Paramount+, which aired it from 2021-2023. Per The CW, new hosts and producers for the new season will be announced at a later date.

The network has picked up the rights to highlights and analysis series Inside The NFL. It comes after the weekly series was dropped by Paramount+ earlier this year.

The move marks the first time that the series, which has been running since 1977, largely on HBO and then briefly on Showtime, has aired on broadcast television.

It will debut on September 5 at 8pm. It will also stream on The CW app.

It comes after The CW made the controversial decision to air the Liv Golf League and has been making noise about wanting to increase its sports coverage.

Produced by NFL Films, The CW is now looking for new hosts and producers. Previous hosts have included Dan Marino, Phil Simms, James Brown, Cris Carter, Cris Collinsworth, Brandon Marshall and Ray Lewis.

Growing up in the UK in the '80s and '90s, Channel 4 was an exciting new alternative to the staid safe havens of our other three terrestrial channels. Not only did it offer daring and sometimes controversial content that the BBC and ITV wouldn't touch, it also gave an exotic taster of global sport to our screens. We were introduced to the delights of Mongolian Yak Polo and Irish hurling on "Trans World Sport," while "Gazetta Football Italia" brought us a sexy European version of soccer after the success of the World Cup in 1990.

Then there was coverage of American Football. Channel 4 hooked many British viewers with the sport in the year it went live in 1982. From that moment, NFL grew in popularity as an alternative to our hooligan-blighted national game. By the time I first tuned in to see what all the fuss was about, they were done with explaining the rules.

Earlier today marked the end of an era, as heavy metal legend Ozzy Osbourne has announced that he's ending his touring career for good. His underlying health issues have made it difficult for the Black Sabbath singer to go through with the demanding requirements that a tour requires. Thankfully, Osbourne hasn't ruled out making an appearance down the line if the circumstances are right, given that he claims that his vocals are in pretty good shape.

For all of the waves he made on stage, however, Osbourne could also be seen popping in a movie every now and then for a small cameo. Putting the really problematic aspects (which we'll touch upon later) aside for a moment, let's not forget what an utterly unique force of nature Jim Carrey was when he burst onto our screens as Ace for the first time.

We hadn't really seen anything like it. Roger Ebert compared him to Jerry Lewis, but he was restrained by comparison. At his peak, Steve Martin did zany just about as well as anybody and Robin Williams was capable of leaving us breathless with his whirl of free-association improvisations, but they both seemed fully in control of what they were doing. A champion was crowned on Wednesday night’s Season 5 finale of “The Masked Singer.” The Piglet reigned supreme and took home the Golden Mask trophy after belting out a passionate rendition of “Faithfully” by Journey. When it came time to unmask the winner, 98 Degrees’ Nick Lachey was revealed as the talented farm animal. The Black Swan (Grammy winner JoJo) placed second and the Chameleon (rapper Wiz Khalifa) finished in third.

“I miss performing,” Nick told host Nick Cannon during his unmasked interview. “And that’s what this experience has done for me is remind me how much I love singing. How much I love music. I’ve had the best time going on this twisted, weird ride that is ‘The Masked Singer.’ My kids wanted me to do the show for so long. Daddy’s coming home with a little hardware!”

We’ve been sure about the real name of the Piglet since that first appearance. We concur with the four judges that the Piglet got his start in a boy band. However we don’t think he is Lance Bass, Brian Littrell, Aj McLean or Kevin Richardson.

“The Masked Singer” enters the “Spicy Six” round of its fifth season on Wednesday, an hour that featured not just the singing competition heating up, but the judges getting pretty fiery, too.

In TheWrap’s exclusive sneak peek from tonight’s episode, panelists Jenny McCarthy, Robin Thicke, Nicole Scherzinger, Ken Jeong and guest judge Chrissy Metz are getting a new clue about Piglet via “The Masked Singer’s” new “mind reader” device, when that pesky Cluedle-Doo interrupts their chance to find out whats *inside* Piglet’s head.

“What? You thought you’d be seeing into this piggy’s brain? Not with me around,” the rooster says in a video broadcast on the screen from his secret hideout. “I’ve been following this guy’s career since he caught touchdowns from Dan Marino. Toodle-oo from Cluedle-Doo.”

Allllrighty then! A new rumor has emerged claiming that Ace Ventura 3 is in the works, with X-Men star Evan Peters reportedly being sought after to take over as the hugely popular pet detective. Originally portrayed by Jim Carrey, the idea is to bring in Peters as the son of Carrey's character, who, much like his father, has an affinity for animals, Hawaiian shirts, and giant, pompadour styled hairdos.

Our favorite pet detective is back in action figure form, as the toymaker Neca has unveiled a new Ace Ventura: Pet Detective figure set to release this summer. This won't be the first Ace Ventura figure from Neca, as the company has previously released an alternate version of Ace with his trademark hairstyle and Hawaiian shirt. This new Neca figure will depict Ace as he appears when he goes undercover at the Shady Acres mental hospital to investigate the strange disappearance of Miami Dolphins kicker Ray Finkle.

Standing at 8" tall, the Shady Acres Ace Ventura figure is fully articulated. It comes clothed in a button-up shirt, plaid shorts, and pink tutu, just as Ace wore in the movie when he feigned mental illness to gain access to the facility's storage room. The figure also comes with two interchangeable heads, so you can change Ace's facial expression depending on how you want him posed.

Joe Rogan rewatched an old comedy classic recently -- "Ace Ventura: Pet Detective" -- and pointed out something which seems crazy obvious now ... It's Super Transphobic!!!
