- Dark-haired, RADA-trained British character actor with noticeably pock-marked countenance. Often on screen as police officers or military men, or, occasionally, as lead villain (eg Guy of Gisbourne, in The Legend of Robin Hood (1975)). Had a recurring role as a chief inspector in The Gentle Touch (1980). Originally aspired to a career as a writer.
- In 1968 he met his second wife, Katherina von Schell (the actress Catherine Schell), on the set of Amsterdam Affair (1968).
- Ex-brother-in-law of Hildegard Knef and Paul von Schell.
- Military service in the Fleet Air Arm.
- Brother of writer Derek Marlowe.
- Born in the Stratford East district of London.
- Perhaps best remembered as the diamond thief riding shotgun (while calling the shots) in the rudimentary car chase from Peter Yates's Robbery (a chase that landed Yates the job of directing Bullitt since Steve McQueen was a fan of Robbery, in particular that opening sequence).
