Grabbers, starring Richard Coyle, Ruth Bradley and Russell Tovey picked up by IFC Midnight. IFC Midnight has announced that they are acquiring North American and Latin American rights to the film scripted by Kevin Lehane, and helmed by Jon Wright, reports Deadline. Forward Films' Tracy Brimm and Kate Myers produce along with Martina Niland of Samson Films, High Treason's Eduardo Levy and James Martin, and The Salt Company's Piers Tempest. 'Tremors' Meets Lovecraft in 'Grabbers' Production
Sony Pictures Home Entertainment has nabbed U.K. rights to Irish comedy horror Grabbers. Helmed by Jon Wright and penned by Kevin Lehane, the creature feature stars Richard Coyle (Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time), Ruth Bradley (Flyboys) and Russell Tovey (The History Boys). It sees a sleepy Irish fishing village forced to fend off a blood-sucking sea creature with alcohol. The Salt Company is handling international sales for the pic, which has begun lensing in Belfast and Donegal. Brimm and Myers have partnered with Martina Niland and David Collins of Samson Films in Dublin, and Eduardo Levy and James Martin of High Treason Prods. in L.A., Piers Tempest of The Salt Company and U.K. commissioning producer Bear Rock Films. The deal was negotiated between Dave G. Bishop, head of acquisitions, Northern Europe Sphe and James Norrie of The Salt Company. Jay Cohen of The Gersh Agency is co-repping North American rights.
