Disney Wins Lawsuit Against Social Media Fake Merchandise Sellers
Image
Disney has just won a lawsuit against Christopher and Hannah Martin for selling bootleg Disney merchandise to their social media followers via their account “Sparkling Dreamers.” Before Disney took the issue to court, they sent the couple two cease and desist letters, which were ignored.

Normally, Disney doesn’t seem to get too involved if people are selling their designs for ears or shirts, but in this case, the couple apparently marked that the company address was Walt Disney World. This was enough for the Mouse to go after them. While they made some changes, they were still insufficient for Disney.

Apparently, they even tried to apply for a copyright registration with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office for their logo, which Disney said was a version similar to their trademarked Disneyland logo.

In January of 2023, Disney sent them a 700-page filing for a lawsuit against them.

Rihanna Shares How Life Has Changed Since Welcoming Her Son: “Everything Matters Now”
Image
Rihanna is good with her son, that’s the way it is! On Sunday, the Fenty Beauty mogul appeared on the first episode of “The Process with Nate Burleson” podcast and dished about motherhood and living for her son.

“My son, everything matters now,” the 34-year-old singer told the “CBS Mornings” host. “You really start to take a lot into account, like sky diving may go on the back burner for now. You really think about stuff like that. It’s not worth it.”

Rihanna and her boyfriend, Aap Rocky welcomed their little boy in May. The pair have yet to share their son’s name. And outside of one sweet video, the singer has not posted her son on social media.

The “Needed Me” singer shared that since welcoming her baby boy last year, life has changed.

“Everything is different,” she said. “Life before my son seems very obscure,...

Chris Martin calls Rihanna 'best singer of all time'
Image
Coldplay frontman Chris Martin is looking forward to watching Rihanna’s Super Bowl halftime performance and has described her as “the best singer of all time.” “I don’t know Rihanna very well. I’m mainly just a fan, and we have performed with her a few times, and you’re right, it is rarer and rarer for her to just sing, which is what makes it even more special, and in a strange way, it shows that she really, really wants to do it,” Martin, who will perform the halftime show on February 12, told Zane Lowe on Apple Music 1.

“No one can make Rihanna do anything at this point, and so I think the fact that she has chosen to do it now, when her stock couldn’t be … you have to be an idiot not to recognise that she’s the best singer of all time. So, it’s hard for me,...

The tour will ramp up again in March, kicking off with a six-night stint in Sao Paolo, Brazil before heading to Europe and then North America; the Brazil dates had to be rescheduled when frontman Chris Martin fell will with a lung infection after the Rock in Rio fest.

Jimmy Kimmel Celebrates 20th Anniversary of Talk Show by Deepfaking Himself — Watch
Image
January 26 marked the 20th anniversary of “Jimmy Kimmel Live!,” marking the longest tenure of any current late-night host in the United States. To celebrate, ABC aired a special primetime episode of the series, featuring throwbacks to the show’s original 2003 premiere — including the complete guest lineup from the show’s very first episode, with George Clooney, Snoop Dogg, and Coldplay frontman Chris Martin all stopping by. But the most surprising throwback was an interview Kimmel did with a very familiar guest: himself.

During a segment on the 20th-anniversary special, Kimmel showed the audience a picture of him from back in 2003, during the first edition of the ABC series. However, the photo glitched, and the younger Kimmel came to life and began speaking to his older counterpart about the changes over the two decades, including the deaths of celebrities like Michael Jackson, the invention of electronic cigarettes, the legalization of weed,...

It was the one thing that we got right.”

At the time, in 2003, Coldplay performed the A Rush of Blood to the Head single “Clocks” from outside...

The Chanel Suit Goes Short at the House’s Haute Couture Show Attended by Sadie Sink, Apple Martin
Image
Held at a usual Chanel spot — the Grand Palais Éphémère — the French House’s spring-summer 2023 Haute Couture collection is a continuation of creative director Virginie Viard’s spring-summer 2022 collection, unveiled exactly a year ago. In the words of the House “this new opus represents the third part of a triptych.”

In attendance at the presentation on Jan. 24 were Elvis director Baz Luhrman, and actresses Sadie Sink, Tilda Swinton, Marion Cotillard and Lucy Boynton. Apple Martin (Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin’s daughter), Vanessa Paradis, Charlotte Casiraghi, and Roger Federer were also sitting front row.

Starting almost on the dot, which can be unusual for fashion shows, the presentation began with large animal sculptures made from wood, cardboard and paper being pushed out into the center of the rectangular runway space, creating the feeling of a festive parade in a village square or sorts.

The inspiration for the collection is Gabrielle Chanel’s 31 rue Cambon apartment,...

Jimmy Kimmel hosts ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live!’ (ABC/Randy Holmes)

Has it really been 20 years? Apparently so, and ABC’s celebrating the 20th anniversary of Jimmy Kimmel Live! with a special episode airing in primetime.

The anniversary episode will air on Thursday, January 26, 2023 at 10pm Et/Pt with the late-night show’s original lineup of guests on board to help Kimmel celebrate. George Clooney, Snoop Dogg, and Coldplay were Kimmel’s guests on the show’s first episode, which aired on January 26, 2003. (Coldplay’s Chris Martin will represent the group for the anniversary special.)

“20 years. I can’t believe it either,” said Kimmel. “It makes absolutely no sense.”

“As everybody might imagine, it feels like it went by in the blink of an eye and it also feels like it’s been going on since the Middle Ages,” said Kimmel, speaking with Variety. “But it definitely gives me a sense of accomplishment.

Gwyneth Paltrow Jokes Kids ‘Ruin’ A Relationship: ‘It’s Really Hard!’
Image
Gwyneth Paltrow spoke about the effect having kids has on a relationship as she chatted to Katy Perry on the latest episode of her “Goop” podcast.

The lifestle guru, who shares 18-year-old Apple and Moses, 16, with ex-husband Chris Martin, shared: “It’s hard on a relationship.

“Like I’ve looked back now on like the data set of parents with young kids and it just … ruins the relationship,” she laughed, adding: “It’s really hard!” Page Six reported.

Perry added, “I think if both people in the relationship are willing to do the work then it’s going to be so much easier.

“But if one person thinks they don’t have any work to do then it’s going to be really challenging.”

House Party review – comedy remake is not worth the invite
LeBron James
The much-loved 1990 hit gets a flat, unnecessary upgrade with help from LeBron James and a host of other misfiring guests

“Party at LeBron’s” is a dynamite premise for a movie, especially if the King in question is the cheapskate egotist who stole the 2015 romcom Trainwreck as effortlessly as he would a lazy crosscourt pass. But it’s one thing for Judd Apatow and Amy Schumer to caricature the NBA great, quite another for James to take himself down a few pegs and bring one of the more beloved franchises in Black film cinema history with him.

House Party – like the forthcoming White Men Can’t Jump remake, also directed by Charles Kidd II (Aka Calmatic) – makes no titular attempt to distinguish itself from the 1990 classic. This latest edition, which premieres this weekend, doesn’t so much build on the story of the previous three films, or the two straight-to-dvd postscripts,...

House Party (2023) Review
Image
Plot: When a couple of friends find themselves fired from their cleaning job, they decide to make the most of the situation. Upon the discovery they are cleaning the legendary LeBron James’ home, they make a pact to bring the House Party there while the homeowner is away on retreat.

Review: In 1990, Christopher Reid and Christopher Martin (Aka Kid ‘N Play) gave audiences a laugh in House Party. Several less-than-stellar sequels followed up the funny feature. Considering the quality of each installment lessened rapidly, you can’t keep a franchise down. Kid ‘N Play may have been all partied out after the third film, but it didn’t stop the franchise from continuing. We now have the latest, a new take on the original film. And while the storyline here is ridiculous and shouldn’t work, the latest House Party is a fun flick with an abundance of cool cameos.

‘House Party’ Review: The Bubblegum Hip-Hop ’90s Comedy Classic Gets Remade Without the Joy
Image
The 1990 bubblegum hip-hop comedy “House Party,” starring Kid ‘n Play, was a movie that channeled the flavor of its moment, and influenced a lot of what came afterward. It opened in March 1990 and helped to launch the spirit of the ’90s — something at once edgy and optimistic, infused with a rogue bravura that was made to conquer. Hip-hop had been on the rise for a decade, and by the late ’80s the preeminence of N.W.A. and Public Enemy had brought an ominous new profound power to hip-hop. In the summer of 1989, Spike Lee released “Do the Right Thing,” and that movie, with its fight-the-power core, was of course a Black cinematic apotheosis suffused with equal parts exuberance and trauma.

Somehow landing in the middle of all that, here was “House Party,” a naughty rollicking New Line comedy that was comparable, in many ways, to the John Hughes films or “Animal House.

‘House Party’ Review: ’90s Cult Classic Gets a Fun-Free ‘Remix’
Image
The original 1990 House Party was no masterpiece, but it featured infectious energy, enjoyable hijinks, two appealing leads in Christopher Reid and Christopher Martin (better known as the hip-hop duo “Kid ‘n Play”), and a very talented supporting cast including Robin Harris, Martin Lawrence, Tisha Campbell and John Witherspoon among others. The landmark teen comedy went on to spawn four sequels (the less said about, the better) and has now been given, in the words of director Calmatic, “a remix, not a remake.” The problem is that this remixed House Party is one to which audiences will regret accepting the invitation.

This film’s party doesn’t take place in any old house, but rather a palatial L.A. mansion belonging to LeBron James. Apparently not learning the lesson taught by Space Jam: A New Legacy that, as an actor, James makes a great basketball player, screenwriters Jamal Olori and Stephen Glover...

BTS' Jin breaks record with solo single 'The Astronaut'
Image
K-pop superband BTS member Jin’s hit ‘The Astronaut’ has become the fastest single by a solo artist to reach a million copies. Following the K-Pop boy band’s collaboration with Chris Martin and company on the mega-hit ‘My Universe’ on the band’s 2021 LP ‘Music of the Spheres’, the 29-year-old star teamed up with the “Yellow” hitmakers to pen his latest track, reports aceshowbiz.com.

‘The Astronaut’ has since broken a new astronomical record. It has shifted more than 1,024,382 copies as of November 12, according to The Korea Economic Daily.

As well as adding to the lyrics, Coldplay play on the track and Chris plays a news presenter in the accompanying music video.

Meanwhile, Chris previously said that he doesn’t think Coldplay will ever beat their BTS collaboration.

The 45-year-old musician said: “I don’t think we’ll ever be able to match the BTS surprise. That was surprising even for us.

House Party trailer: Jacob Latimore and Tosin Cole throw a rager to remember at LeBron’s place
Image
It’s been ages since I got invited to a cinematic rager like the parties we used to see in the 1990s. Today, you can’t throw back a few cocktails without having someone stick a camera in front of your face, documenting all your misdeeds. Kid and Play would be ashamed, and for a good reason. However, Jacob Latimore and Tosin Cole hope to honor the tradition of trashing a house the old-fashioned way with a celebration that breaks all the rules. Put on a slick fit and roll a few doobs because Calmatic’s House Party trailer is here to take gatherings to the next level.

Produced by The Springhill Company and distributed by New Line Cinema and Warner Bros. Pictures, House Party is a remake of 1990’s House Party, starring Kid (Christopher Reid) and Play (Christopher Martin). Jamal Olori and Stephen Glover wrote the script, with LeBron James...

LeBron James
‘House Party’ Remake Goes Inside LeBron James’ Crib for a Wild Bash in Its First Trailer (Video)
LeBron James
LeBron James certainly has a sense of humor. The first trailer for his remake of the 1990 comedy “House Party” takes us inside his massive crib and even into his closet, where LeBron has a life-size hologram designed to butter him up each morning.

“You are one handsome motherf—er,” the James hologram says to the film’s two protagonists in its first trailer. “You handled the decision to go to Miami perfectly.”

The new “House Party” follows two aspiring club promoters and best buds (Tosin Cole and Jacob Latimore) tasked with cleaning James’ house before deciding to throw a massive party while James is away in order to fund their future.

ABC News Readies ’20/20′ Portrait of George Floyd
Image
ABC News will offer a portrait of the life of George Floyd in a two-hour “20/20” slated to air April 23 at 9 p.m. eastern.

The program will feature interviews with Gianna Floyd, Floyd’s youngest daughter; friends and family of Floyd; Christopher Martin, the former store clerk who testified that he regretted taking the allegedly counterfeit $20 bill from Floyd; Maya Santamaria, the former nightclub owner who employed both Floyd and Chauvin; and Clarence Castile, uncle of Philando Castile.

Many TV-news programs have responded to this week’s verdict finding police officer Derek Chauvin guilty of killing Floyd while he was in the custody of Minneapolis police last year. On Wednesday, all three of the broadcast-network morning shows had anchors and correspondents on the ground in Minneapolis. ABC News’ ‘The View,” for example has rescheduled some of the guests it had planned for this week in favor of talking to people...

Under the Wire (2018)
‘Under the Wire’ Film Review: Hard-Hitting Doc Examines the Woman Behind ‘A Private War’
Under the Wire (2018)
When does sacrifice become sanctimonious? That’s the question that nags in “Under the Wire,” Christopher Martin’s documentary about fallen Sunday Times war correspondent Marie Colvin and her partner, photojournalist Paul Conroy.

Over and over we’re told what a singular person Colvin was, adamant to tell stories about civilian victims in war-ravaged Syria regardless of personal, and arguably foolish, risk. She’d refuse orders to evacuate particularly dangerous areas and would return if she had briefly given in.

And Colvin paid the ultimate price, having been killed in February 2012 in a bombing in the hotbed of Homs that’s rumored to have been a specified attack on the media center in which she worked, a day after delivering an impromptu broadcast on CNN about a child whom she and Conroy watched die. She believed that such a personalized report would move people to act, but her voice was silenced.

The top 20 underappreciated films of 1990
Odd List Simon Brew Ryan Lambie 19 Sep 2013 - 07:20

From dramas to action and everything in between, here's our pick of 20 underrated films from 1990...

Think back to the big films of 1990, and you'll probably immediately come up with things like Ghost, the year's top-grossing film, or maybe Home Alone, which made a star out of the young Macaulay Culkin.

If you're into sci-fi or action, you might pluck Total Recall, Back To The Future Part III or even Die Hard 2 out of your memory banks. But what about all those movies that didn't make it into the year's top 10 ranking films? As ever, there's a huge number of duds and forgettable flops, but there were plenty of films that were wrongly overlooked, too.

That's where this list comes in, which aims to shed a bit of light on 20 films that were either unfairly overlooked by audiences at the time, or...

Did You Know There’s A New ‘House Party’ Movie?
Well it is, but it isn’t.We have to admit that this one sort of slipped by us, but, last week, House Party 5: Tonight’s The Night came out - straight to DVD, of course, on Warner Home Video. Now, wouldn’t it have been fantastic and really interesting if the film had been a tragicomedy about the now middle-aged and divorced Kid ‘n Play trying to find their purpose in life, and explore a new path now that their youthful indiscretions are well past them? But no such luck...What House Party 5 is instead, is a sort of Step-Up movie ripoff, with two bland interracial leads, though Kid ‘n Play, as you can see from the image and trailer below, do make a cameo appearance. But from...

New on DVD: House Party – Tonight’s the Night (2013)
Hey, look, kids! Due to popular demand, there’s a new direct-to-dvd “House Party” sequel, which just landed at a party near you yesterday. You know what that means, right? Paaaaaaaaaaartay! Chris has it all worked out: he’s ready to leave high school behind and head to college in his sweet new ride. The problem is, he’ll be leaving behind his best friend and partner in rhyme, Dylan. And he still has to get with Autumn, the girl he’s had a crush on since second grade. The solution? Throw one last party where Chris and Dylan can show off their skills with words and women. But a little get-together becomes a hilariously epic disaster where anything can happen and anyone might turn up… including the original house partyers, Kid ‘n Play. Darrin Scott’s film stars Tequan Richmond (“Everybody Hates Chris”), Zac Goodspeed (“Modern Family,” “True Jackson,...

Gutai artists (various) Gutai: Splendid Playground Solomon R. Guggenheim Through May 8, 2013 "Discarding the frame, getting off the walls, shifting from immobile time to lived time, we aspire to create a new painting." Suburō Murakami, Osaka, 1957

"Kick out the jams, motherfuckers!" MC5, Detroit, 1968

The Guggenheim Museum's Gutai: Splendid Playground presents the work of Japan's most influential avant-garde collective of the postwar era. Founded by the visionary artist Jirō Yoshihara in 1954, the Gutai group was legendary in its own time.

Its young members explored new art forms, combining performance, painting, and interactive environments, and realized an "international common ground" of experimental art through the worldwide reach of their exhibition and publication activities.

The Gutai Art Association (active 1954-72) originated in Ashiya, near Osaka, in western Japan. Spanning two generations, the group totaled fifty-nine Japanese artists over its eighteen-year history. The name "Gutai" literally means "concreteness" and captures the direct engagement with materials...

The best outdoor ads of 2012

1. Pedestrian Council of Australia – Girl

A girl lying on the ground with blood in the shape of earphones gives maximum impact in this ad for the Pedestrian Council of Australia from Ddb Sydney. Part of a campaign to raise awareness about listening to music near traffic, the execution is clever in its simplicity, backed by the tagline ‘don’t tune out’.

2. Virgin Australia – Aus to USA

Swiping a well-deserved Gold Outdoor Lion at Cannes, this play on words hit home for Clemenger Bbdo Sydney.

3. St Vincent de Paul – Steve

The Ship Of Fear will be a cruise boat adventure with some of the greatest directors and actors from the horror genre onboard (featuring notables from The Lost Boys, Gremlins, Friday The 13th, Pet Sematary, and more), along with rock stars, illusionists, performance artists, and presumably all sorts of horror gags for its five nights of fun in the ocean. Movie Review: 21 Jump Street – Flips 80s Archetypes on Their Back
21 Jump Street the movie doesn’t try to recreate the police procedural drama of the 80s. Instead of giving viewers another overdone Will Ferrell remake, that’s more spoof than homage, the movie embraces the stereotypes of the past with self-referential humor. The meta style is abundantly clear in an opening monologue from Parks and Recreation star Nick Offerman. As the police chief, he tells Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum that the two will be a part of a cancelled 80s police program that needs work because all they do is “recycle old ideas.”

In the opening sequence, the movie establishes Rat Pack clichés worthy of The Breakfast Club. Hill is a blond-haired, Eminem wannabe. Tatum is the jock that makes fun of him. Instead of dwelling on these stereotypes, the film tosses them way without remorse. At a police test, which Tatum can’t pass to save his life,...

13 Movie Parties We Wish We'd Attended
From the looks of it, the party at the center of "Project X" is an epic teen throwdown to rival the best of them. No wonder, since it's produced by "The Hangover" director Todd Phillips.

To mark this Friday's release of the sure-to-be raucous flick, we've weeded through some of our favorite party films of all time to pick the 13 best movie parties we wish we'd attended. From "Animal House"s' infamous toga party to Will Ferrell streaking at a Snoop Dogg concert in "Old School," one thing's for certain: These parties rocked.

If only life were more like the movies.

'National Lampoon’s Animal House': Toga Party

As anyone who's seen this raunchy classic from John Landis ("The Blues Brothers") can attest, "Animal House" has the most epic toga party ever committed to celluloid. That's no small feat, especially considering (get this) it was the first ever one put on film.

Nick Cannon’s First Directorial Effort to Be ‘House Party’-Like
Since his humble beginnings on Nickelodeon Nick Cannon has spread to nearly every entertainment medium you can think of, hosting TV shows (America’s Got Talent), starring in movies (Love Don’t Cost a Thing), impregnating famous pop divas (Mariah Carey) and even hosting his own radio show in New York City. And now he’s looking to conquer another job: that of a film director.

New York Post (via Cinema Blend) reports that Cannon is readying a “modern version” of the classic 90′s trilogy House Party that starred rappers/actors Kid ‘n Play. Cannon had this to say about the project:

“[I’m] taking a lot of the young hip-hop acts of today and putting them in a movie with a bunch of comedians, make something happen there”

Even though it can be taken at such, I implore you not to assume that means he’s remaking House Party. In fact...
