Appearing onstage Thursday at SXSW, Michelle Obama never mentioned Donald Trump by name, but the former First Lady certainly tried to capture the tone of our times.
“We know people are going through some tough times, and I don’t think Craig and I are feeling any different than anyone out there,” Obama told the Austin audience of about 2,500 in a live recording of a new podcast series with her brother, Imo with Michelle Obama & Craig Robinson.
President Barack Obama and President Bill Clinton have been largely Awol since a retaliation-fueled Trump was sworn in January 20, so the anticipation around Obama and National Association of Basketball Coaches executive director Robinson’s podcast was high after it was unveiled this week.
The first significant public appearance by Michelle Obama, who missed both Jimmy Carter’s funeral and Trump’s inauguration, saw the ex-First Lady leaning deftly into her target market today.

Kelly Clarkson‘s former husband, Brandon Blackstock, has been ordered to pay over $2.6 million to the acclaimed singer due to his involvement in several mishandled business transactions.
As Clarkson’s manager, Blackstock engaged in contractual agreements on her behalf, a responsibility that should have been undertaken by her agent.
A California labor commissioner ruled that Blackstock is obligated to pay Clarkson a sum of $2,641,374 for the fees he received from these deals, which encompassed contracts related to The Voice and the Billboard Music Awards.
The ruling states, “Under the Talent Agencies Act (Taa), a manager, like any person without a talent agency license, cannot procure or attempt to procure employment for artists.”
Clarkson and Blackstock began to date in 2013 and tied the knot in the same year. Their marriage ended when Clarkson, winner of American Idol season one, filed for divorce from Blackstock in 2020. The divorce was finalized two years later.

Author Raquel Cepeda once said, "The role of hip-hop journalists is to document hip-hop with integrity." Fifty years ago, that esteemed role did not yet exist, for the culture was too young and too niche to find its way into literary archives and journalistic coverage. But seeing how far hip-hop has come, times have changed, and so have the rules for those documenting it - namely, us women.
The role of women hip-hop journalists, unfortunately by today's standards, is not just to report on the culture earnestly. Thanks to sexism, patriarchy, and misogyny, we don't get that luxury. Our skills and knowledge are always under a microscope in this "boys' club," as we've oftentimes been seen as the ill-informed who stumbled our way into this space and not as the revered who helped build, refine, and make it better; as those who've made it safer to tell ours and others' stories.

Once upon a time, Lil' Kim gathered Missy Elliott, Da Brat, Lisa "Left Eye" Lopes, and Angie Martinez to record a sequel to her "Hardcore" offering "Not Tonight." Together, at the height of their careers, the seasoned rap stars and a "rookie on this all-star team" (Martinez) released their 1997 hit "Ladies Night Remix," one of the greatest female collaborations in hip-hop history. Not only did the iconic, femme-forward track dominate on radio, sweep up a 1998 Grammy nomination, and become an official girls-night-out staple, but its massive success set the tone for what future female rap collaborations would aspire to be, even to this day.
Kim's original "Not Tonight" is raunchier than its remixed anthem, as it sounds more like a sultry after-hours track where the rap star doesn't mince words about her demands for lip service - "I don't want d*ck tonight / Eat my p*ssy right." But the "Ladies Night Remix,...

Juneteenth, which falls on June 19, commemorates the fall of slavery in the United States.
It celebrates the anniversary of the order made by Major General Gordon Granger on June 1965 that proclaimed freedom for slaves in Texas. The order was actually made two years after Abraham Lincoln issued the Emancipation Proclamation.
In a tweet Monday, former President Obama explained it as the “delayed but welcome news of freedom reaching the enslaved Black folks in Galveston, Texas.” In 2021, President Biden made Juneteenth a federal holiday.
Many networks are marking the occasion with Juneteenth TV specials or movie marathons showcasing Black talent and/or excellence. See our viewing guide below:

Barack Obama is admitting there is some validity to Michelle Obama‘s gripes about their early marriage.
During a sit-down interview with “CBS Mornings” co-host Nate Burleson, the former president responded to his wife’s comments from a panel last year, where she admitted that there was a 10-year period early in her marriage when she “couldn’t stand” her husband.
When asked how he’s been able to get back into Michelle’s good graces, Barack candidly replied that “it sure helps to be out of the White House.”
The 61-year-old politician went on to share that having “a little more time” to spend with his spouse has also contributed to their happier marriage.
“What also helps though, about children… Michelle, when our girls were growing up, that was priority number one, two, three and four. And so, I did not fully appreciate, I think, as engaged of a father I was,...

Kelly Clarkson is modifying the lyrics to “Abdefu” to fit the status of her own heartbreak. On Thursday, during her Kellyoke segment on the Kelly Clarkson Show, the host gave Gayle’s breakout hit a twist, referencing her divorce.
“Forget you and your dad/And the fact you got half,” Clarkson sang. (It would’ve been “fuck you” if this didn’t air at 4 p.m.) “And my broken heart/Turned that shit into art.” (The “shit” part was censored.)
The lyrics reference Clakrson’s contentious divorce from her ex-husband Brandon Blackstock.

Kim Kardashian fans are accusing her of stretching the truth again, and they think The Kardashians star is a habitual liar. Kim was recently a guest on the Angie Martinez Irl Podcast, where she gave fans an inside scoop on her current life. Kim admitted co-parenting with her ex-husband Kanye West isn't easy, but she's very protective over her children and makes sure they know nothing about what's going on with Kanye in the media. Kim says she had such a great relationship with her father, Robert Kardashian, and she wants her children to admire their dad as much as she admired hers.
However, Kim's fans aren't buying it. Reddit user imsoappalled222 watched Kim's interview and admitted they "fully realized that Kim is a habitual liar." The fan believes that most of what Kim said in the interview can be debunked. Kim claimed in the interview that North only had...

The former first lady Michelle Obama stated that there was a decade in her relationship with her husband Barack Obama where “she couldn’t stand” him.
The former first lady was promoting her new book The Light We Carry: Overcoming in Uncertain Times in which she shares her tools to overcome moments of uncertainty, helplessness and self-doubt.
“People think I’m being catty by saying this – it’s like, there were 10 years where I couldn’t stand my husband,” she said at a roundtable for Revolt TV. “And guess when it happened? When those kids were little.”
Obama, 58, was speaking with moderator Angie Martinez as well as panelists H.E.R., Winnie Harlow, Kelly Rowland and Beyoncé’s mother Tina Knowles-Lawson about the work imbalance in their marriage when her husband’s political career was finding early success and she was responsible for taking care of their daughters, Sasha and Malia.

Kim Kardashian has revealed the struggle of co-parenting with her ex-husband Kanye West.
The mom of four broke down when she went on the Irl podcast with Angie Martinez to talk about how she’s been parenting since her divorce from West, whose recent erratic behaviors and alt-right tangents have tanked his brand deals, net worth and his legacy.
In Memoriam 2022: 100 Great Celebrities Who Died This Year!
Kardashian admitted she does what she can to protect West “in the eyes of my kids.” She said she monitors what they see on TV and online and is friends with their teachers who assure her that other kids don’t talk about West at school.
Although she didn’t explicitly address West’s antisemitic comments or his recent outbursts, she said shielding her kids from media coverage about him is like a full-time job.

Kim Kardashian from The Kardashians got candid and emotional about what it's like co-parenting and trying to date with Kanye West as her ex-husband. Kim and Kanye finalized their divorce late last month. It took nearly two years to finalize the split due to difficulties with getting Kanye on the same page with the proceedings. The rap/fashion mogul has experienced a drastic fall from grace due to his controversial remarks on religion and society. But while the public bashes and cancels Kanye, Kim still has four children to raise with the former billionaire.
As Kim continues on in the wake of her divorce from Kanye, she is sharing how "hard" it is to co-parent and date with him as her ex. When it comes to dating, Kim thinks Kanye's erratic behavior might be scaring people off. “There’s a part of me that is like, ‘Oh my god, is...

If there’s one thing fans have said about The Kardashians since its premiere is that it’s boring and offers nothing to its audience. When Keeping Up With The Kardashians ended, the famous family decided on a new format for their Hulu series. Kim Kardashians didn’t give fans a look into her divorce from Kanye West and never addressed any of the drama he’s caused. Fans have been begging the family to make a major change to their show.

Kim Kardashian opened up about life with her ex-husband Kanye West during a Dec. 26 interview on "Angie Martinez Irl." Ashanti is finally speaking out about Irv Gotti and the comments he's made about the nature of their relationship. The "Foolish" singer's response comes months after Gotti, founder of Murder Inc. After staying silent and refusing to appear in Gotti's documentary, Ashanti set the record straight during her appearance on Angie Martinez's "Irl" podcast.

20 years ago today on Oct. 11, 2002, Rick Famuyiwa's classic rom-com "Brown Sugar" made its theatrical debut and introduced the world to a cinematic hip-hop love story like no other. After two decades, the nostalgic film remains one of the blueprints for Black romance and hip-hop storytelling. But something else from "Brown Sugar" has also stood the test of time: Sanaa Lathan's incomparable Sidney "Sid" Shaw.
On the surface, "Brown Sugar" tells an affectionate story about Sidney and her childhood friend-turned-lover, Andre "Dre" Ellis (played by Taye Diggs) - a journalist and music executive, respectively, who find love through their shared appreciation for hip-hop. As a kid, that's all I acknowledged the movie as - a simple rom-com. But at 25 years old, I've found more common ground with the film beyond just being a fan of hip-hop, and that's all thanks to Sidney.

DaniLeigh is speaking out about her relationship with rapper DaBaby, the father of their daughter. The pair’s contentious relationship was made public in November 2021, when the rapper called the police on DaniLeigh, claiming she had assaulted him during a fight; the incident was streamed on Instagram Live, and DaniLeigh was eventually charged with two counts of assault.
DaniLeigh opened up about her “on and off” relationship with DaBaby in a new interview with Angie Martinez. “It was toxic. We had our really good times. We were in love,” she said.

I hold strong to the belief that you shouldn't mess with perfection but in the case of Cardi B and Megan thee Stallion's "Wap," I prefer to think of this exercise as going the extra mile to reach a god-tier level of transcendence. The single and music video are collaborative masterpieces (which I would know a thing or two about) with the two rappers alone, but the addition of some key voices in a mega-remix would make "Wap" a historic record among the likes of Lil' Kim's "Ladies Night (Not Tonight Remix)" featuring Missy Elliott, Da Brat, Left Eye, and Angie Martinez and Moulin Rouge! version of "Lady Marmalade" with Christina Aguilera, Lil' Kim, Mýa, and Pink.
Ahead, I've rounded up a list of several artists that would not only look damn good in those sexy, luxurious looks from the video but would take "Wap" from a certified bop to legendary status.
