World’s saddest detective is back to solve another mystery as Perry Mason debuts Season 2. Based on the characters by author Erle Stanley Gardner and set in the Depression era of the 1930s, Perry and his friends Della, and Paul have returned after a 3-year hiatus. To hype the fans further for the season ahead, HBO Max has revealed a Weeks Ahead trailer outlining the conflict, the case, and Perry’s troubles.

The Americans star Matthew Rhys excitedly discusses the possibility of reviving the hit spy drama. Along with Keri Russell, Rhys led The Americans for six seasons on FX. Set during the Cold War, the show focused on Elizabeth (Russell) and Philip Jennings (Rhys) as two Soviet Kgb intelligence officers and how they lived their lives undercover as American parents. Even though the story came to a definitive end in 2018, the actors and the creative team have occasionally been asked about possibly bringing back the Emmy-winning thriller.

Not that many details have been released about the second season, but there's enough to confidently guess that this time, Perry Mason (played by Matthew Rhys) will get wrapped up in a fictionalized version of the Greystone Mansion murders. These deaths are the subject of ongoing fascination, as one the victims was a member of one of Los Angeles' wealthiest families, the Dohenys.

Perry Mason returns for season 2 nearly three years after it first debuted on HBO. After creators and showrunners Rolin Jones and Ron Fitzgerald stepped down, Jack Amiel and Michael Begler stepped in to work alongside executive producers Robert Downey Jr. and Susan Downey. But the show was critically acclaimed and extremely popular so now, nearly three years later, it is returning to HBO (and HBO Max) with a juicy new case, lots of morally ambiguous complications and a pair of new showrunners in “The Knick” creators Jack Amiel and Michael Begler.

And Matthew Rhys, who plays Perry Mason in the show, couldn’t be more thrilled, as he told TheWrap, video of which you can watch above.

"Perry Mason" is coming back after three long years. A lot has happened in those years, and if the trailer is any indication, a lot has changed for the core characters in the aftermath of the events from season 1. Matthew Rhys plays the titular character of the show, but the series is more of an ensemble affair with Juliet Rylance and Chris Chalk's characters, Della Street and Paul Drake, filling out the triumvirate of leads.

I had the chance to talk with Rylance and Chalk in advance of the season 2 premiere, where they discussed where their characters are now compared to when we last saw them. "We begin the season as three very isolated people trying to figure out how to work together and be in the same room," Rylance explained, and also shared that Della in particular "is trying to find a new way."

The classic ‘80s psychothriller Fatal Attraction is back, and just like its iconic villain, Alex Forrest, it’s coming right into your home. Paramount+ has released the official trailer for its reimagination of the 1987 flick, which will premiere with three episodes on April 30th.

Produced by Paramount Television Studios and Amblin Television, the series stars Joshua Jackson as Manhattan lawyer Dan Gallagher and Lizzy Caplan as Forrest, and follows the two as their affair descends into a thrilling psychosexual exploration of relationships, gender dynamics, and psyche in the modern world.

Alexandra Cunningham leads the project as writer and showrunner, and served as executive producer alongside Kevin J. Hynes (Perry Mason), Darryl Frank (The Americans), Justin Falvey (The Americans), and Silver Tree, the latter of whom directed five of the series’ eight episodes.

After premiering in the United States and Canada on April 30th, new episodes will be available for streaming weekly on Sundays.

HBO Max has recently been on a mighty winning streak with a string of some of the biggest shows on television including House of the Dragon and The White Lotus Season 2, and their latest smash hit The Last of Us will premiere its season finale this month and just a week later they'll keep the party going with the Season 4 premiere of Succession, which was recently revealed as the final season of the acclaimed series. Nearly three years have passed since the gritty reboot of the TV courtroom classic “Perry Mason” debuted on HBO, switching out the case-of-the-week format for one overarching trial. Colman Domingo signs on to star in Netflix’s ‘The Madness’

Fear the Walking Dead‘s Colman Domingo will star in The Madness, a limited series just greenlit at Netflix. The conspiracy thriller was created by Stephen Belber (The Laramie Project) and is part of Chernin Entertainment’s first look deal with the streaming service.

Belber and VJ Boyd (Justified) are co-showrunners of the eight-episode series, and both serve as executive producers along with Peter Chernin, Jenno Topping, and Kaitlin Dahill.

Emmy winner Colman Domingo will star in Netflix’s upcoming limited conspiracy thriller “The Madness,” which has just received a series order under Chernin Entertainment’s (The North Road Company) first-look deal at the streamer.

In the eight-episode drama, media pundit Muncie Daniels (Domingo) must fight for his innocence and livelihood after he stumbles upon a murder deep in the Poconos woods. As the walls close in, Muncie strives to reconnect with his estranged family — and his lost ideals — in order to survive.

The project hails from co-showrunners VJ Boyd and Stephen Belber, who also serves as creator. The duo will also executive produce alongside Peter Chernin, Jenno Topping and Kaitlin Dahill. As previously reported, Clément Virgo (“Greenleaf”) will direct and executive produce the first two and concluding two episodes. Quyen Tran (“Maid”) and Jessica Lowrey (“Perry Mason”) will each direct two middle episodes.

A reimagining of the hit 1987 psychological thriller about a woman who becomes obsessed with a married man after a brief affair, the series stars Joshua Jackson and Lizzy Caplan as Dan Gallagher and Alex Forrest, respectively, the roles made famous by Michael Douglas and Glenn Close. Amanda Peet plays Beth Gallagher, Dan’s wife originally portrayed by Anne Archer. Alyssa Jirrels plays their daughter Ellen, whose pet bunny is infamously boiled by Alex in the film.

Paul Mason, the screenwriter, producer and studio executive who penned episodes of Ben Casey, Ironside and CHiPs, created The Bold Ones: The New Doctors with Steven Bochco and served as president of Viacom Pictures, has died. He was 92.

Mason died Dec. 26 at his home in West Hills, his son Barry Jacobs announced.

At the start of his six-decade career, Mason co-wrote Angel Baby (1961), a drama that starred George Hamilton, Mercedes McCambridge, Joan Blondell and, in his film debut, Burt Reynolds.
