Todd Stashwick joins the MCU as an obscure Marvel Comics character named Paladin. But who is Paladin, and what will non-comics fans need to know before watching Vision Quest?
Here’s the Tl;Dr…
Todd Stashwick, fresh off his standout role in Star Trek: Picard, will suit up as Marvel’s lesser-known mercenary Paladin in the upcoming Disney+ series Vision Quest.
Showrunner Terry Matalas (who worked with Stashwick on Picard) revealed the casting at a recent Star Trek convention, teasing Paladin as a potential assassin targeting Vision’s tech.
Paladin’s a morally gray, action-ready gun-for-hire—perfect for stirring the pot in Vision’s soul-searching storyline, which could also tease Ultron’s return.
New to the character? Think principled mercenary with enhanced abilities—worth brushing up on Vision’s MCU history to catch the deeper connections.

Vision showrunner Terry Matalas was a guest at this weekend's "Star Trek Las Vegas" convention and dropped a couple of exciting MCU updates during a Q&a with fans.
There have been rumblings for some time about Star Trek: Picard star Todd Stashwick (Starfleet Captain Liam Shaw) playing an assassin tasked with capturing the former Avenger, and Matalas has finally confirmed that he will play Vision's Paladin.
Created by writer Jim Shooter and artist Carmine Infantino, the character first appeared in Daredevil #150, and while he's not strictly a supervillain, his mercenary activities often bring him into conflict with characters like Spider-Man and The Punisher.
The biggest news to come out of Matalas's appearance is that Stashwick's Picard co-star, Orla Brady, will be taking over the role of F.R.I.D.A.Y. (in "human" form) from Kerry Condon. The F1: The Movie star lent her voice to Tony Stark's A.

Marvel Studios’ third WandaVision spin-off is almost ready to move into post-production. After production designer Will Hughes-Jones teased that an unnamed Marvel project would wrap filming in July, it has now been confirmed that Vision Quest is the series that will wrap next week after months of production at Pinewood Studios in London. The series will mark Paul Bettany’s long-awaited return as Vision, continuing the story that began in the WandaVision finale, where the “White Vision” was rebuilt with no emotional memory of his past life.
While Marvel has yet to confirm a release window, the latest update means the series is one step closer to becoming a reality on Disney+, likely during the 2026 release slate. Fans of WandaVision and its first spin-off, Agatha All Along, now have another series to start looking forward to, as Vision Quest promises to explore the themes of identity and self-discovery that mirror...

Marvel fans, get ready — White Vision (Paul Bettany) is almost back online. Vision Quest, one of the MCU’s most secretive upcoming projects, just got a significant behind-the-scenes update that suggests the series is farther along than expected. According to production designer Will Hughes-Jones, an unnamed Marvel project — widely believed to be Vision Quest — is now set to wrap filming next month.
Paul Bettany returns as Vision, but it’s a very different version than the one who charmed Wanda and viewers alike. Following the events of WandaVision, the synthezoid was rebuilt and reprogrammed before experiencing an existential awakening — and flying off to an uncertain future. Showrunner Terry Matalas recently teased that Vision Quest will pick up directly from that moment, telling The Sackhoff Show podcast that the show “is following that character, and that character’s journey.”
Matalas, fresh off Star Trek: Picard, hinted at the complexity of working within Marvel canon.

The upcoming live-action movie based on Magic: The Gathering has secured a couple of writers. Deadline reports that Noah Gardner & Aidan Fitzgerald have closed to deal to write the movie for Legendary Entertainment and Hasbro Entertainment.
The pair have previously worked with Hasbro on the Power Rangers movie, which was supposed to have been directed by Jonathan Entwistle. They also worked on The Trench, the Aquaman spinoff, which would have been a secret Black Manta movie. Most recently, they wrote a TV series for Amazon based on Trancers, the cult classic sci-fi movie. Leigh Whannell is attached to direct the series.
Matt Johnson (BlackBerry) was eyed to direct Magic: The Gathering earlier this year, but it’s unclear if that deal has moved forward.

We haven't seen the powerful supervillain known as Ultron since 2015's Avengers: Age of Ultron, and fans have been hoping to see the megalomaniacal AI make his return to the MCU ever since.
Back in Auguest, the news broke that James Spader is set to reprise the role for the planned Disney+ Vision series, which is being described as "the third part of a trilogy that started with WandaVision and continued in Agatha All Along."
Ultron was created by Tony Stark and Bruce Banner to be part of a peacekeeping program that was meant to "put a shield around the Earth" as a defence against invasion, but the AI ended up turning against humanity and was ultimately destroyed by his "son" Vision towards the end of Age of Ultron.

Idw’s chief editor, Heather Antos, claimed that the Star Trek franchise effectively created the blueprint for shared cinematic universes like Star Wars and the MCU. Idw has been publishing a fan favorite line of comics for the past few years with the ‘God War’ line and Star Trek: Defiant. The stories have been quite popular among the fans.
The Star Trek franchise predates many of the biggest franchises at the moment. From the MCU to even the MonsterVerse, the idea of a shared universe was pioneered by Star Trek with its various crossovers and exploration of the multiverse. Antos mentioned that she believed that without the sci-fi series, there would not be an MCU or Star Wars.
While the Star Trek franchise has indeed impacted the pop culture of America and has also had some grassroots-level impact, the shows have also benefited from the wins of its successors, especially the Star Wars franchise.

One long-rumored cast member of the upcoming Vision Quest series may not be a part of the series after all. The project has been in development since October 2022 and is the second spin-off of WandaVision, which premiered in 2021. The first spin-off, released last year, was Agatha All Along, starring Kathryn Hahn. The show will pick up Vision's story from WandaVision, in which he fought a version of himself that helped him to restore his memories after being used as a weapon by S.W.O.R.D. With its central premise surrounding artificial intelligence, a rumor had been circulating that Kerry Condon, who voices F.R.I.D.A.Y. (Iron Man's AI), will get a body of their own in the series. Now, Condon herself has commented on the possibility.

Is Kerry Condon truly confirmed to be portraying the human form of F.R.I.D.A.Y. in the upcoming Vision Disney+ series?
While walking the red carpet for the premiere of F1, Condon stated that the rumor was not true.
"It's not true. I saw that and I was like, "Who's saying these things?'," exclaimed the Irish actress. However, she went on to add that she wouldn't say "there's no chance" it could happen "but at the moment, it's not in the cards for me."
The initial report came from Daniel Richtman, who is usually right more than he's wrong. To be fair, he was the first to report that Emily Hampshire would be portraying E.D.I.T.H. in Vision, a report that was later confirmed by Deadline.

It's no secret that James Spader will reprise his role as Ultron in the upcoming Vision TV series. However, the circumstances surrounding the villain's return have been a mystery. Until now, perhaps.
In recent weeks, scooper Daniel Richtman has shared several Vision scoops (many of which were soon confirmed by the trades). Now, he's revealed how the WandaVision follow-up begins.
It's said that Vision travels to Madripoor in search of his memories and humanity, only to encounter Ultron in human form. The story unfolds from there, but what does this tell us about where this series is going? Based on this and other recent revelations, we can make some assumptions.
If Vision encounters a "human" Ultron, it's safe to say that he has found a way to survive the events of Avengers: Age of Ultron and has managed to create a new body for himself and the various other AIs created by Tony Stark.

When Star Trek: Picardpremiered in 2020, the seventh episode of the first season featured the return of William Riker (Jonathan Frakes) and Deanna Troi (Marina Sirtis). In the Season 1 episode titled “Nepenthe,” viewers find out that the couple’s son, Thaddeus “Thad,” had died of a rare disease called mendaxic neurosclerosis, thus leaving the Troi-Rikers, who were married in 2002’s Star Trek: Nemesis, as a family of three, with their daughter Kestra.
Flash forward a few years to Picard’s third season, which featured the entire The Next Generation crew reuniting for a mission against the Borg. At the beginning, when Admiral Picard (Patrick Stewart) recruits Riker to join him, viewers see that there’s a definite strain in the marriage between Captain Riker and Counselor Troi.
Jonathan Frakes recently touched on why Riker and his Imzadi, Deanna, were at odds throughout Season 3 of Picard. The couple, grieving for their son,...

Star Trek: Picard’sthird season saw Brent Spiner’s Data character (who has died twice over the course of the Trek franchise’s long run) become the most human-like, although still synthetic, version of himself. Season 3 of Picard reunited the Star Trek: The Next Generation cast for one final mission during which they (spoiler), save the galaxy yet again.
Spiner, per ScreenRant, appeared on The Sackhoff Show, during which host Katee Sackhoffasked the Data actor whether he would ever play the iconic android again. Spiner said that “it could still happen” and touched on Picard Season 3 showrunner Terry Matalas’ idea of a spinoff that would feature Jeri Ryan’s Captain Seven of Nine. Fans have been clamoring for Star Trek: Legacysince Season 3 of Picard ended in 2023, with online and in-person petitions.

Another key WandaVision character will reportedly appear in Vision Quest. According to trusted scooper Daniel Richtman, after a four-year absence, Tommy Maximoff is set to make his grand return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe in the upcoming Disney+ series.
Per ComicBookMovie, Richtman is reporting that actor Ruaridh Mollica, who was cast as the character Tucker back in February, will actually be playing Tommy Maximoff in Vision Quest (which is the working title for the Vision-centric series). "In Agatha All Along, Billy’s soul is shown to inhabit the body of William Kaplan, a teenager who tragically dies in a car accident shortly after his bar mitzvah. Similarly, Tommy’s soul will inhabit the body of Tucker, with his true origins as a Maximoff being revealed as the series unfolds," revealed the scooper. Even though fans of the Star Trek franchise have Star Trek: Starfleet Academy to look forward to, there is one potential continuation of the franchise that fans and cast members alike still yearn for. At one point, there was an idea, from the mind of Terry Matalas, who served as showrunner on Star Trek: Picard, to create a series set shortly after the events of Picard. It would follow Jeri Ryan as Seven of Nine as she captains the newest Enterprise through the final frontier. The concept would also include characters such as Raffi Musiker (Michelle Hurd) and Jack Crusher (Ed Speleers).
Even with the idea seemingly tabled for now, one star of Star Trek: The Next Generation, who appeared in the third and final season of Picard, offered a hopeful update. Brent Spiner, who played the android Data (among many other characters from Data's family) appeared as a...

Brent Spiner quotes Sean Connery in regard to portraying Data in Star Trek: The Next Generation and Star Trek: Picard. Spiner began portraying Lt. Commander Data on Star Trek: The Next Generation, and the lovable android became one of the show's most popular characters. Despite his heroic death in Star Trek: Nemesis, Data made a triumphant return in Star Trek: Picard season 3, reuniting with his former USS Enterprise-d crew members.
Complete with an upgraded android body with the ability to experience emotions, Data finally achieved his lifelong dream of becoming (almost) human. Still, it remains to be seen what his Star Trek future holds. In a recent appearance on The Sackhoff Show, Brent Spiner spoke to host Katee Sackhoff about portraying Data and why he decided to reprise the role in Picard season 3. Read Spiner's quotes and watch the video below:
Katee Sackhoff: You’ve played that character [Data] in like 10 different projects.

Back in February, the trades reported that Marvel Studios' planned Vision series added another new cast member, leading to speculation that the Marvel Cinematic Universe may have found its Tommy Maximoff, aka Speed.
You may recall which actor we're referring to, but it sounds like this is something Marvel will attempt to keep under wraps, so beware of spoilers from this point on.
According to Daniel Richtman, The Franchise and Too Rough actor Ruaridh Mollica's character, Tucker, will indeed turn out to be Tommy Maximoff.
Agatha All Along introduced Billy Maximoff's (Joe Locke), who set off to locate his brother alongside "Ghost Agatha" (Kathryn Hahn) in the season finale.

Schitt’s Creek star Emily Hampshire has been cast in Marvel’s upcoming Vision series. She is set to play a key role in the Disney+ show alongside Paul Bettany, who reprises his role from WandaVision.
Emily Hampshire is known for playing Stevie Budd in Schitt’s Creek, but she has also starred in Chapelwaithe and more recently Prime’s thriller The Rig.
According to Deadline, Hampshire is set to play E.D.I.T.H., Tony Stark’s augmented reality security and defense system. This system was created by Stark and given to Peter Parker after his death as it offered access to global satellites and an arsenal of drones and missiles.

At this point, it seems clear that Marvel Television's Vision starring Paul Bettany series is assembling a line-up of former AI defence systems in human form - but for what reason remains to be seen.

Jonathan Frakes breaks down the real-world rationale behind Captain Will Riker and Counselor Deanna Troi's (Marina Sirtis) rocky marriage in Star Trek: Picardseason 3. Vision may have met his match.
Marvel Studios’ spin-off series about Vision has landed “Schitt’s Creek” star Emily Hampshire as E.D.I.T.H., the Stark Industries artificial intelligence introduced in 2019’s “Spider-Man: Far From Home.” She joins Paul Bettany, who is reprising his role as the now-reincarnated synthezoid character.

Brent Spiner says "there is always hope" that Star Trek: Picard season 3's proposed continuation, Star Trek: Legacy, will happen. Spiner reprised his iconic character, Data, in Star Trek: Picard season 3, where his android hero evolved into a human-like synthetic who can age and comes complete with emotions. After being killed off in Star Trek: Nemesis in 2002, Spiner's full-fledged comeback as Data was one of the highlights of Picard season 3'sStar Trek: The Next Generation cast reunion.
Appearing as a guest on The Sackhoff Show, Brent Spiner was asked by host Katee Sackoff about whether there are any plans for him to play Data again. Spiner explained how Star Trek: Picard season 3 showrunner Terry Matalas tried to launch a spinoff centering on Jeri Ryan as Captain Seven of Nine, which was dubbed Star Trek: Legacy. Although Paramount+ didn't greenlight it, Brent thinks "it could still happen" at some point.

Vision Quest is the second spinoff series of WandaVision after Agatha All Along and it's going to be a tall task to try and match those critically-acclaimed standards, but the Marvel Television series is going to try. With a 2026 release, the new Disney Plus series will feature Emmy nominee Paul Bettany reprising his role as as Vision/White Vision and 3x Emmy winner James Spader will also reprise his Avengers: Age of Ultron role as Ultron.
Written and illustrated by John Byrne, the "Vision Quest" storyline in Marvel Comics took place in issues No. 42-45 of West Coast Avengers. This 1989 comic focused on the government dismantling of Vision because of concerns of his ability to control global computer systems. When Vision was rebuilt, he returned as White Vision, but he was stripped of emotions and his former personality. Additionally, Wanda (Scarlet Witch) was devastated by White Vision, and she was...

Last week, a fan claimed that he managed to sneak onto the set of Avengers: Doomsday, and was able to share some of the footage he filmed online before it was removed from the various social media sites.
The brief clips didn't feature anything particularly revealing, but did seem to confirm that we'll be paying a visit to Madripoor - the fictional Southeast Asian island commonly associated with Wolverine and the X-Men - at some point in the movie.
However, reports would later cast doubt on this anonymous set spy's claims, and we may now know why.
According to Daniel Richtman, Madrippor will feature in the Disney+ Vision series, and not Avengers: Doomsday. If this is accurate, it seems likely that this leaker actually made his way on to the set of the WandaVision spin-off.

After WandaVision, Paul Bettany will return for the upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe series Vision Quest. Among his co-stars is Star Trek: Picard actor Todd Stashwick.
When Stashwick's casting was first announced, it was reported that he'd be playing an "assassin who is on the trail of the android and the technology he possesses." A character name was not disclosed, leaving it unclear if he'd be playing an existing character from Marvel lore, or an original role created for the show. However, a new report by film industry insider Daniel Richtman claims that Stashwick will be playing the character Paladin. As Marvel Studios' Vision series - which may or may not turn out to be titled "Vision Quest" - continues to round out its cast, we have a very interesting update relating to Tony Stark's former AI assistant.
According to Daniel Richtman, Kerry Condon will appear as F.R.I.D.A.Y. in human form. This isn't the first time the Academy Award-nominated The Banshees of Inisherin star has been mentioned in connection with the Vision show, but we weren't sure if she'd actually appear in live-action or simply add her voice to the character.
Condon voiced Tony's second AI after J.A.R.V.I.S. (Paul Bettany) was transformed into Vision. We have also heard that James D'Arcy will return as Edwin Jarvis in some capacity.
How these characters will factor into the show remains to be seen.

Marvel Television's Vision/Vision Quest TV series will pick up where WandaVision left off, but the project, overseen by showrunner Terry Matalas, is shaping up to be unlike anything we expected.

Vision Quest, the upcoming Disney+ series based on Paul Bettany's MCU character Vision, has seemingly found its female lead in T'Nia Miller. The showwill be the third chapter in a story that began with WandaVision and continued with Agatha All Along. The series is overseen by Star Trek: Picard's Terry Matalas and sees the return of Bettany as Vision, alongside James Spader reprising his role as Ultron.
Deadline reports that T'Nia Miller, best known for her work on The Haunting of Bly Manor and The Fall of the House of Usher, has joined the cast of Marvel Television's upcoming Vision series. The trade outlet claims that she will play Jocasta, an AI created by Ultron, but Marvel has yet to confirm the character or Miller's involvement. Miller's Jocasta is described as cunning, powerful, and motivated by revenge, but it is not clear who she seeks revenge against.

The next WandaVision series, Vision, taps a new star for a major role in the upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe spinoff. The Multiverse Saga is launching Phase 6 this summer on the big-screen with The Fantastic Four: First Steps, and one of the next MCU TV shows is also on its way, as Paul Bettany's long-time character will finally be getting his own WandaVision spinoff. While plot details are still heavily under wraps, the Vision series will deal with the titular character after the events of WandaVision.
As the upcoming Vision TV show is in the works, Deadline has reported that T’Nia Miller has joined the MCU franchise as Marvel's Jocasta, who is described as "cunning and powerful," having originally been built by Ultron to be his bride before turning against him in the comics. British actor T’Nia Miller has been confirmed to play Jocasta in Marvel Television’s Disney+ series now simply titled “Vision,” an eight-episode follow-up to WandaVision that is filming at Pinewood Studios for a 2026 debut. The casting places Miller opposite Paul Bettany’s White Vision and the returning voice of James Spader as Ultron, while highlighting Marvel’s shift to a showrunner-led model under Star Trek: Picard alum Terry Matalas.
Marvel Studios has quietly filled a pivotal slot in its WandaVision sequel by hiring T’Nia Miller to portray Jocasta, the sophisticated AI traditionally built by Ultron as his “bride.” Deadline’s scoop, echoed by multiple trade sites, describes the live-action Jocasta as “cunning, powerful and driven by revenge,” signalling that the android may enter the story as an antagonist before her comic-book turn toward heroism.

We've been hearing rumors that Marvel Studios' WandaVision spin-off focusing on Paul Bettany's Synthezoid will introduce Jocasta to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and a reliable source is now claiming that the role has been filled.
According to Daniel Richtman, T’nia Miller will play the Bride of Ultron in the Disney+ series.
The scooper mentions that Jocasta will be a villain, but there's a chance she will ultimately end up joining the Avengers down the line. In the comics, Jocasta - later known as Jocasta Pym - was created to be Ultron's bride, and was given the brainwaves of Janet van Dyne. It remains to be seen if the character will be given a similar origin for her live-action debut.

The third season of Star Trek: Picard memorably brought back the majority of the cast of The Next Generation, a move that was celebrated by fans. Season 3 drew a near-perfect score of 97% on Rotten Tomatoes, which was firmly the highest of all three seasons.
There was a downside to bringing back the stars of The Next Generation, even if it resulted in very high acclaim. Per ScreenRant, Terry Matalas was doing an interview for The Sackhoff Show when addressed becoming sole showrunner for Season 3 after serving as co-showrunner alongside Akiva Goldsman for Season 2. He remembered having a vision to make Season 3 feel more like The Next Generation, and from there, all it took was getting Patrick Stewart on board. Unfortunately, the budget would not allow for Stewart's co-stars from the first two seasons to return, meaning that "sacrifices" had to be made.

Vision Quest will serve as a Disney+ sequel to WandaVision in 2026, and its showrunner revealed some key facts in a recent interview. WandaVision already got two MCU sequels with Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness and Agatha All Along, both of which picked up major storylines from Marvel Studios' first Disney+ series. That said, Paul Bettany's Vision has been absent since "The Series Finale" premiered in 2021, although he will finally get justice in 2026 with his own Disney+ sequel, Vision Quest.
The series is created by Star Trek: Picard's Terry Matalas and will star Bettany's White Vision after he was rebuilt by Sword as he attempts to regain his memories and humanity. Production on the 2026 Disney+ sequel is underway in the U.K., with Vision Quest also set to feature James Spader's Ultron and Faran Tahir's Raza (the Ten Rings leader from Iron Man). Other...

Vision Quest is among the most secretive Marvel Cinematic Universe projects in the making. Announced after WandaVision wrapped, the project is set to chronicle the adventures of White Vision, who was weaponized at the end of the series and goes off on his own. With the success of the spin-off, Agatha All Along, fans are even more excited about the Paul Bettany-led series. Series showrunner, Terry Matalas recently confirmed the shows’ timeline as well as discussed his vision for the upcoming Marvel show.
“The timeline is definitely navigated,” Matalas said carefully during his appearance on Katee Sackhoff’s The Sackhoff Show podcast. He called working on the show a “wonderful creative experience, and I think we are making something really special.” Fans have been very curious about White Vision since his first appearance, and things will pick up right where they left off in WandaVision.

For a long time, it seemed that Marvel’s Vision Quest series was never going to happen. Like many teased projects, the WandaVision sequel joined a long list of MCU projects that stacked up to a point where it seemed impossible for all of them to be followed up. However, Vision Quest will be one series that is not going to fall by the wayside, and Paul Bettany’s White Vision will return to continue his story following the climax of WandaVision. Creator and showrunner Terry Matalas recently shared an insight into the ambitious series, and how much of a collaborative effort the show is.
Appearing on The Sackhoff Show, Matalas told Sackhoff that while there was a specific point to the series, he was given a lot of freedom on how to tell the story. He said:
“There was a kind of logline that was very specific, Kinda like ‘It’s this,...

Vision Quest will finally reveal what became of White Vision in the aftermath of WandaVision. In that series, the Avenger was resurrected (minus his emotions) by S.W.O.R.D., and seemingly regained his memories after crossing paths with the Hex's Vision.
Given his current status quo, there's a ton of storytelling potential with the character. Plus, with Ultron, Jocasta, and Tommy Maximoff all expected to factor into the story, it stands a chance of being one of the most impactful MCU TV shows on Disney+ to date.
During a recent interview with Katee Sackhoff, Vision Quest showrunner Terry Matalas shared what he could about his approach to the WandaVision and Agatha All Along follow-up and how he expanded on what Marvel Studios was looking for from the series.
