Sunny Hostin is revealing how she “almost died” while filming The View.

During the Friday (June 20) episode of the talk show, Sunny shared how a panel, in which they were joined by Debbie Matenopoulos, nearly cost the 56-year-old talk show host her life.

According to Sunny, Debbie brought Greek food along for her panel during the show, which Sunny realized contained an allergen after she started to consume some.

“She has this wonderful food, Greek food. I have a terrible allergy to walnuts, and as I’m eating the food, Alyssa asks, ‘Are those walnuts in here?’ And she says yes. So I panic immediately,” Sunny recalled during the episode.

She said that she was looking toward the show’s executive producer for help after she realized there were allergens present in the food.

Hallmark will premiere a new unscripted series on the network. Connie Britton will serve as host of the first-ever transformational series. This is the first unscripted series on the network since Home & Family with television personality Debbie Matenopoulos and General Hospital’s Cameron Mathison was cancelled.

Deadline was first broke the news of Britton’s new show on Monday, March 31. She will host The Motherhood, which premieres on Monday, May 5 at 8 p.m. Et. The one-hour episodes will run through June 2. The first two episodes will air on Hallmark, while the rest will be available to stream on Hallmark+.

Woody Fraser, the prolific American producer and director best known for launching “The Mike Douglas Show” and “Good Morning America,” has died. He was 90.

Variety confirmed that Fraser died Saturday afternoon, via his daughter Stacy. More details will become available in the coming days.

The View Gets A New Look

The View Season 28 is kicking off on September 3 at 11 a.m. Est. Whoopi Goldberg, Joy Behar, Sara Haines, Alyssa Farah Griffin, and Ana Navarro will all be returning to the talk show this season.

The teaser trailer promised more “Hot Topics” and a fresh new look for the show. Earlier this month, it was announced that The View moved studios. The lovely ladies left their previous location, where the show has been broadcast for the last 10 years.

Daytime vet Lindsay Hartley was back as Sam McCall last week, subbing for Kelly Monaco. “Grateful to be stepping in again,” shared the actress on Instagram. Hartley made her initial appearance as Sam in 2020. Word is she’s back for a quick stint.

After a long absence, Parry Shen is back as Brad Cooper. The hospital’s ousted lab manager made a pitch for a new job as a lab technician. He last aired in March 2023.

That was Debbie Matenopoulos, former co-host of The View and Home & Family, playing a Home & Heart producer. She interacted with the Deception team.

First revealed during the main cast event at fan club weekend earlier this month, fans of “General Hospital” can now purchase several products as seen on the show through a collaboration between the network and Knocking, Inc., a content and commerce company that helps brands reach millions of consumers.

It seems like every now and then, some rumors hit the internet claiming that ABC's long-running talk show The View is getting the axe.

And we're not kidding when we say it's long-running. Who else remembers when it premiered in 1997 and had Debbie Matenopoulos, who SNL used to viciously lampoon? (Poor Debbie — she seemed nice!)

Clearing the air. Rosie O’Donnell is opening up about the real reason she wasn’t in attendance at “The View”‘s emotional tribute to Barbara Walters on Tuesday.

While O’Donnell’s reps previously told some outlets that her absence was due to a scheduling conflict, O’Donnell took to Instagram to explain that there was also a more personal reason she wasn’t able to be there.

“They invited me but I wasn’t able to make it,” O’Donnell said in a video she shared Tuesday evening. “And I didn’t want to be in a big group of people.”

“I don’t know, I was worried I would get upset and I didn’t want to do that. So, there you go,” she added.

A parade of View veterans — including current and onetime Og table mates Joy Behar, Meredith Vieira, Star Jones and Debbie Matenopoulos — paid their respects to the series’ late creator, Barbara Walters, during Tuesday’s special episode. Conspicuously missing from the hour-long tribute: former co-cost Rosie O’Donnell.

According to O’Donnell’s spokesperson, the actress-comedian was invited to take part in Tuesday’s retrospective. However, “She is on a plane and couldn’t change her schedule,” the rep explained. A View spokesperson confirms that an invitation was indeed extended to O’Donnell.

Barbara Walters, the legendary Emmy-award winning broadcast journalism pioneer and co-creator of “The View”, has died. She was 93 years old.

ABC News confirmed the news on Friday. No cause of death was given. Disney CEO Bob Iger tweeted that Walters died on Friday evening at her home in New York.

One of Hallmark Channel‘s go-to actresses has set her sights on a new basic cable home.

Danica McKellar, who has headlined more than a half-dozen “Countdown to Christmas” movies for Hallmark since 2015, is departing the network for a new competitor: Gac Family (fka Great American Country). Per Deadline, the Wonder Years vet has signed an exclusive deal with the cabler to star in and executive-produce four new films, beginning with The Winter Palace (premiering in January 2022).

Exclusive: Lori Loughlin is returning to acting. The former When Calls the Heart star will reprise her popular character from the Hallmark Channel series, Abigail Stanton, on spinoff When Hope Calls, which is coming back for a second season on a new network, Gac Family. Loughlin will appear in the two-part Season 2 premiere titled When Hope Calls: A Country Christmas, slated to air on Saturday, Dec. 18.

Loughlin was last seen on TV as Abigail in Season 6 of Hallmark Channel’s hit series When Calls the Heart before she was let go over her involvement in the college admissions scandal. The actress, who is on probation after serving a two-month sentence, sparked speculation that she may be returning to work last week following a Mercury News report that she had been given permission by a Boston federal judge to travel to Canada for about a week in late September-early October for “a filming production project.

Star Jones is returning to “The View” and she isn’t the only one.

When the ABC daytime talk show returns for its 25th season next week, the show will introduce a series of weekly “Flashback Friday” episodes welcoming back former co-hosts, with Jones returning to the roundtable as a guest co-host on Friday, Sept. 10.

Jones was among the original cast of “The View,” co-hosting alongside Meredith Vieira, Debbie Matenopoulos, Joy Behar and moderator Barbara Walters during the show’s first season in 1997. She stayed with the program through Season 9, departing in 2006.

ABC has not yet announced which other past hosts will return to the show, but the list of past “View” hosts also includes Lisa Ling, Rosie O’Donnell, Rosie Perez, Raven-Symone, Michelle Collins and Candace Cameron Bure, among others. Whoopi Goldberg, Joy Behar, Sunny Hostin and Sarah Haines serve as permanent co-hosts on the show for Season 25, with Ana Navarro recurring.

Meghan McCain has officially forfeit her seat at the Hot Topics table.

The View‘s Season 24 finale doubled as McCain’s swan song, following the conservative commentator’s previous announcement that she would not return for the daytime talk show’s landmark 25th season, premiering in September.

The chair being vacated on The View at the end of the month has an intriguing new name being thrown into the mix – former co-host Debbie Matenopoulos.

She was an original cast member on the show, joining it in 1997 at age 21, when she was fresh out of college. She was joined by Barbara Walters, Meredith Vieira, Star Jones and Joy Behar.

As Meghan McCain takes her leave from The View at the end of the month, rumors have swirled as to who might be a candidate to fill the seat. The Daily Mail reported today that Mantenopoulos reps have been in talks with ABC News about a potential return, though no source for the information was named.

An ABC source told DailyMail.com, “Next year is our 25th season, and we’re considering Debbie Matenopoulos making a triumphant return to The View.”

A spokesperson for Matenopoulos confirmed the negotiations.

Responding to a Daily Mail piece in which a source claimed that Debbie Matenopoulos is being courted for a “triumphant return” to the ABC Daytime talker, a rep for the TV personality confirmed that “conversations” have taken place with ABC News brass about, among other things, a View encore.

“Home & Family” host Cameron Mathison has joined the cast of ABC’s “General Hospital.”

The role will mark Mathison’s return to the world of soap operas after his long tenure as Ryan Lavery on “All My Children” from 1997 to 2011. Details about his character are being kept under wraps.

Mathison has spent the last three years co-hosting “Home & Family” for Hallmark Channel, also appearing in a number of the channel’s made-for-tv films, including 2019’s “The Christmas Club” and “Love, Of Course” the year prior.

Hallmark Channel’s daytime “Home & Family” will end with its current season, which is its ninth. The series finale is set for Wednesday, August 4.

Exclusive: Emmy-nominated actor and Home and Family co-host Cameron Mathison is returning to the world of daytime soaps, joining the cast of ABC’s long-running daytime drama series General Hospital.

No details on Mathison’s role for now, but it will mark his return to daytime TV following word that Home and Family will end in August after its current ninth season.

Mathison is known for his previous role as Ryan Lavery in the daytime series All My Children, for which he earned Daytime Emmy nominations for Outstanding Supporting Actor in 2002 and 2004. He was named co-host of Hallmark Channel’s Home & Family, with Debbie Matenopoulos, in season 7 in 2018. He also previously served as feature correspondent for Good Morning America, Entertainment Tonight and Extra, and he co-hosted the 35th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards.

“The 9th and current season of Home & Family will be the series’ last,” a spokesperson for Hallmark Channel told Deadline in a statement.

Hosted by Debbie Matenopoulos and Cameron Mathison, Home & Family focuses on home improvements, crafts, parenting tips, lifestyle and health and fitness. It is filmed in the Universal City area of Los Angeles.

Home & Family is headed back into production. After its most recent production shutdown in December, the series will start filming new episodes on Monday, March 29th. Those new episodes will land on Hallmark Channel on April 5th.
