(July 3, 1947) Frank Maxwell began a 12-week summer replacement radio series on NBC as Uthas P. Garvey, secretary to the consummate con artist, Colonel Humphrey J. Flack, played by Wendell Holmes. The colonel, assisted by Garvey, retrieved funds swindled from victims by subterfuge and returned the funds to the duped.
