Close friend of "James Bond" co-star, Roger Moore. In 1944, they were in the same class at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA).

Along with Albert R. Broccoli, she was one of only two people to work on all 14 "Bond" films from Dr. No (1962) to A View to a Kill (1985).

As well as appearing beside Roger Moore as Miss Moneypenny, Maxwell made two appearances in The Saint (1962).

In spite of appearing in fourteen of the James Bond films, her total combined screen time is roughly only seventeen minutes.

She is second only to Desmond Llewelyn for the number of appearances in "James Bond" movies. She appeared in 14 while he appeared in 17.

In 1949, when she was getting started in Hollywood, Maxwell was among eight starlets who were asked to pose for a picture in Life magazine. In addition to Maxwell, there was another starlet who would go on to bigger things, Marilyn Monroe.

Wrote a regular column for The Toronto Sun from 1979-1994 under the name of Moneypenny.

Met TV executive Peter Marriott at an airport in Paris. They were married in 1957. When he suffered a massive coronary and was too ill to work, Lois had to be the main breadwinner. Peter died in 1973 at age 51.

In addition to her appearances in the James Bond movies and the Saint, she also appeared in the final episode of the Persuaders with Roger Moore.

Since 2001, has lived in Fremantle, Western Australia after a health scare whilst visiting her son. (February 2005)

Moved to the UK, at the age of 15.

She won a Golden Globe for 'That Hagen Girl'.

She chose not to continue her "Miss Moneypenny" role into the Timothy Dalton Bond-era. One of the reasons being that she felt Dalton was too young for her and didn't want anyone to think Moneypenny is Bond's 'mother-figure'.

She made thirteen films with Bernard Lee: Dr. No (1962), From Russia with Love (1963), Goldfinger (1964), Thunderball (1965), Operation Kid Brother (1967), You Only Live Twice (1967), On Her Majesty's Secret Service (1969), Diamonds Are Forever (1971), Live and Let Die (1973), The Man with the Golden Gun (1974), Bons baisers de Hong-Kong (1975), The Spy Who Loved Me (1977) and Moonraker (1979).

While at grammar school in Toronto she had a regular role on a C.B.C. series.
