In the beginning there was Winnie The Pooh: Blood & Honey. Then, there was Winnie the Pooh_: Blood & Honey 2_. And now, as Rhys Frake-Waterfield — the Kevin Feige of effed-up fairytale films — envisioned back in early 2023, the Twisted Childhood Universe of public domain based horrors is set to expand with Peter Pan's Neverland Nightmare. Written and directed by Scott Jeffrey (not to be confused with Muppet Babies helmsman Jeffrey Scott), the Tcu's latest childhood crusher is set to see Martin Portlock bring to our screens a slightly more murderous version of the boy who never grew up than Disney's take on the J.M. Barrie fairytale. Check out the bloody first trailer below;
Welp — we don't know about his shadow, but it sure does look like our pal Peter has found his dark side here! Whilst theorists have long contested a dark truth at the heart of Barrie's book (that...

On Friday nights, IndieWire After Dark takes a feature-length beat to honor fringe cinema in the streaming age.
First, the spoiler-free pitch for one editor’s midnight movie pick — something weird and wonderful from any age of film that deserves our memorializing.
Then, the spoiler-filled aftermath as experienced by the unwitting editor attacked by this week’s recommendation.
The Pitch: Merry Chompmas to All, and to All a Good Chomp
In the beginning, Namco created “Pac-Man,” a cute exercise in 8-bit graphics that features an incomplete yellow circle navigating a dot-filled maze while avoiding colorful ghosts. An instant hit, the game’s only obvious flaw was the lack of information offered about the yellow circle’s genitalia. It wasn’t long before the company rectified that problem in 1982 with the release of “Ms. Pac-Man,” a nearly identical game whose circular protagonist wore a bow to identify herself as female, drawing...

Muppet Babies, a reboot of the 1984 animated series of the same name, premiered in 2018 with a slight twist: the pattern of the nanny’s socks change every episode. That variation spawned a copyright infringement lawsuit against Disney from Jeffrey Scott, a screenwriter of the original series, that was dismissed due to unusual circumstances surrounding his personal bankruptcy.
After some legal maneuvering by Scott in bankruptcy court to revive his case, a federal judge on Monday rebuffed Disney’s bid to dismiss the lawsuit. U.S. District Judge Stanley Blumenfeld found that Disney may have copied elements of the show from the original Muppet Babies production bible that Scott created in the 1980s. The order keeps in line with recent mandates from a federal appeals court not to prematurely dismiss copyright cases at the pleading stage.
Scott in 2020 sued Disney, but the case didn’t get far.

It would seem I have a love/hate relationship with the work of director Jeffrey Lando. On the one hand he has helmed fantastic direct to DVD movies such as Insecticidal (yes I really rather enjoyed that – even if Lando himself has a little disdain for it on his official blog), but on the other he was the director on House of Bones, a film whose ending, at the time, frustrated me to no end. But that was five years ago and since then we’d had a slew of TV movies from Lando, including the superb Syfy channel horror movie Goblin: an underrated gem that didn’t really achieve the same dizzy heights of success as those “other” Syfy monster movies!

Mumbai, May 17: Popular Indian superhero series "Shaktimaan" has been animated and it comes every weekday on Nick channel.
The first season of the series is a co-production between Reliance Animation and Accel Animation Studio while the second season is between Reliance Animation and Magic N Colors.
Six times iEMMY award winning writer Jeffrey Scott has penned down the scripts for "Shaktimaan" in animation.
"It took us almost a-year-and-half in the pre-production. The greatest challenge was to decide how one should plot such an immensely popular content into animation.

In addition to the long line of competing tent pole films (from “Dante’s Peak” vs. “Volcano” up to “Mirror, Mirror” vs. “Snow White and the Huntsman”), there has in recent years been a growing number of biopics going head-to-head. First there was “Capote” vs. “Infamous,” as well as the upcoming “Lovelace” vs. “Inferno,” and next a pair of Jeff Buckley films: Daniel Algrant's “Greetings From Tim Buckley” starring Penn Badgley will go head-to-head with a still untitled Jeff Scott movie starring Reeves Carney (Broadway’s “Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark”). It’s unclear why so many dual projects go forward in this way, but it’s likely that this is the only way producers can get excited: hunting a directly competing film is their version of “The Most Dangerous Game.” Patricia Arquette, who decided to give up any sort...

Happy 20th Birthday to out UK singer Joe McElderry! Joe is currently starring on Popstar to Operastar, but below you can see his triumphant win on X Factor 2009. So adorable.
Broadway hotties John Gallagher Jr. and Thomas Sadoski, and The Social Network's Josh Pence have been added to the cast of Aaron Sorkin's HBO pilot More As This Story Develops. Ryan Reynolds has penned a profile of himself for Entertainment Weekly, and it's as self-aware and snarky as you'd expect. My favorite bit: "Eventually Lady Luck gave him a wink and he broke into the business by scoring a lead role in a sitcom titled Two Guys, A Girl And A Pizza Place. Although the series was canceled 10 years ago, Reynolds still holds out hope they’ll change the title to something less stupid.

"Dogtooth" (2009)

"Enter the Void" (2010)

Somehow it's fitting that two of last year's most dangerous films will be hitting DVD shelves the same week, both being favorites of the IFC.com staff. "Dogtooth," Lanthimos' much-debated Un Certain Regard winner from Cannes, concerns the lives of three culturally isolated children -- two daughters and a son, who range from mid-teens to early 20s -- fenced in by their parents' country home, who receive a reeducation when their lone connection to the outside world, a female security guard for their parents' business, introduces them to the joys of sex and Sylvester Stallone films. Meanwhile, "Irreversible" provocateur Noé's latest is a wildly ambitious 155-minute extravaganza set inside the mind of a drug dealer told from the first-person perspective. The Plastic Man Comedy Adventure Show (Warner Home Video, $44.98) preserves all 35 exploits of America’s most pliable superhero from his 1979-80 Saturday morning series. Long before Mr. Fantastic, Elastigirl (a.k.a. Mrs. Incredible) and Elastic Man, there was Plastic Man, a hero my Dad read and liked in the 1940s. Jack Cole (another of comicdom’s troubled geniuses) created the fun-loving character for Quality Comics in 1941, both writing and inventively illustrating the stories. Since Plas (as he was nicknamed) was, shall we say, flexible, Cole broke comic book conventions with his innovative layouts. See Forms Stressed To Their Limits: Jack Cole & Plastic Man, the excellent (and beautifully designed) book by Art Spiegelman & Chip Kidd for more on Cole’s talents and troubles. Anyhow, Quality’s major heroes (notably Blackhawk and Plas) got sold to DC comics in the late 1950s. Every so often in the intervening half-century, Plastic Man...
