Why Mike Tyson Quit Boxing After His Fight Against Kevin McBride: The Real Reason Revealed!
Image
Why Mike Tyson Quit Boxing Against Kevin McBride (Photo Credit – Instagram)

Alright, let’s hit this with some real punch! Mike Tyson’s retirement moment against Kevin McBride in 2005 wasn’t exactly what you’d call a “glorious exit.” Tyson wasn’t knocked out cold, and there was no dramatic knockout punch. It was more like he just gave up.

Now, McBride, a total underdog and not on anyone’s radar, had a plan: survive the first few rounds and then survive some more. Tyson came out swinging, like the legend he once was, but it was clear by Round 5 that the old “Iron Mike” wasn’t quite iron anymore. At 271 pounds, McBride kept leaning on Tyson (sometimes literally) and pushed him around the ring. Tyson’s big punches were slower, and his once-fearsome speed? Gone.

By Round 6, Tyson was visibly drained, a shadow of his former self. And that’s when it happened: McBride,...

Mike Tyson Should Never Box Again, Says Dave Allen As He Can Easily Beat Him?
Image
Dave Allen believes Mike Tyson shouldn’t box anymore ( Photo Credit – Instagram )

The drama started after Tyson posted some intense pad work videos, sparking speculation about a potential comeback. Fans were excited, but Allen? Not so much. He thinks it’s all a bit of a pipe dream. He called it as he saw it: “For that reason alone, he should never box again.”

Now, let’s not forget Tyson’s heyday. He was a bona fide wrecking ball. But Allen’s got a different take now. Sure, Tyson reigned supreme, but that was a lifetime ago. Having taken some savage losses—Lennox Lewis, Danny Williams, and Kevin McBride—Tyson’s career isn’t exactly the stuff of legends anymore.

Allen doesn’t mince words. “Mike Tyson’s one of the greatest fighters of all time,” he asserted, “but you can’t turn back the clock.” True, though—Tyson’s glory days are gone now.

Mike Tyson Loses to Jake Paul but Netflix Users Were the Real Losers
Image
Netflix may have more paying subscribers than any other streaming platform out there, but even their servers didn't seem immune to the mass consumer interest in the Jake Paul and Mike Tyson fight being broadcast tonight, Nov. 15, 2024. Mike Tyson may have sadly lost the widely watched fight (though he sustained eight rounds despite being more than 30 years older than Paul), but it was Netflix subscribers who seemed like the real losers due to reported problems with Netflix glitching, having lengthy loading times, or freezing entirely. This was even before Tyson and Paul stepped into the ring together, which was set to happen at 11pm Et but didn't start until 12am Et; prior to that, Netflix aired other fights. For some people, they couldn't even find the event on their home page, as this new Reddit thread shows:

Why is Mike Tyson vs Jake Paul not on the Netflix home page?...

Jake Paul vs. Mike Tyson Fight Rules, Regulations & Number Of Rounds Explained
Image
Netflix's first live sporting event, the Jake Paul vs. Mike Tyson boxing match, has some unique rules and regulations that might require explanation. The Paul vs. Tyson fight is a major match for both boxers. Jake Paul went from YouTuber to pro boxer, so his fight with Tyson should make him a notable name in the sport. Meanwhile, Mike Tyson came out of retirement to fight Paul, and it will be his first professional boxing match since he retired in 2005. Tyson did have an exhibition match in 2020 against Roy Jones Jr., but his fight with Jake Paul is considered professional.

Tyson's fight against Paul will not only be his first professional boxing match in nearly 20 years, it will also give him a chance to end his career on a higher note than he previously did. Tyson's last professional fight against heavyweight Kevin McBride ended in a resounding defeat. It was considered a huge upset,...

How Much Is Mike Tyson Getting Paid for His Boxing Return? Fight Purses Revealed
Image
Mike Tyson, one of the most iconic stars of the professional boxing world, is all set to finally return to the ring. This return comes after nearly two decades of absence. He joined the profession in 1985 and competed for around twenty years until 2005 before quitting before the start of the seventh round in a close bout against journeyman Kevin McBride and announcing his retirement.

Throughout the time that he spent in the ring, Tyson never once failed to deliver as he reigned supreme as the undisputed world heavyweight champion for 3 years, from 1987 to 1990, becoming one of the greatest heavyweight champions of all time. That’s not all; he even holds the record of being the youngest boxer ever to win a heavyweight title, having won that at 20 only.

Image
If there’s one name that shakes things up in the boxing world and echoes through the ages, it’s Mike Tyson. How Jake Paul Went From A YouTuber To A Professional Boxer
Image
Netflix's second installment of Countdown: Paul vs Tyson, which prefaces Mike Tyson and Jake Paul's much-anticipated boxing match on November 15, peers into both boxer's camps as they prepare to fight. The contest has caught the public's imagination, pitching a 58-year-old legend of the sport against a 27-year-old YouTuber who has crossed over into the boxing arena having conquered social media. Boxing Hall-of-Famer and erstwhile actor Tyson is an ex-heavyweight champion of the world, with a legitimate claim to have been the sport's most visible and controversial figure of the last 30 years.

Jake Paul is no less controversial, even if his boxing credentials are questionable. The bout's central theme is whether Tyson can turn back the clock and recover some of his old vim and verve, or will his advanced years catch up with him. In some ways, the fight represents uncharted territory: boxers' careers are usually over by...

Why Mike Tyson Came Out Of Retirement To Fight Jake Paul

This article makes reference to sexual assault.

Netflix's second installment of Countdown: Paul vs Tyson, which prefaces the pair's much-anticipated boxing match on November 15, peers into both boxer's camps as they prepare to fight. The contest has caught the public's imagination, pitching Tyson against Paul, a 58-year-old legend of the sport, versus a 27-year-old YouTuber who has crossed over into the boxing arena after conquering social media. Boxing Hall-of-Famer and subsequent actor Tyson is an ex-heavyweight champion of the world, with a legitimate claim to have been the sport's most visible and controversial figure of the last 30 years.

Many boxing experts also consider him to have been one of the sport's best. Tyson had a 20-year professional career between 1985 and 2005, notching 19 knockout wins in his first 19 professional fights, before becoming the sport's youngest-ever world heavyweight champion at 21 when he defeated Trevor Berbick in Las Vegas in 1986. Netflixs Mike Tyson Vs. Jake Paul Fight Controversies Explained
Image
Netflix's preview series, Countdown: Paul Vs Tyson, has aired, prefacing its November 15 live coverage of Jake Paul's boxing match with Mike Tyson. It's a contest that has divided opinion not only in boxing circles but also in the public forum. Iron Mike, once the self-styled "baddest man in boxing," is now 58, while Paul, the world-famous YouTuber and latter-day boxer, is 27. The two men clash at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, after the fight's original date of July 20 was called off when Tyson suffered a health scare and needed medical attention on a flight from Miami to Los Angeles.

In the ethereal world of social media, it's a fight that means something. Jake Paul, who calls himself The Problem Child, has forged a ten-year career out of being obnoxious on various platforms, but mostly Vine, YouTube, and TikTok. At 17, he was preaching to more than 10 million subscribers...

Netflix Counts Down To Mike Tyson & Jake Paul Fight With Docuseries
Image
When Netflix revealed it was moving into live boxing earlier this year with a fight between Mike Tyson and Jake Paul, it didn’t realize it was going to take so long.

The fight was originally scheduled to take place on July 20 but was postponed until November as a result of an ulcer issue from former heavyweight champion Tyson.

The move, however, means more time to follow the pair for a docuseries leading up to the event.

The streamer has unveiled it will air Countdown: Paul Vs. Tyson, a three-part follow-doc on November 7, ahead of the fight airing live on Friday November 15 at 8pm Et. The first two episodes will air that night followed by the third episode on November 12.

The documentary series will take viewers behind-the-scenes of Paul and Tyson’s respective training camps ahead of the event. It will also follow the lead-up to one of the most...

Netflix’s move into live sports continues. The streamer is weighing in to the boxing arena with a fight between heavyweight legend Mike Tyson and upstart Jake Paul.

The streamer will air the fight, which takes place at the Dallas Cowboys’ AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, on Saturday July 20.

It is the company’s latest foray into the live sports field, which launched with golf tournament The Netflix Cup and continued with tennis tournament The Netflix Slam, featuring a match between Rafael Nadal and Carlos Alcaraz, earlier this month.

Logan Paul Says He Could Beat Mike Tyson in a Fight
Image
Logan Paul doesn't feel Mike Tyson would pose any threat to him in a boxing match if the two were to ever meet in the ring. Earlier this month, Paul competed in an exhibition match against undefeated boxing legend Floyd Mayweather Jr. While there have been some allegations made over the authenticity of the fight, many viewers were impressed with Paul for managing to last all eight rounds with Mayweather. It had previously been widely speculated that Paul would be knocked out pretty early into the fight.

It's looking like going the distance with Mayweather has given Paul another jolt of confidence, as he's since taken aim at another major boxing star from the past. On his Impaulsive podcast, Logan spoke with his brother Jake Paul about wanting more fights after the Mayweather exhibition. That's when Logan, whose record as a pro boxer is still technically 0-1, dismissed a potential fight with Mike Tyson,...

Mike Tyson Attacked by Angry Fan Immediately After Roy Jones Jr. Fight
Image
Mike Tyson's return fight against Roy Jones Jr. over the weekend may have ended in a draw, but "Iron" Mike still came very close to knocking someone out that night during an altercation after the bout. TMZ Sports reports that Tyson was leaving the Staples Center after the show when he was approached by a small group of fans asking for autographs. When Tyson obliged by walking over to interact with the group, an unidentified man in the crowd took the opportunity to confront him.

According to sources familiar with the situation, the man yelled at Mike Tyson, asking the boxer why he wouldn't fight him. Sort of joking but probably not really, Tyson responded that a fight with the guy "wouldn't end well" for him. Unwilling to accept a no, the man reportedly swung at Mike before reaching into his waistband, appearing as if he was preparing to pull out a weapon.

Mike Tyson Gets Chance to Avenge His Loss Against Final Opponent Kevin McBride
Image
Mike Tyson may already have another fight ready to go after his upcoming bout against Roy Jones Jr., as previous opponent Kevin McBride wants a rematch with the world-famous boxer. Back in 2005, it was McBride who stepped into the ring with Tyson for Iron Mike's final boxing match. The fight saw Tyson coming up short against the younger boxer, telling the official that he couldn't continue after McBride had knocked him down in the sixth round. Tyson retired soon after, taking a shot at McBride in the process by stating, "I'm not going to disrespect the sport anymore by losing to this caliber of fighter."

It's been fifteen years since that debacle, but McBride doesn't seem to have forgotten about the bad blood with Tyson. Noticing that Tyson will be coming out of retirement for a sanctioned fight with Jones, McBride tells TMZ that he wants another shot at Iron Mike next.
