Ever since the legacy TV series "Jag" quietly launched the "NCIS" universe, viewers have been graced with more military police procedural action than they could ever have hoped for. "NCIS" premiered in 2003, and after over two decades and numerous spin-offs, the show has successfully wrapped up its season 22. This, of course, begs the question: Will the train keep rolling? Can the audience expect a new season full of the Major Case Response Team's toughest investigations? 

In a nutshell, the answer is yes. A new season of the CBS show will eventually bring us back to the Washington Navy Yard, because "NCIS" season 23 is most definitely coming. As for precisely when this will happen, what story arcs the upcoming season will focus on, and which familiar faces we can expect to return on both sides of the camera ... well, those are the questions that matter. NCISstar Gary Cole promises "revenge" to come in the hit series' twenty-third season.

Speaking to TVLine, Cole was asked about how his character, NCIS Supervisory Special Agent Alden Parker, can be expected to react to the murder of his father Roman when the series returns for Season 23. "He's pissed. He's really pissed," Cole responded. "I’m not sure how that’s going to play out, but I know it’s going to have something to do with revenge — whether accurate [by targeting crime boss Carla Marino] or misplaced…. [But] it can’t not have any consequences to him mentally."

Cole went on to discuss the scene in which Parker discovers his father, portrayed by Francis X. McCarthy, shot to death, seemingly by Parker's arch-nemesis and Kansas City mob boss Carla Marino. Cole described being "intimated" by the scene, explaining that "normally you have a scene where just one thing happens... in the same moment, he comes to a full realization.

[Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for NCIS Season 22 Episode 15 “Moonlit.”] NCIS finally gives Parker (Gary Cole) answers about the little girl he’s been seeing since the Season 21 finale, and it involves a heartbreaking revelation about his mother’s death. Parker has Palmer (Brian Dietzen) do a sketch of Lily. He describes her expression as “bright, innocent, full of hope,” as well as “like an old soul.” Palmer, at first, thinks it’s case-related, but Parker says she’s “just an old friend.” His sketch is great. “You nailed it,” Parker says as he sees her standing behind the Me. Parker then has a video call with his father, Roman (Francis Xavier McCarthy), who’s on a trip in Vegas with his seniors group. This season of NCIS hasn’t been bad, it’s just been… quite a bit stagnant.

Alden Parker's Lily mystery in NCIS seems to be more complicated than first thought. The NCIS season 21 finale introduced Lily, a mysterious hallucination of a young girl that Parker first sees while in distress from an injury. While losing blood, Parker imagines Lily running around while onboard a ship and even calls out to her. However, when Knight asks him about Lily afterward, Parker says he does not remember.

NCIS season 22 has continued the question of Lily, but it has also pushed the theory that the mystery is bigger than it seems, as no one has had any answers yet. As Parker and the other NCIS characters come to terms with his changing mental state, the mystery behind Lily's identity continues to unravel. Fortunately, a recent interview with NCIS showrunner, Steven D. Binder, gave some insight into the new character, and the reveal is stranger than expected.

Lily Is Not...

NCIS showrunner Steven D. Binder teases a surprising resolution to Alden Parker’s hallucinations of Lily. The CBS procedural continues following the Major Case Response Team, now led by Parker (Gary Cole), who took over when Leroy Jethro Gibbs (Mark Harmon) chose to depart the Naval organization. The young character known as Lily first appeared in the NCIS season 21 finale, “Reef Madness,” where she was imagined by a gravely wounded Parker. Lily has since reemerged in NCIS season 22, but her identity and connection to Agent Parker largely remain a secret.

During a recent interview with TV Insider, Binder teased that the NCIS reveal surrounding Lily will be surprising. He explains when audiences finally learn about her background, any ongoing theories, including that she and Parker are siblings, may be disproved. It's no surprise that the decade that gave us Gordon Gekko and his infamous quote, "Greed is good," would be rife with films unpacking heavy social topics like police brutality, social inequality, ultra-violence, and in the case of Graham Baker's Alien Nation, racial tension, tolerance, and acceptance. The title is a reference to a line from one of (or many of) Rbg's speeches, in which she explained: "the U.S. Constitution is nearly 220 years old and contains no express provision opposing discrimination on the basis of gender." This film is a compliment to the documentary about her, titled simply Rbg now playing in theaters. And it will premiere later this year in line with Justice Ginsburg’s 25th anniversary on the Supreme Court. 'Interstellar' movie review: 'Ravishing, but overextended mind-bender' (photo: Anne Hathaway in 'Interstellar') There are many intriguing questions raised in director Christopher Nolan's ravishing, overextended mind-bender Interstellar. One of the first: has a theoretical physicist ever received an executive producer credit on a nine-figure, studio movie? Probably not, but if 74-year old Caltech professor Kip Thorne were to find any director willing to tap his intellect for an above-the-line credit, it would be Nolan. His movies are puzzle boxes of plot and theme that have become grander in scope as they've become more opaque in effect. At this point, every Nolan film contains the moment when we ask ourselves if the director himself has completely thought everything through. The story, Gimme Shelter centers on Agnes “Apple” Bailey played by Vanessa Hudgens. The film is based on the true-life story of a sixteen year old living with her drug addict/prostitute mother June Bailey (Rosario Dawson). Apple grows up never knowing her father, moving from foster home to foster home, in and out of the system, dependent upon a mother that cannot keep it together. She holds onto her one and only letter from her rich, Wall Street father Tom Fitzpatrick (Brendan Fraser). Where he refers to his daughter as the apple of his eye, hence she chooses to be called Apple.

Gimme Shelter begins with the audience hearing Apple talking to herself, stating that she is not afraid, she is not scared. She is mustering up the courage to leave her deadbeat mother and is determined to find a better life. She starts this out with an incredible hacking off of her hair.

I came across this superb Polish poster for The Great Escape recently. Though it is by one of my favorite poster artists, the great Wiktor Górka (1922-2004), I had not crossed paths with it before. An eccentric, stylized and yet perfectly apposite distillation of John Sturges’ 1963 WWII prison-camp adventure, this 1967 poster is a stunning piece of graphic design which renders the film, in just two colors, to its essentials: a plane, fleeing figures, stripes to denote the military, and two black circles for Steve McQueen’s motorbike, all surrounding the multi-font, playbill-styled panel for the film’s all-star cast. Górka’s best work is often in this vein: simple, witty and indelible: an ass’s head on a human body for Donkey Skin, a swastika made out of stockinged legs for Cabaret (perhaps his most famous design), and one rather adorable white whale for Moby Dick.

Maureen O'Hara, one of Ireland's greatest actresses, is to unveil plans for a new film school in Cork it has been announced. The “Quiet Man” star who recently celebrated her 90th birthday is set to outline plans for a film hub in the Cork village of Glengarriff next month. Cork County Council have donated a 1.5 acre site for new project. The Hollywood legend will unveil a billboard on the site in the coming weeks outlining the details of the 15,000 square foot building. Speaking about the project, Frank McCarthy, a local accountant and chief executive of the foundation said. "Our vision is to create this centre, which will be the only film school of its type in Ireland. It will be known as Maureen O'Hara International Film Academy and will house a 120 - seat auditorium. We hope to attract international students to the centre as well as providing workshops given by leading Hollywood actors.

Plenty of people would be keen on stalking Amber Heard, however the young bombshell is turning the tables on them in the thriller "The Applicant".

Screen Daily reports that Heard will play an underage prep school senior obsessed about getting into Yale University. This girl will stop at nothing to get her way, including seducing and ruining the life of an admissions director with connections to a top Yale professor.

Eric Bross will direct from a script by Jeff Rothberg and Francis X. McCarthy. Shooting kicks off early next year.

The Imaginarium of Dr. Parnassus has a new UK poster. Surprisingly, considering the bevy of stars that the film features (most notably the ones filling in for the late Heath Ledger), it is the movie's female lead Lily Cole who takes front an center, nude but for a red ribbon wrapped around her leg. Reminiscent of his animation for Monty Python earlier in his career, the borders of the one sheet are decorated with non sequitur-esque images such as a hand dropping an apple; the head of Christopher Plummer with an elongated tongue; a cobra; and bizarre jellyfish-like creatures swimming under the main picture. In a world of floating heads and various other poster cliches, it is nice to see that the art of the one sheet isn't dead yet. Saul Bass and Frank McCarthy need not roll over in their graves yet.

The art of painted poster art is dying. I think back to all the wonderful movies from my childhood, and every one of them was majestic. I can remember such beautiful art by Drew Struzan, Frank McCarthy, Bill Gold, Jack David, Richard Amsel, Tom Jung, Bob Peak and others. And I don't mean to sound all, "back in my day everything was better..." but the age of photoshop and floating heads has made the art of movie posters a lot less interesting to me. When a beautifully hand-crafted poster comes along, we celebrate it. In the past couple years, Drew Struzan has created some great art for Hellboy II and Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, and featured many other artists in past editions of Cool Stuff.
