The First Power: 1990 Lou Diamond Phillips horror thriller gets a novelization
Jeff Kober in The First Power (1990)
I was only about 7 years old when I first watched writer/director Robert Resnikoff’s 1990 supernatural horror thriller The First Power – and as you might imagine, the things that movie had to show me shook my world and creeped the hell out of me. I loved it! I have counted The First Power as one of my favorites ever since, so it’s very cool to see that it has finally been given the novelization treatment, courtesy of Christian Francis. Hard copies of The First Power novelization can be purchased at This Link, and the Kindle edition is available Here.

Here’s the description: Based on the original screenplay, this novel delivers the high-stakes action, horror, and supernatural tension that made the film unforgettable. Detective Russell Logan thought he had ended Patrick Channing’s reign of terror. The serial killer was caught, sentenced to death, and executed. But some killers don’t stay dead.

Some sad news for Young and the Restless and its fans. According to Variety, Wings Hauser, who played Greg Foster on the soap from 1977 to 1981 passed away from natural causes at 78 years of age. More details below.

Wings Hauser’s Acting Legacy

Hauser played a recast of Greg Foster, taking the role over from James Houghton, from 1973 to 1976, and Brian Kerwin, from 1976 to 1977.

Foster was an attorney, brother of Jill Abbott (Jess Walton), and was also Nikki Newman’s (Melody Thomas Scott) first husband.

Hauser would return to the soap in 2010 for three episodes when his mom, Elizabeth “Liz” Foster (Julianna McCarthy) was ill and passed away. After Hauser left the soap in 1981, the role was recast once again, with Howard McGillin stepping into the part.

With that said, Hauser’s acting legacy extends beyond the land of soaps. He played the villain, pimp Ramrod, in Vice Squad, released in...

Aff Review: Herpes Boy
Herpes Boy won the Austin Film Festival Audience Award in the Comedy Vanguard category, which should come as no surprise to anyone fortunate enough to catch either of the sold-out Aff screenings. The filmmakers and stars -- including the charming Beth Grant who also co-produced the film -- chose to stand during both screenings so that more festival attendees could see their film. With such an endearing and supportive force, it's no wonder that heart and passion transfers to the screen in this funny and poignant film.

Herpes Boy was directed by Nathaniel Atcheson and is based on the Herpes Boy YouTube web series created by Byron Lane in 2007. In the screen adaptation Byron wrote, he plays the lead character Rudolph Murray, who hates his life and is a bit of a hypochondriac. He has a large purple birthmark on his upper lip and everyday he finds someone staring, pointing,...

We are seeking working actors from anywhere in the country.Beth Grant, Los AngelesOn the plane, headed back to L.A. from the Austin Film Festival, where the movie I helped produce, the sweet-hearted "Herpes Boy," the kid with a birthmark and an unfortunate nickname, had its world premiere. Our modestly budgeted, truly independent little movie was a great big fat hit. We sold out both screenings, sadly having to turn people away. We got great reviews and did many press interviews,...
