In the entertainment industry, several projects are tossed before they can make it to the development stage. Out of those that do end up being made, only a fraction of them end up surviving and getting more than a few seasons. However, the majority of these are canceled before they can take flight, ending the saga with just a single season, and leaving fans on a cliffhanger for the rest of their lives. This is what happened with Peacock’s latest TV series, Teacup.

A horror-thriller television show with a fresh premise, Teacup was a promising show that ended up being cut in this cut-throat world of streaming where stakes and losses are higher than in the world of television. Yet, the decision comes as a particularly bitter pill to swallow for viewers who found themselves enthralled by the show’s eerie settings, layered characters portrayed by a brilliantly talented cast,...

The James Wan-produced series Teacup, which is an adaptation of the 1988 bestseller Stinger, written by Robert R. McCammon (pick up a copy Here), had its premiere on the Peacock streaming service back in October – and while JoBlo’s own Alex Maidy thought it was a good show (you can read his 7/10 review at This Link), it apparently didn’t connect with as many viewers as Peacock was hoping it would. Variety reports that Peacock has cancelled the show after just one season. Variety notes that “Peacock does not typically release viewership information so one cannot gauge the kind of audience the show found, but it failed to make a dent on the Nielsen Top 10 streaming charts.”
McCammon’s novel has the following description: The story takes place during a single twenty-four hour period in Inferno, Texas. Inferno is a town in trouble, driven to the brink by racial tension,...

Peacock has chosen not to continue its horror-thriller series Teacup for a second season, ending the adaptation of Robert McCammon’s book Stinger. The series started in October 2024 and had a famous cast, including Yvonne Strahovski and Scott Speedman.
Set in rural Georgia, Teacup is about strangers coming together because of an unknown danger. The show got a 70% approval rate on Rotten Tomatoes and mostly good reviews, but it didn’t do well on Nielsen’s streaming charts. Peacock usually keeps its viewing numbers secret and does not share specific details.
The series had a talented artistic team. Ian McCulloch was the writer and executive director, and E.L. Katz, who directed The Haunting of Bly Manor and Channel Zero, directed the first two episodes. Kevin Tancharoen directed the final episode. Wan, Michael Clear, and Rob Hackett served as executive producers. The show was produced by James Wan’s Atomic Monster production company.

Horror series are one of the hardest to bring to the screen in any meaningful and long-lasting way, and this has been proven again as the Ian McCulloch and James Wan produced Teacup has been canceled by Peacock after a single season. Despite gaining a lot of positive reviews and a growing dedicated fanbase, the viewing figures were apparently not up to scratch for Peacock – which was possibly telling considering the show never graced the Top 10 of the streaming charts.

No more Teacup for us. According to a Variety exclusive, Peacock has canceled the horror series after just one season.
Premiering in October 2024, Teacup was one of two new horror shows released by the streaming service alongside Hysteria!. No word yet on the future of Hysteria!, but we now know that Teacup will end with its eight-episode run.
Inspired by the novel Stinger written by Robert McCammon, Teacup follows a group of people trapped on a rural farm in Georgia. By the end of the first episode, a mysterious man wearing a gas mask shows up and paints a line around the farm, one that acts as a boundary trapping everyone inside. We quickly learn why. Any living being that crosses the line trying to escape disintegrates into a bloody mess. And that's just the beginning of the threats these characters must face.

It's going to be one and done for the horror series Teacup on Peacock. While the reviews were respectable, with horror legend Stephen King even offering his endorsement, the show is not going to get a chance to continue.
Per Variety, Teacup has been officially canceled by Peacock after just one season. The news follows the series dropping on the streaming platform in October 2024, culminating with the debut of its finale on Halloween. Its fate has since been unclear, but unfortunately for fans, it's ultimately turned out to be bad news. Among those feeling the disappointment is likely Stephen King, who publicly encouraged others to check out the series after he was impressed by what he saw.

The Chenoweth family may have defeated Assassin, but they couldn't survive the threat of cancellation. Peacock's horror series Teacup is ending after only one season on the streaming platform, per Variety. Created by Ian McCulloch as an adaptation of the Robert McCammon novel Stinger, it debuted last year in October as the latest horror project from horror maestro James Wan and his Atomic Monster production company. Despite solid reviews from critics and the big names attached to help make the spooky rural Georgia story something special, it apparently failed to capture an audience, unable to break into the Nielsen Top 10 streaming charts.

Television has proven itself to be an excellent medium for video game adaptations, given their tendency toward sprawling stories that need more room to breathe than a two or even three-hour film will allow. With the mega success of shows like The Witcher, The Last of Us, and Fallout, Hollywood is hungry for more series to fill their programming lineups. There are numerous game-to-tv adaptations currently in the works, including God of War, Mass Effect, and Devil May Cry, among others.

If youve ever wondered what happens between takes on Stranger Things, one cast member is ready to share what its like working with fan favorite David Harbour, who plays beleaguered Chief Hopper in the hit sci-fi show. Rob Morgan's character, Officer Powell, became the new police chief when Hopper disappeared he was later found in a Russian gulag in Season 4. Morgan took time while promoting his pivotal role in Peacocks new horror thriller Teacup to share his experience working with Harbour.
David Harbour is very grounded, very cool. He's the kind of cat that'll be reading a book in between the takes, you know. You're like, Damn, that's so intelligent. He looks so cool over there reading that book in between takes, even though he's got like a five-page scene that we're doing, he still has the wherewithal to read some book. I was always impressed with David about that.

Horror visionaries have long been walking the thin line between showing and leaving it up to audience interpretation. Sometimes, its proven to be much more effective to hide the reveal and instead allow audiences to use their imaginations, as what our brains come up with can oftentimes be multiple times more frightening than any special effects would allow. This was the way that Ian McCulloch, the showrunner for Peacocks upcoming horror series, Teacup, approached the projects monster. Inspired by Robert R. McCammons novel, Stinger, the creative team knew going into the production that those who read the book already had a solid image in their heads of the characters and creature.

Don’t cross the line.
That’s what the trailer for Teacup, the forthcoming Peacock series from horror mastermind James Wan, wants you to know.
In the trailer (below) for the horror-thriller starring Yvonne Strahovski (Handmaid’s Tale) and Scott Speedman (Grey’s Anatomy), a boy (Caleb Dolden) goes on a walk and is seemingly changed forever by what he’s seen.
“He says we’re trapped,” he tells Strahovski’s character. Who? “The man in my head. We need to hide… because it’s coming. And it kills everything that gets in its way.”
The two minute-plus first look at Teacup is eerily set to Harry Nilsson’s “Think About Your Troubles.” The animals are scared. And an anonymous figure draws a line that, if crossed, leads to what sounds to be a gruesome death. Speedman’s character is warned by a stranger wearing a gas mask not to trust anyone,...

Peacock is set to premiere a new horror series called “Teacup” on October 10th. The show was developed by acclaimed horror producer James Wan and is based loosely on the bestselling novel “Stinger” by Robert McCammon. “Teacup” tells the story of a rural family who faces a mysterious threat in their small Georgia community.
Ian McCulloch serves as the showrunner and has adapted the novel for television. While the original story was set in Texas, McCulloch moved the setting to the backwoods of Georgia. The ensemble cast includes established actors like Yvonne Strahovski of “The Handmaid’s Tale” fame alongside Scott Speedman, Chaske Spencer, and Rob Morgan. McCulloch describes “Teacup” as blending different genres like thriller, horror, family drama and science fiction into a single “keyhole” story focused on one family.

Peacock is looking to get in on the small-town horror genre with the official Teacup trailer. The show, created by Yellowstone alum Ian McCulloch, is loosely inspired by Robert McCammon's 1988 novel Stinger, exploring a group of people in rural Georgia who find themselves trapped when a mysterious threat pushes them into a state of paranoia as they try to determine how to survive. The video opens by introducing some of the residents of the small town, including Strahovski's Maggie and her family, whose son Arlo wanders into the woods to follow a stray goat from their farm, only to be visited by a mysterious entity.

James Wan produces the horror series Teacup, set for October 2024, which feels very inspired by The Thing. Teacup adapts Robert R. McCammon's Stinger, but moves the setting from the desert to rural Georgia. Teacup will modernize Stinger, focusing on the family drama and scaling back to a more intimate framework.
James Wan is producing an upcoming horror series that I believe will be a worthy successor to The Thing. I'm one of the biggest fans of John Carpenter's movie output there is, with The Thing being my personal favorite. This 1982 chiller stranded twelve men in an Antarctic research outpost with a shape-shifting alien monster. Critics ripped the film to pieces upon release, but over time, it's come to be recognized as one of the best horror movies ever made.
I'm still disappointed a Thing sequel by Carpenter never happened, though rumors suggest the filmmaker is involved with a possible Blumhouse reboot.

I’m not a spectacle writer. I’m a less-is-more writer. I gravitate more...

Peacock has shared a new teaser for “Teacup,” James Wan’s horror thriller that will premiere with its first two episodes on Oct. 10, followed by two episodes weekly through Halloween.
The 30-second teaser shows off an aerial shot of a house in the middle of the woods during the daytime. As the camera zooms closer to the house and flips back and forth between the Chenoweth family, the words “We are in control” appear on screen.
But after night falls, a man with a gas mask is seen walking the grounds before the words change to “We are not in control.” The teaser then makes several quick cuts between characters as they appear to be searching for someone, with lights flickering in the background, one character strangling another in a hallway and a final shot of a bloodied hand appearing next to a young boy.
