George R.R. Martin’s The Winds of Winter is not yet here, but the author released a couple of sample chapters in the past few years to increase fans’ excitement and keep us all anticipating the book.

Even though we’ve been feeling frustrated as he gave fewer updates in recent times, it doesn’t take away the fact that the preview chapters gave us all something to look forward to.

Some of the snippets from the sixth installment of the A Song of Ice and Fire series were incredibly surprising, while others merely teased what we could expect from the viewpoint characters.

So far, we have 11 chapters, and we will rank them from the least to the most exciting parts.

HBO's Game of Thrones is a landmark show that deserves all the accolades it's gotten. It's not an exaggeration to say that it quite literally reshaped the television landscape; for years afterward, we've watched as streaming services and television networks competed to take the crown following the end of the series' run in 2019.

While the show itself deserves its flowers, a huge part of what made Thrones as good as it was is that it had excellent source material. George R.R. Martin's A Song of Ice and Fire novels have a sprawling story with tons of memorable characters, all vying for their own personal interests or just trying to survive in the gritty fantasy realms of Westeros and Essos. The show largely brought those characters to life with incredible fidelity. But for every Arya Stark or Tyrion Lannister, who made the leap to the screen flawlessly, there were characters...

Game of Thrones is one of those shows which had mountains of hype and then massively failed to live up to it by the end. Based on George R.R. Martin’s unfinished novel series, the show became popular for its story of political deceit and realistic deaths. The books and the show had a habit of mercilessly killing off beloved characters.

While the show followed the novels till its final two seasons, there were plenty of changes in timelines and characters who survived. It seemed like the makers wanted to unnecessarily kill off great characters for shock value and to glorify other fan-favorite ones. One of the biggest victims of this was Ser Barristan Selmy.

Exclusive: Samuel Goldwyn Films has acquired North American rights to The Last Rifleman, a WWII veteran drama starring Pierce Brosnan (The Great Lillian Hall).

Written by Kevin Fitzpatrick and directed by Terry Loane, the film will be released in theaters on November 8. Other titles set for that frame include Focus Features’ awards prospect Conclave from Edward Berger, Lionsgate’s family comedy The Best Christmas Pageant Ever, Vertical’s sci-fi thriller Elevation starring Anthony Mackie and Morena Baccarin, and Sony/Crunchyroll’s Overlord: The Sacred Kingdom.

A brand-new adaptation of the beloved video game, Mutant Year Zero, is in the works by Heroic Signatures, and some A-list talent has signed on to voice its animal protagonists. While the superhero genre could be on the verge of making a comeback, video game adaptations have risen to become the new go-to following the tremendous success of HBO's The Last of Us and The Super Mario Bros. Movie in 2023, which bodes well for Mutant Year Zero.

The new film is the first animated feature from studio Heroic Signatures. Today, Heroic Signatures announced the company is in production on its first animated feature film for its popular franchise, Mutant: Year Zero. Based on Mutant: Year Zero Road to Eden, a tactical adventure video game first released in 2018, the film follows an unlikely team of animal mutants as they navigate a post-apocalyptic wasteland in search of answers.

Game of Thrones was huge when it first started out. But as time went on, people started to notice cracks in the story. Changes were made from the beloved books, characters were killed in cruel and pointless ways, and massive plot holes sprung up. Audiences objected greatly to the show's direction.

Many of the biggest complaints sprung up during the final season of Game of Thrones. Fan interest went rapidly downhill during those six episodes, and it's generally agreed that it was a poor conclusion to the series. The first trailer has been unveiled for “Kalki 2898 Ad,” the Indian sci-fi epic starring Prabhas, Amitabh Bachchan, Kamal Haasan, Deepika Padukone and Disha Patani. The film, which is directed by Nag Ashwin and backed by Vyjayanthi Movies, was teased at the San Diego Comic-Con last year. While a budget for the film has not been revealed, Variety understands that it is in the region of $72 million, which will make it one of the most expensive Indian films of all time.

In Hindu mythology, Kalki is the 10th and final incarnation of the god Vishnu who appears in order to end the Kali Yuga, the darkest period in mankind’s history.

National Geographic has released the official trailer for the eight-part limited series A Small Light.

The series will have a multinetwork launch on Monday, May 1, at 9/8c with a simulcast across National Geographic, Nat Geo Wild, and Lifetime of the first two episodes.

On Saturday, May 6 at 8/7c, Freeform will encore the premiere episodes.

For the full series run, two episodes will debut every Monday at 9/8c on National Geographic, stream the next day on Disney+ and Hulu, and will be available on the Nat Geo TV and ABC apps.

National Geographic has release a trailer for A Small Light, its upcoming scripted series about those who boldly chose to hide Anne Frank’s family and others from the Nazis during World War II.

The eight-episode series will have a multinetwork launch on Monday, May 1, at 9/8c — with a simulcast of the first two episodes across National Geographic, Nat Geo Wild and Lifetime. Freeform will air the same episodes on Saturday, May 6 at 8pm.

A first look at the third and final season of “Derry Girls” is finally here — and just in time for St. Patrick’s Day.

U.K. broadcaster Channel 4 has unveiled the first Season 3 still and trailer for the show, which garnered global popularity via Netflix. The drama is created and written by Lisa McGee, who mined her own experiences growing up in Northern Ireland during the Troubles.

While Season 1 observed the gang navigating their teens in 1990s Derry against a backdrop of The Troubles, Season 2 charted the group navigating their parents, parties, love interests and school against the backdrop of a precarious peace process. In Season 3 — which still doesn’t have a launch date on Channel 4 — viewers will see that while Northern Ireland is growing up, “this gang of eejits certainly aren’t anytime soon.”

Christopher Walken series “The Outlaws” has been renewed for a second season. Walken will also return as Frank Sheldon.

Created by Stephen Merchant (“The Office”) and Elgin James (“Mayans M.C.”) the comedy thriller follows seven convicts completing community service in Bristol, U.K.

The second season, which has already wrapped and is due to air next year, follows on directly from season 1. Both seasons were filmed back to back. The show is a BBC One/Amazon Studios co-production.

“Derry Girls,” the popular Channel 4 comedy set in 1990s Northern Ireland, is ending after its upcoming Season 3, creator Lisa McGee announced on Twitter on Thursday.

Season 3, which is heading into production, will mark the end of the show, but a trio of seasons was always the plan, McGee said.

“It was always the plan to say goodbye after three series. ‘Derry Girls’ is a coming of age story; following five ridiculous teenagers as they slowly…very slowly…start to become adults, while around them the place they call home starts to change too and Northern Ireland enters a new, more hopeful phase — which was a small, magical window of time,” McGee wrote. “‘Derry Girls’ is a love letter to the place I come from and the people who shaped me. It has been an honour to write it and I will be forever proud of everything it’s achieved.

Derry Girls has been one of our favorite shows ever since it first aired back in 2018, and luckily, we won't have to wait long for it to return. Ian McElhinney, who plays Granda Joe, recently confirmed in an interview with the Belfast Telegraph that filming for the third series is due to begin next month.

It's been two years since series two ended, and we've been desperately awaiting the return of our favorite cast members, so we're naturally very excited by this news. A specific date for filming has yet to be confirmed, but since it's basically September already, we can only imagine that it'll begin pretty soon!
