First Details on Slasher Squad: “Slasher Squad is an 8 minute, action-horror short film about a team of sexy and deadly women who hunt slasher villains by using themselves as bait. Think of a darker Charlie’S Angels meets Friday The 13th, inspired by the likes of Buffy, Mission Impossible and even Scooby Doo. It’s not a comedy but has a wicked sense of humour, playing with the conventions of the genre alongside films like Wes Craven’s Scream and Joss Whedon’s recent Cabin In The Woods.

It’s a genre mashup of horror and action, taking place in a larger-than-life world. A place where sexy, kick-ass heroines battle terrifying villains.

Chicago – “Diary of a Wimpy Kid,” and main character Greg Heffley, is familiar to a generation of kid book lovers through the line drawings of creator Jeff Kinney. The film version has child actor Zachary Gordon bringing Greg to life.

Greg Heffley is starting his first day of middle school, and is desperate to fit in on his self-proclaimed popularity index – he is a generously ranked 19th. The problem is he is associated with some less-than-popular fellow travelers. His best friend Rowley Jefferson (Robert Capron), is still stuck in the less cool elementary school mode (he asks Greg to come over and “play” rather than “hang out”) and Greg is also forced to eat in the cafeteria on the floor with the dreaded, weird Fregley (Grayson Russell).

Chicago – In the best selling arena that is kid’s books, author Jeff Kinney has won praise and sales for his “Diary of a Wimpy Kid” series. The film version of that series is about to be released, with Zachary Gordon as Greg and Robert Capron as Rowley.

The Wimpy Kid series focuses on the middle school tribulations of Greg Heffley, who hasn’t grown as tall as some of his classmates, and whose best friend Rowley is somewhat of a social pariah. But Greg is willing to give it his best shot, and the film focuses on his efforts despite the challenges of being ostracized, practicing an inept social bearing and trying to avoid a big brother who tortures him. Basically Greg is you and me.
