Vampires and Pirates and Illegal Abalone, Oh My! Why NCIS: Sydney Is a Perfect Friday-Night Hang
Image
It’s a g’day to be an NCIS: Sydney fan, seeing as the franchise’s first international spinoff has been having all kinds of fun with its sophomore run, airing Fridays on CBS.

In fact, I have found NCIS: Sydney to be a perfect, often-superfun Friday-night hang, occupying — in a small way — a similar space as, say, Hawaii Five-0 or MacGyver.

New 'NCIS: Sydney' Season 2, Episode 9 Sneak Peek Has the Team Facing Australian Wildlife
Image
Only two episodes remain until Season 2 of NCIS: Sydney ends, and this time, the Afp and NCIS team will have to face their biggest adversary yet — Australian wildlife. This episode is the first half of the show's Season finale, and unlike the previous episodes, this team is no longer in Sydney.

In the next episode, the NCIS/Afp team will fly to Darwin to investigate the death of a U.S. soldier, which occurred during a joint training exercise between U.S. and Australian troops. Unfortunately, due to the heat and weather, the military and our agents will succumb to "Mango Madness," a colloquial term Australians use to describe erratic behavior during hot and tropical weather. In addition, since the investigation is no longer in the big city, they also have to face the wildlife, like crocodiles.

Episode 9 is the first half of the show's season finale. It has already...

'NCIS' Fans Need To Watch 'NCIS: Sydney' Before Season 3
Image
One of CBS’s most beloved shows has gone international. NCIS, the popular and long-running military criminal investigation series, has produced several spin-offs over the years, but this time it’s moved the crime tracking down under. The fourth spin-off of the popular NCIS franchise, NCIS: Sydney joined CBS’ impressive catalog of crime investigation dramas with its premiere in 2023. Following a joint task force between American NCIS agents and Australian police, the series takes the familiar smart and sleek NCIS style and adds an international twist. While critics have generally praised the series, it has been a letdown for fans so far. But while the series, currently in its sophomore season, may have a number of growing pains,...

NCIS Season 22, Episode 13 Review: An Old Enemy Returns in a Bloody Crime
Image
The following contains major spoilers for NCIS Season 22, Episode 13, "Bad Blood," which debuted Monday, Feb. 24 on CBS.

NCIS Season 22, Episode 13, "Bad Blood" is not for the faint of heart -- yet it does include the return of one of the show's villains. The episode centers around a blood drive that goes horribly wrong and claims the life of a Navy lieutenant, but eventually pivots to a story involving a very familiar face and a health and wellness company. In some ways, it resembles more of an episode of Midsomer Murders than NCIS.

"Bad Blood" starts with the shooting death of Lieutenant Barbara Jellison, but she's quickly forgotten about because her murder happens in the commission of a larger crime. That crime leads audiences through a gross murder and lots of details about blood before circling back to events from one of NCIS' landmark episodes. And while this one won't go down in history,...

The following contains major spoilers from NCIS: Sydney Season 2, Episode 3, "Back in the Ussr," which debuted Friday, Feb. 21 on CBS.

NCIS: Sydney Season 2, Episode 3, "Back in the Ussr," ventures into familiar territory. The NCIS franchise as a whole enjoys telling stories that combine Naval drama and espionage, including those connected to the Cold War. One recent example is NCIS Season 22, Episode 5, "In From the Cold." This episode resembles that one; they're both spy plots with a heavy dose of sentimentality.

"Back in the Ussr" starts when the body of a missing Naval officer is found buried under a concrete slab. As the Sydney team investigates, it becomes apparent that Lieutenant Harvey Wilson was involved in espionage, but they have to figure out to what extent.

NCIS Sydney Season 2 Premiere Delayed
Image
NCIS: Sydney fans who are anxiously anticipating the show’s comeback will have to wait a bit longer. The Season 2 debut, which was originally scheduled for Friday, January 31 at 8 p.m. Et, has been postponed by one week, according to CBS.

This choice enables the network to use the time slot originally set aside for the spinoff to broadcast a soon-to-be-unveiled special.

Despite the delay, other popular CBS shows like Fire Country and S.W.A.T. will stick to their schedules, airing new episodes at 9 p.m. Et and 10 p.m. Et, respectively.

Interestingly, S.W.A.T. has taken over the slot previously occupied by Blue Bloods, while NCIS: Sydney will now settle into S.W.A.T.’s former time.

NCIS Spoilers – What To Expect In Season 2

NCIS: Sydney, which debuted in the U.S. on November 14, 2023, after a November 10 premiere on Paramount+ Australia, has captivated audiences with its unique blend of Naval crimes and Australian charm.

NCIS: Sydney has bad news for fans about the Season 2 premiere
William McInnes, Olivia Swann, Tuuli Narkle, Todd Lasance, Sean Sagar, and Mavournee Hazel in NCIS: Sydney (2023)
The NCIS: Sydney season premiere has been postponed by CBS.

The bad news was revealed that a new episode will not arrive on Friday, January 31.

NCIS: Sydney Season 1 episodes have been airing this winter, giving fans a chance to re-watch some of the content from last year.

It also helped serve as a buildup to the second season premiering on January 31.

Unfortunately, CBS has plans for a different show to fill that 8/7c timeslot.

No official announcement has been made, but it could be related to the California wildfires.

CBS previously pulled Fire Country from primetime as the fires raged out of control. It was done out of respect for the people of California. As Fire Country fans already know, the show is about people working for Cal Fire.

Now, an unannounced special will air at 8/7c on Friday, January 31. Stay tuned to learn what CBS does with that timeslot.

It could also be a fun show during the upcoming winter hiatus for NCIS and NCIS: Origins.

NCIS: Sydney Season 2 Cast & Character Guide
Wilmer Valderrama, Rocky Carroll, Gary Cole, Katrina Law, Sean Murray, Brian Dietzen, and Diona Reasonover in NCIS (2003)
The NCIS franchise started over three decades ago, finding great success as the original and with several spinoffs.

When the writer's strikes happened in 2023, fans were left without an NCIS fix for the first time in over twenty years.

Meanwhile, a new spinoff, NCIS: Sydney, was happening in another part of the world for the first out-of-country NCIS spinoff in history.

The upcoming NCIS spinoff featuring Tony Dinozzo and Ziva David may also take place out of the US.

Originally, there were no plans for NCIS: Syndey to air on US television. But when the strikes shut down television production, CBS picked it up for the fall lineup.

Fans rejoiced at the news of an order for a second season of NCIS: Sydney, while we mourned the cancellation announcement for sister show NCIS: Hawai'i.

NCIS is a successful series with multiple spinoffs that have entertained viewers for over two decades. The first international venture -- NCIS: Sydney -- takes viewers to a different continent with a new cast and intriguing scenarios.

The first season saw extreme success, with "Gone Fission" NCIS: Sydney Season 1 Episode 1 having more viewers than any CBS premiere in streaming history. Paramount+ and CBS reported a combined 10 million viewers.

Unsurprisingly, US viewers love the Sydney spinoff as much as the Hawai'i version, which usually gets five million regular broadcast viewers. Even the original NCIS receives seven million viewers, minus streaming and other viewing methods.

But given that NCIS: Syndey takes place in Australia, it makes sense that it airs on Australian networks, too. It has become the most-watched locally produced (Australian) show aired on the Australian Paramount+ network.

Here is everything that we know about NCIS: Syndey Season 2.
