Nicholas Hoult, actor and longtime supporter of Save the Children, has surprised children at a play project in London as he becomes the charity’s newest celebrity ambassador, just a day after attending a fan event for his latest film, Superman.

Visiting Rich Mix in East London, Hoult – who stars as Lex Luthor in the film –joined an after-school club to surprise children aged 7 to 11 from the local area as they took part in a film and multimedia workshop on what it means to be a superhero. In addition to participating in the workshop, which saw the children script, film and act out their very own sketches of villains and superheroes, Hoult also took part in a Q&a session with the students.

Nicholas Hoult has taken on an important new role following the worldwide success of Superman. The British actor has gone from playing one of DC Comics' most notorious supervillains, in Lex Luthor, to making a heroic difference in the lives of vulnerable children in real life.

Hoult recently surprised a group of kids, aged 7 to 11, at East London's Rich Mix after-school theater program as his first official duty as a U.K. ambassador for the charitable organization Save the Children. The kids got to see a sneak peek at Superman and take part in a workshop with Hoult about what it means to be a superhero in real life.

The former X-Men star opened up to the youngsters about what inspired him to start acting at age 3, after he was discovered by a theater producer, as well as sharing some of the CGI secrets behind Superman's most thrilling action sequences.

Even though Superman has just been released, Nicholas Hoult has already scored his next role — an ambassador for the global humanitarian organization, Save the Children.

Hoult, who plays villain Lex Luthor in the new DC Studios film, recently stopped by the charity and community arts center Rich Mix in London to hold a Q&a with kids and discuss his childhood, what it’s like being part of a superhero movie and his journey as an actor.
