DVD Review: The Lost Episode (aka Pennhurst)
The Lost Episode

Stars: Haylie Duff, Beverley Mitchell, Michael Rooker, Amanda Dunn, J. Larose, Jimmy Palumbo, Michael McKiddy | Written by Joe Nelms, Sue Bailey, John Cody Fasano | Directed by Michael Rooker

I’m not sure how many times I’ve had to type a review about a horror based in an abandoned asylum where a film crew were making a show but mysteriously disappeared but yes, I’m typing it again. It’s typical that this one would appear with the very apt name of… The Lost Episode (aka Pennhurst if you want to use its original title). Directed and starring Michael Rooker this of course gets the attention of horror fans, but can this film get survive the curse of the asylum horrors not named Session 9?

When a mother turns up at an abandoned asylum looking for her missing son a security guard agrees to search for him,...

'DeadHeads' Review
By Marcey Papandrea, MoreHorror.com

Right off the bat, I enjoyed DeadHeads for what it was and I had quite a few laughs along the ride. And this film is definitely a ride, it’s a zombie/comedy/buddy/roadtrip film and I am pretty sure I hadn’t seen one of those till now. It certainly is an ambitious film, and it should be in the wake of so many zombie related films out there. It has a pretty good hook, which sets it aside from the rest.

The film begins with a man named Mike (Michael McKiddy) waking up and finding there is a zombie attack in progress, however he doesn’t seem to notice that he himself is a zombie but a coherent one. He meets another coherent zombie Brent (Ross Kdder) and the pair decides to embark on a roadtrip to find Mike’s long lost love.

Deadheads Versus Black Hats: A Movie Review
Directors/writers: Bret Pierce and Drew T. Pierce.

Deadheads is a zomedy in the vein of Shaun of the Dead, Aaah! Zombies!!, and A Little Bit Zombie. The film here is most remiscent of Shaun of the Dead in which two friends try to deal with the zombie apocalypse to moderate results. However in this film Mike (Michael McKiddy) and Brent (Ross Kidder) are not of the living. Instead, they are zombies released from a military lab'. The next 90 minutes is then a road trip styled film as the characters are pursued by the scientists. Deadheads blends genres along the way including: comedy, action and romance. Pandering to so many genres seems to weaken all of them, but overall this is a fun film for zombie movie fans.

Mike and Brent meet up with Cliff (Harry Burkey) after their escape. Cliff is burying the renowned prostitute Pei-Pei's ashes in Lake Michigan.

DVD Review: Deadheads
Deadheads

Stars: Michael McKiddy, Ross Kidder, Markus Taylor, Thomas Galasso, Natalie Victoria | Written and Directed by Brett Pierce, Drew T. Pierce

**With Deadheads due out on DVD in the UK on Monday I think it’s a perfect time to repost my review of the film from this year’s Frightfest, and at the same time urge everyone to go out and buy what I consider to be one of the best films of 2011**

The brothers Pierce make their feature film debut with Deadheads a “zombedy” about two slackers, Mike (McKiddy) and Brent (Kidder), who awake in the midst of a mysterious zombie apocalypse only to discover that they themselves are zombies! Realising that they’re more than your average zombie, still with the ability to think and talk, the pair head off on a road trip to find Mike’s former flame and the love of his life, played by Natalie Victoria,...

Deadheads and Zombie Humour: A Movie Review
Directors/Writers: Brett and Drew Pierce.

Cast: Ross Kidder, Michael McKiddy and Markus Taylor.

The Deadheads is less about the horror of being undead and more about the relationships known back then and made now. When Mike Kellerman (Michael McKiddy) awakens to the unknown—and unaware he's technically a zombie of a new generation—the only help he's going to find is with Brent Guthrie (Ross Kidder), a drifter who's all about living life even though he’s dead too.

Part bro-rom-com and part adventure, this film quickly gets these two characters paired up for a look at what life is like for two outcasts. A part of what defines a horror film is retained, and that's to look deep into mankind's fears of acceptance within society.

Kellerman is an author, an individual who can hardly make ends meet, and he's in still in love with his high school sweetheart.

Even Zombies Can Be Slackers In Deadheads

Afm 2011: The Deadheads Find U.S. Distro

After Dark 2011: ‘Deadheads’ – Buddy comedy, now starring zombies
Deadheads

Directed by Brett Pierce, Drew T. Pierce

USA, 2011

The Pierce brothers have a strange brew in Deadheads. Zombie-comedy is an established genre at this point. The strangeness comes from the combining of bits of buddy comedy, teen movie, and road trip stuff they mix in; parts of Deadheads even feel like a Blink-182 music video, circa Enema of the State. For lurching corpses, zombies are pretty versatile.

This all works because Deadheads has a great premise. Mike (Michael McKiddy) wakes up in the middle of an undead outbreak and discovers two things. One, he’s a zombie. Two, he’s just not as much of a zombie as the other zombies. While they’re lurching, groaning, and gorging on flesh, he’s running, talking, and sick to his stomach. Enter Brent (Ross Kidder), a similarly dead but still talking goofball. The two aren’t quite zombies, but they aren’t human any more either.

Aff Review: DeadHeads
The popularity of AMC's The Walking Dead series testifies to the longevity of this horror subgenre, with the success of Shaun of the Dead and Zombieland prompting more "zombedies." Both of these movies focus on the survival of unaffected individuals during a zombie apocalypse, but DeadHeads takes another road with the story of two zombies just trying to survive and fulfill unrequited love. Written, produced and directed by brothers Brett Pierce and Drew T. Pierce, DeadHeads pays homage to many of the classic zombie/undead films, especially Sam Raimi's The Evil Dead, for which their father Bart Pierce handled the photographic special effects.

DeadHeads centers around Mike Kellerman (Michael McKiddy), who awakens to find himself in a strange place. After escaping, he encounters and runs in fear from flesh-eating zombies. What Mike doesn't quite get is that he is also one of the "undead," as he is able to speak and think regularly.

Deadheads – (Screamfest) Review
Deadheads answers the burning questions like: “What happens when you’re a zombie and you get boarded up in a bar with a bunch of gun-wielding humans waiting to blow away the first zombie that crosses their path?”

The new horror-comedy from “The Pierce Brothers” blasts us with pure retro fun, right from the scratchy, grindhousing beginning credits then into the story of Mike Kellerman (Michael McKiddy), who’s just awakened from a three-year coma to find himself a walking/talking zombie. He soon befriends Brent (Ross Kidder), a bubbly, talkative slacker with a similar issue. The guys are then joined by the mindless zombie Cheese (Markus Taylor) and picked up by Nam vet Cliff (Harry Burkey).

The group sets out on a cross-country mission to find Mike’s lost love, Ellie (Natalie Victoria) and also to find the answer to another burning question: “Why are they the only zombies that can talk?...

Love and People Eating in Deadheads
In a zombie uprising it’s hard enough being one of the walking dead what with the drooling, decomposing tissue and dang gimpy leg, but to throw inexplicable coherence into the mix and there is total zombie road trip chaos. Three years after being shot, one guy wakes up and finds that he has died and gone all zombie. Strangely, the dead guy in question is still capable of logical thought, can put to good use those opposable thumbs that most zombies seem to forget all about, and even lament over lost love. So what’s a thinking zombie to do? Go on a road trip cross country, look her up, and hope that she won’t wonder about that real, real bad smell, of course! Starring Michael McKiddy, Ross Kidder, and Markus Taylor Deadheads will be road-tripping for love in 2011. Official Synopsis: “Two inexplicably coherent zombies awake amidst a...
