Bradley Whitford and Daniel Dae Kim Join Center Theatre Group’s ‘Peter Pan Goes Wrong’
Image
Peter Pan Goes Wrong has roped in Bradley Whitford and Daniel Dae Kim.

The pair are confirmed as special guest stars for the Center Theatre Group production, which will be mounted at the Ahmanson Theatre from Aug. 8 through Sept. 10. Whitford will take the stage Aug. 9-20 while Kim is set to appear Aug. 30-Sept. 10, with both taking on the role of Francis, “a member of the Cornley Drama Society who portrays the Narrator in Peter Pan.”

The production lands in L.A. with a West Coast premiere direct from Broadway. Co-written by Mischief company members Henry Lewis, Jonathan Sayer and Henry Shields, Peter Pan Goes Wrong is described as “a highly physical comedy packed with finely-tuned and inspired slapstick, delivered with split-second timing and ambitious daring stunts.” It follows the Cornley Drama Society as they attempt to present J.M. Barrie’s classic tale amid hi-jinx, accidents and cast disputes.

Drama League Award nominations: 47 performers compete for Distinguished Performance
Image
The Drama League today announced the nominations for the 2023 Drama League Awards. Honoring achievements on and Off-Broadway, the nominations were announced this morning by Roger Bart (“Back to the Future: The Musical”) and Justin Guarini (“Once Upon A One More Time”) at the New York Library for the Performing Arts. Winners will be revealed at the 89th Annual Drama League Awards ceremony at the Ziegfeld Ballroom on Friday, May 19, 2023.

“I don’t think I’ve experienced a theater season in New York ever like this one,” noted Artistic Director Gabriel Stelian-Shanks. “There’s been a range, a breadth, an expansion of possibility that has been truly astonishing to witness. Theater makers have inspired not only with their creativity, but also with their drive and determination to serve audiences with vision and talent. These nominees reflect the promise and greatness inherent in the work of theater folk, and I can’t help but be deeply proud.

‘Peter Pan Goes Wrong’ Broadway Review: All Goes Right As Neil Patrick Harris Joins Mischief Makers
Peter Pan Goes Wrong (2016)
All’s right in the world when Peter Pan Goes Wrong.

The latest impeccable demonstration of disaster-farce concocted and performed by Britain’s gift-to-the-world Mischief Theatre, Peter Pan Goes Wrong currently guest stars Neil Patrick Harris, who fits in so well with the ensemble that he seems like just another one of the gang. That’s high praise for both.

Opening tonight at Broadway’s Ethel Barrymore Theatre, Peter Pan Goes Wrong proves that Mischief’s immensely popular The Play That Goes Wrong – which opened on Broadway in 2017 and remains in New York at the New World Stages Off Broadway – was no fluke. Indeed, Mischief seems to have accomplished on the stage what many a film studio has done on the screen: built a franchise.

West End Hit ‘Peter Pan Goes Wrong’ Sets Spring Broadway Premiere

Peter Pan Goes Wrong, the Olivier Award-nominated comedy from the creators of the Tony-winning The Play That Goes Wrong, will make its Broadway premiere this spring.

Beginning previews at the Ethel Barrymore Theatre on March 17, Peter Pan Goes Wrong opens April 19 for a limited engagement.

Co-written by company members of the UK comedy and stage troupe Mischief, Peter Pan Goes Wrong debuted at the Pleasance Theatre in London in December 2013, and, following a 2014 UK tour, transferred to the West End’s Apollo Theatre for a Christmas season run in 2015. The popular show then returned to the West End the following year for another Christmas season. The play was also adapted into a one-hour BBC One television special broadcast on December 31, 2016.

The Broadway cast of Peter Pan Goes Wrong will include Chris Leask, Henry Lewis, Ellie Morris, Charlie Russell, Jonathan Sayer, Henry Shields, Greg Tannahill and Nancy Zamit. Adam Meggido will direct,...
