Scott Adkins fights for his life in a Japanese Pow camp in the trailer for Prisoner of War

Scott Adkins takes his high-flying kicks and is forced to use them the fighting ring again, but it turns out to be in an unlikely place… at a Pow camp behind enemy lines during World War II. The action star developed the story for Prisoner of War, which was previously called Death March. Independent distributor, Well Go USA, picked up the rights for the film and has now released the trailer. Adkins is likely best known for his character Yuri Boyka from the Undisputed sequels, but the martial artist has also popped up in films like Doctor Strange and John Wick: Chapter 4.

Scott Adkins’ Philippines-Set ‘Death March’ Picked Up for North American Release (Exclusive)

Leading indie distributor Well Go USA has picked up North American rights to “Death March,” an upcoming WWII action film starring and conceived by action star Scott Adkins.

In Adkins’ story, scripted by Marc Clebanoff, a British airman washes ashore after being ejected from his plane and becomes a prisoner in a Japanese-run Pow camp. While waiting to join the infamous Bataan death march, the airman is tortured by the camp commander and is forced to fight for his life against an array of skilled Japanese warriors. Adkins portrays the airman. Veteran actor Peter Shinkoda plays the camp commander.

Under the direction of Louis Mandylor, the film has recently wrapped production in the Subic Bay and Bataan region of the Philippines. Release plans have not yet been finalized.

Exclusive: 2x Emmy nominee Matt Walsh (Veep) has signed on to star alongside Alejandro De Hoyos (The Man from Toronto), Chelsea Rendon (Vida), Francisco Ramos (Gentefied), John Kaler (The Wrong Guy) and Jason Konopisos-Alvarez (Harold & Kumar Escape from Guantanamo Bay) in the action-comedy The Unexpecteds from writer-director Alejandro Montoya Marín.

Pic follows Gary (Walsh) and a group of his best friends as they seek revenge against a social media influencer who has scammed them of their life savings. De Hoyos is producing for Alta California Pictures, with Kaler, Jasmin Espada, Walsh and Pedro Pano co-producing.

Avatar actor Stephen Lang is set to co-star in indie drama Death in Texas opposite Bruce Dern, Ronnie Blevins, and Lara Flynn Boyle. Shooting in El Paso, Texas and Las Cruces, New Mexico, the pic follows Billy (Blevins) who, recently released from jail, will do everything he can to save the only person who stuck by him – his mother, who desperately needs a liver transplant. Scott Windhauser is directing the film from his own script. Brandon Menchen and Tony Adler are producing. Vanessa Kirby and Shia Labeoufhave been tapped to star in Pieces Of A Woman, an indie drama from Sam Levinson’s Little Lamb Productions, a division of Bron Studios. Kornél Mundruczó will direct from a script by his frequent collaborator Kata Wéber. The story is about a grieving woman who, when a home birth goes tragically awry, is thrust into an emotional inner journey by trying to come to terms with her loss while also dealing with the ramifications in her interpersonal relationships with her husband and estranged mother. Little Lamb co-founders Kevin Turen and Ashley Levinson will produce along with Aaron Ryder. Executive producers are Viktória Petrányi, Sam Levinson, Aaron L. Gilbert, Jason Cloth and Stuart Manashil. Creative Wealth Media is co-financing production which will take place in Montreal starting in December.
