Cooper Koch has landed his first-ever Emmy nomination for his lead role as Erik Menendez in Ryan Murphy’s Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story, but the news is a tad bittersweet for the actor who was hoping to hear the names of his co-stars Ari Graynor and Nicholas Alexander Chavez called along with his as the nominees for the 2025 Emmys were announced Tuesday morning.
“I talked to Ari; I’m devastated that she didn’t get it,” Koch tells The Hollywood Reporter. “That’s the one sort of bummer from today that she didn’t get it. Same thing with Nicholas. I think both of them really deserved to be on there, so I’m super bummed that they didn’t get nominated.”

Erik and Lyle Menendez, the brothers infamous for the 1989 fatal killing of their parents, Kitty and Jose Menendez, have scored a critical victory in their legal fight for freedom.
The siblings were convicted in 1996 and sentenced to life in prison without parole. Throughout their 35 years behind bars, Erik and Lyle have long alleged that their actions were in self-defense, driven by the desire to escape a lifetime of sexual and physical abuse. Erik and Lyle filed a habeas petition in March 2023, arguing that claims and evidence of sexual abuse at the hands of their father had been withheld in their second trial and would have changed the outcome.
Last October, District Attorney George Gascón moved to reduce the brothers’ sentence to 50 years to life, which would make Lyle and Erik immediately eligible for parole. In May, the brothers were resentenced to 50 years by Judge Michael Jesic; their parole hearing, initially scheduled for June,...

Javier Bardem and Diego Luna first met 26 years ago on the set of Julian Schnabel’s film “Before Night Falls,” and since then, both have risen to become titans of Spanish-language cinema — and TV stars too. On the true-crime drama “Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story,” Bardem plays the hard-driving, possibly abusive father of two young men desperate to break free of his control. Luna plays a more heroic role, as a thief with a burgeoning political conscience driven to fight the Galactic Empire in the “Star Wars” extension “Andor.”
Javier Bardem: You are a “Star Wars” hero, man. How do you feel?
Diego Luna: I must confess, it feels cool. I grew up watching “Star Wars.” We did “Andor” like in the old days — interacting with droids and machines voiced by an actor through a speaker. [They’re] these wonderful creatures, [and so are the] people working behind the scenes to move them. It’s a kid’s dream.

"People are endlessly occupied, enthralled, and curious about people who have privilege and abuse it," Chloë Sevigny tells Gold Derby about the fascination behind Netflix's Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story.
Sevigny plays Kitty Menendez, who was gunned down in a double parricide alongside her husband, José Menendez (Javier Bardem), by their sons Lyle (Nicholas Alexander Chavez) and Erik (Cooper Koch) on Aug. 20, 1989. The brothers claimed years of sexual and emotional abuse at the hands of their parents before being convicted of their murders in 1996 and sentenced to life in prison.
"How did this unfurl? How did this happen to them? Did it really happen to them? It's kind of a mystery," Sevigny says, speaking about viewers' fascination with the story. The limited series became Netflix's most-watched program since Bridgerton in 2024. "People can take a stance. People get excited when they can have an opinion in that way.

Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story stars Cooper Koch and Nicholas Alexander Chavez had no idea just how much of an impact the show would have on pop culture — and in the real world — when they took on the roles of the convicted killers.
"The fact that this show reframed or repositioned a 30-year-old case in a way that made people rethink how they thought about it, that's just, it's so, so special," Chavez told Gold Derby at an FYC event for the series at West Hollywood’s Pacific Design Center.
The second season of Ryan Murphy’s Monsters anthology dominated the conversation both online and offline when it premiered on Netflix last fall, introducing a new generation to the Menendez brothers’ brutal 1989 killing of their parents in their Beverly Hills home. It’s been over three decades since Erik and Lyle Menendez shook America to its core by committing a crime that, even today, stirs up controversy and emotional debates. These two brothers, once living the high life in Beverly Hills, did the unthinkable — they gunned down their own parents, José and Kitty Menendez, in cold blood. What followed was a twisted rollercoaster of trials, shocking testimonies, and an evolving public perception that still hasn’t found its final chapter. Now, in 2025, people are once again asking: Are the Menendez brothers finally getting out of prison?
Let’s rewind a bit before jumping into what’s happening now. The brothers’ lives — from their troubled upbringing to the gruesome night that changed everything — read like a tragic crime drama. And with the 2024 Netflix docuseries reigniting the world’s interest in their case, the Menendez name is once again trending. So, what’s...

During this particular TV season, it’s easy to understand why parents, especially those of young men, have experienced all manner of visceral reactions to both ripped-from-the-headlines and smaller-scale storylines.
Describing the first scene of “Adolescence” to IndieWire’s Toolkit podcast, in which the audience enters the limited series through the eyes of the detectives raiding a family’s home, creator/star Stephen Graham said, “I wanted to grab the audience by the scruff of the neck and that camera moving up through that house and going into a boy’s bedroom and have police point guns at ’em.”
Naturally, it’s disorienting to hear that a 13-year-old boy is being arrested for murder, but by the third episode in the lauded series, viewers see a switch flip. Suddenly, they have an understanding of the environment the child was raised in — and what information was being fed to him inside...

A California judge has resentenced the Menendez brothers, and now they have a real chance at release.
Lyle Menendez, 57, and Erik Menendez, 54, were initially sentenced to life in prison without parole for the murder of their parents in the den of their Beverly Hills home in 1989.
The brothers claimed the homicides were a response to years of sexual abuse by their father, Jose Menendez, which they said their mother, Kitty Menendez, knew about and ignored.
In May 2023, 34 years after the murders, the brothers’ lawyers filed a habeas corpus petition in Los Angeles County Superior Court seeking a new trial based on new evidence, bringing the case back into the spotlight.
The case became an even bigger sensation after Netflix released a new nine-episode season of its true crime anthology, Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story, in 2024. Following the success of the limited series, Netflix also released a documentary, The Menendez Brothers,...

Los Angeles District Attorney Nathan Hochman has responded to the ruling Tuesday granting a sentence reduction to the Menendez brothers, which makes Erik and Lyle Menendez eligible for parole.
At a hearing Tuesday, despite opposition from the Da’s office, Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge Michael Jesic reduced the brothers’ prison sentences from life without parole to 50 years to life. They are now eligible for parole because they committed their crimes before they turned 26, though a California parole board will still have the final call on early release. The board has a hearing scheduled for June 13.
“The decision to resentence Erik and Lyle Menendez was a monumental one that has significant implications for the families involved, the community, and the principles of justice,” Hochman said in a statement Tuesday night. “Our office’s motions to withdraw the resentencing motion filed by the previous administration ensured that the Court was...

Relatives of Lyle and Erik Menendez testified Tuesday on why they believe the brothers should be released after serving almost three decades in prison for the 1989 murders of their parents.
The brothers watched the hearing at the Van Nuys Courthouse via video screen, per the AP. It is unclear if they will make a statement during the proceedings, expected to last for two days.
Their attorney, Mark Geragos, told reporters that he would seek a reduced sentence of voluntary manslaughter, something that would allow the brothers to be released without a parole board hearing.
“What we are pushing for, under the statute, is a recall of the sentence, a resentence that is meaningful modification,” he said, adding that he would seek time served for the lesser offense of voluntary manslaughter.

Updated with more details: The latest showdown between Erik and Lyle Menendez and the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s office has come down a pivotal notch.
In a surprising move Friday morning during a hearing in the Van Nuys, CA courthouse, Menendez brothers lawyer Mark Geragos withdrew a motion to remove Da Nathan Hochman and his entire office from the case. While more circumspect than usual with the media before today’s hearing, the typically verbose Geragos didn’t give a detailed reason before Judge Micheal Jesic for the move except to say he didn’t want to see the resentencing process held up anymore than necessary.

The Menendez brothers’ battle for freedom brought their attorneys to court in Los Angeles again for a Friday hearing as the the incarcerated duo, who have been behind bars for over 30 years after being found guilty of the shocking 1989 Beverly Hills double murder of their parents, had sought to boot the L.A. District Attorney’s Office from the case entirely, citing the new Da’s bias and a conflict of interest. But in a surprise move, their attorney Marc Geragos withdrew the motion for withdrawal entirely.
In the hearing at the Van Nuys courthouse in Los Angeles, Geregos did not provide a reason for the withdrawal before Judge Michael Jesic. But outside the court, the powerhouse lawyer who has been dipping his toes into Sean “Diddy” Combs’ defense as his case begins in New York, said that hit was a strategic move and was creating a paper trial.

Rosie O’Donnell accused Los Angeles District Attorney Nathan Hochman of using Erik and Lyle Menendez for publicity, adding that “the truth [will] come out” in the brothers’ case.

A week before a hearing that could be pivotal to the Menendez brothers getting out of prison, the Los Angeles District Attorney today slammed the siblings’ lawyers for their “drastic and desperate step of attempting to recuse the entire Office of the Los Angeles County District Attorney.”
“The defense conflates a conflict of interest with zealous advocacy,” says the 15-page opposition filing Friday in Los Angeles Superior Court by Da Nathan Hochman’s office. “In our adversarial system of justice, the parties often do not agree These disagreements are neither novel nor improper. They are often necessary hallmarks of our adversarial system’s search for the truth.”
Filed on April 25, the Menendezes’ recusal motion claims it is “made on the grounds that, absent recusal, a conflict of interest would render it likely that the defendants will receive neither a fair hearing nor fair treatment through all related proceedings.”

Two lawsuits filed this week related to the alleged pattern of sexual assaults of a onetime member of the 1980s boy band Menudo give contrasting narratives of the role the band’s then-manager played. One suit alleges that the manager repeatedly raped ex-Menudo member Roy Rosselló while handing him off to others including José Menendez, and the other lawsuit claims that these allegations, made for over a decade but recently highlighted in a 2023 Peacock documentary, are lies.
On Thursday, in a civil lawsuit filed in New York’s federal court, Rosselló claims that for three years, while in the Latin boy band, he was a victim of sexual abuse at the hands of Edgardo Díaz, the band’s founder and manager for decades. The suit alleges that from 1983 to 1986, Díaz subjected Rosselló to sexual assault, emotional manipulation and trafficking that spanned the U.S., Brazil, Puerto Rico and other locations worldwide.

“I think when I look back on this, I'll just remember it as being one of the most special times in my entire life,” Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story star Nicholas Alexander Chavez tells Gold Derby (watch the video interview above).

Chavez reveals he had jitters — and preconceived notions about his costars — his first day on set. When he learned he’d be working with Javier Bardem, he immediately thought of Bardem’s terrifying performance in No Country for Old Men. “I'm going into this expecting the scariest person of all time,” he admits. In their bid to seek a new trial or resentencing, Lyle and Erik Menendez have filed a blistering motion to disqualify the office of the District Attorney from participating in the proceedings.
“The record shows a conflict that renders it unlikely Erik and Lyle can receive a fair resentencing hearing, recusal is proper,” the 160-page filing states.
The case involving the famed brothers — who have served 35 years in prison for the 1989 murders of their parents, Jose and Kitty, at their Beverly Hills home — has featured various twists and turns over the past six months. In October, then-District Attorney George Gascón moved to reduce the brothers’ sentence from life without parole to 50 years to life. That reduction, if granted, would make the brothers immediately eligible for parole. But Gascón lost in the November election, and newly elected D.A. A resentencing hearing for Lyle and Erik Menendez that began on Thursday as scheduled was postponed again at the request of Los Angeles District Attorney Nathan Hochman.
Judge Michael Jesic, who was annoyed by the bickering between Hochman and the brothers’ attorney Mark Geragos, had earlier dismissed a motion by Hochman to delay the proceedings. Judge Jesic scheduled the next motions hearing for May 9, to discuss the admissibility of a state parole board’s risk-assessment report.
The brothers’ attorney Mark Geragos told reporters on Thursday that the Da’s office has “jumped the shark” and that he is “very close to filing a motion to recuse [Hochman].” If he follows through on the filing to challenge the Da’s office, that motion will be discussed during the May 9 hearing.

“This is another in a series of the Da’s office abdicating their role,” Geragos told members of the press. The brothers...

The Menendez brothers will still get their day in court, but the long-incarcerated siblings will have to wait until next month to see whether they will be resentenced for the 1989 shotgun murder of their parents.
With the brothers joining via video, LA Superior Court Judge Michael Jesic initially decided Thursday morning to go forward with the scheduled two-day resentencing session and cast aside an eleventh-hour motion of continuance from the LA County District Attorney’s office over a state parole board risk-assessment report ordered earlier this year by Gov. Gavin Newsom. However, after some fireworks between Nathan Hochman’s office and defense attorneys in and outside the Van Nuys courthouse, the judge has pushed back any resentencing hearing until at least May 9.
With all sides getting an opportunity to look over the semi-completed report and contemplate its admissibility, that hearing next month could be closed and take place in the...

A California judge has cut short the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s last-minute effort to delay the Menendez brothers’ resentencing hearing.
After Deadline revealed a filing late Wednesday by Nathan Hochman’s team based on a supposedly completed parole board risk assessment report ordered by Gov. Gavin Newsom, Judge Micheal Jesic quickly ruled Thursday morning that the previously pushed back hearing would go forward. With Erik Menendez and Lyle Menendez attending virtually from a state prison near San Diego, the hearing is set to run today and Friday.
Anticipated to testify today, Lyle Menendez posted about the hearing on his Facebook page as events unfolded:
Thursday will see the Mark Geragos- and Bryan Freedman-led defense deliver opening arguments and call witnesses. The defense will emphasize the brothers’ claims of self-defense from the sexual abuse by their father José Menendez as the main reason behind the bloody 1989 shotgun murder of their parents.

Exclusive: The Los Angeles County District Attorney doesn’t think the Menendez Brothers should be let out of prison and Nathan Hochman really doesn’t think their much-delayed resentencing hearing should go ahead as planned on Thursday.
After coming up short last week in front of LA Superior Court Judge Micheal Jesic in scuttling a potential reassessment of Erik Menendez and Lyle Menendez’s cases, the Da’s office has now made a brazen political move to force the hands of the courts and Governor Gavin Newsom.
Hochman’s team has just filed a conditional motion to push back tomorrow’s pivotal hearing in this once again high-profile case until Judge Jesic can get his mitts on the supposedly completed risk assessment report the Governor ordered the parole board on March 4 to work on as a part of a clemency petition for the siblings.

The family of Kitty and José Menendez filed a formal complaint and motion to urge the Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office to comply with Marsy’s Law after the Da unexpectedly displayed graphic crime scene photos during an April 11 court hearing.
The California Victims’ Bill of Rights Act, colloquially known as Marsy’s Law, states that victims of crimes must be treated with “fairness and respect for his or her privacy and dignity, and to be free from intimidation, harassment, and abuse, throughout the criminal or juvenile justice process,” according to the Department of Justice. The family argues that the photos used by the Da unearthed trauma and led to the hospitalization of José Menendez’s sister, Terry Baralt, who “experienced such severe emotional distress” upon seeing the images.
“We never imagined we would have to fight to be treated with respect and dignity,” the Menendez family wrote in a statement.

Cooper Koch is embracing the fame and media frenzy that came his way after portraying Erik Menendez in Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story.
"The attention and the validation — just hearing so many people like the show and were moved by the performance is amazing. I feel so lucky and grateful," Koch tells Gold Derby (watch the video interview above).
Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story is the second season of the true-crime anthology series created by Ryan Murphy and Ian Brennan for Netflix. This season centers on the 1989 parricides of José (Javier Bardem) and Kitty Menendez (Chloë Sevigny) by their sons, Lyle (Nicholas Alexander Chavez) and Erik (Koch).

Members of Erik and Lyle Menendez’s family have taken the Los Angeles County District Attorney to court for “an affront to victims everywhere” by displaying bloody 1989 crime-scene photos of the dead body of the brothers’ father José Menendez during a hearing last week.
“A grotesque spectacle occurred last Friday in this Court,” declares a filing Tuesday in Los Angeles Superior Court from Bryan Freedman and other lawyers on behalf of relatives seeking the siblings’ release from prison after more than 30 years. “This Court should ensure such a mockery never occurs again.”
“The District Attorney has made a mockery of the Victim’s Bill of Rights, or Marsy’s Law, which provides victims with the constitutional right to be ‘treated with fairness and respect’ and to be ‘free from intimidation, harassment, and abuse’ throughout the criminal justice process, including post-conviction proceedings,” adds the document put in the court docket this morning against Da Nathan Hochman,...

Ahead of an upcoming and much delayed resentencing hearing that could see the Menendez brothers out of prison after decades, Los Angeles County District Attorney Nathan Hochman is being blamed for an octogenarian relative being in critical condition in a hospital after photos of the siblings’ father mutilated dead body were shown in court last week.
Fighting efforts by the Da kicked off in March to stop any change in Erik and Lyle Menendez’s life-without-parole status for the 1989 shotgun killing of their parents, members of the Menendez family now want Hochman and his team off the case Asap.
“We will not let what happened on Friday stand,” family members said in a statement Sunday after 85-year-old Terry Baralt, sister to the brothers’ record executive father José Menendez, was admitted to the hospital that morning. “We are taking formal action and demanding that the District Attorney’s Office be removed from this case.

A Los Angeles judge has ruled that the Menendez brothers will proceed to a resentencing hearing next week, rejecting an attempt by District Attorney Nathan Hochman to withdraw a petition originally filed under former Da George Gascón.
Judge Michael Jesic delivered the decision Friday during a daylong hearing at the Van Nuys courthouse. Lyle and Erik Menendez appeared remotely from a San Diego prison, where they have been held since their 1996 convictions for the 1989 killings of their parents, Jose and Kitty Menendez.
The ruling ensures that the resentencing hearings will begin April 17. Judge Jesic may uphold the current sentence, impose a term of 50 years to life, or reduce the sentence to time served, which could lead to immediate parole eligibility.
The case has resurfaced in public conversation following renewed media interest, including a Netflix dramatization produced by Ryan Murphy. Actor Cooper Koch, who portrayed Erik Menendez in the series, was...

Erik and Lyle Menendez scored a major victory in their multipronged battle for their freedom on Friday, while the new Los Angeles district attorney was dealt a blow by a California judge who sided with the brothers in allowing their resentencing hearing to move forward.
Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge Michael Jesic handed down the decision, which amounts to a rejection of District Attorney Nathan Hochman’s request that a motion by his predecessor that the brothers’ sentence for the 1989 murder of their parents be reduced from life without the possibility of parole to 50 years be removed.
The brothers appeared in court via Zoom and made no comments about the decision on Friday.
The decision means that a resentencing hearing scheduled for the brothers for Thursday in Van Nuys will move forward. If the resentencing happens, Erik and Lyle Menendez, who by all accounts have been model prisoners for...

A Los Angeles judge ruled Friday that a resentencing hearing for Lyle and Erik Menendez can proceed, rejecting an effort by the Los Angeles District Attorney to withdraw a motion to reconsider the brothers’ lifetime punishment.
The judge, Michael Jesic, made his ruling following a daylong hearing in Van Nuys, CA, one that saw the brothers appear via remote video. Cooper Koch, who played Lyle Menendez in the recent Ryan Murphy Netflix series Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story that helped reignite interest in the case, appeared at the hearing.
The judge told prosecutors, per the Associated Press, “Everything you argued today is absolutely fair game for the resentencing hearing next Thursday.”

The Menendez brothers scored a victory in court on Friday, as a judge denied the Los Angeles District Attorney’s move to withdraw a resentencing petition.
The decision means that a hearing will go forward next Thursday and Friday, at which time the D.A. and prosecutors will argue over whether the brothers are sufficiently rehabilitated to warrant a reduced sentence.
Lyle and Erik Menendez have served 35 years for the 1989 murders of their parents, Jose and Kitty, at their Beverly Hills home in 1989. The brothers witnessed the hearing on Friday remotely via WebEx from state prison in San Diego County.
District Attorney George Gascón moved last October to reduce the brothers’ sentence from life without parole to 50 years to life. That reduction, if granted, would make them immediately eligible for parole.

What a difference a week makes.
As of March 19, neither Patrick Schwarzenegger nor Sam Nivola was predicted to land an Emmy nomination for the third season of The White Lotus., according to the official Gold Derby odds. But following last weekend's highly publicized storyline, in which their respective brother characters engaged in sexual activity while on an overnight trip, both have climbed dramatically in odds for Best Supporting Actor in a Drama Series. Schwarzenegger (as alpha male Saxon Ratliff) has entered the top seven and Nivola (as introverted Lochlan Ratliff) is now in our top 15.
Does that mean incest is in?
Not necessarily. Schwarzenegger and Nivola's parallel ascension in the category could be nothing more than our Emmy pundits updating their predictions in the wake of an all-out media ambush by the two actors. Erik and Lyle Menendez will appear before the California Parole Board for a hearing on June 13, California Gov. Gavin Newsom announced on Tuesday. Following the hearing, the three-month investigation into their behavior over decades in prison and any risk they pose if released will be submitted to the California governor’s office and a Superior Court judge. At that point, both will decide whether the convicted killers should be resentenced and subsequently released, granted clemency or remain in prison.

Los Angeles County District Attorney Nathan Hochman has withdrawn a motion that could have led to a reduced sentence for Lyle and Erik Menendez, who were convicted of murdering their parents in 1989.
Hochman criticized the brothers’ long-standing claims of self-defense, calling their account “phony” and saying they had failed to provide a true motive or exhibit meaningful self-reflection.
This decision marks a reversal from former Da George Gascón’s push for resentencing after new abuse allegations surfaced.
The Menendez brothers had argued they acted out of fear following years of sexual and physical abuse at the hands of their father, Jose Menendez.
However, Hochman emphasized the premeditated nature of the crime and the brothers’ continued dishonesty about the circumstances surrounding the murders.
The announcement has sparked backlash from the Menendez family and supporters, who accuse Hochman of ignoring evidence of abuse.

The Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office has pulled its support for resentencing Lyle and Erik Menendez.
After his predecessor opened the door to making the brothers, who are serving life sentences, eligible for parole, Los Angeles District Attorney Nathan Hochman reversed the office’s position and said they still pose an “unreasonable risk of danger to the community” because they haven’t fully accepted responsibility for killing their parents. He pointed to “deliberate and meditative” actions they took immediately following the crime in which they looked to cover it up.
The brothers “basically engaged in not just the ultimate lie of self defense but a series of lies around it,” Hochman said.
The brothers are currently serving sentences for life without parole for the 1989 murders of their parents, José and Kitty Menendez. They’re pursuing multiple legal avenues to be released from prison, including through Gov. Gavin Newsom, who...

California Governor Gavin Newsom has provided a glimmer of hope for the Menendez brothers.
He directed the state parole board to conduct a comprehensive risk assessment to evaluate whether Lyle and Erik Menendez, incarcerated for over three decades for the 1989 murders of their parents, pose a threat to public safety if released.
This directive comes as the brothers’ legal team presents new evidence alleging long-term sexual abuse by their father, Jose Menendez, which they claim led to the tragic events.
The Menendez brothers, Lyle and Erik, have reportedly shown signs of rehabilitation in prison, engaging in educational programs and mentoring other inmates.
Both have expressed deep remorse for the murders of their parents, emphasizing their growth over the decades behind bars.
Despite their life sentences, they have built a sense of purpose through work, faith, and strong connections with supporters who advocate for their re-sentencing.

In fact, high-profile prison reform advocates like Kim Kardashian had already started celebrating the news.
But the brothers’ fortunes changed when newly elected California Da Nathan Hochman revealed that he had no intention of granting the Menendezes a new trial.
Now, however, it looks as though Erik and Lyle once again have reason to be hopeful. In fact, they might wind up getting released without a resentencing hearing.

The Menendez brothers have received bad news in their bid to gain their freedom over three decades after the brutal slaying of their parents.
Los Angeles County District Attorney Nathan Hochman has formally asked a judge to deny the Menendez brothers’ 2023 habeas corpus petition.
The motion seeks a new trial or dismissal of their murder convictions.
Speaking at a press conference on Friday, Hochman sharply questioned the credibility and timeliness of the new evidence presented by the brothers’ defense, arguing it fails to meet legal standards for admissibility.
The petition centers on two key pieces of evidence, which has led to some debate about whether the brothers acted in self-defense.

At a press conference, Hochman said he has concluded that supposed new evidence of sexual abuse should not affect the brothers’ guilty verdicts for murdering their parents, Jose and Kitty, in 1989. Hochman also noted that the brothers gave a series of shifting stories about the murders, and also pressured their friends to help them by lying in court.
He concluded that the latest claims belong on a “continuum of lies” that the brothers have told over the last several decades.

Though a great deal of ink has been spilled about how Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk’s series could impact the Menendez brothers, the siblings in question are ultimately happy with “Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story.” This comes after Erik had previously called the Netflix original “inaccurate” and “dishonest.”
“I think it opened a lot of people’s eyes, and that’s always a good thing,” Lyle said during the latest episode of TMZ’s “2 Angry Men” podcast. “In that way, I think we are grateful.”
Lyle further noted that he and Erik have not yet seen the nine-episode Netflix series. However, they have seen clips of Cooper Koch and Nicholas Alexander Chavez’s portrayals of them. The real Lyle even praised Coch’s performance as his brother as “pretty extraordinary.”

Television's long tradition of spin-offs has yielded some of the most innovative and beloved shows to ever hit the small screen. A spin-off is a new TV show that features a character or characters from a pre-existing series. Often, spin-offs are an attempt to capitalize on the popularity of a breakout character, and they stick closely to the tone of the program they originate from. But this isn't always the case.
Sometimes spin-offs and their progenitors vary wildly in tone, subject matter, or even genre. This is often the case with 'back door spin-offs' or preconceived shows that air their pilot as an episode of a popular show to create the illusion that the shows are connected. Still other times, the spin-off merely evolves to create its own identity.

When headlines blared that businessman José Menendez had been shot 15 times along with his wife Kitty while watching TV in their Beverly Hills home on the evening of August 20, 1989, it registered as just another murder victim for most people, but those in the record industry instantly recognized the name.
Not long before, José Menendez had held a top post at RCA Records — home to Diana Ross, Kenny Rogers and Hall & Oates, among other artists, at the time — where he was tasked with turning around the label’s sagging revenue. He also signed Puerto Rican boy band Menudo, featuring a young Ricky Martin, while there and oversaw hit records by Mr. Mister, Starship and Eurythmics.
Indeed, he was such a known entity in the biz, and the story of his murder at 45, and subsequent arrests of sons Lyle and Erik Menendez (21 and 18 at the time), fascinated so many, that even irreverent...

Fire and ash have permeated every aspect of Los Angeles life since the eruption of the Palisades Fire, which sparked just a little more than a week ago, though it has felt like much longer for many. Judge Michael Jesic has opted to once again postpone the brothers’ widely publicized sentencing until March 20-21, according to a release by the D.A.’s office.
