The Walter Media Group film, which recently wrapped production, marks the feature debut of producer David Michaels, who writes and directs. Bleecker Street recently acquired the North American distribution rights and will release the film nationwide in theaters.
Bethany Milner (“The Trap”), Rafael de Belligny (BBC’s “Lord of the Flies”), and Jack Roberts (“Remnants”) round out the cast.
Based on the popular viral “creepypasta” series from writer Elias Witherow — which portrays the terrifying and other worldly figure of Tommy Taffy and his twisted actions as a parental disciplinarian — “The Third Parent” charts his invasion of the Hollow family and marks his nightmarish introduction to the big screen.
The story follows Mason (Lowe), a middle-aged father who lives with his wife Megan (Sanchez) and...

With his character being pushed into oncoming traffic on the Tuesday, March 5 episode, thereby killing him off, actor Brian Gaskill has confirmed that his time in Genoa City as Seth on “The Young and the Restless” has ended.
In a message posted on his Instagram page, Gaskill said, “Between social media and the Internet in general, news travels ridiculously fast these days …so… yeah, that happened…(and if you haven’t seen yet, please watch… I hear Los Angeles might be preempted… so check out Paramount+ or look for Times).”
“I had a great time on ‘Young and the Restless’ with the producers, directors, publicity department, and other actors,” added Gaskill in his post. “And it was incredible to see so much support from all of my friends on social media, who have been following along over the years… So grateful for all of you. The Friday, March 1 episode of “The Young and the Restless” is shaping up to be a must-see, as teased by actor Brian Gaskill, who is currently appearing on the series as Seth, Nikki’s (Melody Thomas Scott) AA sponsor.
On X (formerly Twitter), Gaskill noted, “It’s the beginning of everything” when talking about what fans can expect to happen next on the soap. Making things even more interesting, Friday’s episode sees Nikki learning shocking news. Does Gaskill’s tweet have anything to do with Nikki? You’ll have to tune in to find out!
Although we can’t wait to find out what happens next, one can’t help but wonder if Seth’s recent outings with Jordan (Colleen Zenk) might have something to do with “the beginning of everything” or his true backstory.

Exclusive: Matthew Wilder has been set to write and direct an untitled film that chronicles the life and work of author Joan Didion.
The plan is to paint a dreamlike day in the life of Didion and California in the late 1960s, when the brilliant young journalist is hurtled from encounters with jailed Manson girls to protesting Black Panthers, and from Nancy Reagan pausing in a photo op to Vietnam War POWs — climaxing with an epilogue in a near-future California where an AI Joan encounters a dystopia beyond her wildest anxiety dreams.
The film, produced under David Michaels’ Enfant Terrible Cinema, will shoot in Los Angeles in the first or second quarter of 2024. Financing is being discussed with potential partners this week at AFM.

Hollywood’s Covid-19 protocols, which were set to expire Friday, will remain in place while negotiations continue between the AMPTP and DGA, SAG-AFTRA, IATSE, the Teamsters and the Basic Crafts. In a joint statement, the unions announced “a continuation of negotiations of the Return-to-Work agreement while discussions continue with the AMPTP,” and that the current rules “will remain in place until a new Agreement is reached.”
First adopted on September 21, 2020, the protocols had originally been set to expire on April 30, 2021, but were extended with no major modifications and contained all of the original agreement’s provisions. Those include strictly enforced testing regimens, physical distancing, Covid compliance officers, diligent use of personal protective equipment and a “Zone” system to ensure that different sections of productions are tightly controlled based on proximity to cast, who often can’t wear masks or maintain social distancing while working.

Hollywood’s Covid-19 vaccination mandates were the subject of a three-hour special meeting today of the SAG-AFTRA national board, which ended without any action to modify the existing policy that allows employers, on a production-by-production basis, to require vaccinations as a condition of employment, subject to restrictions contained in the industry’s Return-to-Work agreement. That agreement is set to expire on Sept. 30.
Industry-wide talks to renew the agreement are scheduled to begin on Monday. Taking part will be leaders of SAG-AFTRA, the DGA, IATSE, the Teamsters and the Basic Crafts unions, as well as representatives from the companies and the Alliance of Motion Picture & Television Producers.
SAG-AFTRA president Fran Drescher, who last month had called for the special meeting, was accompanied to Saturday’s board meeting by her own epidemiologist, Dr. Harvey Risch. He is the Professor Emeritus of Epidemiology in the Department of Epidemiology and Public Health at...

The reopening of Broadway theaters should not come without as much consideration for actors’ safety as for that of audiences, Actors’ Equity Association made clear today in a presentation by union officials and their public health safety consultant Dr. David Michaels.
Actors and backstage workers, said Kate Shindle, president of Actors’ Equity Association, should not be treated as “epidemiological guinea pigs” in the reopening of Broadway.
The comment came as the union released a memorandum outlining four core principles needed to “support safe and healthy theater production.” The memo was prepared by Michaels, former head of Osha during the Obama Administration, and shared with Equity members and Equity producers earlier today.
“I’m sure at some point there’s going to be some fantastic director who wins a bunch of awards for staging an Arthur Miller play as a comment on living in the post-covid age,” Shindle told reporters, “and...

The U.S. Department of Labor has formally cited Midnight Rider production company Film Allman for “one willful and one serious safety violation” in the February 20 tragedy that killed camera assistant Sarah Jones.
“Employers are responsible for taking the necessary precautions to protect workers’ health and safety, and the entertainment industry is no exception,” said Assistant Secretary of Labor for Occupational Safety and Health Dr. David Michaels.” It is unacceptable that Film Allman LLC knowingly exposed their crew to moving trains while filming on a live track and railroad trestle.”
