Celebrated London post-punks Dry Cleaning are back with a new song, “Don’t Press Me,” which will appear on their upcoming second album, Stumpwork, out Oct. 21 via 4Ad.
“Don’t Press Me” is vintage Dry Cleaning, with vocalist Florence Shaw spinning a yarn that’s oddly specific, a little surreal, and taps into something deeply existential. In this instance, she’s mostly talking about gaming and enjoying life’s little pleasures without guilt, speaking — and even softly crooning a bit — over a punchy tangle of guitars and drums.

The fourth annual London Underground Film Festival is the first edition of the fest to be run by new caretakers Daniel Fawcett and Clara Pais, two accomplished filmmakers. The festival will run November 14-17 at the legendary avant-garde media center, the Horse Hospital.
Fawcett and Pais have programmed a bold fest, which begins on the 14th with the London-based documentary Grasp the Nettle by Dean Puckett. The film follows the challenges faced by a group of land rights activists fighting for a piece of disused land in West London. Also on opening night is Randy Moore’s Escape From Tomorrow, which was filmed surreptitiously at Disneyland; and Táu by Daniel Castro Zimbrón.
Other films screening at the fest include the award winning doc A Body Without Organs, directed by Steven Graves; Alex Munt’s Warhol homage Poor Little Rich Girls (After Warhol); Irene Lusztig’s history of childbirth, The Motherhood...

The 8th annual Wndx Festival of Moving Image is another epic celebration of experimental and avant-garde film held in Winnipeg, Canada, but this year the festival as an even epic-er retrospective of one of the giants of the field: Wndx fellow countryman Michael Snow.
Wndx is screening multiple works by Snow throughout the fest, which runs Sept. 25-29, including his classic and breakthrough films like Back and Forth and La Région Centrale; plus, other experimental works such as To Lavoisier, Who Died in the Reign of Terror, Sstoorrty, Triage and Prelude. However, most exciting is the 12-hour continuous loop of “Wvlnt” (Wavelength for Those Who Don’t Have the Time), a superimposed reworking of Snow’s groundbreaking and legendary Wavelength.
The festival isn’t limited to one filmmaker clearly and there are loads of experimental short film programs during the week that feature work by filmmakers such as Aaron Zeghers,...
