Lil Wayne Fleetingly Reminds Us Why He’s One of the Best
Image
Two years ago, Lil Wayne released a career-spanning compilation, I Am Music. It seems like an impossible task to summarize three decades of music that dates to his febrile debut as one-half of B.G.z in 1995, spans a record-breaking number of entries on the Billboard Hot 100 as well as dozens of official mixtapes and countless unauthorized leaks, and solidifies him as one of the most prolific and influential acts of his generation. But I Am Music largely skips over his heralded early material – there’s nothing from his first...

‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: Michael Corinthos Recast Confirmed- Young And The Restless Vet Rory Gibson Cast In The Plum Role Of Carly’s Son
Image
‘General Hospital’ (Gh) spoilers confirm that the role of Michael Corinthos (last played by Chad Duell) has been officially recast with Y&R vet Rory Gibson.

‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: Michael Had Come Home To Fight For His Kids

It’s interesting that the soap opted not to have another Y&r vet, Robert Adamson, step back into the part. He subbed for Duell several times. It would have certainly made sense.

However, the powers-that-be at Gh went in another direction. Ironically, Gibson replaced Robert Adamson on Y&r as well.

Y&r hired Gibson to take over for Adamson as Noah Newman. It’s almost like a slap in the face. That being said, we wish all the best for “the new Michael.”

It was inevitable that the show would recast Michael as he’s at the center of a major storyline. He’s in the midst of divorcing his wife,...

Comcast’s streaming service Peacock will offer a number of enhanced features like in-game statistics, real-time highlights and other interactive perks when its broadcast network NBC starts offering games from the National Basketball Association (NBA) later this year.

The features, rolling out later this year and timed to coincide with the start of the NBA season, promise to deliver an “exciting and inclusive streaming experience to draw in the broadest range of basketball fans and celebrate the league’s dynamic elements to give users new ways to get into the game,” Comcast’s NBC Sports said on Monday.

Some of the features, like real-time statistics, are present on other connected TV platforms like YouTube TV and Fubo — and even through Peacock during other events like the 2024 Summer Olympic Games. But Peacock will build on what...

NBC Sports to Hype Return of NBA With AI-Generated Voice of Announcer Jim Fagan, Who Died in 2017
Image
NBC is making a nostalgia-fueled drive to the hoop to tout the return of the NBA to its airwaves in the fall of 2025 after more than two decades.

In the latest move, NBC Sports announced that it will use an AI-generated voice of former narrator Jim Fagan, who died in 2017 at the age of 72, for its NBA coverage and promotion when its new 11-year NBA media rights deal begins in October. The network said it was employing the AI technology with the participation of Fagan’s family.

The voice of Fagan was “synonymous with NBC Sports’ critically acclaimed coverage of the NBA from 1990-2002,” according to the broadcaster. “His masterful narration drove unparalleled excitement for the league’s biggest matchups and stars, which included Michael Jordan, Shaquille O’Neal, Kobe Bryant, Hakeem Olajuwon and many more.”

NBC Sports released a short clip featuring Fagan’s AI-generated voice:

‘General Hospital’ (Gh) spoilers suggest that Carly Spencer (Laura Wright) may soon find out that Josslyn Jacks (Eden McCoy) murdered Cyrus Renault (Jeff Kober) as Jason Morgan (Steve Burton) is framed for the crime.

‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: Jason Visited Sam’s Grave And Vowed Not To Kill Cyrus

During the time Joss was in Cyrus’s hideaway house, Jason was visiting Sam McCall’s (Kelly Monaco) grave and then went to try to make peace with the increasingly obnoxious Drew Quartermaine (Cameron Mathison), who coldly turned down his offer.

Although he was at Sam’s grave, he was alone without anyone who could validate his story. Drew may refuse to back up Jason’s alibi and deny that Jason was at his house that night.

Vinny said at first, he was unsure if the multi-time NBA All-Star and champion meant him.

“He’s like, ‘You, let’s go,'” Vinny said, explaining Kobe motioned for him specifically to come over to meet him.

‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: Sasha Tells Michael She’s Pregnant With His Child-How Will He React To The Bombshell News?
Image
‘General Hospital’ (Gh) spoilers suggest that Sasha Corbin (Sofia Mattson) may soon tell Michael Corinthos (Chad Duell) that she’s pregnant with his child.

‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: Michael May Keep His Affair With Sasha A Secret

Michael is about to be embroiled in a custody battle with his wife, Willow Tait Corinthos (Katelyn MacMullen). His lawyer, “Killer Miller”, urged him to tell her everything and emphasized that there would be consequences if he didn’t.

Instead of disclosing the whole truth, Michael will likely choose to keep his affair with Sasha to himself. Revealing it could negatively affect his custody case.

After he met with Diane, Michael immediately called Sasha and asked to meet with her. Sasha and Michael will meet this week to discuss the upcoming custody battle.

This would be the perfect opportunity for Sasha to tell Michael she has a bun in the oven. However, since Sasha...

Image
‘General Hospital’ (Gh) spoilers for Friday, December 27 reveal Sasha Gilmore (Sofia Mattsson) makes a big decision. Elsewhere, Jason Morgan (Steve Burton) offers help to Josslyn Jacks (Eden McCoy). Plus, Killer Miller is on the alert. Here’s what you need to know.

‘General Hospital’ Spoilers For Friday, December 27: Decisions

First, we’ve seen this story before. Shortly after the truth about Sasha’s father came out, Cody Bell (Josh Kelly) was ready to leave town. This time, it’s Sasha who wants to leave town.

Of course, Sasha has different motives for wanting to get out of dodge. She’ll tell Maxie Jones (Kirsten Storms) about her decision, and we don’t expect that to go well.

Much like what happened with Cody, we expect Maxie to try talking Sasha out of this plan. Especially since Sasha is likely leaving to avoid questions about her pregnancy and who the daddy is.

‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: Wiley Was Raised By Lucas And Brad For The First Year Of His Life

Chad Duell is set to leave the soap shortly after the New Year. He could exit the canvas in several ways, but what if he mysteriously disappears?

Of course, Anna is too smart to believe this, but new evidence may emerge that will point the finger directly at Sonny’s daughter, Kristina Corinthos-Davis (Kate Mansi).

Ric Lansing (Rick Hearst), who’s always been a pain in the you know what, basically forced Elizabeth Baldwin (Rebecca Herbst) to go with him to the Pcpd and tell the police they saw Alexis Davis (Nancy Lee Grahn) tossing a gun over the footbridge.

Despite Sonny being the most likely culprit,...

Why Some Of The Best Players Aren't Even In NBA 2K25
Image
Playing as a favorite team in NBA 2K25 may require more nuance than players may have originally planned. The game is missing multiple fan favorites, such as Blake Griffin, John Wall, and Andre Iguodala, among several others. This absence led to backlash and questioning why these players were no longer an option for the game, but the answer is relatively straightforward.

NBA 2Ks removal of specific players is a practical move, not a personal one. These players are missing because the company simply lost the rights to use their likenesses in the game. These absent players have retired from the NBA, and so the rules have changed regarding using their images.

He Shoots, He Retires, He Disappears From NBA 2K Retired Players' Liknesses Are No Longer Licensed By The Players Association

Athletes retiring is standard in the sports world but often not considered in the gaming world. Blake Griffin, for example,...

Ben Stiller Photobombs NbA Great Reggie Miller During TNT Interview At Knicks Game
Image
“The Boogeyman is coming.”

That was former Indiana Pacers hall-of-famer Reggie Miller earlier this week in anticipation of calling a playoff game between the Pacers and the New York Knicks at Madison Square Garden. In his nearly 20 year NBA career, Miller was the bane of many Knicks fans’ existence for his clutch shotmaking, trashtalking and gamesmanship.

Some of Miller’s most famous interactions came with Knicks superfan Spike Lee, with whom he has gone back and forth over the years. Now we can add Ben Stiller to the list.

Miller was doing a standup tonight in the tunnel at Madison Square Garden with TNT’s Inside the NBA crew and talking about how much New Yorkers hate him, when one very well-known fan entered the shot.

“People are like, ‘Aren’t you worried about going back to New York City and calling a game?’ No. I’ve owned this city,...

Kenny Smith Says He Was “Advocating for” Sabrina Ionescu After Backlash Over Steph Curry Shootout Comments
Image
TNT sports commentator Kenny Smith is standing by comments he made about WNBA star Sabrina Ionescu during the NBA’s All-Star weekend.

While appearing on The Stephen A. Smith Show on Monday, the NBA analyst maintained that he wasn’t intending to criticize the athlete. “I think it’s much ado about nothing, Stephen, honestly,” said Smith. “Most people who know basketball understood what I was talking about. Actually, I was advocating for her, more than anything else, because basketball is muscle memory. So he practices from one range, she practices from another.”

He continued, “There’s even a study, I think, with somebody throwing darts. And if you move him out even one step, his accuracy changes dramatically. But the funny thing about it is if you move them in one step, the accuracy changes, because you’re taking so many shots from the exact same range. So I’m like,...

Stephen Curry Underrated Review
Image
Stephen "Steph" Curry is the greatest shooter in NBA history. The Golden State Warriors point guard has won four championships, was twice-voted the most valuable player, and dominated the 2022 NBA Finals as Mvp. He holds the league record for most three-pointers with an astonishing 3,390 made in a career that's far from over. Curry has single-handedly transformed modern basketball with his incredible skill and fortitude. No one could have predicted such grandeur when he was drafted. Curry has had to fight his entire life to prove the doubters wrong.

Stephen Curry: Underrated follows the superstar athlete during the 2021-22 NBA season. It also tells his backstory as a short, scrawny, and undersized kid that was constantly underestimated. The oldest son of former NBA great Dell Curry and his wife, Sonya, a standout volleyball player at Virginia Tech, had the family pedigree but earned his place at every turn. He wasn't...

‘Stephen Curry: Underrated’ (2023) Apple TV Documentary
“Stephen Curry: Underrated” is an documentary directed by Peter Nicks, starring Stephen Curry.

Stephen Curry: Underrated is a 2023 documentary film that tells the story of one of the most influential, dynamic, and unexpected players in basketball history. Directed by Peter Nicks, the film blends intimate cinéma vérité, archival footage, and on-camera interviews to document Curry’s rise from an undersized college player at a small town Division I college to a four-time NBA champion, building one of the most dominant sports dynasties in the world.

The film begins with Curry’s childhood in Akron, Ohio, where he was raised by his father, Dell, who was also a professional basketball player. Curry was a gifted athlete from a young age, but he was also undersized for his position. As a result, he was often overlooked by college recruiters. However, he eventually earned a scholarship to Davidson College, where he quickly established...

‘Stephen Curry: Underrated’ Review: Stephen Curry Goes Back to School in Satisfying Sports Doc
Image
If the measure of a good documentary about a superstar athlete is in synthesizing what makes its subject tick, “Stephen Curry: Underrated” gets passing grades. And that’s no small compliment, considering the movie spends most of its time at school, a familiar place for director Peter Nicks, whose previous doc, “Homeroom,” served up a very different look at education. With enough fresh stories to keep basketball fanatics engaged and a coda that every soccer mom will appreciate, this is a film that’s worthy of its subject.

Produced in part by Curry’s Unanimous Media, “Underrated” leans on abundant clips of the hoop star’s career and interviews with family, coaches and college teammates, as well as fly-on-the-wall moments that come with the kind of access filmmakers get when the subject helps to drive the project. Nicks casts Curry as an undersized underdog-turned-college phenom who becomes a four-time NBA...

Stephen Curry: Underrated Review: An Underdog Story About An Unlikely Champion [Sundance]
Image
At the age of nine, Steph Curry realized he wasn't as big as his fellow basketball players. Being undersized and outgunned never killed his love for the game, but if he wanted to make an impact, he was going to have to embrace the challenge of adapting to that reality and figuring out ways to compete. Multiple NBA championships later, it's safe to say he succeeded. Like all classic underdog stories, director Peter Nicks' "Stephen Curry: Underrated" is about determination. But it's also about second chances, and how believing in and supporting someone in their lowest moments can have life-changing consequences.

The film crosscuts between parallel tracks, one chronicling Curry's journey to attempt to win a fourth championship with the Golden State Warriors during the 2021-2022 NBA season and the other tracking his rise at North Carolina's sleepy Davidson College. Interviews with his coaches and teammates provide insight into what...

‘Stephen Curry: Underrated’ Review: Apple TV+ Doc Offers an Unconventional Look at Basketball Stardom
Image
Peter Nicks’ documentary Stephen Curry: Underrated, premiering at the Sundance Film Festival, begins with NBA Hall-of-Famer Reggie Miller reading from a withering scouting report for Stephen Curry. The report, written about the Davidson star ahead of the NBA draft, questions Curry’s athleticism, his size and his ability to withstand the physicality of the professional game.

Nearly two hours later, the documentary ends with Miller hailing the way Curry and his style of play single-handedly changed the NBA.

Based on those bookends, it’s easy to predict every beat of Underrated. One might assume this will be yet another film about an athlete who was able to parlay a chip-on-the-shoulder attitude into greatness, complete with a predictable assortment of talking heads including various members of the Warriors dynasty, perhaps a legend or two and regular appearances from Curry’s wife, Ayesha, for humanizing.

Underrated turns out not to be that documentary at all.
