Based on Joe Hill’s short story by the same name, “Abraham’s Boys: A Dracula Story” (2025) is a fascinating watch. Writer-Director Natasha Kermani, with plenty of help from cinematographer Julia Swain, presents a languidly beautiful dissection of the long-term horror inflicted by the king of vampires himself, Count Dracula. It focuses on the Van Helsing family, two decades after the events of Bram Stoker’s “Dracula.” The film explores the psychological scarring of those events through the eyes of two Van Helsing boys, the sons of Abraham Van Helsing. All the while, the palpable shadowy aura of Dracula looms large.
Abraham’s Boys: A Dracula Story (2025) ‘Shudder’ Plot Summary & Movie Synopsis:
As mentioned before, two decades have passed since the events of “Dracula.” Although “Abraham’s Boys” mostly adheres to Stoker’s Dracula story, there is one significant change made here. Unlike the original text, here Mina Harker does not survive along with her then-husband,...

Brian Tyree Henry is three for three when it comes to Emmy nominations in the major acting categories, having nabbed his first for best guest actor in 2017 for his appearance as the long-lost cousin of Ron Cephas Jones’ William on the NBC drama This Is Us; his second a year later for his supporting actor role as Alfred “Paper Boi” Miles in the FX comedy Atlanta; and now a lead actor nod for his portrayal of Ray Driscoll in Apple TV+’s limited series Dope Thief.
“This is a sexy-ass category,” says Henry of being nominated alongside Colin Farrell (The Penguin), Jake Gyllenhaal (Presumed Innocent), Cooper Koch (Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story) and Stephen Graham (Adolescence), to whom he expects to take a graceful L.

A controversial 90 Day Fiancé alum recently gave a shocking update about their child's immigration status. There have been several franchise alums who have had to leave their children behind in order to pursue the K-1 visa and move to America. Jasmine Pineda, Larissa Lima, and Loren Allen all left their kids in their native countries to find love abroad.
This was also the case for 90 Day Fiancé season 11's Aminata "Mina" Mack when she moved to the U.S. from France to be with her now-husband, Mark Bessette. Mina originally had a controversial status over her head as fans discovered, correctly, as confirmed by Mina, that she was a former stripper.
To that end, they thought she was a gold digger regarding her relationship with Mark, who is 23 years her senior.
However, Mina proved that her love for Mark was true, and she gained 90 Day Fiancé fan acceptance in the process.

Although beloved for his role as Theo Huxtable in the 1980s sitcom The Cosby Show, it was his portrayal of Aj “The Raptor” Austin in Fox’s medical drama The Resident (2018-2023) that allowed fans to reconnect with Malcolm-Jamal Warner as an adult in a major way.
Aj was known for being a man of the people and principles. Through his character, the series brought to the forefront conversations around the complexities of the broken healthcare and immigration systems in the U.S., as well as adoption through the character’s personal experiences. As someone who covered the show during its six-season run, I can confidently say that Warner shared great qualities with Aj. Not only were they caring and smart, but also intentional, thoughtful, and funny.

Malcolm-Jamal Warner, who rose to fame as the son on 1980s megahit The Cosby Show and had a prolific acting career that included series-regular slots on The Resident and Malcom & Eddie and was a Grammy-winning recording artist, died Sunday in a drowning accident while on a family vacation in Costa Rica. He was 54.
Costa Rican National Police told ABC News that Warner’s official cause of death was asphyxia. Police said he died near Cocles, a beach in Limon province, after being caught by a high current. He was found Sunday afternoon.
The Associated Press reported that the local police initially reported that Warner “was rescued by people on the beach.” But first responders from Costa Rica’s Red Cross found him without vital signs, and he was taken to the morgue.

Dracula is one of the most iconic characters in horror, having been adapted countless times on stage and screen. Robert Eggers recently reinvented the timeless tale in Nosferatu, and now another distinct approach to the vampire mythos is coming to the big screen. Based on Joe Hill’s short story of the same name, Abraham’s Boys: A Dracula Story is a sequel to Bram Stoker’s epistolary novel. Picking up decades later, it is a psychological horror story about Abraham Van Helsing and his family.
The film follows Max and Rudy Van Helsing, who have spent their lives under the strict and overprotective rule of their father, Abraham. Unaware of his dark past, they struggle to understand his paranoia and increasingly erratic behavior. But when they begin to uncover the violent truths behind their father’s history with Dracula, their world unravels, forcing them to confront the terrifying legacy they were never meant to inherit.

Kaiju No. 8 season 2 was supposed to debut with a bang. Yet, right off the bat, it is apparent that the sequel series will struggle to find its footing in the highly competitive summer 2025 anime season. The anime is debuting almost three weeks into July, at a time when most of its competitors have already found their appropriate fanbase.
Yet, its late release is the least of the anime’s problems. Episode 1 of season 2 adds too many anime-original sequences, and unfortunately, not all of them serve a purpose. The episode feels padded out with fillers instead of scenes that will actually progress the plot.

General Hospital (Gh) spoilers show that Michael Corinthos (Rory Gibson) now has an opening on his arm as baby mamma Sasha Gilmore Corbin (Sofia Mattsson) has left PC for safer climes.
Y&R vet Rory Gibson has been a smashing recast, taking over the role from Chad Duell this year.
For a hot minute it seemed that Michael and Sasha and Daisy Gilmore (Brenden and Evelyn Beimford) would form a fast family together with Wiley Corinthos (Viron Weaver) and Amelia Corinthos (Sequoia and Serenity Mork Macko).
That dream ended this week as Sasha and Daisy flew off to bunk with Robert Scorpio (Tristan Rogers).
What Happens Next in Port Charles?
We predict that Michael won’t stay single long. He’s wealthy, handsome, and one of the better Quartermaines. Who is the next potential Mrs. Michael?

Spoiler Alert !!!This article contains spoilers for Kaiju No. 8 season 2 episode 1.
When I first heard that Kaiju No. 8 was making a return with the second season, I was pumped up to see Kafka Hibino make his epic return after his struggling journey in season 1. The 32-year-old protagonist offers a refreshingly mature and deeply relatable journey for anime fans that differs from the typical young hero archetypes who are frustratingly handsome and unnecessarily powerful.
This first episode of Kaiju No. 8 season 2 got my hopes up, and although the narrative definitely took its sweet time to get moving, it eventually reached the spot. The entire first episode is divided into three different developments, and two of them focus on Kafka’s struggles and his internal conflicts with what is going to happen next.

“Dear unholy night, do we need Another Dracula movie”? Folks have been saying this since 1992 when a new(ish) writer couldn’t get anyone to finance his dream project. A project that literally kept him up at night staring longingly at the jugular in his wife’s neck. Well, he found his way when a couple of nice fellows agreed to finance a TV project for him that ballooned into a full-fledged, ocean- and time-spanning epic directed by the dude who made The Godfather. This is the story of the sex-fueled, bloodsucking, weird-as-hell vampire movie that pop culture hasn’t been able to shake off since. This is what happened to Dracula.
While the story of Bram Stoker’s Dracula started in 1897 (and the stories that inspired it long before that) director Francis Ford Coppola’s Dracula began during an unfortunate incident making The Godfather Part III. There were a...

Abraham's Boys: A Dracula Story is the upcoming adaptation of Joe Hill's acclaimed short story of the same name, which is in turn inspired by Bram Stoker's iconic piece of gothic horror, Dracula. The movie stars Brady Hepner, Titus Welliver, and Jocelin Donahue in the lead roles, with newcomer Natasha Kermani behind the camera.
For the most part, the story of Abraham's Boys stays true to Hill's narrative: it follows the two young sons of Abraham Van Helsing as they reckon with their father's paranoid behavior and erratic experiments. The story offers a fresh take on Stoker's timeless character, exploring themes as universal as humanity, ambition, and fatherhood in the process.
However, Kermani's on-screen adaptation of Abraham's Boys also takes some major creative liberties and diverges from Hill's story in many instances. Speaking with ScreenRant's Grant Hermanns, the director elaborated upon her decision to rewrite the...

In the 128 years since Bram Stoker’s genre defining Dracula was published, we’ve seen Abraham Van Helsing depicted in a number of ways. From a scientific savior and eccentric kook to an action star staking vampires in 19th century finery, we know him as a knowledgeable champion and the malevolent Count’s greatest rival. It’s he who swoops in to save the undead Lucy Westenra from an eternity of stalking children through the night and he who becomes the galvanizing force that ultimately ends Dracula’s reign of terror.
But not everyone views this Dutch nobleman as an unwavering protagonist. Joe Hill’s 2005 short story “Abraham’s Boys” takes a different approach, positioning the scientific crusader as equally nefarious to his bloodsucking foe. Director Natasha Kermani expands this disturbing exposé in an unusual sequel to Stoker’s classic tale. Abraham’s Boys: A Dracula Story challenges our belief in...

What if a classic hero turns out to be a villain in someone else’s story? Adapted from Joe Hill’s short story, Abraham’s Boys, Natasha Kermani’s rendition is a slow burn that at first focuses on creating an eerie environment, making the audience wait in anticipation of the unknown. You gradually realize that the floating pale figure with fangs and cold breath that you’ve been waiting for might not be the cause of the horror and agony the family we witness experiences; instead, it was the familiar that left them traumatized.
Abraham’s Boys: A Dracula Story is centered around Abraham Van Helsing from the gothic novel “Dracula” and his beloved family. It had been eighteen years since Count Dracula’s death, and the Dutch polymath doctor/vampire slayer had moved to California with his family. He’d built a house in the hills, away from the population.

It had been eighteen years since Count Dracula’s death, and the Dutch polymath doctor/vampire slayer had moved to California with his family. He’d built a house in the hills, away from the population.

Yuppie Conor (Conor Sweeney) is a hardworking, straight arrow type who thinks adding red text to a presentation could be too hot to handle for some. He’s also targeting a promotion at work, a promotion which boss Mr. Buechler (Adam Brooks) will make a reality if Conor helps him out with some document shredding, the act of which should be clearly viewable on the company’s CCTV system, no questions asked.
With wife Kristina (Kristy Wordsworth) out of town and the sudden realisation that his life may be in something of a fug, Conor’s imagination is caught by a TV spot advertising a party hotline, the host of which is leather jacketed, dancing goblin Frankie Freako. What Conor doesn’t realise that calling up Frankie is just the start of a bizarre, dimension-hopping adventure as Frankie and his fellow freakos Dottie Dunko and Boink Bardo show up at...

Plenty of horror movies have shifted the focus from vampires to vampire hunters, imagining an underground network of stake-drivers combatting the elusive breed of bloodsuckers. Sometimes the two sides overlap, as in the “Blade” films. “Abraham’s Boys” has the gist of an original angle that goes straight to the primary source of modern vampire mythologies.
Here, the protagonist is Dutch undead expert Dr. Abraham Van Helsing, who’d been called to England to fight a supernatural nemesis in Bram Stoker’s 1897 novel “Dracula.” That polymath, famously played by everyone from Peter Cushing, Laurence Olivier and Anthony Hopkins to Willem Dafoe (in last year’s “Nosferatu”), is now a recluse in the New World, hiding out from spectral pursuers 18 years after he’d helped orchestrate the Count’s extinction.
The twist is that fear of reprisal has turned this learned man into a paranoid tyrant, holding his family hostage in joyless...

Have you ever wandered the post-apocalyptic wasteland with a nuclear bomb in your pocket? I sure have. And although it may not seem like the “Fallout” games have much to do with writer/director Natasha Kermani’s “Abraham’s Boys: A Dracula Story” — adapted from the horror tale by Joe Hill (“The Black Phone”) — the film evokes a feeling that’s familiar to many gamers. It’s the one where you hang onto your best weapon the whole time, waiting for the right moment to use it, only to reach the end and realize it’s too late. You wasted every chance.
“Abraham’s Boys” has many secret weapons. The film’s stars, Titus Welliver (“Bosch”) and Jocelin Donahue (“The Last Stop in Yuma County”) are two of the best in the game. They play Abraham and Mina Van Helsing, characters from the pages of “Dracula” who married after the death of Mina’s husband.

Abraham's Boys puts a bold new spin on the Dracula mythos, continuing the story through the eyes of Van Helsing (Titus Welliver) and his sons. Based on Joe Hill's 2007 haunting short story, the 2025 horror film follows Abraham Van Helsing as he moves his children and wife to the United States in an attempt to escape their dark past.
The Direct's David Thompson sat down for exclusive interviews with the cast and director of Abraham's Boys: A Dracula Story, a chilling new film that picks up in the aftermath of Bram Stoker's legendary tale. Based on the short story by Joe Hill, Abraham's Boys follows Van Helsing as he settles in the United States with his sons Max (Brady Hepner) and Rudy (Judah Mackey) and his wife, Mina (Jocelin Donahue). However, as dark forces begin to stir once more, it becomes clear that Dracula's legacy is far from over.

The story of Dracula has become so ossified in our cultural memory, its beats so familiar, that it practically serves as a modern myth. We know the hero, Van Helsing, wins. But Natasha Kermani’s film asks a deeply uncomfortable question, one rarely posed about our monster-slayers: what happens next? What becomes of the victor when the war is over and the only thing left to fight is the narrative residue clinging to his family?
The answer is found in an arid, sun-punished California idyll, a location so antithetical to Gothic gloom it feels like a deliberate provocation. Here, Abraham Van Helsing lives in a state of paranoid exile with his wife Mina and their two sons.
This is Van Helsing’s retirement phase (if you can call it that), less a celebrated academic and more a petty tyrant of the homestead. When a strange malady, seemingly born from Mina’s past trauma,...

A morbid curiosity lingers throughout Abraham’s Boys, the new horror drama from director Natasha Kermani and writer Joe Hill. It takes the same foundational impulse behind the recent wave of low-effort childhood character reinventions—think public domain exploitation with no budget or vision—but filters it through a prestige lens and genuine creative ambition. Instead of nostalgia bait, it turns to one of horror’s most enduring literary texts, mining Bram Stoker’s gothic classic Dracula for something deeply intimate and unsettling. Hitting theaters this month via IFC and Shudder, the film is a deliberate and unnerving exhumation of legacy and monsters, both real and remembered. Sun-drenched and slow-burning, Kermani’s latest feature reimagines the Dracula mythos with striking originality.
Based on the short story by Joe Hill, Abraham’s Boys picks up years after the events of Dracula, centering on the sons of Abraham Van Helsing: Max (Brady Hepner) and Rudy (Judah Macley). Their father,...

Mina Shirakawa immediately went on the offensive, backing Moné into the corner with rapid strikes. Mercedes attempted to regroup outside the ring, but Mina pursued, leading to a heated exchange highlighted by Shirakawa’s Lou Thesz Press into mounted punches. Moné quickly turned the tables, delivering her own mounted punches before sending Shirakawa crashing to the floor, taunting Women’s World Champion Toni Storm at ringside. Moné maintained control with a crossface, but Shirakawa countered brilliantly into a figure-four leglock and holding onto the hold even as Mercedes rolled to the floor. Kitamura Tokoku was a pivotal figure in Meiji literary history. Although his career spanned only five years, his impact on both his contemporaries and later generations was profound. He was the first Japanese writer to seriously explore the nature and potential of the self and to attempt integrating a philosophy of individuality into a broader worldview. Through this introspective lens and his theory of the inner life, Tokoku emerged as one of the first truly modern Japanese authors. His influence was especially prominent among the Bungakkai literary group, of which he was a founding member and, until his death, the de facto leader.
“Kitamura Tokoku: My Winter Song,” produced by the Art Theatre Guild, offers a fresh perspective on his widely accepted image. It centers on the mystery of the pomegranate tattoo said to be on his right arm, and follows the events leading up to and following his suicide attempt.

Naoya Matsumoto’s Kaiju No. 8 has been trending for the past few days because of the new developments in both anime and manga. While the anime is making a comeback, the manga has almost reached its conclusion. Along its journey, Kaiju No. 8 made a lot of mistakes, but these mistakes were overlooked by fans because of the story.
Within the story, the one theme that Kaiju No. 8 absolutely perfected was unpredictability in following one’s dream. The story is a constant reminder that even after things do not go as planned, characters still manage to find a place for themselves in the world. The best example of this is the protagonist of the story, Kafka Hibino himself, who has failed every single time but still made it big.

Ever since the second season of Kaiju No. 8 was announced, I have been excited to see the next phase of Kafka Hibino’s journey. From working as a cleaner to joining the Defense Force that literally destroys Kaiju, Kafka has come a long way, and I am happy to see him grow even more in the upcoming story.
However, there is one aspect of the story that helps his growth the most, according to me, and that is the absence of a love interest in his life. While some would argue that Mina Ashiro is his love interest, the dynamic between the two is very different and does not involve romance. This has helped him stay focused on his goal and make sure he continues to grow no matter what.

Last year, Naoya Matsumoto announced that Kaiju No. 8 is finally creeping towards its finale with the Last Wave arc. Fans were not sure how to handle the news as they thought there would be more to the series. Nonetheless, they had to accept it. It has been close to a year since the first announcement, and the manga is ready to close its doors with just a few more chapters.
But not everyone is satisfied with the hasty decision. A year went by, and the manga has only covered one singular fight, making fans think that the conclusion might not be the justice that the series deserves.

Horror fans are in for a treat this year. After Ryan Coogler’s Sinners doubled down on the vampire genre earlier this year and while we still wait for Guillermo del Toro’s Frankenstein, French filmmaker Luc Bessonis bringing romantic take in Dracula: A Love Tale. The gothic-horror stars Caleb Landry Jones in the titular role and we finally have the first trailer of the upcoming movie.
The trailer recounts a 400-year-old tale, where Dracula loses his life as well as his faith in god, and turns into the creature we know him to be. Centuries later, things take a turn when he finds a woman who looks and feels like his beloved. The movie is inspired by Bram Stoker’s Dracula, but gives us the romantic angel that no adaptation has. The vintage setting, dark tone, and compelling performances make the feature worth waiting for.

Abraham’s Boys is a continuation of Bram Stoker’s Dracula, originally written as a short story by Joe Hill, author of NOS4A2 and The Black Phone. Directed by Natasha Kermani, this film adaptation is a suspenseful trek into the story of a father, his sons, and his dark legacy.
The story follows Abraham Van Helsing, played by Titus Welliver, and his family years after the events of Dracula. In their new home, Abraham and his now wife, Mina (Jocelin Donahue), raise their two sons, Max (Brady Hepner) and Rudy (Judah Mackey). The family seems typical of the time, patriarchal, religious, tight-knit, but also emotionally cold and distant. When their haunting past creeps back into their lives, the Van Helsings’ secrets come to the surface.

“I feel confused and lost. Perhaps, though I try to be good, I am bad. Perhaps I am a bad, inconstant woman.”
Few villains in the world of horror are so feared as the vampire. Our modern understanding of this folkloric figure stems from Bram Stoker’s iconic novel Dracula, which repackages the real story of Vlad the Impaler. For centuries this literary creature of the night torments his native Transylvania, drinking the blood of those living in the Carpathian mountains. Francis Ford Coppola brings this iconic story to life in his decadent 1992 film, but is it the women who actually drive the story?
Mina (Winona Ryder) plans to marry her heart’s desire, a level-headed solicitor named Jonathan Harker (Keanu Reeves). While he travels to the mysterious home of Count Dracula (Gary Oldman), Mina visits her childhood friend Lucy (Sadie Frost), a wealthy debutante currently sifting through a trio of handsome suitors.
