Sydney Sweeney's Euphoria Fame Saved This Horror Movie From Being Canceled
Image
Michael Mohan's 2024 horror thriller "Immaculate" is another entry in the well-worn "demon baby" genre, a horror sub-category that solidified in 1968 with the release of "Rosemary's Baby." In the film, Sydney Sweeney plays Cecilia, a young nun who moves into an Italian convent, following her own spiritual senses. While there, she shockingly becomes immaculately pregnant, and the convent sees her child as potentially divine. Of course, there is a shadowy conspiracy afoot, and Cecilia begins to suspect that some of the older nuns and the convent's local priest (Álvaro Morte) might be involving her in some sort of demonic ritual. The film has a gloriously shocking ending, although it's a little too arch and arty to be the trashy thrill it aims to be. It's unusual that "Immaculate" came out so close to "The First Omen," another demonic pregnancy thriller about a young nun.

Sweeney, it should be noted, served...

The Maharashtra government led the reported deal flow, signing memoranda of understanding worth INR8,000 crore ($930 million), including a INR3,000 crore ($349 million) commitment from Prime Focus to develop a 200-acre Film City. 'The Pitt' Star Tracy Ifeachor Not Returning for Season 2
Image
The Pitt is set to return early next year, but fans of HBO Max's hit medical drama will be devastated to learn that a key cast member will not return. As filming for the upcoming second season is officially underway, it seems a fan-favorite character has been written out of the series. The short turnaround for The Pitt Season 2 will still see most of the cast return, alongside some key new additions.

Per Variety, The Pitt star Tracy Ifeachor will not be returning as Dr. Heather Collins in Season 2. The report claims that the decision came from the creative team to remove the character moving forward. Ifeachor did not leave the series on her own accord, Variety confirmed. It's an unfortunate update for fans of the series, especially those who consider her to be a key element in the main storyline alongside Dr. Michael "Robby" Robinavitch (Noah Wyle). Collins' personal history with Robby,...

5 Liberating and Unconventional Love Stories in Hindi Cinema
Image
Hindi cinema has often been accused of glamorizing provocative issues like stalking or assault, or non-consent in the name of love & love stories. The essence has enriched and changed over the years, but all was not lost even during the darkest times of Hindi cinema.

And the few films that I’m going to mention here have dealt with the emotion of love with utmost sincerity, respect, and sensitivity it deserves. These love stories might or might not be of the lead characters, but have lifted the spirit of the movie with immense dignity and passion. And I’m not even touching the wave of Parallel Cinema in the 70s & 80s that transported the Hindi movies to the shore of World Cinema. This list is mostly of commercial films driven by star power.

1. Chandravati & Rambharan Mahto

An annotation on the social & gender injustice, director Prakash Jha valiantly infused so many...

YouTube Shorts Now Averages 200 Billion Daily Views
Image
YouTube has crossed another major milestone. The platform’s short-form video offering YouTube Shorts is now averaging 200 billion daily views, according to CEO Neal Mohan, who shared the news during his keynote at the 2025 Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity.

This marks a roughly 186% increase in daily viewership compared to a year ago. In March of 2024, YouTube reported that its Shorts offering was averaging 70 billion daily views since its launch in 2021.

During his keynote, Mohan also revealed that viewers are watching over 1 billion hours of YouTube on their TVs daily. As staggering as that number is, it’s not entirely surprising — in May, YouTube led Nielsen’s The Gauge report for the fourth consecutive month in a row, meaning the platform was the most-watched of any streaming service or channel. YouTube accounted for 12.5% of all TV viewership during that month, the largest share of overall viewership any streamer or channel The Gauge has ever reported.

YouTube to integrate AI video generator Veo 3 into Shorts
Image

Google-owned YouTube will lean into the artificial intelligence craze by integrating its own generative AI tool Veo 3 into the platform’s Shorts feature later this year.

The affirmation was made by YouTube CEO Neal Mohan during a conversation at the Cannes Lions festival in France on Wednesday.

“The possibilities with AI are limitless,” Mohan said. “A lot can change in a generation — entertainment, itself, has changed more in the last two decades than any other time in history.”

Mohan said creators — the term YouTube gives to its independent content producers — “led this revolution.” Curiously, he was joined by three human creators on stage while affirming AI tools were the future of video creation on the platform.

AI won’t replace those creators anytime soon, but tools like Veo 3 will supplement parts of the workflow over time and “push the limits of human creativity.

YouTube Shorts averages 200 billion daily views. Can Google’s Veo 3 AI add to that number?
Image
At the annual Cannes Lions festival in France, Neal Mohan delved into the past, present, and future of YouTube. As the YouTube CEO reminisced about 20 years of videos and shared some stats that underscore the platform’s current day platform, he looked ahead by announcing that the hyperrealistic Veo 3 generative AI model will soon make its debut on YouTube Shorts.

Shorts has grown rapidly since its launch more than four years ago, and YouTube’s recent decision to take a more liberal approach to the format’s view counts has furthered its expansion — at least in terms of raw numbers. Mohan announced that Shorts now averages 200 billion daily views. That’s a mind-boggling stat, though we wouldn’t be doing our jobs if we didn’t remind everyone that YouTube counts all Shorts feed impressions as views — and therefore your mileage may vary regarding the import of YouTube’s round-number viewership milestones.

YouTube to Add Google’s Veo 3 to Shorts in Move That Could Turbocharge AI on the Video Platform
Image
In a move that could change the video landscape, YouTube will integrate Google’s most advanced AI video generation tool, Veo 3, into YouTube Shorts later this summer.

YouTube CEO Neal Mohan announced the integration in a keynote at the Cannes Lions festival Wednesday, where he was joined by YouTube creators Amelia Dimoldenberg, Alex Cooper, and Brandon Baum.

“The possibilities with AI are limitless,” Mohan said. “A lot can change in a generation. Entertainment itself has changed more in the last two decades than any other time in history. Creators led this revolution.

“My bet for the next 20 years? Creators will flip formats, blend genres, and push deeper into the mainstream — as brand ambassadors, big business ventures and visionary storytellers,” he continued. “Communities will continue to surprise us with the power of their collective fandom. And cutting-edge AI technology will push the limits of human creativity. My biggest bet is that...

According to YouTube’s latest economic impact report, its creators added $55 billion to U.S. Gdp in 2024
Image
YouTube is still a vital piece of the business sector in the U.S. That’s the main takeaway from the platform’s latest Impact Report, which details its contributions to the U.S. gross domestic product (Gdp) and workforce.

The Impact Report is an annual collab between YouTube and Oxford Economics. Based on estimates about the value of YouTube-adjacent work, Oxford provides research on the platform’s total contributions to the U.S. economy. YouTube then publishes the findings via its official blog.

This year, the topline numbers are as impressive as always. YouTube’s creator community added $55 billion to the U.S. Gdp during the 2024 calendar year, and that industry supported the equivalent of 490,000 full-time equivalent jobs.

Both those numbers represent increases over previous Impact Reports. YouTube’s U.S. Gdp contribution was measured at $25 billion in 2021 and $35 billion in 2022, so that figure is steadily rising by about $10 billion per year,...

"That's the Whole Idea": ‘The Pitt’ Producer Reveals If the Show Will Leave the Hospital in Season 2
Image
The first season of Max's first original medical drama, The Pitt, turned out to be an incredibly successful one, and it's fair to say that audiences can't wait to return to the ER for yet another season. Max will deliver on a second season early next year and the staff of Pittsburgh Trauma Medical Center will return with ER veteran Noah Wyle at the helm as Dr. Robby. Much of the medical drama's first season saw the action play out within the confines of the hospital as the show takes place in real time. Each episode covers an hour of the one shift shown across the season with very few sightings of the hospital staff outside the hospital. So, will that change in Season 2? Will audiences get to follow staff home in the sophomore season?

Some members of staff had to depart the hospital at various points during the first season.

The Pitt's Best Possible Romance Could Become A Reality In Season 2
Image
If you watched season 1 of "The Pitt," HBO Max's hugely popular new medical drama, chances are you felt a bit sad when the final episode dropped. Not necessarily because the season ended on a particularly tragic note (though there's plenty of tragedy to go around throughout season 1), but because the show feels so real that it's genuinely a bit sad to have to say goodbye to the characters.

"The Pitt" has been praised for its medical accuracy, which was a central consideration for creator R. Scott Gemmil and executive producers John Wells and Noah Wyle (who also stars as Dr. Michael Robinavitch). The trio wanted to tell the story of overworked and often traumatized emergency doctors in a post-covid world, and keeping things as accurate as possible was of the utmost importance. But the show's realism goes beyond medical terminology and emergency department procedures. "The Pitt" pulled off something...

Will ‘The Pitt’ Leave the Hospital in Season 2?
Image
Due to the format of The Pitt, we only very briefly saw any of the hospital staff outside of the hospital during its first season. The hit HBO Max medical drama takes place in real time, with each episode covering an hour of the one shift shown across the season. The finale did see Robby (Noah Wyle), Abbot (Shawn Hatosy), Mohan (Supriya Ganesh), Javadi (Shabana Azeez), and other members of the staff gather in the park across the street from the hospital for a post-shift beer. It also followed King (Taylor Dearden) as she picked up her sister. But executive producers R. Scott Gemmill and John Wells don’t see the show ever going home with the characters or leaving the hospital in a significant way. “I don’t think we’ll ever go home with our characters,” Gemmill told TV Insider during Season 1. “I think what makes this show...

Every Black Mirror: Bandersnatch Ending Explained
Image
Welp, it was a nice run while it lasted. On May 12, 2025, Netflix pulled "Black Mirror: Bandersnatch" and "Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt: Kimmy vs. The Reverend" from the platform, completing its initially quiet efforts to remove all interactive specials. Unless the streamer has a change of heart and brings back "Bandersnatch" at some point in the future, viewers will no longer be able to go back in time to 1984 and control the life of Stefan Butler (Fionn Whitehead), a troubled young programmer who's working on a darkly ambitious Choose-Your-Own-Adventure PC game.

While it typically places somewhere in the middle in "Black Mirror" episode rankings, "Bandersnatch" broke new ground for the series upon its December 2018 release, and its importance to the franchise cannot be denied. It was the first (and may ultimately be the only) of its kind in "Black Mirror" -- an interactive movie with the same Choose-Your-Own-Adventure mechanics as the video...

YouTube Shorts Revenue on Par With Regular Videos, CEO Neal Mohan Says
Image
Just a day after its flashy upfront presentation to advertisers, YouTube CEO Neal Mohan revealed that Shorts’ revenue per watch-hour is now on par with its core YouTube business in multiple countries, including the United States. Its monetization rate also now exceeds the core business in some countries.

“It’s something that we have been working on for a while and it’s a testament to both the viewer side, but also the quality of the ad products that we build for our advertisers,” Mohan told an investor conference hosted by MoffettNathanson on Thursday.

The TikTok-style short-form video platform also saw a 20% year over year increase in viewership during the first quarter of 2025. About 70% of channels on YouTube upload on Shorts.

“Especially for younger audiences, viewing video is increasingly participatory in nature,” Mohan added. “They want to jump in themselves and participate in that creation process. And Shorts just makes that easy and straightforward.

YouTube Closes TV’s Upfront Week With Creators, Confidence and Lady Gaga
Image
Advertising is a confidence game.

The seller is trying to convince the buyer that they have what they want, and the buyer wants to make sure that they are getting what they paid for.

It is with that context that YouTube, the Google-owned video platform, confidently hosted its annual Brandcast advertising event at Lincoln Center on Wednesday evening, capping off the 2025 TV upfronts week.

And while every media company shared data on their respective stages to highlight how many people were watching their content, only YouTube had the ability to share audience data that started with a “B,” as CEO Neal Mohan noted that one billion people watch podcast content on the platform. And that’s just one genre.

“Today, YouTube has become the epicenter of culture,” Mohan emphasized. “And I don’t mean short-lived fads or a one-off hit show. I mean culture with a capital ‘C.’ The place where day after day,...

At YouTube Brandcast, Lady Gaga, ‘Hot Ones’ & NFL Help Video Giant Mark 20 Creator-Shaped Years
Image
At YouTube Brandcast on Wednesday night, the finale of a three-day blitz of upfront presentations in New York, Lady Gaga achieved the rarest of things: a standing ovation and screams of enthusiasm from a crowd of advertisers.

The pop star’s scorching 20-minute set closed things on a high note and received the opposite of the usually jaded reactions, but the event had already been a substantive one before she stepped onstage. The 20th anniversary of YouTube earlier this year served as the framework for the presentation, with appearances and remarks reflecting the milestone.

“In just two decades, YouTube has reshaped how we watch entertainment,” CEO Neil Mohan said. Live events, from concerts to sports to many other kinds, have come to be one of YouTube’s foundational elements as technology improvements have enabled more seamless livestreams. “We want to bring more of these moments to fans everywhere,” Mohan said.

At Brandcast 2025, YouTube talks big stats and big stars
Image
YouTube went onstage with big stars and big stats at its annual Brandcast, which for the fourth year running took place during the TV-focused Upfronts in New York City. The internet’s largest video site already dropped some numbers at last week’s digital-focused NewFronts, where it talked up its ad formats and performance stats to the media and marketing execs who are expected to spend over $10 billion this year to reach consumers online.

At the Upfronts? It swung big with Nielsen data showing that not only is it the #1 streaming service in the U.S. by watch time (and has been for the past 2+ years), it’s also been the #1 most-watched distributor of content across broadcast, cable, and streaming in the U.S. since February 2025.

And this, it tells brands and marketers, is a significant deal, because as of Q1 2025, TV is the primary device U.S. viewers use to watch YouTube.

A Deleted The Pitt Scene Could Have Completely Changed Dr. Mohan And Abbot
Image
The breakout hit Max series "The Pitt" might have a lot in common with its predecessors, like "ER" and "M*A*S*H," but one thing the show seems to be missing that those had was a little bit of romance. While that's likely because the series is intended to be as realistic as possible and romance between coworkers in the hospital is potentially challenging at best and extremely problematic at worst, almost every medical TV show has at least some kind of romance happening. "M*A*S*H" gave Hawkeye all kinds of nurse girlfriends, "Grey's Anatomy" was practically made of pairings, and even the medical comedy "Scrubs" had its fair share of romance. There's a little tiny bit of attempted (and failed) flirtation between Javadi (Shabana Azeez) and nurse Mateo (Jalen Thomas Brooks), but that's pretty much it.

In an interview with Variety, actor Shawn Hatosy, who plays...

“I Think There’s a Flirtation”: ‘The Pitt’ Star Reveals a Cut Scene That Would Have Unveiled Dr. Abbot’s Love Interest
Image
Dr. Abbot (Shawn Hatosy) is one of the more important characters in The Pitt despite his limited screen time. Abbot features at the beginning of The Pitt, talking to Dr. Robby (Noah Wyle) on the roof before leaving at the end of his shift. He’s not seen again until he comes back to help with the PittFest mass shooting event. Dr. Abbot has a special relationship with Dr. Robby, but new information has come to light that shows where his romantic interests lie. Hatosy sat down for a tell-all interview with Variety to talk about The Pitt, and he revealed there’s a cut scene in Season 1 that would have revealed Dr. Abbot was interested in Dr. Mohan (Supriya Ganesh):

"There’s one line in the first episode that got cut, where somebody makes a comment that she’s slow, and I say, ‘She’s the smartest person here.

A Cut Line From 'The Pitt' Season 1 Gives Insight Into Abbot's Feelings Towards Mohan

Shawn Hatosy is giving a little bit of insight into his character Dr. Abbot’s feelings about Supriya Ganesh’s Dr. Mohan.

Fans of the series noticed a serious flirtation towards the end of season 1, and many are now “shipping” the two characters.

The Pitt Star Reveals How One Cut Scene Would Have Changed A Character Relationship: "I Think There's A Flirtation"
Image
The Pitt star Shawn Hatosy has revealed how one cut scene would have drastically changed a character relationship between his Dr. Abbot and someone else. Abbot first appears in episode 1, just as Robby (Noah Wyle) is arriving on his shift. After the changeover happens, he's not seen again until the PittFest victims are brought in, giving him more development as he interacts with The Pitt's characters. His most important moments happen with Robby, though, offering only a few glimpses at his relationships with his other co-workers at the hospital.

Speaking with Variety, Hatosy revealed that Abbot was supposed to have a short scene in The Pitt episode 1 where he praised Dr. Samira Mohan (Supriya Ganesh) in a way that could be interpreted to imply he has a romantic interest in her. The actor explained how Abbot was supposed to compliment Mohan's intelligence, and that it would read like he was flirtatious about it.

In India, Neal Mohan announces YouTube’s $100 million investment in local creator economy
Image
India is a red-hot market for creator content, and YouTube is making sure to maintain its connections to local influencers. At the World Audio Visual &Entertainment Summit (Waves) in Mumbai, YouTube CEO Neal Mohan shared that his company has already paid out millions to Indian videomakers — and it’s planning to invest millions more in the local creator economy.

Mohan revealed that more than 100 million Indian YouTube channels have uploaded at least one video in the past year. 15,000 of those channels have at least one million subscribers. In total, YouTube’s payouts to Indian creators, artists, and media companies have totaled ₹21,000 crore (~$2.5 billion) over the past three years. “YouTube’s ability to connect a creator anywhere with audiences everywhere has made it a powerful engine of cultural export, and few nations have leveraged this as effectively as India,” Mohan said to the audience at Waves.

₹21,000 crore is just the beginning.

One Of Black Mirror's Most Popular Episodes Could Get A Proper Sequel
Image
The seventh season of "Black Mirror" just dropped on Netflix on April 10, and it included something new for Charlie Brooker's anthology TV series: a true sequel to a previous installment. 2017's "USS Callister" was enormously popular when it premiered in season 4, so it makes sense that in season 7, we got "USS Callister: Into Infinity," a feature-length episode following up on that story. According to an interview with Entertainment Weekly, though, Brooker actually planned for another "Black Mirror" story to get a sequel first.

"I did work out the storyline for a completely different sequel for 'Bandersnatch,' which was going to be called 'Banderstruck,' but I never got to do it," Brooker revealed, specifying that he would have written a sequel to the show's innovative interactive special that came out in 2018. In that special, we, for lack of a better term, "control" main character Stefan Butler (Fionn Whitehead...

"Let's Take Away All This Guy's Support System": Noah Wyle Explains Why Dr. Collins Isn't in 'The Pitt' Finale
Image
Editor's note: This article contains spoilers for Season 1 of 'The Pitt'Max's The Pitthas become one of the most lauded television shows in recent memory for its real, graphic depiction of an emergency room shift. However, as Season 1 came to a conclusion, one of the show's senior attending physicians, Dr. Heather Collins (Tracy Ifeachor), was absent. While this absence is partially explained in the show, the star of The Pitt, Noah Wyle, has shed some more light on why Collins didn't make an apperance.

It is established that Collins goes home in Episode 11 after a miscarriage, as ER head Dr. Robby (Wyle) tells her to rest and not answer her phone. This provides a reason as to why she is not present in subsequent episodes when the ER has to deal with a mass shooting. However, there is more to it than that, according to Wyle. "The thinking was, 'Let's take...

The Pitt (2025) TV Series Review: One of the Best Television Series of This Year with all of its Medical Procedural Glory
John Wells
The bemoaning of television fans as streaming has dominated, studios have cut through and added more budget and decreased episodes. The feeling of good long-form television is slowly missing. Notwithstanding the qualities of soap operas or even great network television, one of the reasons shows having 22-odd episodes were so popular and relevant for as long as TV had existed was because they had allowed the viewers to slowly descend into forging connections with the characters within the small screen. Thus, if a show is successful due to the demand of the audiences, it has an incentive to return. Because the budget is controllable, the time taken between seasons is significant enough that the show manages to stay within the zeitgeist of its fans.

Cut to 2025, where prestige television is slowly losing its sheen due to its longer wait period between seasons, the qualitative disparity is resulting in fewer shows...

The Pitt Season Finale Review: Our Baptism By Fire Concludes with a Masterclass Stroke of Tears, Humor, and Hope
Image
If you’re anything like me, you’re not ready to let go of this series yet.

Like Mohan, after getting placed in the most chaotic, immersive experience ever, my adrenaline is still racing, and I’m remotely ready for the comedown.

But alas, that’s what The Pitt Season 1 Episode 15 was all about; as the dust settled, existential crises simmered, and everyone lived to see another day tomorrow (most of them are coming back “tomorrow”).

(Warrick Page/Max) McKay is Simply a Woman Doing Her Best, But She Remains Robby’s Blind Spot

To my relief, the seemingly blase police officer didn’t have to cart my girl away after all, and I’m thankful for that. What’s frustrating is that it required appealing to the other police — other first responders, to allow some grace.

But is this surprising? It’s often how it works, right? All it...

The Pitt Season 1 Episode 15 Finale Recap: 9:00 P.M.
Image
We’re not ready to say goodbye to this season, but alas, it’s time to power through the season finale.

If you’ve checked out our The Pitt Season 1 Episode 15 Review, you’ll know just how much we loved this episode.

But for now, let’s break down every scene of the hour.

(Warrick Page/Max)

They still have my girl McKay in cuffs, and I am livid already, and we’re only three seconds in.

She makes her plea, and Abbot lowkey looks like he’s about to go to war when Robby comes up, tired and weary, trying to figure out what’s going on.

The cops holding McKay are kinda rude and being ridiculous. Fortunately, the cops who were still there for their friend who got shot walk up when Robby is reasoning with the cops, and Robby tells them to do something since they wouldn...

Black Mirror Season 7's Plaything Gives Bandersnatch Only Half A Sequel
Image
This post contains spoilers for "Black Mirror" season 7.

When news broke that Netflix's long-running dystopia series "Black Mirror" would be revisiting the world of "Bandersnatch," speculation was rampant. Would the follow-up episode take on the same choose-your-own-adventure format as the groundbreaking interactive film did seven years ago? Would it choose one of that story's multiple endings as the "true" ending and continue on from that point, or would it embrace the butterfly effect and its many branched paths? The truth, it turns out, is a lot more mundane.

The episode in question, "Plaything," opens by speedrunning a police encounter much as a typical crime procedural would. Viewers see Cameron Walker (former "Doctor Who" star Peter Capaldi) — an erratic older man with long, gray hair and a meek attitude — get picked up for shoplifting a bottle of wine in a convenience store. Cops use some handy dandy future tech to...

The Pitt Season Finale Spoilers: The Comedown Has Everyone Hanging On By a Thread or Off a Ledge
Image
It’s that time we’ve all dreaded.

After The Pitt Season 1‘s exhilarating first season that kept us on the edge of our collective seats, the shift is over.

(Warrick Page/Max)

Of course, it’s been heaven for all of us watching it, as we’ve completely fallen in love with The Pitt’s remarkable cast and this fantastically written series that no one can stop lauding.

As we saw, The Pitt Season 1 Episode 14 wrapped up the last bits of the mass shooting. However, it doesn’t mean that the effects of it don’t linger on remaining patients and the doctors who spent the better part of three hours desperately trying to save lives after getting pushed to their limit.

'The Pitt' Comes Full Circle in Nerve-Wracking Season Finale Promo
Image
In the season finale of Max's hit series The Pitt, airing next Thursday at 9 p.m. Et, everything comes full circle for Dr. Robby (Noah Wyle). The shift is almost done, but it didn't proceed without challenges. The ER would concur that it's one of the most eventful shifts ever. As the team handled casualties from a mass shooting, many characters confronted parts of themselves they didn't acknowledge. From the interns sizing up emergency medicine on their first day to seasoned doctors dealing with personal demons, the end of the shift offers an opportunity to chart the way forward after everything that has happened. The promo for The Pitt Season 1, Episode 15, "9:00 P.M," finds the show coming full circle after an overwhelming shift takes Robby to the roof whose ledge he talked Dr Abbott (Shawn Hatosy) off when the shift started this morning.

But first, the interns. After everything that has transpired,...

The Pitt Season 1 Episode 14 Recap: 8:00 P.M.
Image
It’s hour 14 of the longest shift in human history. I’ve officially switched out iced coffee for a protein shake. Sorry, Dr. Shen. This millennial needs healthier fuel for this.

My love, Robby is likely still crying on the floor beneath pictures of animals and precious babies. Mel and Whitaker look more depleted by the second. Holding out that the mass casualty event nears a close because my entire crew needs to decompress stat!

We’re breaking down what happened scene by scene, but if you want my thoughts about the episode, check out our The Pitt Season 1 Episode 14 Review!

( Warrick Page/Max)

We open with the clown and the hilarious blond Od gossiping about the shooter possibly being at the hospital. Santos, shockingly, is the voice of reason and tells them to keep all the nurse gossip to a minimum so as not to alarm people.

Buster, the clown,...

The Pitt Season 1 Episode 13 Recap: 7:00 P.M.
Image
Like Dr. Shen, I have an iced coffee, Millennial dissociation, and enough gallows humor to get through what is sure to be a harrowing, intense, anxiety-ridden, and adrenaline-induced hour of The Pitt.

Are the shaky hands from the caffeine, anxiety, or anticipation? All of the above, baby, but that’s what makes this show so divine!

So, let’s get into it! And if reviews are more your speed, fret not, we have The Pitt Season 1 Episode 13 Review available too.

(Warrick Page/Max)

It’s Hour 13, also known as the unlucky number, but let’s hold a prayer circle or what have you that our badass first-line responders will have something akin to luck in all of this.

We open with Robby, looking more dour by the second but no less handsome. Seriously, my Noah Wyle crush has been reignited something fierce watching The Pitt, along with my Daddy Issues,...

The Pitt Season 1 Episode 13 Pushes Robby to His Breaking Point And Mel to Mvp Status
Image
Robby is Not okay, and neither am I.

However, I’ll be elated when Noah Wyle racks up enough Emmy nominations to last a lifetime because they’re well deserved, especially as The Pitt Season 1 Episode 13 concludes with Robby finally breaking down.

Please, someone, hug this man!

(John Johnson/Max) Mel King is a Queen

The mass casualty doesn’t slow down in the slightest during another hour that sails by so quickly that I didn’t even make it through my own iced coffee. Sure, I had 32 oz worth of it, but that’s beside the point.

But let’s get into some of this installment’s MVPs —and there are so many.

We have my girl Mel, who is precious to my soul and was a total rockstar. She may have started the shift timid and unsure, but she’s proven through various crises that she’s the strongest of the interns.

MrBeast, Lady Gaga, and Brittany Broski to headline YouTube’s fandom-forward Brandcast
Image
YouTube is going back to the Upfronts.

For the fourth year in a row, it’s hosting its annual advertiser-bait event, Brandcast, during the TV-focused spring Upfronts. It used to, like most digital platforms, present to marketers during the Interactive Advertising Bureau’s digital-focused NewFronts, but in 2022, it went all-in on a bid for TV dollars and moved to the Upfronts.

The move was a surprise when it happened–but now we expect to see YouTube at the Upfronts, especially considering the two key points of messaging it’s pushed since its last Brandcast:

YouTube has been the #1 most-watched streaming service on TVs in the United States for two years (per Nielsen) Living room TV watch time has surpassed mobile and desktop viewing, making TVs the most frequent destination for YouTube viewers

CEO Neal Mohan has mentioned these stats at every opportunity, pitching YouTube as not only the top destination...

YouTube’s first podcast head is out, but updated audio ads are in
Image
YouTube is making some updates that will affect its podcasting community, and one of those changes comes near the top of the company’s executive ladder. Kai Chuk, who joined YouTube in 2021 as its first Head of Podcasts, has moved on, according to a report from Semafor.

A YouTube spokesperson confirmed to Tubefilter that Chuk is no longer with the company. “YouTube is now the most frequently used service for listening to podcasts in the US, following years of investments to improve the podcast experience on YouTube,” reads a statement provided to Tubefilter. “To better serve podcasters on YouTube, we’re bringing the Podcast Partnerships team together with the News and Civics Partnerships teams. We’re grateful to Kai Chuk for all his contributions over the years.”

Tim Katz will continue to lead the News and Civics Partnerships team. Katz recently authored a blog post that celebrated a big milestone...

The Pitt Season 1 Episode 12 Recap: 6:00 P.M.
Image
Here is a scene-by-scene recap of The Pitt Season 1 Episode 12.

Hour 12: 6:00 pm- 7:00 pm.

Robby desperately tries to reach Jake, but he’s not answering. Dana tries to reassure him because she’s the best, but it’s to no avail.

The hospital manager tells Robby about the mass shooter at Pittfest, and he tells her that they need more help, the night shift is coming in, and she says that they’re calling in more people. Despite all of their differences, these two are finally on the same page because there’s a much bigger problem ahead.

(John Johnson/Max)

Robby tells Dana to call Jake some more and reserve so that people can relieve them at some point since they’ve been on shift for so long. It truly is the longest shift in the history of mankind, my goodness!

Robby tells the hospital manager about other needs,...

There’s a lot of slop on the internet. YouTube, Moonbug, The Wiggles, and more say they’ll stop kids from watching it.
Image
There’s no question about it: YouTube absolutely dominates the under-12 entertainment experience. Recent data shows kids ages 2-12 watch an average of 106 minutes of YouTube content per day, making it the top platform for kids. Its viewership share for the kiddo demographic is more than double broadcast TV’s.

But the stuff kids watch there isn’t always good for them. Sometimes it’s what YouTube calls “low-quality content.”

And YouTube knows that. It also knows it’s had ongoing problems quality controlling content aimed at kids. You may remember 2017’s Elsagate, where videos of characters like Elsa from Frozen and Spider-Man were showing up on kids’ recommended feeds. The videos appeared normal on the surface, but often had disturbing and/or sexual content buried within.

To address these problems, YouTube has done things like push young users toward the family-friendly, advertising-absent version of its platform, YouTube Kids, and...

‘Picture This’ Review: Prime Video’s Charming Rom-Com Remake Follows an Enterprising Photographer Speed Dating to Save Her Business
Image
One year after the romantic comedy “Five Blind Dates” premiered on Prime Video, there’s already a remake landing on the same streamer. At first glance, that sort of redundancy might sound egregious, given both films are in the English language and feature the same general premise of a 29-year-old woman facing personal and professional crossroads. “Picture This,” however, more than proves it’s worth revisiting that subject. It’s rooted in the same heartrending themes about tapping into power through passion, but sets itself apart by exploring the story through the specificity of Indian culture. Sweet, silly and sincere, director Prarthana Mohan’s spin has a clear understanding of what makes its source material revelatory and resonant.

London-based photographer Pia (Simone Ashley) has always viewed life through an unconventional lens. She loves work and her independence. But her world is currently in chaos and about to get even more complicated.

“Suzhal-The Vortex, Season 2 Of Amazon’s Tamil Series Sustains Interest Right Till The End” – A Subhash K Jha Review
Image
Religion, politics and sex make strange but recognizable bed fellows. Season 2 of the series Suzhal sustains its sophomore momentum by putting some of the characters from the original into situations that are not what they seem. The actors are in confident hands this time, as much as they were when the Tamil series first struck a note of foreboding three years ago.

Suzhal in Tamil on Amazon Prime Video, in 8 Episodes which streamed in 2022, had us agog. Its setting, actors, and treatment of a complex storyline generated ample curiosity, more so since the narrative constantly remained ahead of us as two cops, Sakkarai (Kathir) and Regina (Shreya Reddy) tried to solve the mystery behind the disappearance of a young girl Nila (Gopika Ramesh) the younger daughter of a union leader Shanmugan (Parthiban Radhakrishnan) who had this very strange propensity to repel those close to him.

I am not too sure...

Barb to start measuring YouTube viewership on TVs
Image
The YouTube app running on a smartphone. (Stock image)

Barb Audiences, the British equivalent of Nielsen Media Group, says it will work with Kantar Media to begin measuring viewership of YouTube content on television sets.

The partnership will see Barb and Kantar evaluate viewership of more than 200 YouTube channels, with those reports integrated into Barb’s daily audience reporting.

Barb said the move marked the first time a joint-industry measurement product evaluated viewership to YouTube, though other measurement firms have incorporated YouTube audiences into their own products for a few years now.

Among other techniques, Barb said it will use audio-matching automated content recognition (Acr) to identify when audiences participating in Barb panels are streaming content from YouTube on their TV sets — which is why the company is starting first with measurement of viewership across 200 premium YouTube content channels. The audience data will be incorporated into Barb’s daily viewership...

Is Noah Wyle's Max Series The Pitt Medically Accurate?
Image
Medical professionals have some of the most difficult jobs in the world, and that difficulty increases infinitesimally when they're working in emergency medicine. The new Max series "The Pitt" follows the team working in the emergency room at Pittsburgh Trauma Medical Hospital, with each hour of the series following one real-time hour in the hospital. It's incredibly compelling stuff with an impressive cast that features "ER" alum Noah Wyle as the head doc in the unit, Dr. Michael "Robby" Robinavitch, who must not only fight to save lives but contend with the hospital brass and teach a new crew of residents and interns how to be doctors in the most challenging of conditions. It's phenomenal television, eschewing the high melodrama of shows like "ER" or "Gray's Anatomy" for a more realistic look at what it's like to work a shift in an emergency room. There's still more than enough drama to go around,...
