Exclusive: Tony Amendola (Stargate Sg-1) will topline Rough Magic: Exit Shakespeare, a new film from veteran TV director Andy Wolk (The Practice) and Silver Spring Road Films that has recently wrapped production.
The film is set in 1611 on a single night where Shakespeare (Amendola) is at a crisis point in his career. It’s about how writers age, their jealousies, resentments, and regrets, why they can’t revisit their old glories, and how their writing can overwhelm their life. Shakespeare has sacrificed much of his family life for his theatrical success and now—haunted with guilt about missing his young son’s death to the plague—he is forced to reflect on the price at which glory comes.
WGA and Humanitas Award winner Wolk directed from a script he wrote with Elliot Krieger, and produced alongside Matt Handy.

Myriad Pictures has added Implanted to its virtual Cannes market sales line-up and will launch talks on the sci-fi from Fabien Dufils later this month.
Dufils co-wrote the screenplay with David Bourgie about Sarah, a struggling young woman in Brooklyn, who volunteers to be a test subject for an experimental brain nano-chip that orders her to commit crimes.
Implanted filmed on location in New York City and Paris and stars Michelle Girolami, Candace McAdams, Edouard Montoute, Martin Ewens, and Ivo Velon. Implanted Films produced in association with Mad Street Motion Pictures.

A group of French actors and directors have published an open letter decrying a lack of diversity on the big screen in France ahead of the troubled 45th César awards ceremony in Paris tonight (February 28).
Some 30 actors and filmmakers with Bame roots, including Aïssa Maïga, Eriq Ebouaney, Sonia Rolland, Edouard Montoute, Jimmy Jean-Louis are supporting the initiative alongside Olivier Assayas, Mathieu Kassovitz, Julien Leclercq and Gabrielle Lazure.
