In the psychosexual thriller, when jealousy and resentment simmer during a polyamorous, Gen Z intimacy retreat, the weekend descends into violent chaos.

Producers include O’Hara, Peter Phok (Stake Land), Corey Moosa (Margin Call), and Michael K. Dwyer (Nightmare Cinema) for A Group of Ferrets, Zach Hagen (“What We Do in the Shadows”), and Sabrina Munik (Locked) for Pink Flamingos Films. Bec Smith (Animal Kingdom) of Anonymous Content will executive produce.

I Trapped the Devil writer-director Josh Lobo is gearing up to helm his sophomore film, the sci-fi thriller Night After Night.

Johnny Sibilly (“Hacks”), Alexis Louder (Violent Night), Trace Lysette (“Transparent”), Aj Bowen (You’re Next), and Scott Poythress (I Trapped The Devil) have signed on to star, Deadline reports.

Cheap Af tells the story of a money-saving influencer (Arden Cho) seeking her big break, who risks losing her wedding and relationships when she goes all out to win Wedding Magazine’s “Best Wedding on a Budget” social media competition.

The Orchard has taken North American distribution rights to Harris Doran’s gritty festival hit “Beauty Mark.”

The drama follows a poverty-stricken young mother in Louisville, Kentucky who has to move when her house is condemned, forcing her to confront an abusive past in order to save her family.

The indie has taken several notable prizes at domestic film festivals, including a special jury prize for breakout performance from the Los Angeles Film Festival for star Auden Thornton, as well as the narrative feature audience prize from the Austin Film Festival.

Facebook’s Oculus Rift is getting its first 3D virtual reality feature film in Banshee Chapter, an indie sci-fi horror executive produced by Star Trek‘s Zachary Quinto that’s hitting the next-gen virtual reality platform today – for free.

The low budget frightener, loosely based on H.P. Lovecraft’s From Beyond, tracks a journalist investigating the disappearance of her old college friend and his ties to a secret experimental drug. Silence of the Lambs‘ Ted Levine, Sleepy Hollow‘s Katia Winter and True Blood‘s Michael McMillian star for first time director Blair Erickson in the film produced by Sunchaser Entertainment’s Stephanie Riggs and Before the Door’s Corey Moosa and Sean Akers, and Christian Arnold-Beutel.

Banshee Chapter debuted last December on VOD to modest fanfare. But that was before Facebook bought Oculus Rift in a $2 billion deal, heralding it as the next big thing in social communications and entertainment.

As the most expensive art form, it’s difficult to experiment with filmmaking in the way that the new Starz show The Chair does. Produced by Zachary Quinto, Neal Dodson and Corey Moosa, the program obsessively watches as two aspiring filmmakers turn the same script into different films. The closest cousin to this kind of semi-scientific meddling might be Michael Haneke remaking his own Funny Games. Or maybe Lars von Trier forcing Jorgen Leth to remake one of his short films in The Five Obstructions. Or maybe we can consider this as another in a long list of remakes that just so happens to take place simultaneously so that we can’t say which film is the “original.” Maybe I’m overthinking this (I am), but it’s exciting. Tinkering and deconstructing cinema is almost always fun, or at the very least interesting, for the audience — especially when the filmmakers themselves look to be losing their minds...

Not only is the idea behind Starz new effort, The Chair, one that makes for a rough road as a show, it’s one that has only a theoretical draw insofar as gaining an audience, and who the target demographic might be. The show will follow two hopeful directors as they each make their own version of a film based on the same script.

Zachary Quinto, and several others, will serve as mentors during the process, which will provide some draw, but as these directors take us through the process of creating a coming-of-age film, does anyone actually want to be a part of that? Sure, the idea sounds good, but it’s hard to tell what the show really looks like, and whether or not watching the behind-the-scenes effort of… who knows what, is really going to draw a crowd.

I guess we’ll find out.

Aldamisa International will commence pre-sales in the run-up to Berlin on the horror-romance Vivien Hasn’t Been Herself Lately.

Aldamisa Entertainment closed a deal with Neal Dodson, Corey Moosa and Zachary Quinto’s Before The Door Pictures to produce Brian Duffield’s directorial debut.

Vivien Hasn’t Been Herself Lately centres on a married couple as they struggle to survive against a supernatural entity. Aldamisa and Before the Door are out to cast.

“Vivien has always been a project close to my heart, and I couldn’t be more excited to be working with such phenomenal producers as Neal, Corey, Zachary and Nicki,” said Duffield.

Cheung launches new genre distribution label with FrightFest hit.

Newly launched Intense Distribution and 101 Films have acquired the UK rights to horror thriller Banshee Chapter and plan a release in January 2104.

Blair Erickson writes and directs. The cast includes Ted Levine, Katia Winter and Michael McMillian.

The story follows a young journalist who researches a strange government-manufactured chemical. The filmmakers say the story is inspired by a real secret programme run by the CIA.

The 3D film had its world premiere at Film4 FrightFest and it also screens at Toronto’s After Dark Film Festival on Oct 24.

Producers are Stephanie Riggs, Christian Arnold-Beutel and Before the Door’s Corey Moosa and Sean Akers.

Executive producers are Zachary Quinto, Neal Dodson, Marcus Schoefer and Gudrun Giddings.

Over the past few years, Zachary Quinto has established his acting rep by playing Sylar in Heroes, a couple of memorable roles on American Horror Story, and, of course, Spock in the last two Star Trek movies. So you could describe his transition into producing as, well, “logical.” Certainly it has gotten off to an encouraging start. Quinto produced director J.C. Chandor’s financial crisis movie Margin Call through the actor’s Before the Door company — the production outfit he runs with partners Corey Moosa and Neal Dodson — and exec produced Chandor’s Robert Redford-starring All Is Lost, which just screened at Cannes.

Here’s a first look at All Is Lost. Lionsgate, Roadside Attractions, Academy Award-winner Robert Redford, and Academy Award-nominated writer/director J.C. Chandor (Best Writing, Original Screenplay for Margin Call) jointly announced that principal photography has wrapped on the open water thriller All Is Lost at Baja Studios in Rosarito, Mexico. Chandor wrote and directed the film, and Redford stars in a solo performance of one man lost at sea and his battle against the elements to stay alive. Before The Door Pictures. Film Independent, the non-profit arts organization that produces the Spirit Awards and the Los Angeles Film Festival, handed out top honors to The Artist, The Descendants and Margin Call at this afternoon’s 27th Film Independent Spirit Awards. My Week With Marilyn, Beginners, 50/50, A Separation and The Interrupters also received awards at the ceremony, held in a tent on the beach in Santa Monica.

Michel Hazanavicius' "The Artist" was the big winner at the 2012 Film Independent Spirit Awards. The black-and-white silent film took home Best Feature, Director for Hazanavicius, Best Male Lead for Jean Dujardin, and Best Cinematography for Guillaume Schiffman.

In the performance categories, Michelle Williams took home the Best Female Lead award for her Marilyn Monroe portrayal in "My Week with Marilyn." Shailene Woodley, snubbed by the Academy for her memorable performance as George Clooney's daughter in "The Descendants," won Best Supporting Actress while Oscar frontrunner, Christopher Plummer, received the Best Supporting Actor award for his performance in "Beginners."
