Stellan Skarsgård will receive the Honorary Heart of Sarajevo at the 31st Sarajevo Film Festival in recognition of his contribution to the film industry and his acting career.

Skarsgård created headlines around the world recently when he shared his views on Ingmar Bergman. Speaking at Karlovy Vary Film Festival, he said: “Bergman was manipulative. He was a Nazi during the war and the only person I know who cried when Hitler died.”

Sarajevo Film Festival chief Jovan Marjanović described Skarsgård as “an actor of remarkable depth, strength, and integrity,” and a longtime friend of Sarajevo. He added: “His career is filled with unforgettable roles in films that challenge, move, and stay with audiences. This award is a heartfelt thank you for his outstanding contribution to cinema and for the continued support he has shown to our festival.”

Swedish acting star Stellan Skarsgård will be feted with the Honorary Heart of Sarajevo at the festival’s 31st edition in August.

The actor is a longtime friend of the festival, as well as a curator and one of the patrons of the Katrin Cartlidge Foundation – the scholarships of which were awarded at the Sarajevo Film Festival – and presented the foundation’s scholarship to Juanita Wilson at the festival’s 15th edition in 2009.

“The Sarajevo Film Festival remains unwavering and driven in its aim to highlight subjects of great consequence, underscored by an intense lust for life. I love going there”, said Skarsgård.

Based on Helen Fielding’s 2013 novel, the new movie follows Bridget as a widow raising two young children after the death of her husband, Mark Darcy. The character’s journey promises to blend the series’ trademark humor with a more nuanced exploration of grief and new beginnings.

“It’s about seeing Bridget maintain her optimism while navigating the challenging experience of raising children alone,” Fielding told Variety. Drawing from her personal experience of loss, the author worked closely with screenwriters Dan Mazer and Abi Morgan to craft an authentic narrative.

The night the third “Bridget Jones” novel, “Mad About the Boy,” came out in October 2013, author Helen Fielding was taking a walk in London when she passed her local pub and was accosted by a tipsy patron. “You’ve killed Colin Firth!” they shouted dramatically.

“Well the truth is, I didn’t ever intend to actually kill Colin,” Fielding tells Variety over Zoom, remembering the details of that day with a mischievous smile. She had instead ended the fictional life of Mark Darcy, the character Firth played alongside titular heroine Renée Zellweger in the “Bridget Jones” film adaptations, of which there were two at the time. Human rights lawyer Darcy was killed by a landmine in Sudan while negotiating the release of aid workers — an honorable way to go.

As a result, “Mad About the Boy” — the long-gestating film version of which debuts on Peacock in the U.S. Thursday and in U.

Just in time for Valentine’s Day, Bridget Jones comes to the rescue in a season where the holiday of love has so far been dedicated to horror (Heart Eyes) and action (Love Hurts). The first trailer for Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy has been released online. The fourth in the series of hit comedies films featuring Renée Zellweger sees Jones alone again, after husband Mark’s death, and having to raise two small children on her own.

Directed by Michael Morris and written by Helen Fielding, Dan Mazer and Abi Morgan, Mad About the Boy sees a return for Hugh Grant and Emma Thompson, along with a first appearance for One Day’s Leo Woodall as Bridget’s new love interest.

On Tuesday, Peacock released the first trailer for “Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy,” the fourth film in the long-running romantic comedy series and the first since “Bridget Jones’s Baby” in 2016.

Things are different this time for Jones, and not just because this is the first film in the franchise that will bypass theaters entirely. The first trailer for Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy has been released, and Renée Zellweger’s Bridget is still looking for love as she comes to terms with the tragedy of losing Mark Darcy (Colin Firth). Yep, you read that correctly, Darcy is no more and the trailer serves up the bad news straight away.

Still, the only way is up for our Bridget as she gets on with life, and the prospect of not one but two possible romances. Exclusive: Emmy-nominated Gaby Hoffmann, best known for her work on Amazon’s Transparent and HBO’s Girls, has signed with Gersh for representation in all areas.

Hoffmann earned three Emmy nominations, two for Supporting Actress on Transparent for her role as Ali Pfefferman, and a Guest Actress nomination for her performance as Adam’s erratic and mesmerizing sister Caroline on Girls. She was most recently seen in Abi Morgan’s Netflix drama series Eric and in Adam McKay’s Winning Time at HBO. She’ll next be seen starring in Netflix’s limited series Zero Day, opposite Lizzy Caplan, Jesse Plemons and Robert DeNiro.

Sources tell Deadline that preparations to shoot spin-off series, The Split Up, in Manchester this October have been paused indefinitely.

A BBC insider said there were editorial reasons for The Split Up being stood down, but they were not specific about why producers needed more time to resolve creative issues.

The BBC remains committed to the drama, which is produced by Sister’s northern arm and Morgan’s Little Chick Productions. A new shoot date has yet to be agreed.

Fewer than 10 people were working on The Split Up when it was postponed, though it is understood that others had turned down other projects to commit to the show in October. Casting was well underway.
