Beginning Jan. 1, Schwarzenegger fans will be able to stream Predator and Conan the Barbarian on Peacock. Conan the Barbarian was Schwarzenegger's first leading role of the 1980s and one of his most memorable, with the actor playing the popular sword-and-sorcery warrior created by Robert E. Howard. The 1982 movie follows Conan as he seeks vengeance for the death of his parents at the hands of Thulsa Doom (The Lion King's James Earl Jones), the leader of a snake cult. The festive action outing is now Amazon MGM’s biggest opening ever on the streaming platform, accruing “over 50 million worldwide viewers” over its first four days of release.

This means that Red One has now knocked another action flick, Jake Gyllenhaal and director Doug Liman’s Road House remake, off of the top spot. While its box office performance was mixed, Red One found success on Amazon Prime Video, where it became the most-watched film debut ever for Amazon MGM Studios. According to Amazon, the movie drew in 50 million viewers worldwide over its opening weekend on Prime Video (a four-day period).

Red One is still playing in theaters with over 3,000 screens in North America and 3,300 internationally.

As of December 15, 2024, Red One has grossed $92.5 million in the United States and Canada and $83 million in other territories, for a worldwide total of $175.5 million.

In the United States and Canada, Red One was projected to gross $30–35 million from 4,032 theaters, with some independent sources predicting a debut as low as $25 million or as high as $40 million. The film made $10.9 million on its first day, including $3.7 million from Sunday and Thursday night previews. It debuted to $32.1 million, topping the box office.

In its second box office weekend, the film dropped 59% to $13.3 million, finishing in third behind newcomers Wicked and Gladiator II.

“Red One” debuted as Prime Video’s No. 1 Amazon MGM Studios movie ever this past weekend, the streamer announced on Monday. That’s after it released a month prior in theaters.

According to Amazon, 50 million viewers watched the Dwayne Johnson and Chris Evans-led Christmas movie in its first four days of at-home viewing. The holiday buddy action-comedy previously made $175 million at the box office after first premiering in theaters on Nov. 15.

“Given the audience response to ‘Red One’ both in theaters and on Prime Video, the film will clearly be a perennial holiday favorite for years to come,” Amazon MGM Studios head Jennifer Salke said in a Monday statement. “Every film is different, and we are so grateful for the partnership with our filmmakers in collectively finding the right strategy to get this film in front of the widest possible audience.”

Speaking with People during Red One's recent world premiere in Berlin, Johnson hailed Evans for his comedy chops in the action-packed film, suggesting they played off each other well while on set. According to the wrestler-turned-actor, Evans made it difficult for him to keep a straight face throughout production. "'Cause I'm a pro," he said initially before admitting, "No, so many times I laughed. I am notorious for ruining takes. I laugh; it's just what happens."
