Statham stars alongside Dwayne Johnson and Vanessa Kirby in the 2019 Fast & Furious spin-off film, Hobbs & Shaw. Arnold Schwarzenegger is about as legendary as they come in Hollywood. From his days as a bodybuilder to becoming a breakout star in "The Terminator," his career is fascinating. It's also been rather lucrative, with many of his movies giving rise to big franchises with multiple sequels. But with the actor now much closer to 80 than he is 70, his career as an action star is winding down. So, which of his movies does he wish had more sequels? The answer is both unsurprising and also a reminder of a profound missed opportunity.
In a recent interview with Collider, Schwarzenegger was promoting the release of "Fubar" season 2 on Netflix. Touching on sequels he hasn't made or wished he'd made, he talked about the long-awaited "Twins" sequel, which sounds like it might still be happening after previously being scrapped. Not every movie can be — or has to be — an unforgettable masterpiece. A much-needed space needs to be carved out for fun, sincere B-movies that you suddenly remember on a Saturday night and decide to revisit. The best kind of mediocre, yet delightful films are the ones that strike a perfect balance between compelling suspension of disbelief and mindless disbelief. One such title that hits this sweet spot is the 2004 crime thriller "Cellular," starring a pre-Captain America Chris Evans and a pre-"Fast & Furious" Jason Statham. If you haven't watched it, or don't remember too many details, I've got you covered.
Before we dive into the "Cellular" experience, we need to talk about Joel Schumacher's 2002 thriller, "Phone Booth." In the film, an unnamed, scheming sniper (Kiefer Sutherland) calls a phone booth, which is answered by a young publicist named Stuart (Colin Farrell). This is no accidental phone call,...

Red One, the 2024 Christmas blockbuster starring Dwayne Johnson and Chris Evans, has already been slayed by almost every critic around. But now it's time for professional VFX artists to take their fair shots at the most expensive movie of last year, as the beloved Corridor Crew have lined up Red One in their CGI crosshairs. His character, Dominic Toretto of the Fast & Furious franchise, has become a meme when talking about “family.” A lot of that seems to be influenced by Diesel himself as he does not pass up a chance to show respect to his friends and fans in his career. It’s also what made his long-time rivalry with Dwayne Johnson jarring and the “family” aspect has be used as somewhat of a punchline. However, Diesel and Johnson have seemingly patched things up and the Fast star has teased the filming of the upcoming Fast X Part 2.
Diesel would recently post a photo about the arrival of “the first Fast car.” Now, the muscular star of the muscle car action series has made a new post on his Instagram that showcased an embrace between him and his co-star Jordana Brewster,...

Eiza González got her start in her native Mexico, but her best movies and TV shows prove she is now a globe-trotting star. González began her career in 2007 in Mexico as a teenager with telenovelas aimed at teens before branching out into music and movies. She was a fixture of kids’ and teen award shows in Mexico during the late 2000s as a result, picking up awards from the Mexican and Argentinian Kids' Choice Awards as well as from People En Español.
Her big break for a wider international audience would not come until 2017 with Baby Driver. Since then, she has proven herself as a force on screen, mostly in action movies. While she is incredibly fun to watch in action roles, she has also more than proven her abilities in dramas as well. Red One combines action, fantasy, and Christmas, but it missed a key element to every successful Christmas movie and ended up suffering for it. Directed by Jake Kasdan and written by Chris Morgan, Red One follows Callum Drift (Dwayne Johnson), commander of Elf (Enforcement Logistics and Fortification) and thus the one in charge of North Pole security. On Christmas Eve, Callum faces the biggest emergency of all: Santa Claus (J. K. Simmons) being kidnapped by a mysterious figure who broke into the North Pole.
The initial investigation leads to Jack O’Malley (Chris Evans), a hacker who was hired to break into the North Pole’s security without really knowing it was the North Pole. Callum reluctantly teams up with Jack to find and rescue Santa and together find out that the one behind his kidnapping is the winter witch Gryla (Kiernan Shipka). Red One wasn’t well-received by critics but...

Red One Sets New Record on Prime Video ( Photo Credit – YouTube )
In its opening weekend, Red One attracted a record-breaking 50 million worldwide viewers, becoming Amazon MGM Studios’ most-watched film debut ever on Prime Video.
“Given the audience response to Red One both in theaters and on Prime Video, the film will be a perennial holiday favorite for years to come,” said Jennifer Salke, head of Amazon MGM Studios. “Every film is different, and we are so grateful for the partnership with our filmmakers in collectively finding the right strategy to get this film in front of the widest possible audience. With Red One, there was no doubt that strategy needed to include a theatrical release and associated marketing campaign, which drove audiences to theaters and generated awareness for the film with viewers who would ultimately tune in on Prime Video. Red One premiered on Nov. 6 in theaters and, while it did have a significant gross, it didn't end up making a profit. However, since its early release on streaming, it's been an absolute success.
The Christmas action film stars Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson and Chris Evans as an unlikely team to save Christmas. The movie was acquired during the pandemic and was originally supposed to head directly to streaming, but Amazon decided to launch it in theaters one year after its original premiere date, and shortly after, released it early on Prime Video. Per The Hollywood Reporter, Red One's success goes beyond topping the charts and had the biggest opening of the year on the streaming service.

Despite being mercilessly savaged by critics (don’t they know it’s Christmas!?) and landing a “rotten” score of 30% on Rotten Tomatoes, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson’s Red One has now smashed a major record on Prime Video. The festive action outing is now Amazon MGM’s biggest opening ever on the streaming platform, accruing “over 50 million worldwide viewers” over its first four days of release.
This means that Red One has now knocked another action flick, Jake Gyllenhaal and director Doug Liman’s Road House remake, off of the top spot. However, while Amazon has revealed this monumental milestone for Red One, thus making it a win despite poor reviews and box office, THR points out that “Amazon did not offer clarity on how it reached the Red One number. Red One brings out several big names to spread some Christmas cheer to audiences during the holiday season with a relatively unique premise. Marvel Cinematic Universe star Chris Evans is one of those names, with co-star Dwayne Johnson praising the sense of humor he brought to the film.
Speaking with People during Red One's recent world premiere in Berlin, Johnson hailed Evans for his comedy chops in the action-packed film, suggesting they played off each other well while on set. According to the wrestler-turned-actor, Evans made it difficult for him to keep a straight face throughout production. "'Cause I'm a pro," he said initially before admitting, "No, so many times I laughed. I am notorious for ruining takes. I laugh; it's just what happens." Johnson added, "I thought earlier that maybe me and Chris might have some good chemistry. So did he. [And] we did."

Sometimes books are mega hits and get turned into movies that take off. There’s just something that captures the zeitgeist and it’s destined to be. Harry Potter came out of nowhere and then turned into a franchise of books, video games, Lego sets, and of course movies. Other times, authors release something that will undoubtedly get picked up as the track record for success is already there. This is the Stephen King special or even Michael Crichton when he was still active. Adaptations can come from cases of re-adaptations like Dracula, Frankenstein, and other classics that get recycled over and over again, especially of they fall into the public domain. There’s the rare case, though, that an unknown author has a manuscript pop and movie studios jump at the chance to create something new. The journey and strange tale of the author of Bird Box falls under that last category.

Many Prime Video viewers are Rock-ing around the Christmas tree as the festive season continues – by making his box office disappointment Red One a massive chart-topping hit. The loud, proud musclebound movie told the same old story as many of Dwayne Johnson’s films, with Red One being put straight on the naughty list of critics, delivering a hugely positive Popcornmeter on Rotten Tomatoes, and becoming a flop in theaters thanks mostly to its astronomical budget.
But just like most movies these days, Johnson is now back on top after what appears to be a decisive victory on its Prime Video debut. The film has easily pushed aside the meager competition, which mostly includes older movies, to outpace the nearest movie with five-times the viewership worldwide. Perhaps this is not that surprising, as Johnson is always a big draw on streaming, but its theatrical release coming in mid-November suggested that...

Red One has two more achievements to stuff in its stockings this holiday season. However, the Dwayne Johnson-led Christmas blockbuster looks even more unlikely to make back its hefty budget.
Via Collider, Red One made $12.8 million in North American cinemas during Thanksgiving weekend, bringing its domestic total to $76 million. Combine that tally with the $72 million Red One has earned in overseas territories, and the action comedy now stands at $148 million globally, bringing it closer to the $150 million mark. Along with that feat, Red One is now one of the top 25 highest-grossing movies of 2024, nipping The Beekeeper, the film led by Johnson's Hobbs & Shaw co-star Jason Statham, to make the list. These achievements add to a recent career box-office mark Johnson reached thanks to the film.

The Fast & Furious franchise has come a long way since its days as a simple street racing movie series about cars, vendettas, cars, family, and, yes, even more cars. However, by the time The Fate of the Furious rolled out in 2017, there had been some big changes to the type of story being told by Vin Diesel and his ever-growing crew, with the focus changing to almost James Bond-level antics for the tough guys and girls of the saga. This led to one of the franchise’s most audacious sequences – at least until they went into space, but that is one for another day – involving a submarine chase across a frozen tundra. This is something that screenwriter Chris Morgan has recently explained the story behind.
The Fast & Furious movies have always needed a little bit of suspended disbelief when it comes to some of the stunts and more spectacular moments of the franchise.

Similar to its American cousin the Western, samurai movies reached the apex of their popularity during the middle of the twentieth century, and just like the Western, samurai films began to decrease in public interest during the late 1970s. Factors such as the overexposure of the samurai genre on television, the aging of samurai cinema's greatest stars, and the overall decline of the Japanese film industry in the 1970s and 1980s contributed to the diminishing appeal of samurai movies.

Vin Diesel took to social media to share some updates on the status of The Fast and the Furious, saying that there are several ideas being floated around. To start off his post, he wrote, “I got universal in one ear saying we need FastX2 by March 2026! I have Comcast in the other ear saying we need two movies to be the Finale!”
Those options laid out by Vin Diesel alone are enough to get The Fast and the Furious fans revved up. Will the series really be hitting its finish line as early as the first quarter of 2026? Will it be turned into a two-parter?...

Fast & Furious star Vin Diesel shares an update on the franchise's plan for an endgame, including how many more movies there will be and Dwayne Johnson's return as Luke Hobbs. After the first installment back in 2001, Diesel returned as Dom Toretto last year for Fast X, the tenth installment in the Fast Saga. Fast X: Part 2 is now confirmed to be on the way (and is seemingly in production) and a Hobbs spinoff movie was announced last year, but it remains unclear just how many more movies there will actually be in the franchise.
Diesel now takes to Instagram to share a new update on the plans for the end of the Fast & Furious franchise, revealing, essentially, that it may not yet be set in stone. According to the star and producer, there's continued interest from Comcast in there being a Fast & Furious 12, in addition to...

Screenwriter Chris Morgan has been a big contributor to the Fast & Furious franchise, having started with the series’ third entry, The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift, and writing each sequel up to The Fate of the Furious. Morgan would opt to work on the spin-off Hobbs & Shaw for Dwayne Johnson and the business partnership would continue as he also wrote the script for Johnson’s latest Christmas movie Red One. The Hollywood Reporter recently sat down with Morgan as he talks the future of the Fast & Furious franchise and how another Hobbs movie was supposed to fit in.
After Johnson made a surprise cameo appearance in Fast X, fans of the franchise breathed a sigh of relief as he and Diesel seemed to have put their differences aside for one more collaboration and the stage had been set for Hobbs to re-join the family. It was once...
