    • Motilal was born on December 4, 1910 in Shimla, Punjab, British India. He was an actor and director, known for Devdas (1955), Chhoti Chhoti Baatein (1965) and Sach Hai (1939). He died on June 17, 1965 in Bombay, Maharashtra, India.

  • Motilal was involved with actress Nadira, and later actress Shobhana Samarth after she separated from her husband Kumarsen Samarth. He played the role of Samarth's real-life daughter Nutan's father in Hamari Beti, Shobhana's launch movie for Nutan.
  • He used to have a horse called Traitor, because the animal had the nasty habit of looking back at Motilal exactly at the time of reaching the winning post and losing the race in the effort! He gave up racing when his dearest friend Chandramohan, a character actor, died.
  • Actors Amitabh Bachchan and Naseeruddin Shah count Motilal among their favorite and one of the finest actors of Hindi cinema.
