    He played Mr. Portly, one of the two charity collectors, in the famous Decca 78-RPM record album of Dickens' "A Christmas Carol", starring Ronald Colman. Unfortunately, when the 1941 album was transferred to fill one side of a 33-RPM LP, his segment was completely eliminated, and is likewise not included in the recent (2005) Deutsche Grammophon CD release of the album.
