George Santos, the New York Republican elected to Congress in November, is facing more allegations of major discrepancies in his resume.

An article published by the New York Times previously revealed that his claims of his employment and education history couldn’t be substantiated.

This is Santos’ second run after losing to Democratic Rep. Tom Suozzi in 2020. He brought Republicans to a narrow majority in the House after defeating Robert Zimmerman in a newly drawn district encompassing parts of Queens and Long Island.

Santos painted himself as a “seasoned Wall Street financier and investor” who worked for multiple firms including Citigroup and Goldman Sachs. Both companies told the Times they found no record of his employment. Both Baruch College and New York University, where Santos claimed to have attended, could not find records of him ever being a student.

The incoming representative is also under fire for allegedly lying about his philanthropic work.

On Aug. 5, Comedy Central announced a reboot to the classic 1991 cartoon The Ren & Stimpy Show. The show’s initial airing, as one of the three original Nicktoons (alongside Doug and Rugrats), was a milestone in cartoon television history, with its purposely crude yet dynamic visuals and heavily exaggerated animation and aesthetics. “Rocko’s Modern Life,” the animated children’s television show that aired on Nickelodeon from 1993 to 1996, will add a prominent transgender storyline to its upcoming 45-minute Netflix revival, according to EW.

“Rocko’s Modern Life: Static Cling,” picks up up 20 years after the series finale and finds Rocko, the exasperated wallaby, and his friends Heffer (an exuberant steer) and Philbert (an anxious turtle) returning to an Earth that’s very different than when they left. Suddenly, their hometown is awash with coffee shops, food trucks, cell phones, and many other modern conveniences. One other change: Their friend Ralph, the child of Mr. and Mrs. Bighead, has now become Rachel.

Since floating around in space for 20 years, Rocko is mourning the loss of his favorite show, “The Fatheads,” which Rachel created. He discovers Mr. and Mrs. Bighead have lost touch with their daughter since she left on a journey of self-discovery.

Creator Joe Murray answered some of our questions about the imminent Rocko revival movie.

Over twenty years since its last episode, the Nicktoons’ classic Rocko’s Modern Life will return to Netflix with the revival movie, Rocko’s Modern Life: Static Cling. We’ve seen the movie and it’s awesome. It looks and sounds just like it did in the old days but, as creator Joe Murray told us via email, he didn’t want to bring Rocko back just to retread old ground:

“The story that I came up with showed that we could do something interesting. At first, I didn’t know if we could add to the Rocko legacy. I didn’t want to do a reboot or one-off that was a watered-down version of Rocko. I wanted it to push it further with the characters and the story.”

If you grew up in the '90s (or raised '90s kids), then you know that this was a decade of hilariously strange cartoon characters. From CatDog to Aaahh!!! Real Monsters to SpongeBob SquarePants, the '90s (and Nickelodeon in particular) introduced dozens of cartoons that made you think, "Who in the world comes up with this stuff?," and one of the best (and weirdest) was definitely Rocko's Modern Life.

Created by Joe Murray, the series revolves around the titular Rocko, a talking Australian wallaby who lives and works in the fictitious O-Town with his dog Spunky and his friends Heffer and Filburt (a nervous turtle). The show may have ended after four seasons and 52 episodes in 1996, but we have some good news for you, '90s babies: Rocko is returning, and his life really is about to get modern.

Netflix’s upcoming revival of Nickelodeon’s “Rocko’s Modern Life” will feature a transgender character.

Entertainment Weekly reported on Wednesday that the 45-minute revival, which will stream on Friday, will see original character Ralph Bighead having transitioned into Rachel. “Rocko’s Modern Life: Static Cling,” will see Rocko, Heffer and Filburt return from space, where they have been since the series’ original finale in 1996. When they land on Earth, they have to confront a changed world.

Nickelodeon's Rocko's Modern Life revival is now landing on Netflix with a set release date.

It's been two years since we first learned about the Rocko's Modern Life revival. Now the film is heading to Netflix and finally has an official release date. Titled Rocko's Modern Life: Static Cling, the film is set to release on August 9th, 2019.

The film picks up where the original series left off (Rocko and his friends mistakenly blasted off into space). Rocko's ran from 1993-1996 with 52 episodes over four seasons. I first met Steve through the big screen at the Ottawa Film Festival in 1992. His film “Wormholes” was in competition and, after watching it, I immediately knew we would get along well. I approached him in the lobby and told him about this show I was doing for Nickelodeon called “Rocko’s Modern Life” and asked if he would be interested in working on it. Nickelodeon went to San Diego Comic Con with Rocko, and we got our first look at the upcoming one hour special.

The one hour special marks the return of the show for the first time in over 20 years since it ended. The cool thing about the special is that it time lapses with the gap, meaning the characters have to adjust to "modern times" instead of being back in the 90's when the show aired.

The shows creators have noted that the one hour special will have a heavy message about technology and how much this world relies on it, especially compared to the generation of when the show originally aired. In order to make this work, the shows creators note that the characters have been literally drifiting in space for 20 years and have returned to a more advanced world.

Rocko’s Modern Life: Return to Earth!

Rocko, Heffer, Filburt, and yes, Spunky the dog, along with the rest of O-Town are headed back to Nickelodeon for the long-awaited Rocko's Modern Life revival next year. More than twenty years after it first went off the air, one of the most fondly remembered shows of Nickelodeon's golden age is coming back for a special TV movie. The good news? The entire original cast is set to return for the special, which has been given an official title as well.

According to Entertainment Weekly, Nickelodeon has officially titled the upcoming one-hour TV special, Rocko's Modern Life: Static Cling. Joe Murray, who created the original series, is on board to write and executive produce the special for the network, which is another very important piece of the puzzle for fans. Here's the synopsis for Rocko's Modern Life: Static Cling. And yes, Rock and the gang have been in outer space for more than two decades.

"[Rocko's Modern Life: Static Cling] brings the characters back to Earth after being lost in outer space since 1996. Rocko has trouble accepting this 21st century modern life, while Heffer and Filburt embrace every aspect of new technology, social media and the endless diversity of food trucks. Rocko whole-heartedly believes that his nostalgia for the past can save him from the tortures of the modern world."

Interesting approach. It seems that they are aware that the audience who used to watch the show has grown up and, as such, they are taking a bit of a social commentary approach. More importantly than that, all of the voice actors who made Rocko's Modern Life what it was are going to reprise their roles for the show. Carlos Alazraqui is back primarily as Rocko, but also Spunky and Leon. Tom Kenny, the man behind Spongebob, is back as Heffer, in addition to Chuck and Really Really Big Man. Other cast members include Mr. Lawrence as Filburt Turtle, Charlie Adler as Ed and Bev Bighead, Linda Wallem as Aunt Gretchen and Dr. Hutchinson, Jill Talley as Nosey, and Joe Murray as Ralph. Two new cast members in the form of Steve Little (Adventure Time) and Cosmo Segurson have also come on board.

This is not the only Nicktoons revival that the network currently has in production. Nickelodeon is also going to be airing Hey Arnold!: The Jungle Movie later this year, as well as an Invader Zim revival next year. 90s nostalgia is not something Nickelodeon is willing to ignore at this point.

Rocko's Modern Life aired for a total of four seasons from 1993 to 1996 with a total of 52 episodes. The series, in the same vein of something like Ren and Stimpy, has some mature themes hidden within the framework of a kid-friendly TV series. Like the theory that Rocko works for a phone sex hotline, for example. We can only hope that Rocko's Modern Life: Static Cling will bring in some of that same mature humor. Nickelodeon has yet to set a release date for the special yet, but we will be sure to keep you up to date as more information is made available.

After being lost in space for more than two decades, Rocko and his pals — and, you know, the Bigheads — are returning to Earth. And they’re all in for a rude awakening.
