Our chief film critic Nicholas Bell will see his first screenplay brought to the big screen with the likes of Fanny Ardant, Haaz Sleiman, Omar Sharif Jr., and Adam Davenport. Titled Personal Trainer the erotic thriller will be Stephen Riscica‘s directorial debut. Nicholas worked in collaboration with Davenport and Riscica. Production is set to take place in Serbia. The film is being produced by Martine Melloul of Kali Pictures and Davenport and Marko Ckonjevic for Fame Solutions, with Dragan Djurković of Vision Team overseeing production in Serbia. Lee Filipovski is associate producing, while Chris Myers of Global Resource Advisors and Gato Scatena and Jordan Rosner of Scatena & Rosner Films are on board as executive producers.…...

Erotic thriller “Personal Trainer” has chiseled out its cast.

The feature debut for director Stephen Riscica has cast legendary French actor Fanny Ardant, as well as “Visitor” star Haaz Sleiman, Omar Sharif Jr. and Adam Davenport in lead roles. Scatena & Rosner Films is handling international sales for the feature, kicking things off at the Cannes Film Market.

Described as being like Rob Reiner’s “‘Misery’ on steroids,” the film focuses on the relationship between an obsessive personal trainer and his client, and the extremes they are pushed to. It centers around Claude (Sleiman), an American expat who has used his privilege to sexually manipulate men, and has relocated to Serbia during the pandemic to avoid looming legal troubles following the accidental death of a man he spent an evening with. Claude moves into the estate of his mother Gwen (Ardant), a half-Serb, half-French retired entrepreneur with powerful connections.

The casts of Fox Sports’ pregame shows, “Fox NFL Sunday” and “Fox NFL Kickoff” will not appear in Fox’s Los Angeles studios today due to concerns regarding Covid-19.

Instead, Chris Myers will host both shows, with analysts Charles Woodson and Reggie Bush also in-studio. Regular “Fox NFL Sunday” cast members Curt Menefee, Terry Bradshaw, Michael Strahan and Jay Glazer will call in to the show remotely. “Fox NFL Kickoff” cast members Charissa Thompson, Tony Gonzalez, Mike Vick, Dave Wannstedt and Colin Cowherd will also not be in the studio.

The Broadway premieres of Ruben Santiago-Hudson’s Lackawanna Blues and Paula Vogel’s How I Learned To Drive have been set for 2022 and 2021, respectively, with producers at the Manhattan Theatre Club expressing “hopes high that we will be able to return to live theatre.”

The nonprofit Mtc announced the target openings today, along with plans to present an Off Broadway production of Simon Stephens’ Morning Sun starring Edie Falco and the American premiere of Anchuli Felicia King’s Golden Shield.

Mtc artistic director Lynne Meadow said, “With hopes high that we will be able to return to live theatre, we have created a season of diverse and exciting Broadway and Off Broadway premieres and we are honored to be working with the very best of New York’s brilliant artistic community.”

Exclusive: Fox Sports broadcaster Chris Myers is turning his eponymous radio interview show into a podcast after striking an exclusive deal with PodcastOne.

Myers is bringing his Cmi: The Chris Myers Interview show to the network, which is owned by LiveXLive and is responsible for podcasts by the likes of Adam Carolla, Shaquille O’Neal and Steve Austin.

The show was previously broadcast of Fox Sports Radio and ran on more than 250 affiliate stations as well as Sirius/Xm Radio.

The podcast will launch on August 26 former college football star and coach Urban Meyer, followed by interviews with the likes of Reggie Jackson and Troy Aikman.

Myers has covered the Super Bowl, the World Series, the NBA Finals, the NCAA Final Four, The Masters, the U.S. Open, the Triple Crown, the Olympics and the Daytona 500 and via Fox Sports contributes to the network’s coverage of NFL, NASCAR and Mlb.

The Promise is an imperfect, but extremely compelling historical drama about the Armenian Genocide. The subject matter is gut wrenching, a brutal account of a rarely addressed crime. The film is written and directed by Terry George, who previously tackled the subject of government sanctioned murder in the harrowing Hotel Rwanda. The Promise does not reach the bar of that masterpiece. It has a high production value and is well acted, but plays out like a soap opera. The narrative issues are problematic in a filmmaking sense. However, the story told is necessary and pertinent for modern times. Humanity still turns a blind eye as atrocities are broadcast daily.

How often do we hear the phrase, “Life imitates Art”? Well over the past year or so this phrase has been reversed on numerous occasions when real life events have inspired many a motion picture production, this again is true in the forthcoming The Promise whose trailer has become available.

Starring Oscar Isaac, Christian Bale and Charlotte Le Bon, the trailer gives us an insight into a troubled love triangle amidst the violence of the Armenian genocide at the fall of the Ottoman Empire. This rather intense and heart rendering tale of forbidden love has Isaac acting his socks off yet again to bring the trailer to life through adversity.

The Armenian Genocide is arguably the earliest case of ethnic cleansing in modern history (and is the event that spurred the invention of the word 'genocide' to boot). Beginning in World War I, and continuing well after it, the Ottoman Empire orchestrated the systematic mass murder of Armenian Christians through military conscription, work camps, death marches, and more. But it began in 1914 with the rounding up of Armenian intellectuals.

Thus it is a potent backdrop for any attempt at dramatic fiction, which The Promise offers a grand attempt at, presenting a war epic and melodrama in the vein of how Hollywood storytellers once depicted the Second World War as fertile ground for narratives.
