The Gala Film production is a rare Bulgarian children’s film. Bulgarian director Petrinel Gochev is currently in post-production on A Bulgarian Ship Is Sinking, a children’s film about a boy facing hardship when his father leaves. The film is produced by Gala Film, with Galina Toneva and Kiril Kirilov serving as producers. Bulgarian production companies Magic Shop and Maxim 15 are co-producing. The screenplay, written by Gergana Zmiicharova and Gochev, follows Petyo (Alen Angelov), a 7-year-old boy who looks forward to the start of the new school year, when his mother lies to him that his father has gone abroad. Petyo is sent to his grandfather’s (Mihail Mutafov), in the countryside, where he finds a best friend in the person of 6-year-old Filip (Hristian Manolov), with whom the protagonist will face a gang of older boys but, also, the truth. SXSW 09: Full lineup announced
SXSW is one of my favorite festivals of the year as it showcases some of the best and most innovative real independent films, and with this host of world premiers, it's also playing alot of Sundance material as well as genre fare from all over the world, many of which we've covered heavily in these pages.

From the Sundance lineup, we have films like Moon, The Immaculate Conception of Little Dizzle, You Won't Miss Me, Grace, and Humpday, among others.

For the world genre material we've covered, there's Lake Mungo, The Square, Zift, and Awaydays.

I think you get the point that lots of great looking film will be playing. I'll leave a bit of the exploration to you..

Lineup after the break.
